I had a sweet and savory experience that truly put a smile on my plate! From the moment I walked in, I was promptly greeted and seated. My server (Lucy) was amazing and incredibly attentive--she even remembered me from the time before! She brought out oat milk for my coffee right away and preemptively dropped off extra napkins and silverware with my drinks. It's those little details that make a big difference! My order came out speedy, hot, and fresh. Everything was exactly as I ordered and cooked to perfection. Everything was clean, and the music was at a tolerable volume. This may be the worst IHOP I've ever been to. We waited five minutes for someone to come and seat us, and that was only after I looked around the corner to find someone because he was sitting around talking to a couple sitting down eating. The staff paid no attention after we got our food. Bacon and sausage tastes like it was cooked earlier in the day and it's been sitting around in grease. The eggs were horrible like a rubber brick. I've been to this IHOP at least 30 times since I moved here m. usually it is spot on. About a month ago however, there heat was not working. My client and I were eating breakfast and it was very difficult because my pancake got cold as did the syrup. My waitress was hard to find. She also had had a rough time saying the heat had been out for several days. They did have heaters sitting around, but it still was very chilly, other than that one time I've had good experiences. The food is usually very good and the service. I give it eight out of 10. It really depends on the waitress or waiter that you receive. All in all it is worth the trip. read more

It seems like everyone is confused at this particular location in La Plata Maryland. Whenever I place the order I receive someone that has zero customer service and zero understanding of the menu which is extremely frustrating. Was craving some pancakes so I rounded up the kids and headed out to this IHOP location. This was my first time here and wanted to try them out as I always normally frequent the Waldorf and Clinton locations. Upon entering I noticed that the waiting area is rather small and with an infant in a car seat and a 5yo, it was kind of a tight squeeze. The host quoted a 10-15 min wait which I thought was great for a Sunday morning around 1130am. The wait was as promised and as soon as we were seated we immediately ordered. Our waitress Theresa was fantastic and very attentive. I ordered the Split Decision which comes with BOTH pancakes and French toast as well as eggs scrambled with cheese and both turkey sausage and bacon. The pancakes were as per the usual the bomb.com but the french toast was just ok nothing spectacular as well as the eggs which had a funny taste to them (couldn't quite figure out what it was but there was something extra going on with the flavoring). The turkey bacon and sausage was good as well. My son ordered the Silver 5 and left absolutely nothing on his plate with no complaints. Oh and the wait for our food was literally about 8-10 min if that which is the reason for the 4th star seeing as though there was a party of 14 that was seated when we sat down in addition to just about every table being occupied. Overall, we will definitely be back for more pancakes and great service, no eggs or French toast though! read more

I normally can deal IHOP for what it is- reliable, decent breakfast food. But when the whole experience is as bad as it is here, I can't get even give it credit for that. We arrived before 10 on a Sunday (I know, this is never a good idea), and were told the wait for 2 was around 20 minutes. 40 very crowded minutes later, we were finally seated at a dirty table (it had been bussed but apparently never wiped down). Our server came by quickly and made really awkward conversation, including saying that she was surprised that no one had cried yet today... umm... ok? She asked immediately if she could take our food orders, because it is just "easier if you already know what you want." Again, awkward. I had the garden omelet with hash browns, my husband had the chicken fried steak. The food was ok but the hash browns and my husband's side of pancakes came out over 15 minutes after the rest of the food. I watched 2 other tables get their food, including hash browns and pancakes, before we got ours. When they came out, the hash browns were very fresh but the pancakes weren't. The butter wouldn't even melt all the way. Our server did keep tabs on us and kept us updated, saying repeatedly that our food was on the way. She apologized and made weird comments about how the kitchen was so crazy and she was trying. We ran out of coffee. My water never got refilled. Just not a fun experience.
