Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of treating my son, mother, and myself to one of the best Valentine's Day dinners I have had. I have to share our experience from the beginning. So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. So it bought me great joy to give my mother this experience on Valentine's day. I thank Nonna Angela's staff for such a wonderful experience. read more

My parents and I ate here for the first time. What a TREMENDOUS experience! My father had the trio Italiano, my mother had the eggplant parmesan and I had the shrimp scampi which was out of this world. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. The place was very clean and all the employees were all dressed nice and very professional. Adrian was our waitress and she was phenomenal. She filled our drinks on time and periodically checked on us. If I could give her service 10 stars I definitely would. We really enjoyed ourselves at this restaurant! The food as amazing and the sauce was homemade. The Mozzarella Fritta's were very yummy. We got the Stuffed Shells, with the vodka sauce. Our waiter recommended the vodka sauce and it did not disappoint- so good! Also, got the 7 Fish Linguine dish. Then finished with the tasty Salted Caramel layered cake special- top tier! I had heard great reviews about this place so I couldn't wait to try it out. It was my cousin's birthday and she had also been wanting to try it out. I will be back. We had a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate us on a Sunday evening for dinner. For appetizers, we had the crab bruschetta and calamari. The calamari was fried perfectly. I loved it. Then for my meal, I had the crab risotto. Chef's kiss! Although I do want to try the lobster ravioli and seafood lasagna. Our server, Felipe was amazing and extremely patient. A short drive off of Rt.450 from Rt.3 sits Nonna Angela's Italian Restaurant. My wife and I saw a billboard display for this gem of a restaurant while attending a Chesapeake Baysox baseball game and after checking out their online menu, we opted to make it our dinner destination to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! Our friendly server Adrien P. started us off with a basket of bread rolls to dip in a shallow dish of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) mixed with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic Cloves along with drinks, a glass of Prosecco for my wife and a glass of Merlot for me, while we contemplated our appetizers, and after mentioning the specials for the day, we decided to try one of those: Fried Green Tomatoes, along with a listed Antipasti option: Mozzarella Caprese. Our server Adrien P. fell into a pattern of responding with "Awesome!!!" as we told her what we wanted. She wasn't wrong, both dishes were presented well on the plate, and delicious. For the entree round, my wife selected the Pollo Limone (chicken with Angel Hair pasta) and I ordered the Trio Italiano (a combination of Lasagna, Stuffed Shell, and Eggplant Parmigiana). I continued with the flow of Merlot wine while my wife switched up to Chardonnay wine. The entrees were equally delicious. The service was swift and while crowded, the decor of various art works and pots and pans and rollers mounted on the walls, along with low operatic music really lent to a very charming dinner experience. We finished off our meals with two Tiramisu Martinis and a shared Cannoli - both of which were, to borrow Adrien' catch phrase: Awesome. We boxed up for the road what we couldn't comfortably eat, and left a well-earned generous tip, and my wife and I both agree: this may have been our first time dining at Nonna Angela's, but it won't be our last. read more

Hats off once again dear Yelp community for this wonderful Italian restaurant. We were in town for a festival a couple of months ago. Afterwards we were tired and also hungry for a good non-fast food meal. We consulted the handy dandy Yelp app, which pointed us to Nonna Angela's. The restaurant is located in a nondescript strip mall and it's easy to get to from the major roads. Plenty of free parking in the private lot out front. When we got there we were a wee bit nervous because their sign wasn't yet lit up for the evening. Fortunately, they were open. We were seated promptly in a very nice large booth - you need this for the plates! We were greeted at our table promptly and our drink order taken along with appetizers. We got the crispy Brussels Sprouts and the mozzarella 'planks'. The Brussels Sprouts were yummy, and the mozzarella sticks nice and chewy. On to our entrees. On the recommendation of the server I chose the lasagna and I am so glad I did - the pasta was thin and delicate, gravy nicely balanced and blended well with cheeses and meats. It was, in a word, divine. My sister got the gnocchi, which were quite yummy. No dessert, we were completely stuffed when we were done with our meals. The atmosphere is casual-chic and relaxed. But when our group arrived, we were denied the round table because we didn't have 6. The booth we were then led to was a disappointment after our original promise. We stopped in here after a soccer game in Bowie. Found this restaurant on Yelp. Initially we were told we would have a 45 minute wait because the place was packed. However, we were seated quickly by the manager in a first-come-first-serve booth in the bar. Perk of this was discounted crushes to drink and half price appetizers. We started our meal with the polpette casserole and mozzarella caprese appetizers. My boyfriend had the Italian wedding soup which he sails was delicious. His son ordered pollo parmigiana which came with 2 huge pieces of chicken. I ordered a margarita pizza that came with spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, and onions on top. It took 20-25 mins to get it, not sure what happened to my order. It arrived after my pollo parmigiana. I did not make a fuss over it, I just kept it and ate it. The bread was kind of hard & burnt. It didn't satisfy the craving I thought I had for it so I will pass next time. To drink, I started with a limoncello martini which was very tasty & had a glass of Riesling with my Dinner. The Pollo Parmigiana was so good. I wish I was able to order it with the angel hair pasta & veggies since they allow you to do potatoes & veggies if you choose not to order the pasta. This is a place I've wanted to try for a while and I was finally able to. Nonna Angela's did not disappoint! Nonna Angela's is a very nicely designed restaurant with nods to Italy. The decor is above the standard Italian restaurant. We sat at one of the booths in the bar area. Our waiter was AMAZING! He was friendly and personable. One of our appetizers came out late so in ensured we got the happy hour price for it. We ordered the Mozzarella Fritta, Insalata di Cesare, Gamberi Gondola, Cream of Crab soup, for our appetizers. We shared the stuffed shells. The food was amazing we enjoyed EVERYTHING! For our drinks we ordered the limoncello martini and a glass rosé. Both were delicious. Nonna's is a solid spot that I've visited several times with friends and colleagues after business events, and it never disappoints. The servers are always nice and pleasant, making for a welcoming atmosphere. Although it is a popular place (especially on Saturday nights), so we usually make a reservation for our large group, about 20 people, well in advance. They seat us comfortably in the back corner at two tables, which works out great. While the atmosphere can get a bit loud due to the crowd, it's not overwhelming like a sports bar, making it still enjoyable. The food is solid Italian fare. I've stuck to safe choices like the Spaghetti and Meatballs and Salsiccia Rustica, which have been great for my picky palate. They also serve ginger beer, but you must ask for it since it's not on the standard menu. The bathrooms are clean but small, so just keep that in mind if you're a large person. Located in a strip mall, there's ample parking and other businesses nearby. I always enjoy the area, which is conducive to a peaceful post-dinner chat outside. read more

