I'm always impressed when a restaurant can take the basics and make them really, really good. I ordered French toast, eggs, and bacon from Eggspectation, and honestly, I loved every bit of it. Nothing overly complicated but well prepared, flavorful breakfast food done right. I only got my food to go, but the restaurant itself looked really nice and I definitely want to come back and actually sit down for brunch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, my order was ready right on time, and even after driving it back to my hotel, everything was still warm. This is definitely going to become one of my go-to brunch spots whenever I'm in the area. Can't wait to actually dine in next time! read more

If I could give more than five stars I would!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. The calamari was amazing and the goose bread was pretty good. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Grits which was divine! I usually don't like savory grits but these were the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the lamb and eggs which he said was amazing. We will definitely be back!! read more

Would I recommend? I would. I would also tell you that you will enjoy the food, it is high level "okay"but is not great. I wasn't overly excited with anything I ate but yes it was "okay", not bad. This may be my shortest review yet because I do not have much to say. But let me do this: service...got the job done. Ambiance...gets crowded at peak times and hours. Tip: order pickup. read more

I love eating breakfast any time of day! We started with the Fried Calamari, which my boyfriend really enjoyed. I ordered the Eggsuberant meal, which came with fluffy pancakes topped with salted maple caramel sauce and fresh strawberries . It also included two scrambled eggs with cheese , applewood-smoked bacon , and Lyonnaise-style potatoes . Everything tasted good, though I do wish the eggs had been more thoroughly scrambled with the cheese. He ordered the Fried Chicken & Waffles and added the salted maple caramel sauce and fresh strawberries as well. The chicken could have been seasoned a bit more, but overall the meal was enjoyable. The service was okay, and the atmosphere was a little busy. There was a short wait before we were seated. read more

I had a taste for breakfast so decided to give this spot a try. I'm glad I did. If you're looking for omelettes you should give them a try. This spot isn't crowded, seated quickly and it's nice and roomy. Now for the food. There's so many choices that you will need to come back at least a second round. You can't come and now try the omelette. The Eggspectation and the shrimp and crab Omelettes hands down some of best omelettes I've had. Flavor through and through, the right amount of everything. The Breakfast Tacoskick and a punch in the mouth, you'll want more than three. Adding the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes to any meal... why not. The cakes are fluffy, with the cream cheese drizzle to finish. Chefs kiss. Shout out to our waiter Kollin I will definitely be back read more

Sometimes can have a long wait on the weekends but we went this (Saturday) morning and was seated right away around 8:15am! I didn't take a photo of it but their garlic bread is literally the best. We had a great early dinner at Eggspectation last night as a family of four. We've visited many times for breakfast and lunch, but this was our first time coming for dinner--and it did not disappoint. We arrived during happy hour, which was a nice bonus. My husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine while we waited for our food. I ordered the mussels with marinara sauce, which came with fries. My husband went with the wings and a salad and was very happy with his choice. Our kids ordered a pizza and chicken tenders with fries, and both meals were big hits. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, and the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly. Our waitress was especially accommodating, which we appreciated while dining out with kids. It was nice to experience Eggspectation in a different way than our usual, and we'll definitely be back for dinner again. read more

What a great experience. I've been trying to get to eggspectation for quite sometime and finally had the shot. My wife and I went on a Monday before Veterans Day and this place was surprisingly packed. There were about 10 people waiting so I immediately knew I had to be at the right spot. We waited about 10 minutes and were seated. This place was lively. Great place for brunch. Our waitress was friendly and made a few suggestions. My wife and I ordered the following: Lemon Ricotta & Blueberry Pancakes Eggstravaganza Cajun Shrimp & Grits Western Omelette Flight of Mimosa's The Mimosa flight came out first. The flavors were Strawberry, Peach, Orange and Margarita. My wife enjoyed two of the four, peach and strawberry. Our food came out and took up the entire table. I ate the Cajun Shrimp and Grits along with the extravaganza. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS!!! Seasoned well, nice size shrimp, good sausage, and creamy grits. They could have gone a little lighter on the onions as I picked a few out due to the size but still delicious nonetheless. The extravaganza came with two slices of French toast, eggs, bacon and potatoes. The bacon seemed a little tasteless but the French toast was delicious. The eggs were fine and the potatoes were good as well. Overall I really enjoyed my two meals. My wife ordered the western omelette and the lemon ricotta and blueberry pancakes. The western omelette came with potatoes and salad. The omelette good however she really loved the pancakes. Between the mimosas and the pancakes she had no room for anything else. Overall we had a great experience and we will definitely return. Great service, good food and an enjoyable experience. read more

