Pizza Wagon is a Bay Ridge institution. Not only does it predate me living in this area of Brooklyn, but it also predates me living. Many a late night have ended here, but I was in the area and due to the pandemmy, takeout options were slim. Stopped in for a pepperoni and a square. It was dinner rush, so not many options left and they were working their hardest to sling out fresh pies. The pepperoni slice I got was gigantic. The square slice was actually a tad smaller than you'd get elsewhere, but I also feel like regular square slices are unreasonably large (if you're having more than that). So all in all, not bad. Pizza is just the way I like it! Cheese all melty and crust is crispy. One of the only pizzerias that have not cut their sizes. Love them!

I made my first trip to Pizza Wagon when I arrived in NYC many years ago. The place hasn't changed one bit since my last trip. The interior of Pizza Wagon needs some love. Late night in bayridge this is definitely a great spot to grab a pizza. It's the definition of a true NY slice. I love that staff is so nice and helpful. Something is wrong with the oven. Last few times I have been there, the bottom of slices and full pies are burnt, and at the same time the top is cooked normally. Workers snap back at you if you dare mention this to them. Prices have increased to Manhattan levels as well which is just pure greed. read more

People must be out of their mind to recommend this place. Maybe it was good years ago. The inside looks exactly like the neighborhood, dingy and dirty. The regular slice was the worst I've had in years. At the first bite, you could tell it was going to be horrible, no matter how good the pictures posted on their site look. Almost any dollar slice in NY is better than this. The worst offender: the cheese. You know the difference between good grease and nasty grease, how the grease in fresh cheese on a slice tastes a certain way? And that bad grease, from cheap cheese, or cheese that is pushing an expiration date? Yeah, the latter. And the dough, dry, like someone who doesn't know how to make dough, too much flour maybe, or not enough yeast. What do I know about making pizza dough, nothing. But I sure know what tastes good and what doesn't. I would give them a pass and think maybe they had a bad day or a new guy, and try it another day, EXCEPT: as I'm eating, a guy comes around from behind the counter and pushes the garbage down in overfilled garbage can to make more room. WITH HIS HANDS. No gloves, nothing. Even if there some sink behind the counter, the guy was elbows deep into the garbage. And where does he go, back around the counter. I'm like excuse me, what? This is a must stop when in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. This is real pizza. Best pizza I've had in a loooong time after moving out of the tri state area. Just wow. I feel bad for the people who work here because they are clearly miserable with their lives. I live around the corner and I've avoided leaving a negative review despite all the rude service/being ignored in the past, but tonight just set a new low. An employee sat on the counter, looked into my eyes, and made fun of me to the other employees in Spanish, apparently either assuming I wouldn't understand or daring me to challenge him. I worked as an English translator in Oaxaca for 4 years. All the while, he and everyone else refused to otherwise acknowledge me. I just wanted a slice of pizza for crying out loud! He also said he was drunk and was clearly proud of it. Finally after standing there for 10 minutes, with 4 employees and 1 other customer waiting for his order, a guy shoved the second-to-last cold slice from the tray into a too-small bag, so it flipped on top of itself, but luckily since it was cold the cheese didn't meld together. Mind you this was at 8:30pm when they're open til 1am. There are so many better options around--I won't be back. read more

Solid and satisfying, I consider Pizza Wagon to be an old friend. Finding myself in the area, a slice of pizza came to mind for lunch. I've grown up visiting Pizza Wagon with friends (went to high school in the area) and family and their pizza was always a favorite. Pizza Wagon proudly displays a sign on the window indicating that they're the original owners and have been serving the Bay Ridge area for over 50 years!!! When I arrived, I saw trays and trays of fresh dough being prepared all by hand. I had a chat with whom I presume to be one of the owner's family members. The pride of their business was clearly obvious as he spoke. The interior was spacious and immaculate with about eight tables---however no restrooms. I ordered a regular cheese slice accompanied by a chilled diet coke. That's it. But it's all I wanted. Through the years i tried other styles/toppings as well as their calzones. As shown in my photo, their pizza stands up perfectly. No flopping over. The crust is delicious and I like the balance between the sauce and cheese. I was so excited to eat it that I burned the top of my mouth! It hit the spot. Some things never change--with Pizza Wagon that's a good thing. So good. read more

Came here on Memorial Day looking for some late night grub because everywhere was closed. I got the pepperoni and my bf got the square. I haven't had pizza in so long, I forgot what a decent slice tasted like. Pizza wagon showed me what a good New York slice should be! It also was affordable and didn't break my pocket. Long time customer. This is usually my GO TO SPOT. This last time was the last straw for me. Came here with my whole family. Kids. Brother, nieces and my father. The place was packed. There was 1 table open, we took it, another table would've been open but one of the employees was sitting down on his phone with his feet up on the chair. My father had a slice of pizza in his hand and asked him if he could sit down and eat on the other side. The man completely ignored him, my father thought maybe he didn't speak English so he asked again in Spanish, he ignored him again. My father then just sat down and ate his slice. The man literally just sat there with a nasty face the whole time. First of all WHY ARE EMPLOYEES TAKING UP CUSTOMER SEATING? The man then gets up and did the arm signal of crossing his arms telling my father to "F" off from behind the counter. The slices come now. They're burnt, I gave him back my slice and asked for a new one. He takes it and literally throws it across the back area, not sure if there's a garbage on the opposite end of the counter but he tossed it like there was. My daughter orders a square. The dough is still raw. I went up and asked for another one with cooked dough. HE CHARGED ME FOR IT... now this is the same guy I saw one time charge a man for 7 slices at the end of the night instead of just charging him for the pie that he originally wanted but they didn't have. The man literally tells him "come on man, you know me, this is a lot more money, I wanted a pie, can you charge me for a pie and I'll just take the 7 slices. He refused.... THIS ISNT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I said to myself after seeing that I would never come back BUT here I was, coming back and THIS is what I get. I love the sauce to cheese ratio. So nicely balanced. My favorite is the Sicilian Square. I enjoy when a good pizza is well balanced and seasoned well that I don't need garlic powder and red pepper flakes. These folks got it down packed over here. And I love their saying, being a Bay Ridge-inal((hope I spelled it correct lol). Excellent pizzeria, had to take my youngest daughter to see the Christmas lights and a stop to the Pizza Wagon is a must! We enjoyed ourselves very much. There is a plethora of pizza shops in the area. However, each pizza shop has a trademark slice or 'go to" pie. This pizza is the best quick slice in BayRidge. It's fast, it's cheap and it's absolutely satisfying. You cannot walk past this pizza shop without that amazing aroma pulling you in for a slice. Personally, I think the pizza here is so good because it's always fresh. They must make thousands of pies a day! Pie comes out of the oven, sliced ..sold..repeat. All in a matter of minutes. Perfect slice of pizza every time! This is my favorite pizza shop for a sit down quick slice. I've ordered a pie for delivery once and it just wasn't the same.
