Back in the SD area means a mandatory visit to The Taco Stand. The Cali burrito (substituting for al pastor is a GAME CHANGER) will always be my go-to, but the mar y tierra burrito is up there too. They never skimp out on the meat! Great prices, generous portions, and delicious flavors as usual. Every made-to-order item tastes consistently fresh. The salsa bar was well stocked and clean. Don't skip on the chipotle sauce and cilantro crema, which elevate every bite no matter what you put it on. This Oceanside location is my new favorite; I've visited the Encinitas and North Park locations and the food quality was equally as good, but the parking, ambiance, and amount of seating (both indoor and outdoor) are overall better at this one. There is a small parking lot area and street parking is also available. We came on a busy Friday evening with the line way out the door, but found street parking pretty easily. Aside from the amazing food, the employees are always incredibly kind and welcoming which makes the entire dining experience worth the wait!

Super delicious tacos, loaded fries and a salsa bar?? Say no more. Service was super friendly and we showed up for our first visit on our drive home and it must've been the perfect time. We easily parked and there wasn't a line. We tried the asada tacos and the shrimp and steak fries.. yuuuumm the food is so fresh and so tasty! The freshness of the guac and salsas to add on top. Doesn't get any better. Seating inside and outside, super causal vibes and not far from the beach! Perfect.
I wanna keep this short and simple. My husband and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to have some tacos I had 2 carne asada and 1 Al pastor. These tacos were delicious very authentic. The tortilla does seem to rip easily but they are delicious regardless. The service was great.
Came for lunch time on a Saturday luckily it wasn't so busy, I got a mar y Tierra taco & a tostada off the specials menu and we also got a California burrito. I also tried the elote that was actually my favorite thing I had it was made perfect with all the fixings, Everything came out fresh & flavorful and the salsa bar is very yummy! The seating area was a bit small and it echos very loudly inside overall it's a yummy quick lunch/dinner spot for summertime!

We left home too late on our trip to San Diego and got hungry while driving through Oceanside. Being a "tacos- any-day" kind of couple, we stopped at the Taco Stand for a quick lunch. Located at the south end of the city, the stand alone restaurant had its own parking lot large enough for 20 cars. Inside, the combo of tables and counter could accommodate 30 guests, and there was also outdoor seating for 30 more. The line was long but it moved pretty fast. The overhead menu by the cashier was simple and easy to understand. For this visit, we ordered 6 different tacos (corn tortillas only) and they were ready in about 15 minutes: Pescado (Mahi Mahi) and Shrimp Tacos: Both tacos came with pleasantly creamy sauce similar to Thousand Island, plus chopped tomatoes, cabbage, and a slice of avocado. Both fish and shrimp pieces were fresh and with very nice textures. Carne Asada and Pollo Asado Tacos: The beef (carne asada) was soft and perfectly seasoned, and the slightly charred chicken (pollo asado) was tender and savory. The creamy avocado and chopped fresh onions went extremely well with the tacos. El pastor Taco: This was my favorite taco. The marinated pork meat was tender and succulently fatty. The creamy sauce with pineapple bits gave a nice counterbalance to the meat. Mushroom: The sauce was flavorful, and the sauteed mushrooms had a nice texture and were quite juicy. The slice of avocado gave the taco a nice creaminess. Overall, a very nice meal and totally worthy of repeating.
This place is always so tasty! And has pretty fast service. I usually get the california burrito and it's so filling but this time I opted for the tacos & they were just as good! I tried the grilled fish & shrimp tacos. It was so fresh & the sauce on them complimented it well. The staff is always friendly & helpful! I will definitely keep coming back!
Service is good, place is clean, fun spot to go and chill. Food seriously lacks flavor. I like the tortilla they use for their burritos and the crispy fries are good. They ran out of chips at 4pm. And they weren't making anymore. I wouldn't come here again. I got the California burrito and the carne asada. The California burrito was small needed seasoning. The Carne asada burrito was bigger but they put sauteed vegetables and all the juice from the veggies made the burrito completely soggy and wet. I just removed the tortilla and ate it with a fork. Both burritos needed seasoning
First time trying this location. One thing that needs major improvement is the seating. There is just not enough. I know they make everything made to order but they do take a bit to get your order, so don't come here if you are in a hurry. We had a party of 7 and we ordered chicken tacos, chips and guac, asada tacos and drinks. Food was ok, not the must go to spot but decent. Pricing is a bit high as well. Will this be the new go to? Probably not. Maybe a once a year spot? Yes. Needs better parking, better seating, and to speed up their cook line.
Went here based on my college student niece recommendation. The students aren't wrong, this place was yummy. Since it was a semi big group of us I got to try a little of everything . The tacos were good I tried chicken and steak, steak was better of the two to me. I also got to try a few different salsa with chips - solid salsa bar. I also got an elote which was meh mushy and overcooked. Finally, we shared a few orders of churro with dip it was super delicious. I'm going to remember that one. Also the young people working here were friendly and pleasant despite having a big line. Thanks kids!

