Wow! I'm sure glad we stopped by Jennings when we were in the area, they are a bona fide amazingly deliciousTexas BBQ at its finest! Anything you order here will be amazing. The brisket is top notch. My daughter devoured the ribs. We really enjoyed the pull pork. Their sauce was really great as well. Service was easy to work with and pretty fast. But make sure you get there early they do sell out. The only thing we didn't get to try was the turkey, which they ran out the day before. Also keep in mind that they are only open on weekends. The last thing I'll say is that you have to try their banana pudding, I had to wrestle that away from my wife, who really enjoyed it. Weekends are made for Jennings BBQ -- literally, because they're only open on the weekends. Don't bother trying to come Monday through Friday unless you want to be disappointed, because seriously - they are closed. If you plan it right, you won't be disappointed. If they have the smoked turkey, get it. Hands down some of the best smoked turkey you'll ever eat. We've been a few times when they were plum out (which was highly disappointing and we almost walked away), but even without it, the brisket, fall of the bone ribs, and jalapeño cheese sausage and everything else on the menu does not disappoint. Prices are reasonable, portions are good, and the sides are all crowd-pleasers. It's a food truck with outdoor seating, so on rainy days you'll want to plan on taking it to go. Why 5 stars? Because it's on the Mount Rushmore of BBQ for me after one visit. --- --- --- I was checking out the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints in Texas list when it came out, and I was bookmarking a bunch of places on Yelp for my future travels. For any place located in the bigger cities: DFW, Austin, San Antonio, etc - there's a good chance I'd be able to visit them at some point down the road. Then I came across a local place: Bar A BBQ. I was thrilled that they made the cut. After reading their blurb, the next business listed was a place called Jennings. My eyes were darting around looking for what city Jennings was in. Imagine a movie scene where they close up on the person's face as their eyes widen and they are suddenly coming to a massive realization. Jennings was also located in Montgomery. I'm located in Montgomery. BBQ is my favorite food. I scour Yelp like a crazy person for new places to try and I've written over 3,500 reviews. I'm on multiple local Facebook foodie groups. And I had never even heard of Jennings. If you're simply reading this review, you probably don't actually know me. But I cannot properly convey to you how mind-blowing and unprecedented it is that a place like this would exist 20 minutes from my house and its existence would have somehow completely escaped my knowledge. I might not ever get over the fact that this happened. But I did what I could to make up for my ignorance and was first in line the next day that they were open after the article came out. So now onto the food.... ***The Important Part: The Food*** I won't bury the lede any more than I already have. Jennings is among the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. Since I first tried Franklin in Austin in 2021, I'd always said that it was #1. But then I had it a 2nd time and it was merely "awesome" rather than life-changing. Corkscrew in Old Town Spring has always been the top dog in all of Houston, in my opinion, but it's hard for me to, say that Corkscrew was definitely better than what I just experienced at Jennings. I started with a rib and just couldn't believe how great it was. The flavor was one thing, but it was the perfect mix between tender, but not so tender that it becomes a roast and just falls off the bone. And then I ate the brisket and couldn't pick which was better! I might not stop thinking about that brisket until at least the end of the decade. So thick, so fatty, so ideal. Give me a catering sized platter of this brisket and I will end wars with it. No words I can use will accurately portray how I felt about it. Calling it "perfect" somehow feels like an insult. And then the pulled pork. I always believe the pulled pork is easier in terms of having a baseline of decentness because it seems to be harder to mess up. But even it was just so undeniable. The sides ranged from fine to great. I am not really a pinto beans person, so that's the only side we didn't order. But the cowboy beans were basically just pinto beans with some brisket mixed in and that was the only thing I didn't care for. The coleslaw was just ok too. But the rest of the sides were all solid: mac-n-cheese, corn souffle, potato salad and the fried cabbage. The banana pudding wasn't bad either. But make no mistake: the meat is the star of the show here and it's not just a star. It's the sun and the moon and the galaxy. I'm ruined now because just about every future BBQ experience will just make me angry that they don't do it like Jennings. On top of their God BBQ, the people were super friendly here. They were giving us free samples since we were first timers even though we nearly just ordered "one of everything" on the menu. How I am just writing the 7th review for this place is a crime. How I was able to show up at 10:50am and be first in line for their 11am opening is a crime. If word gets out about what comes out of this trailer every Saturday and Sunday, they are going to need hire local law enforcement to direct traffic in and out of this gas station parking lot. read more

