I ordered the BBQ Baked Potatoe all the way. It was huge. The potatoe was a bit dried out and the toppings helped diguise this flaw. Their BBQ sauce has a real peppery bite to it. Not my favorite mix, but ultimately it as filling, tasty and a bit over priced at $12.99 w tax for the amount of choppped brisket on it. Visited last weekend and had a wonderful experience! We were warmly greeted and meet with lots of delicious options. Choose a three meat plate to sample more. Food was delicious! I wanted a good burger after work and I tried this place, idk how they have such high reviews. This burger was like a hockey puck, frozen patty and tasteless. I couldn't believe a bbq place would serve this. I won't even be back to try anything else because I got green beans on the side and they were oddly sweet with a teriyaki burnt taste and if you can't make those things well, I'd hate to waste my money on anything else there. Went here for breakfast on Saturday morning for my birthday. Not very busy at 9am, but not many people expect a BBQ joint to be open for breakfast. Buddy's breakfast was great. I got biscuit instead of pancakes with a side of gravy. Everything was delicious and the breakfast sandwich that my gf had made me think maybe I will have that on my next visit. Average country bbq type decor and the hosts are happy to answer any questions you might have. Coffee is good and everything came out hot and as ordered. I had gone through the drive-through on a previous visit during lunch time and the place was packed. Got the chopped beef sandwich which was good but chopped beef is chopped beef. Not to take away from their bbq, I just didn't want to try eating ribs ( my go-to when eating inside ) while driving in the truck. Was there yesterday. This was the best barbecue I have had in many many years! The brisket was especially juicy and tender. The ribs were amazing and all the side dishes were so good! Why 4 stars? Because I would happily make somewhat regular appearances here. --- --- --- I am annoyed that I only recently discovered this place, otherwise I would have visited much sooner. We were eating dinner in downtown Magnolia, and I opened up Yelp to try to find a place nearby for ice cream or some sort of dessert, and Meating Place popped up. I bookmarked it then and we ended up visiting a couple of weeks later. My wife and I usually opt for different things so we can share and try multiple things, but in this case, we both went straight for a BBQ potato. She opted for brisket, and I went with pulled pork. I literally gobbled up every single square inch of mine, which is a pretty good sign I enjoyed it. For sides, we opted for baked beans (5-stars), fried okra (4-stars) and mac-n-cheese (2-stars). Unfortunately, the mac was a big miss for me, but the good news is that it was the only thing I really disliked during our visit. I am not sure what I tasted in it, but it reminded me of goat cheese, which I really despise. My wife didn't taste it, so maybe it was just me, but I kept trying it, and kept tasting it. Aside from that, it just kind of looked and tasted like store-bought mac. For dessert, we ordered banana pudding (5-stars) and strawberry shortcake (3-stars). There were plenty of other great options in the dessert case, and I very much look forward to trying many of them during future visits. This review is based on the drive thru. I paid for jalapeños and didn't get them. I asked for pickles and onions and didn't get them, I got no utensils. I got no napkins. What I did get was a hole in the bottom of the coleslaw which drained all over the rest of the stuff in the bag I also paid $6.50 for coleslaw that only came up to about the middle of the container. For almost $60, I feel as though people should be a little more diligent about what they put in the bags. read more

We've been to The Meeting Place so many times and have tried tons of different dishes--it's always solid, always delicious. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, and the owner truly makes it special. Eating here is a reminder of why I love the food in Texas. Feels like a home-cooked meal but far, far better quality than I'm used to (sorry family ). Food across the board is excellent. 11.5.22 This place is close to our new home so we were wanting to try it. I came in to get a stuffed bbq baked potato, some sides and I bought 2 desserts. () The potato was good and the chopped brisket was just ok. Not much flavor to it. I ordered a coleslaw and it was not to my liking but my husband said it was different but good. My husband's side choice was fried okra. He said the okra was tasty and not greasy. He would order it again. Now let's talk about the desserts! (I can't believe I forgot to take a photo of them.) I ordered a peach cobbler and a key lime pie. I really liked the cobbler but the show stopper was the key lime pie. O M G--it was the best key lime pie I have EVER had anywhere!!!! My husband agrees! I would try the bbq again, and I will definitely be back for the desserts! ...I wonder if they sell a whole key lime pie? I would love one for Thanksgiving. read more

