After a couple days in Bend, OR, I am left feeling impressed with the town but disappointed in the food. Until. Now. I couldn't decide between this place and the Bend Brewery. I really wanted the fish tacos at the Brewery. But after talking to the wait staff, the tacos were taken off the menu. And the vide wasn't what I thought. So I wandered over a few doors down to the Pine Tavern. I am so glad this happened. I just had the most delicious French onion soup and the biggest tastiest Alaskan Cod fish and chips. As if I wasn't incredibly full after all of that, I ordered the Scone Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce. This was the most delicious bite of deliciousness ever. The staff is friendly. The vibe is a chill bar with good music that's not too loud and the walls are plastered with original pictures. My diet is destroyed but my spirit and stomach are full. Go here asap. read more

Came here for the first time while visiting bend and the service was very "bland". Definitely nothing over and beyond. Unfortunately the food portion of what my husband had (steak fritas) was so small and not worth the price at all. Sweet potatoes fries were amazing and definitely recommended. On 3/22/24 while wondering around downtown Bend for a place to have dinner at, I just happened to spot this charming looking place on a side street from a block away while walking by and decided to check it out on my second passing. Very nice atmosphere and I was able to get a table right away upon walking in on a busy Friday night. I really enjoyed the Hefeweizen drink and my steak salad as the entree. My friendly server was a chatty gal from Tennessee who recommended to me the scone bread pudding for dessert and it was very delicious. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in Bend again overnight or long enough for a meal. read more

Restaurant with a view... Located along the Deschutes River, the outdoor patio area boasts a gorgeous view of the Mirror Pond. They also have indoor dining areas which allow for social distancing including 5-6 private min- rooms with a single tables and curtain doors. I saw a bar but I don't think seating as allowed there. Other Covid safety precautions I noticed were masks, hand sanitizer dispensers, signs, markers on the floor and tables at least 6 feet apart. My party of 5 sat outside. The menu included traditional menu items but was lacking in vegetarian options. We ordered the Mixed Greens Salad, sides of snap peas and mushrooms (for the vegetarians), Seared Salmon, Potato Encrusted Wild Alaskan Halibut, Grilled Mahi Salad, Hummus, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, wine and White Chocolate Cheesecake (to go). Our food arrived in a timely manner, was nicely plated and in decent portion. Taste was good although a tad bland. Service was excellent. Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful. The service: No nonsense, straight forward wait staff that simply does their job well. The waiter was as efficient as they come. Attentive, but not at all "how is everything" aggressive. Sometimes. Often times. It just comes down to the basics. A traditional dining out experience done in the expected sequence. This was such a time. This was well welcomed and appreciated. We had the garlic Fries as an app. I had a cup of French soup. Amazing. Then main coursed the Fish & Chips. Others in my fam had the Mac & Cheese, and Burgers. Comfort food to the core. Bottom line: My family and I were able to unwind, exhale, actually talk, eat and leave rested and with fully bellies. The food was decent. We ordered the pasta and the prime rib sandwich special. It was ok. The bell peppers overpowered the pasta, and the prime rib sandwich was thin shavings of beef. Great caramelization on the onions, though. I was least impressed with the cleanliness of our dining experience as a cherry stem was laid neatly on the corner of the table as we sat down. The unwrapped fork handle had dried food on the handle, and the bathroom door was held together by strait hinges. You would think with a $100 lunch with beverages and appetizers, the place would have a bit more ambiance and cleanliness. read more

The place used to be a great place to have a quiet dinner. The service was great but the food was pretty bad. We've eaten here in the past and the food was great but the night of 12/9/23 it was surprisingly bad. I ordered fish and chips which is usually a home run here but this time it had no flavor/seasoning. Tasted overcooked and cooked in old oil. My wife had the Mac n cheese and it was delicious. Best Fish and Chips I've had. Not just good or great, best ever. Right on the River, can stay inside or sit on the deck, same great view. Great vibe inside. While visiting Bend, we decided to have dinner at PT. We walked in an hour before closing and snagged the last table! Their specials were clam linguini, potato crusted halibut and baby back ribs. I ordered the potato crusted halibut while my husband got the clam linguini. The clam linguini was cooked in a white wine sauce and there were plenty of clams in the dish. My husband liked the dish but we've definitely had better. The potato crusted halibut was delicious. It was crispy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. It was served with asparagus and wild rice. It all paired well together. My step son got the beef stroganoff. He thought it was pretty good but he preferred my halibut dish after trying a bite. However the manager or whatever she was couldn't make a decision to SAVE her life on a simple bottle of wine. They ran out of the wine we were drinking and we wanted something comparable, she "the manager" suggested something that was a bit more expensive, usually the House will honor the same price of the bottle we ordered, here is the fun part, this person could not honor the same price of the bottle she suggested. Please keep in mind our tab was over 1K and the difference between bottles was 7 or 8 dollars more. My first impression was that this will be an easy five star review. I was impressed with the ambiance of the indoor seating. It was more than I expected in a Bend restaurant. The patio seating was ok. Our waiter informed us that the patio had been closed in anticipation of cooler weather; but, the recent warm weather caused the restaurant to quickly reopen the patio. The menu is small with a large beer and wine list. I ordered Beer Battered Fish & Chips. My wife ordered linguine. Fish & Chips came with a large piece of beer battered cod, fries, tartar sauce, ketchup, and coleslaw. I needed to ask for malt vinegar. The beer battered fish was very good with a nicely crisp crust and perfectly cooked fish. The tartar sauce was about perfect. Fires, aka chips, were average, barely passed the good-when-cold test, and were better with ketchup. Coleslaw was dry. My wife's linguine came with clams. She was expecting shrimp because neither of us remember seeing clam linguine on the menu and we both remember shrimp linguine on the menu. When my wife questioned our waiter, he told us that the restaurant had both clam and shrimp linguine. When she ordered he failed to clarify which type of linguine she wanted. My wife and I disagreed on the quality of the clam linguine. She thought it was good. She had to ask for bread to enjoy the linguine liquid. I thought that there was too much garlic on the clams and the pasta was bland. Overall, I thought that the food, with the exception of the beer battered fish and tartar sauce, was average at best and slightly over priced. Service was below expectations. read more

Due to covid-19 and having my dog, I sat out front. Those tables face town, so they're located in the shade by mid-afternoon. It was very pleasant. I got lucky, landing a seat at happy hour, and the burger special was like $6. Silly deal for a restaurant quality burger I would have paid $15 for elsewhere. Friendly staff, great location, but prepare to meet locals, as the area there is very friendly. Had a beer and the burger, both were excellent, (as mentioned) met some locals, got some other dog friendly recommendations, and continued on my way.