The menu is simple in a good way. Good selection of tacos, burritos, specials, drinks, and some side dishes. Standard San Diego taco shop at the beach ambiance. The staff is incredibly hard working. I don't recommend going during rush hour, lines are long. read more
Great spot!!!!! Man, their tortillas are fire; fr, fr, fr. The meat in the carne asada burrito was personally tough to chew on and it didn't have much flavor, dinging my score for their food to a 4/10; tbh. The vibes were high. There is convenient and complimentary parking which is a plus! I love the setup, it makes me feel like if I was in Mexico without the hassle of making the drive/ flight. The service was PHENOMENAL! I didn't make the effort to try all of their salsas, the three I tried were not good. The place was poppin', and we were lucky to score the best seats in the house. If only they could improve their salsa recipes and invest in quality meat, this place's profit would break the charts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
We came here for lunch on a Sunday and scored parking right in front. Also got lucky and beat the lunch rush as a long line formed right after we ordered. I got a Camaron ($4.69) and Al Pastor ($3.99) Taco with the Carne Asada Fries ($10.59) to share. The tacos are filling and I like all the variety of toppings it includes. Of course there's still a salsa bar for more. The fries are good for two and I like how they use nacho cheese on top of the sour cream, guacamole, and meat. It was nice to get a good amount of everything in every bite. This spot has indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect on a nice day out. There's a small parking lot as well. Delicious and affordable Mexican food with various locations throughout SoCal. read more

Ordered at the counter. Place was loud so hard to hear the repeated order. Sat outside on the patio. Choices shade, or the sun. The food took a while to come out, but it was delicious. The tortillas are made to order. Plenty of salsa choices to choose from. The shrimp burrito was more than enough for one person. Each of us had two tacos and they were plentiful. The bag of chips was huge and we made a dent with five people and took the rest home. read more