Brisket was very dry. Only a little bit of fat on the bottom of the slices. Beans were salty and the mac and cheese was flavorless. Bread was good though, but it seems to be just store bought. Pretty expensive too. Two meals and two sides came out to over $30. And the place was empty. I felt bad for the musician, who sounded pretty good. This is really a great BBQ place in Magnolia! When you walk in, you're walking into a casual and laid back environment where the smell is amazing! It has a "barn" feel...because it's in a "barn" type building. Walk up to the counter, place your order and pick a table. Want beer? Buy a koozie and the beer is on the house. No real wine selection that I recall, but believe the have wine cooler type drinks. The offer a singer on Fridays/Saturdays. I can't confirm if there is music other days, but the singer has always been excellent! Not too loud and a great selection of country style music! The BBQ is tasty, not overly smoky and has the right tenderness. The beans, coleslaw and okra are wonderful! The BBQ sauce is some of the best BBQ sauce I've ever had! I have had their smoked chicken and jalapeno sausage which was wonderful! I sadly didn't get a picture of that meal. We just moved to Texas and honestly, we are obsessed. It's been everything we hoped and prayed for and more. However, it's been hard to find a bbq spot. We've been to three different places that locals have recommended and they all were pretty bland. We kept driving by this one on the way to get groceries and today was the day I stopped in. There was a band playing great music, I love me some good live music!! The gal at the front helped me with my order and the only disappointment I had, was the fact that I couldn't leave them a tip. I didn't have cash and I wish I coulda tipped'um. Next time I'll be bringing cash because this place is amazing. Had the opportunity to meet the owner, he was real kind with a great sense of humor. Just got done demolishing the food we ordered and we are VERY pleased to say, this place is it for us! AND it's only five minutes away from us. YAY. Was great meating Buddy and very much appreciated his hospitality to some Kansas City boys looking for good Texas bbq. Everything was awesome. The ribs were so tender and tips were perfectly juicy. I loved the fries which are a curly steak fry. I've never had them like that in KC. Buddy went above and beyond by digging up some of the best burnt ends ever. Came up to Magnolia last minute to visit the Lone Pint Brewery and needed a place to have lunch. This place kept popping up on my Yelp page and I just had to try it. Showed up and absolutely loved it here. If you come here you can't go wrong with any of it but if I had to choose my top favorites of the day were the Pulled Pork, Ribs, and that Jalapeño Sausage. The ribs were cooked perfectly and just slide right off the bone. While we were there we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his son and man they made us feel so welcome. Gave us the opportunity to try even more meat like the JALAPEÑO SAUSAGE and a bunch of different sides like green beans and cooked beans. I loved the green beans. I will absolutely be back as this place was not only a great place to eat, but the hospitality really takes this restaurant above excellent. First off, the address in Yelp is completely wrong if you're in old downtown Montgomery. It's not on College Dr (or St ‍). I called and the girl told me it's next to Magnolia West High School. It's about 20 mins from where it was listed on Yelp. We made the trip over there based on the reviews. Even asked a friend of ours that worked at MWHS and has eaten there many times. She suggested the turkey sandwich (they were out of turkey) and the bbq quesadillas. It's a nice little restaurant. It has a front room & a bigger dining area attached to it, as well as some outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. Large menu. They were out of some things but I wanted the potato and they had two left. It came loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream, and chives (I asked for no chives). I also got chopped beef on it. The potato was good size and tasted good. It came with bbq sauce which I don't like with my bbq or potato, so if I were to order it again I'd ask for no sauce. I'd also ask for extra butter as there wasn't enough of that. My wife ordered the rib plate (2 ribs with 2 sides for $25). She got fried okra and mac-n-cheese as her sides. I also ordered a side of beans. They have pinto or baked. I got pinto. Service was a 