I took my parents to Eggspectation in Gambrills, Maryland for breakfast/lunch. I picked the BLT and they got Biscuits and Gravy. The BLT was tasty but I added mayonnaise to the already present lemon aioli sauce. I should have asked for extra aioli sauce, that may have made a difference. I asked for Blue Cheese dressing and got Ranch instead for my salad. I failed to mention this to my waitress, Ms. Tania. The biscuits were a large portion, but did not have nearly enough gravy for the dish. I asked for extra gravy and was advised it would be an additional $4. I opted to eat the buiscit sans extra gravy. The ratio of gravy to biscuits needs to be adjusted. Ms. Tania was nice, but I had to ask other waitresses/waiters since she was not as available as she should have been. The restaurant was clean, music not overly loud, and the restroom was clean, and well stocked. I told the mangaer and Ms. Tania about fixing the Biscuits and Gravy Dish. The manager said she would forward the information on to corporate. read more

I dined here for the first time with a friend. It's a nice, comfortable environment with friendly and professional staff. We started with the salted caramel beignets. Delicious. Making a BWI run had us in the Gambrills area, so how could we resist one of if not the best breakfast spot in the DMV!! Since I first visited the location in Silver Spring many moons ago, I've been a huge fan! The food is consistently OUTSTANDING! The interior is similar to First Watch.. Kinda country and no frills. This time out I had the crab and shrimp Benedict over cheesy grits and she had Chicken and Waffles. I've never had a Benedict like this, no English Muffin, hey, who needed the carbs anyway.. I absolutely loved it. She couldn't stop talking about how good her waffle was and after tasting it she was right! We chose not to wait and was lucky enough to snag a couple seats at the bar so that we could dive right in. Our bartender did an excellent job serving us and making drinks for the entire restaurant..I hate it when I don't remember names to give the appropriate shout out... I'll do better! :) If breakfast food is your thing, try out the restaurant that has "egg" in its name.. Just note, they have an awesome dinner menu too that I'm dying to try!! read more

Food was okay. Service nice but a little slow. Waited a while to order and for refills. Not too crowded. Server was nice. The problem is really that they charge you a lot for small things. Salad. Add chicken? 8 dollars. An extra pancake? 6 dollars. A side of bacon? 6 dollars. They nickel and dime you for a simple meal. So although we enjoyed it and had a good experience it was very overpriced for what it was. read more

I love eggspectation! They don't accept reservations on the weekend for brunch but the wait time isn't long. They get you in and out pretty quickly and service was warm and welcoming. Now let's get to the food!!!!!! The crab and shrimp omelette and Benedict was soooooo good. They add pesto and tomato's in there and the Benedict they pair with creamy grits and the omelette with crispy potatoes. But I couldn't only get that I had to get the French toast. I got the French toast with mascarpone and caramel sauce. My friend got the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. They are accommodating to any changes you have. And the ambience is really nice. Elevated diner style but nice. Highly recommend. read more

My friend ordered the wings and a shrimp sandwich, but the waiter couldn't really provide us with helpful information about the menu. I think she was only familiar with some items. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. Overall it was decent and a pretty good breakfast spot if you want a quick bite! First day date of 2026 we ventured to Eggspectation for brunch to kick off the year. The hostess was welcoming and after a brief 15 min wait we were seated. Service was great, fast and efficient for a busy day, the drinks were perfection and food was good but some items seemed pricey in comparison. Some version of bagel-n-lox is my go to breakfast/brunch order so the smoked salmon benny was calling my name. It was tasty but not sure it matched the price point of $25. (They have a similar dish- Bene Duck that is a croissant with poached eggs, duck confit, hollandaise on a croissant for $23 so not sure why the smoked salmon is slightly more expensive but the price-point did not deter me from trying it as its typically around $18-20 per entree most places.) The Jamaican coffee was strong coffee with a good amount of liquor, it was perfection in a mug and my fav thing of the day for $13. My hubby had the sangria and eggspectation burger $23 which he shared the burger needed a sauce so it was a bit dry and the sangria was just okay. Overall good experience and good food, some items on the menu seem a bit overpriced compared to other brunch spots but ultimately we enjoyed the experience and will be back! (Total cost for two for brunch with two entrees, no apps and two alcoholic drinks: ~$80) read more

