The food here is fine, but the service is TERRIBLE. I was never sure who exactly our server was, because we had 2 or 3 random people that we had to flag down to get anything. We ordered beverages and only some of the beverages arrived. There were 5 people at our table, and even though we ordered 1 dessert, only 1 spoon was brought out to us. This review is a little unfair since it was written the day after Hurricane Irma- The reason to come here is for the pizza- And the pizza is exceptionally good. The salads were meh-looked like someone just opened a bag of premixed salad and dumped a little on our plates. The dressing was the stuff from bottles. And the service while good intentioned was painfully inadequate- just almost nonexistent. Then came the bill- $60.00 for two unappetizing salads and two small pizzas. Would We come back? I work down the street from this place so my friends and I stop in pretty often after work! We always sit at the bar because they have an amazing 2 for 1 deal on food! We always end up with way more food then we can eat but it is always delicious! I always order the penne roseate (like a vodka sauce with smoked salmon) it's my favorite. My friends ordered Rio de Janeiro, carbonara, and the Nutella pizza all really good. The place is always very clean and tidy. Sometimes the service can be a little on the slow side... even when there is only a couple people in the entire restaurant but other then that everything else is pretty amazing. read more

Piola holds a special place in my heart, as well the hearts of my fellow New Yorkers. Piola, for those unfamiliar with it, is relatively small chain with franchises sprinkled across the globe. There was a Piola in the great city of New York once upon a time, but Piola unceremoniously abandoned us one cold winter day, leaving both our stomachs and our hearts empty. In the lovely city of Miami, however, there are two Piolas at your service. One of the Piolas is located on the magnificent island of Miami Beach, specifically in the South Beach region. As a New Yorker, South Beach warrants a visit squarely on principle. I've heard transplants refer to South Beach as "the sixth borough" (or fifth if you discount Staten Island, which I naturally do). The other Piola is located in the much quieter part of the city (Downtown, located on the mainland). The dining experience here was somewhat unique when compared to the other two locations. Although the Piola in Manhattan had one or two tables out front (on the sidewalk) during the warmer times of the year, this Piola has a dedicated outdoor seating area (the location in South Beach is without any outdoor seating). Complimenting this is the familiar colorful indoor ambiance that we have come to know and love. This Piola also was much quieter than I am accustomed to. Manhattan and South Beach are extremely populated areas in comparison, therefore this makes perfect sense and is a pleasant change of pace. The food was excellent. I had the Gnocchi Legnano - a Piola staple. I requested a side of Pompeii sauce for dipping (in case the 4 cheese gnocchi was not flavorful enough). The sauce rivaled that of some of my favorite pizza places in New York City. Although a franchise typically would adhere to the same recipes and obtain ingredients from the same source, this Piola had a slightly better taste than any of its sister chains I have visited. My hypothesis would be that the food (presumably) has the luxury of a more meticulous preparation enabled by the smaller crowd and less-demanding rapidity of filling orders for customers. For dessert I indulged in some profiteroles. If you are accustomed to cooler climates (which a New Yorker should be), but are craving a dessert that includes some pastry, this is a must-have. The creme puffs are just the right level of sweet and compliment the vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce beautifully. The important thing is that you stand up from the table after your meal without feeling like you weigh twice as much while in warmer climate. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. The food, as mentioned above, was excellent.I approve of this place completely. Whether you are a transplant or a traveler from the Big Apple, you will not be disappointed. read more

We have been fans of Piola since the original Sobe location that closed sadly closed. The Brickell location did not disappoint. From the greeting at the front to the perfectly timed pizza made to perfection We personally love the quattro formagie with spicy salami Everything hit the spot perfectly and the nutella pizza was a perfect finale. The ambiance is so nice for families, younger people, big groups, basically everyone can have a great time and amazing meal. The service is also excellent! After finishing my own pizza and trying my friends' as well, both options, to me at least, were underwhelming. In the aftermath of Irma, my friends and I ventured out for some dinner and sense of normalcy. We live in Brickell, and other than the Keys it was one of the hardest hit areas. We are still without AC, water, and elevator (21 stories in 90 degree heat is no fun). In addition, I work in the hospital system here in Miami, and along with numerous other dedicated individuals (including my wife) we have been working since evacuation began to care for the injured and ill of the community. I digress... okay so we went to Piola on South Miami for a few drinks and dinner. We sat at the bar and saw the sign that said "2-1 Food at the Bar, everyday, 7-Close" (see attached picture). Food is great as always, beer was cold and service was attentive... the issue is when the bill came we got charged full price for all our food. We inquired with our server and his response, "the discount doesn't apply for the hurricane." Are you kidding me?!? To basically tell me you are milking the utility situation of Miami for your profit is sad and then to be too lazy to take the sign down speaks to everything that is wrong with today's society. My husband and I loved our meal at Piola Brickell. He had a sausage pizza and it was delicious, with plenty of cheese and tasty Italian sausage. My gnocchi was delicious as well and the Wynwood Brewery La Rubia beer was a good complement to the tomato-y sauce. Juan, our waiter, was efficient and personable. Came over to Miami a day early prior to boarding cruise ship. Hampton Inn concierge referred us to couple of restaurants. Luckily for us he recommended the Piola - Brickell. Along with some amazing looking pizza, Piola also had several interesting pasta dishes. We followed the recommendations of our lovely, energetic, and very personable waitress Melinda Jo. To start, she recommended a Malbec Reserve and Chianti Gran Duca. Both were excellent. Melinda Jo's entree recommendations were Spaghetti Alla Antonia (meatballs had fabulous flavor & aroma) and Fusilli Bianco Verde. The fusilli was perfectly al dente and in a lovely primavera with chicken and broccoli. Management staff Sebastian & (?? Sorry) were also extremely attentive. We also tried a Scroppino after dinner drink (champagne & lemon sorbetto) was the perfect finish to a wonderfully tasty meal and fabulous service. Next time we're back in town we will definitely return. Thanks again to Melinda Jo and staff. You folks made our evening. read more

Had a pretty good time. Had the caprichosa pizza, and it was very good (still dont know what artichoke tastes like, but it gives it a little sumpin' sumpin'). After getting off of a plane late at night on New Year's Day hangry in Brickell, Piola seemed to be the only place still open at 10pm. Since I love pizza and had been wanting to try this place for the longest, it seemed to be the perfect moment. Service at first was a little slow but once we put in our order everything went smoothly. I ordered the Quattro Formaggi Pizza with gorgonzola, brie and grated parmesan cheese..and then added prosciutto. This pizza definitely did not disappoint. It was thin, crispy, cheesy, fresh, delicious, and I could honestly have it daily and live happily ever after. You can see the pizza being made right in front of you which I love. Haven't done Gnocchi day which for those of you that don't know happens to the 29th of every month. Several servers come around with bowls of different renditions of gnocchi. I don't think there was one that I didn't like. What made the experience that much better was the Area Manager Brad. Possibly the only white guy on staff that helps in the serving and going around checking on the customers to see how the food and service is. Not just that just come off as really cool guy. I started going to Piola probably close to 10 years ago @ their Hallandale location where I met Andrew.
