Great prices and lots on the menu to select from. I've been going to the PitStop with my family for about a year. What has happened to the quality? In the last three months we've tried different times of day. Dinner- had the hamburger and it was horrible. The meat was cold, and was seriously about an 1/8th of an inch thick. It has changed significantly from a year ago. Breakfast- ordered the eggs and pancakes and the pancakes were nasty. They were fluorescent yellow and tasted odd. They were hard, couldn't even cut them. Asked the server if she could substitute and she said yes, potatoes would be the substitution. Got those but they were cold. Didn't have the heart to send them back. I typically never send things back or write a review that is bad. Is there a change in owners at the PitStop? I have a hard time recommending it any longer. read more

I've frequented this but that will probably change after eating breakfast on 3/1! I could not believe my eyes when some idiot brought in her dog and was feeding her dog from the table. Came here with my husband. We were looking for a good breakfast spot with a wide variety on their menu. The young lady taking our order was friendly and helpful. The menu was a typical dinner menu. I ordered sausage and eggs with an English muffin and potatoes , eggs over easy. The eggs were good added some salt and pepper and it was great. The potatoes were bland and stale, and the sausage was way over cooked, producing a gummy chard texture. My husband ordered short stack and chorizo burrito. The pancakes were "alright", and the burrito was bland and dry. He tried adding some salsa but it too was bland. We probably will not be back, but again they did have great service. read more

I love this place. We get to eat out without really breaking the bank. The place is spacious. The service is fast. Customer service is great. I always order the fish and chips with fried zucchini no salt. Kids meal doesn't look like kids meal. They're big. read more

Was definitely a good place before, now not so much. Went today for lunch got overcharged, got a partial refund and then they said we didn't charge you enough for your fries, I said what? They said yes sorry you can either pay the difference or we have to take the fries back. They took the fries. Can you believe that? Then they refunded me the difference. Great little burger joint. Good american food! The burgers are huge! They give you a good amount of food for a low price. Food was not good. The empty tables during dinner rush should have been a hint of the food quality. There was four people in our party and nobody liked what they order. We order Chicken strips, carne asada nachos, biscuits and gravy and Angus beef burger. It has been at least a year since our last visit to Pit Stop Diner and we decided to try it again this past Sunday. Unfortunately, our visit was sub par due to the lack of excellent customer service. The food was fine, however, the order was incorrect and we were charged $2.10 for bread to go with the salads. The woman at the register who took our order initially tried to charge me $25 for 2 salads and she wasn't planning on explaining why 2 $6 salads suddenly turned into $25! When I inquired about the ridiculous price she told me that they now over charged for everything, (for example, they now charge $3 for bacon, "because they put two slices of bacon on the salad"). Somehow two chicken salads with avocado still ended up at $21 and when I checked the receipt, it was because the woman charged me for the complimentary bread, as well as being charged for an extra ranch. Overall I found this experience to be extremely unpleasant. I ordered both salads without eggs and both came with eggs. The avocado on both salads was hard and disgusting, the lettuce was wilted and the tomato was non-existent. Although the salads were extremely overpriced, the excessive cost could have been accepted if the salads were amazing but unfortunately, they were not. Unnecessarily expensive food + incorrect orders = negative experience and I won't visit this establishment again. Whatever they were doing when they first opened, they need to invest in that again and bring back the excellent customer service and correct orders. Until then, 1 star is probably too generous for the service and food received on Sunday. read more

We went to this place Wednesday night and it was packed. You order at a register and then they bring your food out to you. The food was really good and they brought it out relatively fast considering how many were packed into this place trying it the first time. Granted you dont get waited on like someone else pointed out but at half the price and just as good(if not better) quality food how can you complain? I definitly recomment this place. If you don't like a fun, relaxed, family style diner, this is not the place for you. If you love fried good old fashioned diner food, great service and license plates on the walls, this is definitely your place. I eat here at least once a week and have done so for several months. Not once have I had a terrible service or bad food. There is no place like it and when chatting with the employees, they were all smiles and "love" their jobs. The owner is definitely doing something right with this place. The prices are unbelievably low considering the large amount of food you get. I accidentally ordered the wrong item (my mistake not theres) when the food came out and I saw the Patti Melt and not the tuna melt I went back up to the counter. The guy (I think he was the manager) was soo nice. I told him I had made a mistake and would like the Tuna Melt instead (which they don't sell, but that's okay) He was so nice even though it was my mistake he told me I could exchange it for anything else on the menu. I decide to try the patti melt instead and it was delicious! He came over later and asked if everything was okay or if there was anything else he could get me. Nice environment. However, Terrible hamburgers. Where's the beef? That should say it all. Soggy bread on burgers due to excessive condiments and fixing. Burgers fall apart before you can even get started. Patty are super thin and dry. Fries are soggy too. Zucchini fries however were very good. I give Pit Stop two thumbs up! I had the signature "Pit Stop" burger, it came with bacon, avacado, and sautéed mushrooms. Easily the best burger I have ever had for less than 5 bucks and my family loved their burgers aswell. We also throughly enjoyed the sampler platter of fried zucchini, mushrooms, and of course classic french fries. I will defiantly be coming back again and bringing friends. read more