5/5. Although it was a brief encounter, the counter where you ordered, the girl was extremely friendly and helpful. Then they call your name as they bring it to your table. She got plastic utensils for us. There are paper towels on the table, as well as salt/pepper and bbq sauce. Food 2.5/5. The potato was good, but I didn't like the sauce on it and there could've been more butter. I'm sure I could've asked and they'd have given me some, but I didn't. My wife's ribs were nothing like we've seen before. It reminded me of a lamb leg. It was very moist with a good amount of fat on it. It was too smoky for me. It wasn't individual ribs which was weird for us. Her mac-n-cheese was not warm at all. My beans were just one tick above room temperature. Again, I'm sure if we'd have asked they would've made that right but we didn't. The fried okra was very hot and very salty, but good. There was a guy playing acoustic guitar and that was a nice touch. Not too loud so we could still have a conversation. They have a self-serve coke machine and tea. They have pies and cupcakes advertised as homemade but we were full and didn't try them. The meal cost $45 for me and my wife. Seems a bit pricey but we recognize this is a small, family-owned business so it's gonna be a little more. I wouldn't not come back because of the price. The food just didn't wow me. I might stop if I'm in the area and try something different. read more

Called to make an order to pick up. She said it would take 15 minutes. We get there 10 minutes later and we sit in line for 30 minutes and no one opens the window at all. The young woman with pink and black hair that was taking the calls and putting the orders didn't even acknowledge that we were even there although she was right in front of us at the window. She went up to the window 3 times before she acknowledged us. Thankfully after another 10 minutes she finally opens the window. She literally grabs the food from off the counter that was already in a bag. The food was just sitting there on the counter the whole damn time. You'll never guess it. The food was cold. We were looking for a place to eat lunch on the way home to College Station from the airport on a Friday. Driving through Magnolia, we stopped here based on reviews and this place did not disappoint! We pulled into the packed parking lot and walked in. The place was packed with law enforcement, workers and families. The atmosphere is lively and fun, very casual, and they have a deck with outside seating as well. I had the Pork Ribs with mac & cheese and green beans. Hubby had chicken and sliced brisket with okra and potato salad. It was delicious! All 3 meats were juicy and well seasoned, both with spices and smokiness. My ribs fell off the bone. The sides were great, the green beans especially... Though the mac & cheese didn't disappoint either. The staff is all SUPER nice and helpful and the owner was hilarious and came to check on us to make sure everything was to our liking. This place is a gem! Before walking out, we purchased a couple of their homemade desserts to take home! I got key lime pie and hubby got blackberry cobbler. Now, he's got a CRAZY sweet tooth, and LOVES blackberry cobbler, but this particular one was a little too sweet. The key lime pie, however, was AMAZING! Perfect tart and tangy and just sweet enough. The fresh whipped cream layer on top and the key lime filling were both light and airy and melted in my mouth. The graham cracker crust was buttery and perfect. We live in College Station, but we will be driving back to Magnolia regularly to frequent this place. It's THAT good. We have BBQ places here, but NOTHING this good. read more

I came here for breakfast with some friends that had been before and raved about it, and it did not disappoint. The breakfast menu isn't huge, but it has something for everyone, and enough to make it really hard to choose what to get. My one recommendation - get something that comes with a biscuit. These things are incredible, and our table got the last one of the day at about 9:30am (breakfast menu is still served an hour after this), so you know they must be delicious if they are that sought after by patrons. I went for the biscuits with sausage gravy, and it was suggested I get the "half order" based on how big it is. Well, let me tell you, the half order takes up an entire plate, and I could only eat even half of that, so more power to you folks that get the full order! Others at the table got the breakfast melt and the breakfast platter, both of which looked great. I would certainly come back in the future to try out more (and get another biscuit).Would also love to come during lunch to sample the BBQ itself! The fries are some sort of spiral magical perfection I had never happened upon in my life until I happened upon this place with my husband one evening.
