Our food was overall really tasty--my husband especially enjoyed the habanero sauce--and they didn't skimp on the gravy which was awesome. It was just a little oniony for my taste (compounded by a ton of chives sprinkled on top) but still tasty overall. One star off for that and for the fact that it was about $40 for our meal, which felt a little steep. Especially since $9 of that was just for two plain black coffees, and we didn't enjoy the flavor of either roast option. The Reggie - fried chicken, bacon, tillamook cheddar topped with either sausage gravy or mushroom gravy. Opted for the sausage gravy. Best and ONLY thing you need to get when coming here. The reggie deluxe - same as the Reggie but with an over-hard egg. I take my comment back. THIS is the only thing you need. I love me some eggs. Brisket Bricuit - smoked brisket topped with carmalized onion, served with house made carolina gold bbq sauce. This was recommended by the cashier but fell short for everyone. The brisket is not the juciest, which makes it dry with the biscuit. To each their own, but the bbq sauce was not our jam. Blueberry cornmeal pancakes - This was a hit. The family loves corn pancakes to begin with so this was a taste of home for us. Hash ups - hash browns topped with grilled onion, mushrooms, and cheddar. This one was the one we were all excited for but fell short. It was a no cohesive and just thrown together awkwardly. The cheddar was to one side of the hashbrowns and then the mushrooms on the other side of the hashbrowns. Chicken Fried steak - You guys know what a chicken fried steak is so I will spare you the description. The steak was rubbery and falling apart like it got beat too hard and become ground meat. I quickly returned it, as everyone took a bite and thought the same. No issues getting a new dish, but that left a bad taste for us. Bourbon carmel cinnamon roll - Looks amazing but fell very short for us. Very cinnamon roll. Sweet tea - very tea forward and in a small glass. Overall I would come back just for the Reggie and blueberry cornmeal pancakes. Service was good. Cons of this place is bussin your own tables at the end. Come early or near closing to minimize wait time. Actually walked by it by coincidence a few hours before I planned to visit and there was a line outside. This is downstairs from our apartment so I've been here a few times out of convenience but really enjoy the food here. The biscuit sandwiches with fried chicken (we've probably tried all of them at this point) are great, I usually get a special chicken sando, but what I really like are the house made pop tarts. The cinnamon rolls are very good as well. Service is a little clunky at the counter, our last encounter the cashier told us where the coffee was after ordered, which made Deanna F assume it was free, which it was not. The indoor seating was very loud so we opted outside. Thankfully, it was a cooler week because there weren't any umbrellas at the picnic tables. My review is a bit conflicted... Pros: loved the take on the "pop tart" and the rotating flavors of pop tarts that they have. It is pretty sweet, but delicious. The perfect crisp and flavor for the pancake. Cons: The biscuits were REALLY DRY, and this was surprising since this place is based around their dishes with biscuits. You have to bus your own table, so you clean up your dishes and table after. Parking is awful, it is downtown so you may have to park far or pay for parking at a meter. Because it is downtown, there are a lot of unhoused that hang out outside the restaurant, so that ruined a bit of the ambiance with noise levels and disturbances. Got here on a Thursday morning around 10:50am usually this place will require a wait on the weekends so come during the weekdays if you can. Still crowded but no wait today Ordered the Reggie deluxe the only difference is the fried egg on top. I forgot to specify that I wanted it over easy as my egg was cooked all the way through... probably on accident but again I'll put that on my self for now. Food is delicious as usual. They have some different hot sauces to choose from, a habanero sauce, Texas Pete hot sauce and ketchup. The habanero sauce is actually hot so if you're not in to spicey, I wouldn't even try it, the heat hits instantly . Besides that it add me a different layer of depth. The service ruined an otherwise good experience. There was this hostess? server? Short little miss attitude with glasses that apparently gets flustered when people show up at their place to eat and she let it show. One person sat out large party at table 47 and 46. We sat at 47 and ordered while the rest of our group was parking. When the rest sat down, miss thing gave our table away to some other group inside the place and yelled, "we don't save places for people". Highly flustered (and rude) we explained that our table wasn't "saved" but to keep her from losing it even more, we all crammed in to 47. We ate, left , and won't be back. Too many other places that appreciate it when a good sized party patronizes their establishment. It's a shame because we come to town several times per year and are always up for new places. My boyfriend's food came about half an hour after mine. Apparently they forgot about his food so when we finally asked it they brought it out and it was cold. By this time I already finished my food. After we asked about our food being late the staff seemed to be mean after the encounter so definitely not a great service experience. I got the Brisket Biscuit. Overhyped and Overpriced Tried this place for the first time after seeing all the great reviews. I told the cashier it was my first visit and asked for a recommendation--something with eggs and maybe sausage or bacon. She suggested the Moneyball Double with sausage. With coffee, it came out to $26 before tip. I was surprised at the price and asked to remove the sausage, which brought it down to $21 before tip. For that, it was just one biscuit (cut in half), two eggs, and gravy. The gravy was good, but honestly, there are better breakfasts in town for less--and with more food. Overall, not worth it for me.
