Mediterranean Chicken Shawarma Plate
Hayden S.

I am the type that likes to plan out in advance where they're going to eat when they travel. I saw that Pitamore had really good reviews and it was a short walk from my hotel, so I decided to give it a try for lunch today after getting into town. I arrived probably 15-20 minutes before closing, so I wasn't surprised when they were out of lamb and also appeared low on chicken. I ended up getting the chicken shawarma plate with pita on the side. My favorite things about the meal were the eggplant and the pita bread. The eggplant seemed lightly breaded and fried and was tender and salty - very yummy! The pita bread was hearty and yet suuuuper soft and pillowy. The rest of my food (chicken, rice, veggies, sauces) was solid, but didn't exactly stand out and make me say wow. I will say, however, that the portion for me was sizable and I couldn't eat it all, so it was certainly filling. Overall, I thought the food was fine, but I wouldn't return and I'm a little surprised at how great the reviews are after trying it myself. Perhaps I didn't get the best items on the menu or it would've been better to go not so close to closing.

A few people had mentioned Pitamore as kind of a hidden gem, and when I had jury duty a few weeks ago, I thought, "Perfect!" When we got our lunch break, I walked over and made an entirely too large rice/shawarma bowl (too large because almost every topping looked great so I just saying, "and that... and that... and yes, that too..."). And it was delicious. Just like people said. I did the mixed shawarma - even the chicken was good and not dry?! The fried eggplant was delicious. The tahini was great, the pickles, the slaw, the ... everything! Finally a fast casual place where I like every topping. The pita on the side was great. It was just a great lunch. No complaints, no notes. I actually can't wait to have jury duty again?

A few minutes walk from the harbor that looks safe enough for you to visit from there. It's a small area with a few dining sets. Service is quick and food are reasonably priced for the taste. Pick an entree then pick all the sides and sauces you want. You can request sauces on the side too if you want to try some of them. They have canned drinks available too.

Mediterranean Lamb and Beef Shawarma Plate

Had a lamb bowl with fried eggplant, hummus, cucumber and tomato salad, pickled cabbage, rice, feta cheese, and tzatziki sauce. Nothing I would change about any of the sides, absolutely delicious and a huge portion!

Honestly a very solid fast casual option. I had a chicken shawarma plate with rice, fried eggplant, baba ghanoush, harissa, and garlic sauce, and it was very yummy. The chicken independently is probably fine, but the combination of everything (fried eggplant!) was very yummy. Also super delicious fries (as a brown person, I have always said that ethnic places have the best fries), and these did not disappoint. Soft and fluffy naan on the side too. Would definitely return.

Great meal, great price with fresh pita bread. Had the garlic sauce with it. Awesome. Will be back.

Visited Pitamore for the first time today since before the pandemic began-- and it was just as good as I remember! Pitamore is fast casual and build your own style place. You can start with a pita or a plate, they have great protein (and veggie) options plus UNLIMITED toppings! The lamb shawarma is my favorite & their garlic sauce is the best of the best! I was so happy that after almost 2 years the staff at Pitamore still remembered me. Such great customer service and friendly people! This is definitely a lunch time spot-- if you're in the Inner Harbor it is a great option. There is some street parking and there's also a paid garage right next door!

No real ambiance but good food and affordable. Very Good option if you have jury duty. Which if you live in the city is often!

Is it kosher and if so, who give the certification?

Hi, I’m sorry we are not kosher.

Is it halal?

No it is not halal, I’m sorry.

What's the parking like at this location?

No good parking. Its a block up from the Inner Baltimore Harbor. It is easiest if you work in the area/happen to be in the area and can walk over. Most useful to tourists/people that work in the area.

My experience was very underwhelming. The positives: I liked that there is a parking lot across the street specifically for the restaurant because street parking is very limited. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was nice and tried her best to be attentive even though the kitchen was so backed up and moving at a snails pace. The pita bread was delicious. The desserts were great. My favorites were the baklava and loukoumades. Really the only dessert I didn't care for was the chocolate rum and roses cake because I'm not a big rose fan because it has the tendency of overpowering the other flavors in certain treats. The negatives: The kitchen was very slow at getting things out, even though the restaurant wasn't packed. Aside from the desserts, I didn't care for the food. The biggest issue was everything was lukewarm by the time we received it at our table. The hummus was just ok. The bread was great alone. The Greek village salad had way more feta than anything else and needed more oil and vinegar. The spanakopita was ok but some batches came out burnt but they were never hot. The Cyprus meatballs were so burnt that we couldn't even eat them. The lamb and beef dip was too salty. The stuffed grapes leaves were just ok. The macaronia tou fournou had the potential to be really good but it was not warm enough. I want to believe it was just a bad night and maybe their food is better outside of restaurant week but I'm afraid to try again and be disappointed. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning.

