This was my first time eating texas bbq and I was extremely surprised. This restaurant is hidden away on a small road between a few car shops, giving it a cozy vibe. The seating area is decorated with nostalgic pieces of art and furniture. The ribs were the best part of the meal with brisket being a close second. The meat is tender and juicy and fall apart easily. The beans carried solid flavor and the potatoes gave the meal more bulk I would gladly come back to this place if I was ever in the area

Couldn't find an authentic BBQ location open early enough until I came across Gessner's. Before 11am there are only 3 items available. We had the breakfast brisket taco, delicious. We also ordered the brisket hash with medium eggs, delightful. It was just enough BBQ for breakfast to not make me feel heavy. Cody was a great host. Very hospitable and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone. Wish I could have tried lunch options but maybe next time. Definitely worth stopping by!

Finally found a great bbq joint in Houston. Brisket is quality size, hot & not too fatty. Sausage variety is garlic or jalapeño/cheese. As good as Jack Stacks in KC.

Why 5 stars? Because they have a cumulative 5 stars and I can't argue with that. --- --- --- Gessner's has been on my list for a while but it was about a 35 minute drive from my house, so I finally just made it there recently. As you're driving up, you definitely seem like you're in the wrong place. It's pretty industrial and just looks like you're in the midst of a bunch of automotive shops. The only tell is that they have a fairly large "BBQ sign" off the main road that you turn onto off Sawdust. We ordered food to go and then headed to the park to eat it there while our son played on the playground. While this was not something Gessner's did, the weather was absolutely perfect on this day, so that made the experience *that* much nicer. As for the food itself, I went with the loaded baked potato with chopped beef. It was excellent. One of the better loaded baked potatoes I've had, and there are many in the area. The only two snafu's were that my wife did not receive BBQ sauce with her brisket sandwich, even though it was requested, which made it a bit dry. And they did not provide us with plastic cutlery, so we had to pop into another restaurant to grab some. For dessert, we had the banana cream pie cake and Oreo truffles. They were also awesome. The banana cream pie cake was just what it sounds like: banana cream pie on top of cake. Usually, it's just in pie form, but the cake on the bottom layer was a nice touch. The Oreo truffle was almost too quickly scarfed down to have much of an opinion other than: "good". If we lived closer, we would make this a regular stop, but we'll happily visit again when in the area.

My friend recommended this restaurant. It's off of Sawdust & feels like your in the country. I had the brisket breakfast taco & must say, it was The BEST taco! They were fast, $3.99 for a huge taco & so nice! The smell of smoked meats is so yummy too! I'll be back! Thank you for a great experience!

Wow! Some of the best food I've ever had. Came here with friends on a Monday afternoon to grab some BBQ. You have to make sure to pay attention while driving to this location or you might miss the turn. I decided to order the 2 meat platter and added the garlic sausage. The ribs literally fell off the boom and were seasoned to perfection. Just writing this makes me want some. The sliced brisket was very flavorful and the BBQ sauce was a perfect mix of sweet and tangy. I decided to have the slaw and potato salad. Both very delicious as well. When visiting my sister this will become a frequently visited spot. If you haven't been here yet, definitely check it out. You won't be disappointed.

This is one of the best food I had during my stay in the Woodlands for the past 5 days! The taco really hit the spot and is very filling. There's a generous amount of brisket and it's not dry at all. It's juicy and flavorful with the cheese. The hash gives a bit of a crispy crunch if you eat it at the spot. The egg is perfectly pan fried and the flour tortilla just hold everything nicely all together. The salsa and the bbq sauce on the side elevated the flavor. There's a lot going on in this taco but it's not messy at all since the cheese hold everything together. The staff are very nice and the service is fast. Highly recommend this place if you are in town!

I get excited about Texas BBQ when I'm back in my home state. This morning I had a breakfast taco that was a thing of beauty. Griddled tortilla, amazing brisket, and the way the egg was cooked to wrap around it meant a perfect bIte, every bite. Plus these guys were so friendly! Definitely worth checking out.