The first time I came here, it was fantastic. The second time, they were just as busy as the first but somehow they left major ingredients out of my order and it really soured my evening. But I guess it's a good habit to check to-go orders regardless. I ordered Mar y Tierra fries and they completely left out the shrimp. I also ordered a carne asada quesadilla and added nopales that were left out. While the food wasn't bad, it's just not the same with missing ingredients, especially when you pay extra for those ingredients. read more
I have been wanting to come here hearing the rave about this taco stand. I know they have one in Encinitas but I was in Carlsbad and saw they opened new one in Oceanside. This is the Oceanside location. The food was delicious! Although at beginning price seems high for a piece but the quantity they put on each one was very decent. We ordered the following: pescado taco (mahi mahi fish), carne asade taco, al pastor taco, al pastor burrito, carne asada tostada. We find the al pastor the best and very tasty! They also have salsa bar and we like their salsa Verde, chipotle sauce, and Pico de gallo. Indoor and outdoor seating. Love the Latino music playing, makes me feel like no need to travel to Mexico. What is awesome about this place is they make their tortillas fresh! They have a machine that makes it and immediately puts them on the grill. Their tortilla chips are also freshly made too! The guy behind the kitchen was very sweet! He was so nice to let me take pictures and he gave a free fresh tortilla off the grill to try. I felt bit shy but humbly accepted it. While we were waiting, he was so kind to give us a box of tortillas to eat while we waited for our food. Also, we were missing one fish tacos and he was so nice to give me an extra one for their mistake. I will be back for sure not only good staff but great fresh tacos and burritos. THE TACO STAND was busy late Saturday afternoon when we stopped by. that's (almost) always a good sign. place is open, clean, well organized, and the staff is friendly and engaging. the wife unit raved about her tacos (sautéed mushrooms and carne asada) but my BAJA BURRITO (fried fish, cabbage, chipotle crema, and salsa fresca) was no bueno. there was only one texture (mushy) and zero flavor even with the chipotle crema and a squeeze of lime. being our first visit, I checked out what everybody else was eating (we ate outside on the patio) and everything looked amazing so I'm gonna fall and the sword here and blame my ordering. should have leaned into the old standbys and gone a little less risky. should have skimmed the reviews more carefully. an awful lot of the recent five-star reviews are from Yelpers with only one review and no profile photo. will know better next time. ps: they have beer and make churros to order !!! read more

Been here a few times since they opened. I us to go to the Encinitas one. I love the tacos. This location is a bit challenged. You ordered yr food and it takes about 30 minutes to get. Fish in my tacos was under cooked. Not the best to say the least. Decided to try again. This time I pre ordered online. They were busy as always. Confusing for sure on how to pick up online orders. Got in the long line w/ all the other peep i see picking up. Why pre ordered if u have to wait in line at the register? Grab my tacos togo. Cold and soggy. Disappointment!! Just no organization and very dirty. Clean the tables and empty the trash please. Sure they are limited to staff and hours. I see the employees working non-stop. As a business u should take care of yr team and in return they will take care of yr customers. read more
Service is not good (They lost my order). I had already tipped and now I won't tip for food that hasn't already been served. They should not have a tip option before you get your food. I had read reviews of them losing orders thinking that wouldn't happened to me but they did. We waited in a small line, got to the front and had to wait more then placed our order After 30 minutes of waiting for our food (a day it was not crowded) and seeing many people who arrived after get there i asked and sure enough they had lost our order. Food was fine, service ruined the experience, next time I hope it's better read more

Probably one of the Top 5 Taco places in San Diego... and that says a lot since we have thousands! Who cares about ambience when it comes to tacos! I ordered the el pastor tacos- they were flavorful, fresh, (the tortillas are hand made there) and not too oily, I specifically travel around looking for the best el pastor tacos I got like a thing for them right now.. anyways these were damn good tacos! Also let me add the kid at the front and the rest of the staff they were all kind, helpful and friendly! So thank you for that Come check them out if you're in the area! pretty fantastic! read more
Tasty tacos. The flavors were great, albeit a bit on the saltier side. The paper thin fresh corn tortillas and creamy cilantro salsa were fantastic. Skimpy tacos. While it tasted good, the portions were small like mini 2-3" tacos. They flatten the tortilla and it looks like a 4-5" taco, but they pinch the ends flat and don't fill it, so the amount of protein in the pic is literally all the protein, nothing stacked behind that. The Baja fish taco was also mostly batter. I usually eat two tacos per meal, but would need four here. Long wait times. We thought we got lucky and only had one order before us. But turns out there was a huge backlog, and it took 40 minutes to get our order. They were up front that there was a 20-25 minute wait, so we browsed Mark Wahlberg's Municipal store next door. Indoor air conditioned and outdoor seating was plentiful with quick turnover. Overall, good tacos, but not really worth the wait and the value is not quite there. read more
