2nd time trying this location. I tried it many years ago before being on Yelp. But decided to try as I was in the area and wanted a brisket sandwich. Walked in Sunday 5:30pm place was empty I was a little shocked and while there eating only 3-4 more customers came in. 1 couple and 1 guy had a to go order and 1 more couple walked in while I was leaving. I ordered the sliced beef sandwich $13.95 and I got 2 sides, veggies (broccoli and carrots) and Mac & cheese and a drink total was $23.85 BBQ has gotten costly since 2021 and hasn't come down. I still get sticker shock! Yes I could have ordered just the sandwich and it would have been enough as they did not skimp on amount of brisket (see pic) and it was on a fresh and large bun...the brisket was really tender and juicy and tasted good. I was impressed. I added onions and pickle and they had a fresh Serrano pepper on the condiment station... Over all the place has the typical BBQ decor and some stuffed animals and other decor on the walls. Staff were welcoming and friendly and answered my questions. The condiment station was half full on items and appeared in need of restocking as it looked like they hadn't restocked or cleaned since lunch rush. But there was plenty of onions and pickles so no big deal but they don't close until 9pm so you would think they would clean and stock/prep for the 5-9 rush but maybe they are slow on Sunday after 5pm so they don't restock that late in the day. Plenty of parking and tables and seats and separate room so you can find a seat you prefer. Place was over all clean and I did wash my hands and the bathroom seemed pretty clean except for trash can was full and in need of emptying. We are new to the area and were hungry, so we stopped into Harris County Smokehouse after just finding it on the fly. It reminded me a lot of Rudy's, cafeteria style line, pick your meats, grab your sides, sit down and eat. Unfortunately, we probably should have kept driving. I take barbecue seriously. I smoke at home and I know good smoked meat. The brisket was dry. Not just lean, but dry. The ribs were okay, but ribs are hard to completely mess up. The chicken looked a little undercooked, which is never a good sign. The potato salad tasted like something you grab from a grocery store deli case. The mac and cheese was very basic. The spinach was good, but let's be honest, it is not that hard to make decent spinach. The pecan pie was probably the best thing we had. Their barbecue sauce was very runny and did not really add anything special. If I am being honest, the toppings bar with onions, pickles, and extras was the highlight. My wife pretty much filled up on pickles. I could keep going, but I will just say this. If you really appreciate good barbecue, this may not be your spot. If you just want something quick and do not care too much about depth of flavor, it might work for you. For us, it was a no. Sorry, but no bueno. read more

Great variety for breakfast! From American to Mexican- they've got just about anything you're craving. Everything we had was cooked perfectly. Great crunch to the turkey bacon, French toast was fluffy and grits were smooth and just the right thickness. Only thing is there is no flavor on the eggs and grits so if you like flavor you'll have to pull out the S&P. I love that they have an all you can eat boiled peanuts, rolls, and corn bread section. It's right next to the fountain drink station and condiments that includes pico, limes, lemons, jalapeños and other things to help complement your meals. When ordering you go through basically an a la carte style line and they're pretty efficient and friendly. There are plenty of seats even to accommodate large parties if necessary with a country Texan theme with a few saddles as seats, fun older articles and vintage designs. read more

Good, solid bbq option served cafeteria style. Closer to Luby's than an authentic bbq place, it still serves up reasonably filling food but it won't blow you away. They do offer up some nice extras, fresh corn muffins and the like. Decor makes you feel transported to the 60s. read more