The star of the show did not disappoint a- the Eggplants Parmesan was fresh and a solid dish. The marinara is very simple - not heavily seasoned. The shrimp on the bruschetta was unnecessary - you had to basically eat the shrimp separately bc they are served whole on top. Shrimp was a little overcooked too. Having a meal at Nonna Angela's is always a treat! We visited from California and my wife's parents took us there. Every dish was so tasty. The service was excellent, including the manager Felipe coming to make sure we enjoyed everything and even helped with our orders. I must give kudos to the chef and cooks. The fettuccine Bolognese was divine and reminded me of my trip to Italy. The lasagna was great, the trio of eggplant, Parmesan, stuffed shell, and lasagna was devine. I see why several patrons were ordering the Gamberi gondola (roasted garlic Parmesan cream sauce on chargrilled Italian bread with a fat shrimp on top of each one). I'm coming back just for that! My family and I were visiting from California. We arrived approximately 8:37pm, was seated right away. Ordered food and received our drinks. We were with a friend chatting it up, when we realized it was 10pm and we did get our food, nor the server come to the table since our drinks. My husband look for a manager, he came. But, the server came back and admitted to doing other things and forgot. He tried to take our order, because he didn't remember taking it. The manager lied and blamed it on the kitchen, instead of being forthcoming. The manager tried to make it up, by give an appetizer we never order and desserts, when he could have given it complementary or took half of the bill. He brought the bill, never even took a drink off, these were not alcoholic drinks. The server felt so bad, he wanted to pay the bill. I didn't want him to do that because his boss had the authority to make it right. This was a lesson for the server, always come back and check on your customer. I have never experienced all the way around this type and service. The manager assumes free desserts and an appetizer was going do the trick. Next ask the customer "How can we make it right." That's true customer service, not what you think it make it right. A $202 bill was nothing for you, when it comes to your establishment repetition. Do better with your future customers, we will never return, even after 10pm receiving our food. read more

Crab ravioli was good and had decent portions of crab. The fettuccine zafferano was delicious but the seafood was very minimal. I barely got any crab and only got a few shrimp and scallops. I was hoping for a better balance of pasta and seafood- it was very heavy on the pasta side and light on seafood. This didn't seem to be the case with the seafood lasagna at all. The lasagna was a pretty hefty serving with a good amount of seafood. Ambiance is your typically family style Italian restaurant. Service was good. read more

The restaurant looks homey, good for couples or families and there were a lot of people seated at the bar. Everything was delicious so much that we ordered again a few weeks later when we had craving for Italian food. We ordered the penne alla vodka and Marcello pizza both times. You must try! My mom ordered the cream of crab soup and the amount of crab to soup ratio was the right amount- glad she let me try a bite! We actually went here instead of Carrabba's and it was the best decision. I try to be real stingy about giving 5 star reviews on yelp but nonna Angela's totally deserves it. I've eaten here at least four times now and the food is consistently outstanding. The service is excellent too. The crab risotto and fettuccine zafferano are just two standout entrees among many delicious choices, and the desserts are absolutely off-the-charts fantastic. The only issue I've ever had is one time a special I ordered had a higher price on the check than what was written on the special board. But the dish was delicious, and when I pointed out the discrepancy, they promptly adjusted the bill. So I advise always to read your check carefully, and get yourself to nonna Angela's for some terrific Italian food. read more