We were going to another bbq place for lunch, but it was closed. So a quick Yelp review and we found this place. Glad we stopped by!!! It's hidden off of Rayford Rd, but I love its ambience. I feel like we're in the Texas hill country. We both tried a two meat plate, the ribs fell of the bone. Just how I like it! The sides, potato salad unique take and the coleslaw had jalapeños in it. Yum! The service was great! They'd stop by to check on you, bring extra bbq sauce and clear your plate. Highly recommend, because we'll definitely be back!!

I was in The Woodlands when I got a suddenly got an intense craving for BBQ. So I hopped on our go-to food app (Yelp) and found this place. It was a little bit hidden off the main road.. kinda in the middle of the warehouse space to an automotive shop. I wasn't too sure what to expect when I was pulling up, but I quickly found myself greeted by staff. I ordered brisket plate and had a seat. I always judge a BBQ place by the BBQ sauce and it did not disappoint. The BBQ sauce had a Smokey taste with a hint of spice and the perfect amount of tanginess. I could have sat there and drank a few packs of it.. don't worry! I didn't. The brisket had a thick layer of fat down the side of the cut with a caramelized char all over it. All I can say is WOW! Melts in your mouth and just packed with so much flavor. If you go get BBQ here, I suggest the Texas coleslaw. It barely has any cabbage in it because it's too packed with other awesome ingredients like fresh corn, finely diced fresh jalapeños, and all the right seasonings. The baked beans were insanely good, too. If I didn't order baked beans, I would have thought the chef brought me a cup of chopped bacon! The baked beans were the best beans I've ever had in my life. My fiancé ate all of them and he can't stand baked beans. But he said these baked beans was his favorite part of the meal. They had the same great flavor of the BBQ sauce, but they were very meaty and hearty. Covered with a thick layer of bacon. Highly recommend! Oh and they said they are connected to the auto shop as business partners as well.. with a claim to have the best prices in town. Check it out! Get an oil change and indulge in some really great Texas bbq!

OMG!!!! Absolutely some the best bbq I've tasted!!!! We tried to order yesterday but because of the holiday and the fact there was a big storm they weren't open. Luckily for me they were open today. My last meal in Texas was at Gessner's!!! I placed a tog order for a 2 meat plate. Lean Brisket and St louis Ribs with a side of baked beans and creamed corn. The brisket was super moist and perfectly cooked. I love the rub they use. It has a little hint of heat just a little. The ribs we the same with a tiny bit of sweet. The one and only sauce they have has a little of heat and sweet although the rub on the meat was enough without the sauce. The baked beans would win competitions!!!! The creamed corn was just as good with a little kick. I wished I wasn't leaving early in the morning. They also have some breakfast items. Awesome experience and food!!!! 5 Stars is well deserved read more

Stopped by for lunch based on the good reviews. Contrary to popular opinion, it was disappointing for me. The brisket I got didn't look fresh, the bark resembled the texture of having been microwaved. They initially forgot about the beans I ordered but rectified upon request. Counter service. Outdoor seating only. Parking limited. read more

Love this place and the story behind it. The guy who owns it also owns the machine shop it shares a parking lot with. If you like jalapenos you'll love his sides. He uses them in his cream corn(my personal favorite), potato salad and his coleslaw. The meat brisket B+, Ribs A, Chicken A+, Sausage A, burgers(have yet to experience) Baked Beans and Banana pudding cake A. Really nice guy and has a covered porch and picnic tables to eat at. Well worth the visit. OMG, I almost forgot my one of my faves. The OVERSIZED LOADED BAKED POTATO. This is definitely the place to order it just make sure you are H-U-N-G-R-Y not for people who are to watch their weight and great for student athletes that need the calories. Just note hours of operation because pretty sure he takes weekends off. read more

Just found this place. It's not a large menu, which is a good sign to me. I tried the daily special of Burnt End Tacos. Very good. I will be back soon. I'm surprised I haven't heard about Gessner Grubb BBQ before. Can't wait to try other items. read more

We ordered takeout..., brisket, 2 kinds of sausage, Coleslaw, potato salad and beans. BEST brisket we've ever had! The sides were unique recipes that were just excellent. We didn't want to review this place because we don't want it to change! Sometimes greater demand can cause corners to be cut and quality to be sacrificed. Please keep up the good work!! read more