One is more of an expected dining room, and the other is a table space near the bar. We were seated in the latter section. I will say this was my only minor complaint. It seems like they want to be an upscale dining experience, but the presence of TVs playing sports is killing the vibe. However, the service and food by far compensated for that. Carolyn (I believe was her name) was our server, and she was just fantastic. She was pleasant and attentive. My daughter and I split four of the mezzedes, and I ordered the mushroom soup and she ordered a side of lemon potatoes. My favorite dish was the wood-fired olives. Simple, but so very good. She loved the halloumi so much, we got a second order (it is a super small serving). The spanikopita, on the other hand, was quite large and meant for sharing. We're vegetarian and found the options both bountiful and delectable. While it is a bit on the pricey end of the spectrum, I'd say it's worth it.

Our server AJ took great care of us- they were funny, attentive and very friendly. For restaurant week the menu honestly was fantastic with many options for every person's palate and dietary preferences. I went with the octopus appetizer, squid ink bucatini with calamari, and a pound cake with lemon curd and mint whipped cream. Every single thing I had was delicious. The octopus was grilled perfectly and tender and the bean puree and potato paired nicely. The pasta was umami and not too tomatoey or acidic. My pound cake was tasty with the tanginess of the curd pairing well with the whipped cream. My boyfriend enjoyed his mushroom soup, his mushroom bolognese rigatoni( i tried this, I would absolutely order this next time)and a decadent chocolate tart. I ordered the Koobideh Kebab (ground beef), which was tender, juicy, and large. The rice also was light and flavorful. I only wish the dish came with a few veggies on the side and some tzatziki sauce but you can ask (and probably pay) for it. My friends enjoyed their salmon and lamb kebab. From the start, the server seemed pushed to sell additional items, and her attitude was off. We decided to ignore her and enjoy our meals instead. After we finished eating, she came over and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. When I said no thank you, her demeanor changed. Then I requested the bill, and she brought it. We still tried to overlook her poor attitude. I was shocked to find that she had added a 48% tip without informing me. I questioned her about the discrepancy in the bill amounts compared to the previous one. She said she needed to check and would get back to me, but when she returned, she concocted a story claiming she had charged my card for another tap. Which could have happened, but she just brought it without checking. When I asked if she had double-checked before bringing the bill to me, she remained silent and just looked at me. Strangely, the manager never approached us to apologize; he just observed from a distance. Which was very funny, I have never felt like this before. Given the similar reviews I had seen, I didn't believe her story. I will never return to this place, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in town. There are many other options available. No matter how nice the decor was, needing my coat and scarf to eat indoors was ridiculous. You see the reason we weren't seated in the warmer section (the hostess's words) was because the owner told her to seat us elsewhere. We learned that he was the owner when our waitress gave us rice pudding from Rudy. We didn't complain and that pudding almost earned the star back. One thing I noticed about the customer service was that I was asking a lot of questions because of an allergy, but the server kept looking at and speaking to the other person at the table. Fortunately the server appeared to be knowledgeable and helped me eliminate some dishes. The unsweetened iced tea came without any sugar packets and mostly ice. Tea quality was very good. The baba ghanoush was fine. More tahini, less salt and smoky flavor than preferred or used to. The trouble started with the entrees. Besides the hidden pita, the food was unseasoned and the Doner meat was neither crispy nor tender. The lamb shish kebab was very tender. The rice was very buttery but was undercooked and inedible. It was the most seasoned food that day. When we were finally to bring the seasoning and rice issues up, we did not get great solutions. We asked for but never received grilled onions. For example, we asked for another (starchy) side besides rice but got more rice. We were offered sautéed vegetables, which were frozen except for some red peppers. When I discovered I was allergic to the entree despite asking and explaining, the server cut me off and wanted to leave before I finished talking. Even after the food allergy debacle, it was almost another forty minutes to get the bill and get the payment back. I never got the rice pudding that came with my meal special. Went somewhere else down the way after over two hours for a late lunch since all I had was some of the baba ghanoush with veggies and side salad. The food was not seasoned well despite being mostly fresh; the service was dour and inattentive after the first interaction; and it was unhelpfully slow despite being one of three small tables at its busiest.
