    Loaded potato

My fiance and I love supporting small businesses! We decided to try here, we spent $37 on 3 "loaded brisket potatoes" and we received it with a skimp amount of meat, one spoon full of sour scream it seemed and barely any sauce. Very disappointed

Man I hate to write this but I really have to. After my rave review a while back and another visit or two, I have to admit that I'll never be back. The food is delicious, the people who run it are great, but this place is just filthy. I can't get past it. The dining room probably hasn't been cleaned in 10 years...or ever. You can't see out of the windows they're so filthy and the door jambs are black from handprints that would come off with a splash of Windex. You know what they say - if it looks like this out in the dining room where everyone can see it, you don't want to know what it looks like in the kitchen. I have no idea if that's true and I certainly have never had any food that tasted less than delicious, but if you can't wash your windows or sweep the floor, maybe you shouldn't own a restaurant.

I was excited to try this barbecue restaurant due to the high ratings online. The barbecue was good but not as good as I expected it to be. They had good pork ribs and brisket, but the sausage was dry and not very flavorful. I wasn't particularly that impressed with the flavor of side items (potato salad and beans) that came with the meal. Overall, the meats were good and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

My husband and I are always looking for locally owned businesses to support. We stopped in for some BBQ and we're blown away by the quality and tenderness of the BBQ! We're pretty picky about our BBQ, but we were very impressed with our food! The cobbler was to die for and everyone was very friendly! It's nothing fancy, but the food was incredible and we enjoyed visiting with the owner. What an awesome little find!

Bottom line: Ribs, Brisket and Lemon Pie are very good Funny story... Knowing I was about to head to Texas for a quick work event, I wanted some BBQ and I figured I'd get that done before the work event started. Using Yelp, I searched for BBQ not far from our event. I chose Yo Mama's. But I needed to hedge my bet a bit so I called them yesterday before I left Colorado to quiz them a bit about their Q and confirm their hours for today. I spoke to Kelvin by phone. He was fun. Told him what I was looking for and he said "C'mon!". His version of "Bring it on" :) Me and 6 friends showed up and ate everything on the menu pretty much. I felt the pork ribs were the star. Tender and flavorful. The brisket was next in my book. Thick sliced and super tender. The sausage came in 3rd for me. A bit chewy at the end of the day. Would like to try them earlier in the day. In fact, Kelvin told me to come by tomorrow and he'd have some jalapeno sausage for me to try. Kelvin gave me a tour of the smokehouse. Had about a 6' long stick burner in there with a couple slabs of spares on it and a brisket. Later, he cut off a couple of ribs and brought them out to me to try. I shared one with a friend. These ribs were done to about competition doneness. Cooked but with a bit of a chew for mouth feel. And SO flavorful as the rub was still very evident. My friend really enjoyed it too. When we were done eating, someone asked what "burnt ends" are. Kelvin said "hold on". He went and got us a plate of them. Oh my gosh! So good! Then when we were really done, Calvin brought out 1/2 slices of their homemade Lemon Creme Pie. Once again, OMG! A thin flaky crust. A creamy lemony pie filling. So good. Great meal.

Ridiculous sliced beef sandwich I had on my way through this town. Will be back!!! They sell their bbq sauce as well so picked up a jar too.

I was camping near lake Conroe last week and got some take-out bbq from yo mama"s pit. Great rustic atmosphere and delicious bbq sweet potato, big enough to split with my husband for lunch.

Food is not good. The wait was long and the food was warmed up and old tasting. The sauce options and potato salad was good.

If they have the smoked turkey, get it. Hands down some of the best smoked turkey you'll ever eat. We've been a few times when they were plum out (which was highly disappointing and we almost walked away), but even without it, the brisket, fall of the bone ribs, and jalapeño cheese sausage and everything else on the menu does not disappoint. Prices are reasonable, portions are good, and the sides are all crowd-pleasers. It's a food truck with outdoor seating, so on rainy days you'll want to plan on taking it to go. There are a covered picnic areas, but either way, the food is absolutely worth it. Golly, today- free Lonestar on standby while waited :) iykyk - thank you kindly & and see you next week

