Great BBQ place at Tomball. I came in around 7:30 pm, the place was empty and half of the items on the menu already sold out I had 1/2 lb brisket, two pork ribs (moist not dry) and coleslaw. I chose the spicy Liquid Gold sauce, but it did not have much kick. The meat was tender and moist with excellent flavor. Will have to come back early next time to sample more items. read more

Top tier bbq! I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place the day after Thanksgiving. We had family from out of state and they wanted to have some great Tx barbecue. Bexar's meat did not disappoint! Food quality was excellent. I will say it was a little spendy for bbq. I had 1 beef rib and a 1/4 pound of the brisket with potatoes and my bill was over $60. With that said I thought the food was very good. I liked the potatoes and ordered those from other review recommendations. They were tasty. Very underrated! These guys know what they're doing! I come here quite often and use to be every Saturday when my wife worked around here as this was our go to lunch spot for Saturdays. Brisket: their brisket is definitely too notch. Out of all the times I've been here, only time the brisket came out a little bit drier than usual. Other than that, it's on out! A few pieces is all you'll need and definitely shareable! Definitely must try! Beef rib: Super tender and delicious. Definitely not your mushy too too tender rib. Bark was delicious on it! It won't disappoint and that's a damn fact! Chopped brisket sandwich: the bun was very nice and the meat is from a fresh brisket! Loved it! Definitely like sauce on my sandwich so don't skip on that part! Sausage: she usually tries the sausage and it's pretty decent. She's really not to big fan of sausage so I'm not sure how she was rating it. Sides: the slaw and potato salad is definitely our go to and would do it time and time again! Don't skip out on their pickled onions because OMG they are f****en good! Sauce: I don't do reviews too much on sauce but this place has the BEST BEST BESTEST sauce out of any place that I've ever tried. Do not and I repeat, DO NOT skip the OG sauce. Not sure if I came on a bad day, but it was noon on a Tuesday and no customers were inside. The chop beef sandwich was like eating sawdust and fell all out of the sandwich due to lack of moisture. Not even the barbecue sauce could save it. The potato salad was very gritty. The ribs were about 3 inches long and tiny, one of which had no meat on it. And the beans had giant chunks of fat throughout, which made me lose my appetite. Sadly, I will not be returning. I was having higher hopes for this place. Paid about $40. I wasn't impressed. I'm on a cane, so after I ordered the cashier offered to carry my tray to the table. I thought how incredibly thoughtful she was. Unfortunately, she also carried my empty glass, but it didn't matter as I didn't have utensils, napkins, sauce, pickles, or anything else. After four trips to the condiment bar - I'm limited to what I can carry in one hand - I tried the BBQ. I had asked for "Moist Only". I got both moist and lean, mostly lean, which a bit dry for my taste. Also didn't care for the potato salad. It started great, but didn't finish so well. read more

Wow, so good! Get the brisket, it is one of the best in the area. We also fot pork ribs so tender, beans which had a bit of spice and slaw which was vinegar based (how I prefer). The place still seems really new and clean, they also have a little outdoor area for the kids to run around! read more