I recommend coming around this time on a beautiful Sunday. I'm excited to be out of town visiting Gambrills, Maryland. I ordered the Eggstravana: You can get the eggs the way you prefer them. The food was good and delicious. Especially the French toast, it was the best French toast I have had so far from breakfast and brunch restaurants. This is my 3rd time trying Eggspecation and I am consistently disappointed with the experience. The greeter always mis quotes the wait time making it egregiously longer than they quote after the Sunday morning rush (2:30pm). You can try your luck in the bar area, but unfortunately no kids allowed. I beg to question if they are playing favorites, as we were seated after a group we witnessed checking in 10 min after us. Once you're seated, there is no rhyme or reason, they will sit 2 people in a large booth and 5 ppl to squeeze at a table in a main walk way. It takes a while for the server to initially stop by your table so you should probably be ready with what you want to order. The kitchen is very quick, bus people are swift, and the servers are very nice and try to accommodate as much as possible. The menu options with the southern charm, tag names, and the flavors are fabulous. If you want vegan or vegetarian options, you will have to mix a match as there are no standard menu options. Drinks are delightfully themed and fairly priced. With limited brunch options, this place has so much potential. Enjoy good people! read more

Eggspectation stands among the options in the shopping area for a hot meal! Khabilah was our darling server and she was wonderful. The menu at Eggspectation spreads appetizers, sandwiches, omelets, and more! The beverage options boast an impressive array of cocktails, no drafts, and smoothies and special coffees. So much to tickle the taste buds! I tried the shrimp and crab omelette with extra crispy potatoes and it was a complete let down. The filling was off with barely any crabmeat and the shrimp bits was off putting. The pesto did not complement this ensemble... it didn't look or taste fresh. Oh, and the grease?! Meh. On the other hand, the Surf and Turf burger and salmon tacos starter were devoured. Eggspectation is a great option when in the area! Parking is ample and accessibility is a bit limited but the restaurant can accommodate where needed. read more

1/4/2025- I needed to catch up with my super booked adult niece. I asked her to choose the restaurant because she doesn't eat seafood & other things that I tend to enjoy. She selected Eggspectation and I was excited since I don't get here often enough for my taste buds. We were seated immediately despite the restaurant bustling on a winter's afternoon. I went for my usual shrimp & crab omelette & added Swiss cheese. On previous trips, I've ordered the veggie & southwest sunrise omelets, Belgium waffles, French toast, or fluffy pancakes. Everything is fresh & delicious. Eggspectation's service & comfort food are consistently good. I've never had a bad meal. If you've never tried them, what are you waiting for?!?! It was just ok. Stopped here before going to the movies for a quick bite on 2/3, and figured we'd give it a shot. The wait was around 30mins at 1pm which wasn't bad for a busy Saturday. Visited Eggspectation and it surpassed my expectations lol. It gives me a first watch feel but has its own uniqueness. It was a 20 minute wait that went by quickly but not a lot of space to wait when crowded, staff were sweet, and the bathrooms were clean. Once we got seated at our table we ordered and got our food pretty quickly. To drink we had coffee, the green light juice and Page A Tropical Paradise (all really good). Then we had the gooey goose bread which was soooo good, if you don't like sweet foods, then don't dip your bread in the glaze, but that was the best part (of course so was the bread) at our table. For our entrees we had the classic eggs benedict, cajun shrimp and grits, eggspectation omelette, Toluca Poutine, and grand marnier french toast flambé. All were so good! The potatoes that came with the Benedict and omelette were so crispy and delicious. The omelette was stuffed like you'd want it! The poutine was filled was so much flavor and a great recommendation from our waitress Karen. The shrimp and grits were good and a lightly spicy with a good amount of grits (which I was surprised given other reviews on not having enough grits). I can see what other reviewers mean in the sense that they provide so much sauce for the grits that you do want more grits but I think it was just enough of a serving size and meant to be extra saucy. We would definitely come back again, super solid spot. read more

This place used to be in Silver Spring, but... then they closed lol. After Dodgebow for a friend's birthday, we came here for 'dinner', and I was so excited! It's a huge restaurant, and we got seated in the back room, it felt so private. They have a special Fall menu right now, and I was so very close to getting the apple pie crepe. But it felt so much like dessert I was on the fence... it was either going to be that or the breakfast poutine. While deciding, I got a smoothie -- I forget the name, but it had lots of berries and mango in it. And it was fantastic, and I would've gotten a second one... but nah, enough money spent haha. For food, I decided to get the breakfast poutine, which had cheese curds, an egg, applewood bacon, chorizo, gravy, and more. It was quite delicious, and I was nothing short of satisfied. They have so many menus... the seasonal one, the breakfast one, and the lunch/dinner one. I'll be back, because there's much much more to try. By the way, given the size of our party (10), the woman taking care of us did a fantastic job. read more

This is was a quick cute restaurant to come to. It gives southern vibes and aesthetics throughout the restaurant and the menu options. I got the buffalo wings and a side of French fries (in my opinion the serving of fries was small, but it wasn't a lack of fries waiting to be eaten either). The wings were pretty good more of a dry rub than a sauce kind of wing. I appreciated the cook on the wing and the fact that they were huge but a good normal size wingette. The service was great.