Why 5 stars? Because it's on the Mount Rushmore of BBQ for me after one visit…read more --- --- --- I was checking out the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints in Texas list when it came out, and I was bookmarking a bunch of places on Yelp for my future travels. For any place located in the bigger cities: DFW, Austin, San Antonio, etc - there's a good chance I'd be able to visit them at some point down the road. Then I came across a local place: Bar A BBQ. I was thrilled that they made the cut. After reading their blurb, the next business listed was a place called Jennings. My eyes were darting around looking for what city Jennings was in. Imagine a movie scene where they close up on the person's face as their eyes widen and they are suddenly coming to a massive realization. Jennings was also located in Montgomery. I'm located in Montgomery. BBQ is my favorite food. I scour Yelp like a crazy person for new places to try and I've written over 3,500 reviews. I'm on multiple local Facebook foodie groups. And I had never even heard of Jennings. If you're simply reading this review, you probably don't actually know me. But I cannot properly convey to you how mind-blowing and unprecedented it is that a place like this would exist 20 minutes from my house and its existence would have somehow completely escaped my knowledge. I might not ever get over the fact that this happened. But I did what I could to make up for my ignorance and was first in line the next day that they were open after the article came out. So now onto the food.... ***The Important Part: The Food*** I won't bury the lede any more than I already have. Jennings is among the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. Since I first tried Franklin in Austin in 2021, I'd always said that it was #1. But then I had it a 2nd time and it was merely "awesome" rather than life-changing. Corkscrew in Old Town Spring has always been the top dog in all of Houston, in my opinion, but it's hard for me to, say that Corkscrew was definitely better than what I just experienced at Jennings. I started with a rib and just couldn't believe how great it was. The flavor was one thing, but it was the perfect mix between tender, but not so tender that it becomes a roast and just falls off the bone. And then I ate the brisket and couldn't pick which was better! I might not stop thinking about that brisket until at least the end of the decade. So thick, so fatty, so ideal. Give me a catering sized platter of this brisket and I will end wars with it. No words I can use will accurately portray how I felt about it. Calling it "perfect" somehow feels like an insult. And then the pulled pork. I always believe the pulled pork is easier in terms of having a baseline of decentness because it seems to be harder to mess up. But even it was just so undeniable. The sides ranged from fine to great. I am not really a pinto beans person, so that's the only side we didn't order. But the cowboy beans were basically just pinto beans with some brisket mixed in and that was the only thing I didn't care for. The coleslaw was just ok too. But the rest of the sides were all solid: mac-n-cheese, corn souffle, potato salad and the fried cabbage. The banana pudding wasn't bad either. But make no mistake: the meat is the star of the show here and it's not just a star. It's the sun and the moon and the galaxy. I'm ruined now because just about every future BBQ experience will just make me angry that they don't do it like Jennings. On top of their God BBQ, the people were super friendly here. They were giving us free samples since we were first timers even though we nearly just ordered "one of everything" on the menu. How I am just writing the 7th review for this place is a crime. How I was able to show up at 10:50am and be first in line for their 11am opening is a crime. If word gets out about what comes out of this trailer every Saturday and Sunday, they are going to need hire local law enforcement to direct traffic in and out of this gas station parking lot.

I went with the Fayrweather Byrd (BBQ Chicken) and the Southbound, which is like a Tex-Mex pizza - headlined by beef fajita meat. I thought the fayrweather byrd was pretty ideal. I ordered mine without jalapenos because my wife and I are really wusses when it comes to spicy food. My wife tried one bite of one slice and I ate the rest of the entire pizza by myself. Not because I was still hungry by the end, but because it was so delicious. And to make matters worse for my appetite, I also ate more than half of the Southbound, making it 13 slices in one sitting for me. I didn't have to include these embarrassing details in my review, but here I am, outing myself. I thought the southbound was fine, but would probably go for something else on the menu next time. Lastly, we finished with a mother fudger brownie. When I ordered it (to-go), he asked if we wanted everything on top: ice cream, whip cream, etc. I said yes, because I assumed it would be kept separate. But unfortunately, it was all packed into one box, so by the time I got home, it was virtually all melted. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but I'd probably only order this if you plan on eating it as soon as it's made. I will definitely check out Dizzy Pies again, as it's a very solid option in the neighborhood.