I went in with high expectations based on previous reviews and reading the 2022 Texas Monthly article, and the food is even better than expected. Ordered a lb of moist brisket, lb of turkey, and a beef rib to go (spoiled dog expects me home all weekend). The pricing is great for BBQ of this quality, and I plan to dine in on my next visit (likely a week from today). They have the pickles/onions/jalapeños/sauce in a self-serve area, but I have yet to try any of these as I'm sitting here in meat heaven. The 20 minute drive home was torturous as the smell inside my truck kept intensifying. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, clean and of course smells like the cab of my truck does at the moment. I can't wait to try one of their burgers and some sides soon (a week from today). The only thing that surprises me is that there wasn't a line even though I got there just a few minutes after opening. Anyone within a couple of hours of this place needs to try it out. More specifics on the meat: Brisket: Only Snow's in Lexington compares from my personal experience. Truth in Brenham/The Heights is amazing, but I think Bexar is better. The crunchy bark with the perfect salt/pepper rub that seeps all the way through puts it over the top. I need to hit Snow's soon to figure out a true winner for me personally. Rib: Similar to the brisket, the bark is insanely good as is the tenderness. The first few bites I was thinking it needed more salt, but that was just the edge parts. Once you hit the meatier parts in the middle, it becomes intense rich beef flavor with plenty of salt. Turkey: Perfect smoked turkey. Some places have too heavy of smoke on the Turkey in my opinion. This seems like it was cooked hotter, so the smoke is still there, but it doesn't dominate. You can see the juiciness in my picture. Stopped by Bexar bbq for the 2nd time today and we were even more impressed with the food! Everything we ordered was delicious and a big hit with our tween and our toddler. The brisket tacos in their homemade tortillas were superb and so filling! The coleslaw, Mac & cheese, potato salad casserole (hot), and bbq beans were amazing! The pickled onions, pickles and hot jalapeños were also a nice touch. We tried their cold sausage today for the first time (think summer sausage) and we will definitely be back for more. I had lunch here on Sunday as Yelp brought me to this relatively new Q joint in Tomball. It's located right on Hwy 249 (not the tollway) as you are driving thru town in a new strip center on the endcap with plenty of parking. Inside it's a counter service restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating choices. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of Bexar beans and a soft drink for $18 with tax. After a visit to the self serve drink station my food was ready in less than 5 minutes. The sandwich bread was sweet sourdough providing for a dense bun that had plenty of sliced brisket in it. The brisket had a nice bark on it and the flavor was delicious with a hint of smoke. I was pleased with the sandwich as it was both tasty and filling. I added some of their O.G. BBQ sauce (sweet) which increased my pleasure. For $10.50 it was money well spent (5). The Bexar beans were of the pinto variety and taste wise, I thought they were good but on the order of a (3.5) level. Personally, pinto beans are not my fave however the overall content in this dish was enhanced by having a lot of brisket meat mixed in which added that extra half star. My only recommendation for improvement would be accessing the bbq sauce. They have two types with the aforementioned O.G sweet sauce and a mustard based one called Liquid Gold. The sauces are only available near the drink station in large squeeze bottles. If you want more sauce you have to take your food to the station and handle the appropriate bottle. I wish the sauces could be on the tables or they have small containers to fill and then take to your table. I enjoyed this meal and would be happy to return . read more

Y'ALL... if you haven't tried this place out, you're missing out! This has got to be my new favorite BBQ place now. We got there about an hour before closing, and unfortunately missed out on a lot of great meats. However, the guy that served us was great, and I trusted him to go ahead and order whatever he felt would best fill us. We ordered 3 different tacos; pull pork, chopped turkey, and beef. One beef rib and the Bexar burger with pork belly on top... omg that was everything. Drooling right now just typing about it. It was super juicy and the buns were super soft and buttery! I enjoyed every single bite. The liquid gold sauce was my favorite! Had a good kick to it. For our sides, we had the hot potato salad and corn. It was almost like a baked potato chopped up into a salad. I enjoyed that as well. Ugh, I can't wait to come back for the burger!!! As far as the customer service... one of the best experiences I've had! I can't say enough how awesome everything was, even when they were about to close. They didn't rush us, but even offered to get us extra drinks ahead of time before they cleaned up the machines. Got us more condiments, and just hands down the best at everything they do. 10 stars. Absolutely one of the best barbecue joints in Texas, and I have been to A LOT all around the country. Food is 10/10. Service is 10/10. The beef ribs are outstanding, have never had anything like them. The bark is just incredible. The burgers are to die for.. unbelievable. The most flavorful patty I have ever even dreamed of eating. The pork ribs are great too, the potato salad is the best I've had and includes meat. Two kinds of sauce, including the necessary spicy/tangy kind that makes or breaks a barbecue joint. Even the pickles are amazing. There is also cornhole outside which is fun if you're with friends and they do serve beer. I was totally blown away by this place, and if you don't believe me, check my other reviews to see I'm not blowing smoke. I haven't been anywhere this nice in years. This was not a good experience at all. I took a client to lunch and neither of us were impressed. The brisket was OK as well as the ribs but the worst part was the burnt ends. It seems they did them out of the flat and not the point. They were so dry it was almost impossible to eat. I asked the young lady at the counter, while going to refill my tea, if we could get a refund for just this item, to which she replied "We do not give refunds." When I returned to the table after refreshing my drink I noticed that she removed the burnt ends from my table. Not only will they not give you a refund but they will just take the food back. I'm glad I did not request a refund for the whole meal. I was told, by her, that she took the food so her husband could taste it and if he determined that it was not good that I would get a refund. Well that was over a month ago so I assume the refund is off the table. Just not a good experience and my client was not impressed at all. Not to mention I spent almost $100.00 for lunch. read more