My husband and I went here this week and we were really looking forward to it. The service was alright but not great. The lady at the counter did not want to take any time to help explain the menu even though the menu items had no descriptions. We ordered our food and sat down. Our food came quickly, but my husbands milkshake didn't come. He had to stand in line again and remind the people at the counter. And the worst part was that our food was unbelievably bland. The burger tasted alright but it was not really good quality. The bun fell apart, and there was way too much lettuce in it. I had the fried mushrooms which were completely tasteless. It was like eating nothing. My husband got fried zucchini and it was tasteless as well. We ended up leaving with our plates both 75% full. We didn't even bother grabbing to go boxes. I would not come here again. It was a waste of money, and we ended up leaving hungry and disappointed. read more

I absolutely love this place. I have had the mushroom cheeseburger, a cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce, a bacon avocado wrap, fried mushrooms, and my absolute fave the zucchini fries!!! Most things on the menu are not healthy, and probably half are deep fried but it is so delicious. Also it is sooo cheap! I can feed a family of 4 for $20. read more

Went to the Pit Stop Diner this evening and what a surprise! The place has been sold and now everything has changed. The prices have gone up and they no longer offer a senior discount on weekends when a lot of seniors go out for dinner. The place was not as clean as it was before and we had to stand in line for a longer time than usual because they only had one person taking orders while the young girl at the other register was taking on the phone. We have been going to Pit Stop Diner ever since it opened and have been very satisfied with the food quality, the prices and the people working there. It was good to see a business finally making it at that location, but if the new owners don't get the message they too will be losing business and have to close. I did not see any senior patrons eating there tonight and usually a Sunday evening has lots of seniors there at 6:00pm. When I was told by the person waiting on us that a lot of people are complaining, we decided to walk out. I will pass this experience on to our car club, as we all go there quite often, but I am sure that will change now. The old owners also have a diner in San Marcos, CA called The Money Pit and we will drive the extra couple of miles to patronize them. read more

My husband, my two little boys, and I went here for lunch today and it was so yummy! My boys LOVED the decorations and the huge car in the middle of the restaurant. All the tables had cool stuff to look at under the glass table top for the kids and grown ups. The food was so inexpensive but sooooo good. I got the turkey melt with fries and it was huge so i shared it with my toddler who also loved it. Hubby got a big salad and my preschooler got a corn dog. The fries were too many so two people really can share one order. THen we got icecreame cones for about 1.40 or 1.60 or so (can't remember) but they were stuffed and more than I could eat! What a fun place and a great value!!!! We are going back to celebrate a family thing tomorrow and will be taking my parents too. This will be a place that we visit each month for sure. I think the corn dog was around 1.80 maybe less...Anyhow, it will be nice to pop in and grab a treat for my little guys after a day of running errands with mommy:) Go try it out!!!! read more

Absolutely love this place!! Been there every few days since it opened up. Tried breakfast and lunch. The greek tavern salad is awesome! The burgers are delicious! And my favorite is the triple wreck melt, gotta try it! I hope this place sticks around and they keep their reasonable prices. Their sister company the Money Pit is great too, in San Marcos. Have been waiting for months for this to open. Stopped by after church, just before the lunch rush. We were greeted warmly. The hardest part was figuring out what to order. I had the Outlaw (Bacon Cheesburger), onion rings and soda combo, my daughter had the chicken strip combo. We were served quickly and abundantly, portions were perfect. Only 2 suggestions, slightly larger burger and descriptions of the less obvious menu items. Overall, the ambiance, food and service deserve all 5 stars. Loved the pickled peppers. I live in Oceanside but used to drive to San Marcos to go to money pit all the time. Since I discovered pit stop, I don't have to do that anymore! The food and menu is nearly the same and I love having this restaurant close by. I usually get the grilled chicken salad but the French fries are to die for! read more