I got the brisket and sausage two meat platter. With a side of beans and coleslaw. Portion size is great, the food is AMAZING! And easily the beans are the BEST I've ever had. Great service, quick and friendly. Nice outdoor seating area. Absolutely recommend this place. read more

I was very impressed and pleased with my sliced brisket sandwich yesterday. It was a generous portion of brisket, and it was very flavorful. I also very much enjoyed the barbecue sauce. I prefer a medium-thick sauce that's bold and has some spice (savory) and this met the mark. Mind you, the sandwich didn't need sauce b/c the brisket is that flavorful. I highly recommend this place and I will be going back. read more

We're in town from Utah & wanted some BBQ before we left town. Found this hidden place. We came because of the great reviews and it held the standard. Nice employees & owner. Had all 3 meats. Favorite was the ribs, they truly did fall off the bone just picking them up. 2nd was brisket. Our 3rd was the sausage. All 3 were fantastic that's just our ranking on preference. Sides were amazing. Corn, beans, & potato salad all great. Then finished with banana cream pie which was a game changer. Everything great. Worth going. read more

Looking for BBQ and we almost went to the usual chain joints. Saw this on Yelp and we are th roiled that we did. What an amazing place and the food was excellent. Off the main road and we laughed where it was located as we almost missed it. Glad we didn't as this is where we're going from now on. I got the two meat plate Brisket and ribs, with a side on Jalapeño sausage, the ribs were amazing and an excellent flavor. The briskets was moist throughout and a great tasting bark. The sausage was a perfect blend with the jalapeño flavor just right. The 3 meats were great by themselves and I added the BBQ sauce sparingly but it was delicious and added perfectly to the meal. I had the potato salad and Cole Slaw and you haven't had either anywhere else that compares to these two. My guest had the brisket potato , it was huge, perfectly cooked, moist and smothered in Brisket and cheese. Top it all off with the nicest young lady taking our order and delivering the order to our table. The cook who I take as the owner, was amazing. Lots of help when ordering and checked on us to make sure we were happy with the meal. No doubt some of the best BBQ we have had in Houston and we will be back. read more

I'm visiting from San Diego Ca and wanted to try local brisket spot that's off the beaten path and this did not disappoint. It's an unusual location but it was absolutely perfect. My wife and i had the grilled cheese brisket sandwich and the shredded brisket. The potato salad and coleslaw were also outstanding. A perfect lunch in nice atmosphere and great service read more

Believe the reviews, this place is fantastic. But why is nobody is talking about breakfast? If you want a kick-butt breakfast taco, go to Gessner's and get the brisket taco. I order them by the dozens and take them to my customers. Want free delicious brisket tacos? You had better find out how to become my customer ; ) read more

I have been to some of the best BBQ spots in Texas. Gessner's is up there. The ribs were great falling off the bone, really good rub on them didn't really need bbq sauce. The bbq sauce is great. The brisket was a really good quality of beef and the flavor and smoke were delicious. I was lucky enough to sample some chili that is going to be on the menu and wow I can't wait to get some bowls of it. Really enjoyed my trip there and will be going back often. read more

This place is a true gem, and an honest representation of true Texas barbecue. The brisket is perfect, and the sides are elevated to an advanced culinary delight. I have heard about this place for a while now, both from other local store owners and now my boss who was raving about it. It is only a quarter of a mile from my house so it has a super small town kind of vibe, especially when every employee seems to love their job, their customer service is top notch. My favorite experience is when the gentleman preparing the food came out, welcomed me back for my second visit and even explained the different areas of their brisket they use for either a sliced brisket sandwich or a chopped brisket sandwich. Which if I may add....you can smell this place cooking meat from down the street! They freshly toast their buns and keep their sauce on the side so its not soggy and you can add the delicious sauce as you like, but you won't need to, the crust on that brisket is bangin', the ribs are rock star, and the sides are unlike anything else I've ever seen! We were on our way to the airport to come back to NY and they placed our order in small containers and tins so we would be able to carry it back....that was very nice. One day on shift with the FD we went to the little BBQ place and just LOVED the food! They other day my guys brought me a breakfast taco from her and by far the best breakfast taco ever!!! Definitely a new BBQ spot for me!!! read more

It is disappointing that I can not eat this deliciousness every day. I wish they were open on the weekends; at least Saturday.