Worst breakfast we've had in a long while. No taste to anything! It's like they're allergic to seasoning! My husband said he couldn't have even guessed what type of meat was in the brisket tacos if he hadn't of ordered it. My chicken fried steak had no taste either. Ok so this might be my not so favourite thing to do. I haven't put on a review since I didn't like my experience the first time around a month ago. Thinking we give it another try about 2 weeks ago and the same experience greeted us when we visited. May 16 After a friend recommended that we try HCS we did.... Big Mistake... We ordered 2 Big Burritos with Brisket as our meat on it plus some Pork Ribs. What we received was less than trash. The Burritos were not more just rolled up FAT. I tried to eat it but decided to feed both of the Burritos to the TRASH CAN. Totally unbeatable. As for the Ribs. This place is absolutely bad ass. Every single time my wife and I have ordered from here it has been amazing. Plus, the customer service is awesome and they always tell me to go get rolls and or cornbread. I am an absolute fat ass. I didn't take advantage of that though lol. Be warned this isn't a family friendly place as it shuffles you quickly through a line with no explanation how to order. There is no prices anywhere and the prices are extremely expensive for the size portions and sides. My wife says places like this shouldn't be allowed to be open because we both felt like we were robbed. The food was dry and lack luster on top of the tiny portions. I've eaten both dinner and breakfast here. Both were excellent. There was a minor hiccup with breakfast but it was quickly resolved. My mother ordered pancakes and eggs. That's all. She got her eggs, but no pancakes. I went up to tell the lady they forgot the pancakes, then the guy came over and said I was not charged for them. The service here was good (it is counter service which we like), even at 8 pm on a Sunday. I had the grilled chicken garden salad with ranch and found everything to be quite tasty. They are open to 50% but there's no way that seems to work unless they open their side room. No specials available only regular menu items at the moment. Horrible service and management we got an order to go. Turkey specifically told them that my husband had been sick everything on the side and a plain potato drove all the way 20 minutes home open the bag and there's brisket so my husband that's been sick for a week doesn't want to eat red meat so I drove back up there left left the package. I called to tell them the manager told me well make sure you bring it back. What are they gonna resell it? Maybe they are better watch out for that so my husband had to turn around come back and get it and he eats at this place often but this will be the last time did the management offer to give him a free drink give him a Dollar office bill that I just paid when I came through the drive-through hell no horrible considering how many times I spoke with the girl about the fact that he's been sick so he's trying some turkey now.!! Three stars isn't bad, but it's not great either. For starters, the brisket quesadilla should have been great. It was just 'okay', mainly suffering from relatively bland brisket. I will say, the protein was tender and juicy and came with all the fixings, just not the punch of flavor you'd expect from a smokehouse. (It did come with a generous portion of store bought salsa, but whatever ... I didn't come here for BBQ sauce, salsa, and pico). The seasoned rice from the steam-table lime wasn't good or bad. Un memorable is a better description. I am pretty sure that in a few days I won't remember it as something I even ate. The steamed vegetables were similar--a bit bland, but again, I didn't come here for veggies per se, so take my review of the sides with a grain of salt. Line service and table delivery were pretty standard and relatively fast. I will ding them for not accepting ApplePay (and presumably Google Pay) even though the register had the little insignia for it. C'mon, this is 2023. Get with the program! Bummer. The decor is pretty standard, old school Wild West (cow statues, boots and such, and LOTS of wood, etc.) ... it's a nice theme. However, if you have a stronger constitution than I do, and you can better-resist your stomach's food commands, I'd recommend passing on this spot. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. My husband has been here before and had been raving about their breakfast for a while. We finally decided to go along and try it out. They have an extensive menu with many options. We went for their cafeteria style offerings. Ordered chicken, turkey breast sandwich and some sides. I really liked their loaded mashed potatoes and their spicy beans were excellent. Their potato salad, however, tasted store bought and had an overload of mustard. The chicken and turkey were juicy and well seasoned. The portions were large enough. They also had a variety of breads like yeast rolls and corn bread/muffins. The yeast rolls were absolutely amazing. My daughter ended up tossing away the bread from her turkey sandwich and using the rolls to fix up another sandwich. I wouldn't mind stopping by just for some of those rolls! It was an overall good dining experience. My husband has been there many times and I'm sure this won't be our last. read more

All of the meats were tender and flavorful. Music inside is older country at a good volume that was nice to listen to.
