While looking for a lunch spot while in the area, I opted for this bbq restaurant that I had bookmarked some time ago. Pit Master BBQ is located in a large shopping center in the center of the complex and has plenty of parking spaces available. Inside its nicely decorated in a country/western bbq theme and offers table service with two indoor dining sections and a covered outdoor space too. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken plate for $13 that comes with two side dishes and went with the beans and potato salad. A slice of Texas Toast is included. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes. The 1/2 chicken was juicy, smokey and flavorful and I was pleased with this bird taste wise and size wise. The beans had a nice savory flavor to them and I wanted more. Finally the mayo based potato salad was cool and creamy with a smooth tasting flavor. The table service was friendly and attentive and I enjoyed the background music too. For some reason when I walked in I expected a 3 level meal which is common for many BBQ restaurants in Houston but this meal was better and deserves a 4. Serving portions were large, the food tasted very good and the cost represented a lot of value. I would be happy to return to Pit Master BBQ.

Decent BBQ but nothing distinctive. I had a two meat plate with brisket (asked for moist) and sausage. Did like that the meat came lightly sauced with more sauce at your discretion but the meat while high quality, really didn't strike me as moist. The sausage was good but unsauced. Sides were bbq beans and potato salad. The beans were okay but could have been from a can. The potato salad was tasty, perhaps the most unique of the night. Good place to stop. -

What do you do when you love everything but the food? Kitchy atmosphere. Great service. Music!!! Sadly, the chopped brisket BBQ was a fail. Looked like they sliced boiled brisket into thick rubbery cubes. No smoky flavor. Chopped Brisket is supposed to be CHOPPED, like a chopped salad. It is so tender, as you chop it falls apart into little pieces, not cubes. This is BAD

They put it in a to go box, probably because they didn't think I'd finish it and they were right. Lol The brisket was excellent. Juicy, flavorful and I was surprised that the burnt bark parts weren't completely dried out. The ribs were tasty as well with a sweet, black pepper blend and they almost fell off the bone. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. The only slight complaint I have is that the music was a tinge loud but I was sitting in a corner. This wasn't enough for me to take their any of their 5 star rating away though!

However, from the lackluster flavors, poor marbling of the beat, and lack of air conditioning in HOUSTON, I was left feeling quite disappointed. The main star of any Barbecue joint should be the meats that have been meticulously worked on for many hours. When the star of the show are the sides, you have a problem. The baked beans, mac and cheese, collared greens, and Brussels sprouts are delicious, as expected. The brisket was absolutely dried to the point where I couldn't tell if I was wiping my mouth with a napkin or the brisket. Yes, I ordered it fatty. The ribs were terribly marbled. If one bite was a dry portion of the rib, the other bite was an entire glob of fat. Perhaps that's how ribs are sometimes, but my experiences with many other Barbecue joints in Houston were not so much that. Take your hard-earned money and try some of the local mama/papa joints Houston has to offer.

We came a little earlier and there was already a long line. I heard that if you order in advance, you can skip the line. While you wait, the employees walk around and you can order a drink. Which is nice if you're waiting a while and it gets hot. The employees were all very nice and ambiance is how you would expect a regular bbq restaurant to be. There are plenty of seating outside but limited inside. The seats are all first come first serve, so usually the inside seating runs out first. We ordered 1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb sausages, and some sides like Mac&cheese, beans, loaded potato, cobbler, etc. total was about $120 after tip. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. I was still a great experience and very delicious. I highly recommend to try if you're in the area.

Since they were awarded their Michelin star, I've been wanting to try CorkScrew... in particular,…read moretheir beef rib. Beef ribs are my go to bbq protein, and not many places have them. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!

Great value for time/money I stopped in at 3rd coast BBQ on a Thursday at lunchtime. There was a little parking, but not a massive amount. There was almost no line at all when we got there - I think we waited for about 10 min & waited another 10 for our food. The food itself was really good! They had a large menu & I thought the prices were very reasonable. For 3 meats and 3 sides it was about $50. We got two ribs, brisket (mixed) and the cheddar and jalapeño sausage links. Everything was pretty yummy. I thought the brisket was nice and tender while still having some great flavor. Both the fatty and lean brisket were pretty good. The ribs were super tender and the flavor was smoky and sweet. The sausage links were decent. I will say the food wasn't quote corkscrew level, but was still pretty solid. The ambiance here was really great. I liked the outdoor patio vibe & really homey feel. I liked the tin roof (it rained while we were there & I loved the sound!) & there was plenty of seating. Full of brisket and sausage its pretty damn good. The jalapeño sausage is a great, perfect grind size and coarseness. Sides are above average. For me hands down the cajun potato salad is the best I tried today. My dining partner raved about the collard greens and coleslaw. While it has moved from its previous Top 50 ranking, the food remains a great experience. The brisket was deliciously smoked, though I found the bark to be a little too salty for my taste. Despite that, the meat itself was fantastic. The ribs were hearty and very tender, and the pork belly had a nice flavor, but was a little on the dry side. The pork belly burnt ends were a unique treat. They were covered in a spicy barbecue sauce, which was a pleasant surprise since I usually prefer a fruity base like peach or apricot. The absolute standout was the sausage. It was a perfectly cooked, double-grind sausage with a delicious chili relleno taste. It was cheesy and had an excellent flavor that made it one of my favorite sausage offerings to date. For the sides, the carrot soufflé was a highlight. It was delicious with a smooth texture and only a hint of carrot, making it an excellent and unique side. To top it all off, there's a chocolate shoppe attached to the restaurant, so a chocolate dessert is an absolute must after your meal. Went back about two weeks ago on a whim and I've already been back twice since. The BBQ is legitimately exceptional now. The burnt ends are amazing--tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The cheesesteak is awesome, the turkey is surprisingly moist and tasty, and the overall quality is way higher than I remembered. A couple small notes: the poblano sausage was a bit too cheesy for my taste, and the mac and cheese has crushed tortilla chips on top that feel unnecessary (though the base is still solid). Must-orders: Get the chicharrones and queso and ask for a side of Tajín to sprinkle on top--it takes it to another level. The jalapeños at the condiment station are pure fire and delicious. They also have a full bar, so chilling with a cold beer and some top-notch BBQ is the move. The chocolate truffles at the counter are fantastic--you really can't go wrong with any of them. They also have specials if you order four or more items, which is a nice touch. Plenty of seating inside or outside, and there's ample parking right across the street. If you haven't been in a while (or ever), do yourself a favor and give them another shot. I'm glad I did. Solid 4 stars.