Frankly, my stomach is starting to question my life choices. But then we rolled up to Jennings BBQ in Montgomery, a food truck that's a Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ award winner, and my tummy and I made peace. The brisket was excellent--nicely cooked, very tender, and full of great flavor with a nice, clean bark. They did a fantastic job with it. The pulled pork was another highlight. It was incredibly juicy with a perfect flavor profile, and the amount of sauce and spice was just right. The ribs were also delicious--a flavorful spare rib with a perfect pull from the bone. For the sides, the cornbread casserole was a hit. It had a wonderful consistency, balancing the corn and the breading perfectly. The coleslaw was also great, with a nice, light flavor and the perfect amount of vinegar. In short, my body might be begging for a salad, but my soul is singing the praises of Jennings BBQ. Driving around Texas trying BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. Drove out to Jennings BBQ food truck on a Sunday on our 2nd weekend of chasing BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. So Jennings was the 2nd BBQ place that we hit on Sunday and it was the 4th place he visited on our busy weekend. The food truck is runner by a family consisting of dad, mom & son. The father greets you and slices the brisket and the other proteins while the sons helps get the sides and the wife checks you out. The people here genuinely care about the food that they serve and they treat all the customers with respect and try to get to know each customer as they serve them. We did not want a lot of pork rib and asked if we could just buy 1 bone of pork rib which the owner said yes, we own this place so we can do what we want. The pork rib was tender as was nice and tasty. The sausage was good but we have had better. The brisket looked really good and was delicious but interestingly it was lacking the smoke flavor that we were expecting. FYI, they did have FREE beer on the Sunday that we visited which was a treated as we waited in the long line. It's a food truck so we got our food to go as it was around 12:30pm and I felt it was too hot to sit outside at the picnic tables. As a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur this place exceeded my expectations. Close your eyes and you'd believe you were at the legendary Franklin's and trust me when I tell you I dont say that lightly. I never thought I'd ever say that. The brisket is juicy and perfectly tender and melts in your mouth with a lovely peppery and salty flavor. Its literally meat candy. The sausage is very well seasoned and has a nice crisp bite. The ribs are amazing. They have a slightly sweet but smokey and peppery flavor. Not overwhelming on the sweet or the smoke. Done just right. Love these ribs. Pulled pork was juicy and seasoned so well. Usually pulled meats are dry and flavorless. Not here. Don't skip the pulled pork.. The chicken. My friend told me I should visit this newish bbq spot since it was written up in Texas Monthly, so I actually did within the hour since I was close anyway. They have a few details not really explained on the menu. When you order in 1 lb increments you get 2 free sides. Also, not on the menu, are meat plates which can save you a little bit of money. They also give a discount for military, veterans, first responders, and teachers. They didn't give me any sauce, and they gave me the wrong type of sausage. Other than that, everything else went well. I chose 1/4lb brisket, 1 regular link, and potato salad. Also, i added banana pudding and a coke. Brisket - tender , moist and well marbled. Delicious. I'm guessing this is choice or prime, although it doesn't indicate on the menu. Sausage - the jalapeño cheese sausage, because they gave me the wrong type, was flavorful, has a nice snap, and not really spicy. The diameter of the link is slightly larger than others. They added bread and fixings to the togo box, but the red onions, pickled jalapeños and dill pickles are nothing special, not made in house. Pro tip: sit in one of the 3 picnic tables closest to Walden Rd for a slight view of the lake. There was a steady line the entire time I was there, but nothing too crazy. read more

Let me start this by saying I'm very particular with BBQ, brisket especially! We've got quite a few places in Montgomery and I'm not impressed by any of them, that is until I found Jennings!!!!! Holy cow! What a game changer for BBQ. The brisket just melts away in your mouth. The turkey is juicy, very well seasoned, and perfectly delicious. We have tried nearly every side they offer and you just can not go wrong!!!! These people know what they are doing!!! Simply outstanding. I can definitely see why they were picked by Texas Monthly to be one of the best BBQ places in the state . It is a trip outside of Houston but if you are anywhere near Montgomery stop by. Brisket cooked to perfection . Service is super friendly , and they sometimes even give out some meat samples to try. Parking is easy at the Sunoco gas station. Plenty of covered tables to eat at while you are there, though it seemed most people get it to go (understandable in the Houston heat). Only downside is they are only open on the weekend . read more