The restaurant was very clean, and the staff was nice. The sides were okay. I prefer baked beans with my bbq, but their Bexar beans are tasty. My Hubby loved the Casa corn, and the meat although very tender, was very average in flavor. I asked for salt, and found it a little off-putting, after being watched (in the distance) for 5 minutes, to be approached by a staff member (not sure of the position he held), WHILE I'M STILL EATING, saying "Why did you ask for salt? What needed salt? What's wrong?" I was seriously taken aback bc I almost felt like I was about to be put in timeout or something. Uuuhhmmmm, please stop doing that to your customers who asked for salt! All in all the food, for me, was average, but the Hubby really enjoyed. Will I go back? Not sure. I did not take photos because I was busy and didn't have time and was the last one to eat so the presentation wasn't the best by the time I got my plate fixed. It had a flavor that reminded me of this certain beef jerky I used to eat as a kid. Beef rib was good, tender and moist, some parts dry Pork ribs were my favorite and a 5/5. These were the best pork ribs I've tried so far and not sure it's even close. Would go back just for the pork ribs. Potato salad, I was given the choice of warm or cold. I asked the cashier and she suggested warm. I think I should've chosen cold because the warm potato salad didn't seem right to me. It had cheese I believe and was super salty. I would try the cold salad next time to be able to judge fairly. Bexar beans were pretty good. They were soupy beans with pieces of sausages mixed in. I would get again. Sausage links were very peppery and not for everyone. I love pepper and the overly peppery taste kind of turned me off a little so if you don't like pepper you would not like this at all. It wasn't overly oily or greasy like most sausages though. Overall I would give a good 4/5. I live close by so anytime I'm ever craving some good pork ribs I will go back here any day of the week. Over priced BBQ, you order at the register and they don't serve your food to you at the counter on a plate but instead on a metal platter tray so 3 people's food on there again not on plates...nor do they have salt and pepper readily available (which unfortunately is much needed on the meats and potato salad thing which was served in a plastic 9iz cup thing). There "to-go" process for left overs is awful/failure as they give you parchment paper to wrap it in with out a bag nor box to put it in. I honestly don't know how they are staying in business regardless if the brisket and ribs and smoked Turkey was decent. Texas has too many BBQ places to choose from and this one is bottom on my top 10! As far as ambiance, no TVs, not enough seating if it was busy and def not clear on their drink menu! The potato salad reminded me of a leftover baked potato, which isn't bad, just different. My wife really liked the Casa corn. The beans were good as well. We attended the beef seminar after our meal. We learned some things about the beef industry & what some of the terminology & buzzwords mean. Justin is very knowledgeable & will answer any questions about beef production & how things work. Brought my family here for a late Sunday lunch. Walked in with 4 small kids and the lady was so friendly and helped us pick exactly what we needed. Service was fast, helpful and friendly. Food was awesome! We got the warm potato salad and casa corn. Both delicious. We got ribs and brisket sandwiches, sausage and brisket. Everything was perfect. Bbq sauces were amazing as were those peppered onions. You can tell they really take great pride in their food. The owner was super friendly and came to check on us, even helped us order too. Our experience was soooo different from the good reviews here. I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. Husband got 1/4 lb. brisket and a link of sausage with beans. When we sat down he was staring at his tray and said he had never gotten brisket with that much fat at any bbq place before. He cut away at least half. I saw a man at another table literally spit out his meat and left his tray barely touched. Our lunch was $50 with tip and just not very good.
