Reno Bar and Grill is definitely worth checking out! The vibe is casual but still feels a little elevated, and you can easily get out of here for around $20-$35 a person depending on drinks. The burgers are the star for me big, flavorful, and actually worth the price. The hand-cut fries were a nice bonus too. Good food, good atmosphere, and a solid addition to Reno's local restaurant scene. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu! First time coming here, and this will NOT be the last! Pictured in this review are the portobello Wellington and the steak frites, both phenomenally cooked with an insane amount of flavor. All working well together. The portobello mushroom was a large portion, and the crust was perfectly crunchy and did not get insanely soggy with the portobello in the middle. The portobello? Flavorful. Amazing. I couldn't ask for a better dish. Additionally the steak frites were so yummy, the steak was tender and perfectly cooked, medium rare was on-point. The chimichurri was nicely paired and the fries were GREAT! Drinks were all delicious, the Negroni was one of the best I've had and also sampled a special. Additionally, their old fashioned was very well sculpted with wonderful flavors. Will be back again for their drinks too! The service was phenomenal and attentive, and had a chance to talk with the Owner, a great experience and overall 5/5 service takes the icing on the cake! Let me just start by saying I can't wait to return! We arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. We tossed around some different restaurant options as we had limited time as we were heading out to the UNR football season opener. The restaurant was busy, however it wasn't packed. My dad has a hard time hearing so we opted to sit on the patio. The noise level in the end was about equal, between the road traffic or the ambient music. We both opted for the Cajun Jambalaya pasta. I really love the food here and then the environment creates a place to sit down and have fun with your loved ones or friends. Great food, not all frills. The chicken skin nachos blew my mind. The crunch, the flavors, and the homemade sauce. The wings are rival to ones I've had in Buffalo, NY. Finally fresh blue cheese sauce. The wings had a great crisp. Finally got around to trying this place! It is located on east 4th Street and they have a dedicated parking lot right outside which made parking easy. We made a reservation and were seated promptly upon our arrival. The inside is more spacious than I expected and one side is lined with windows looking out at 4th Street. Entrees were more expensive than I expected, most being in the upper $20's to lower $30 range. I went with the Reno Burger and had read great reviews about their infamous "cheese skirt"--it lived up to the hype! The cheese is melted together into a hard crunchy layer at the base of the burger. It's a nice twist on just having regular cheese on a burger! The burger itself was large and filling at 1/2 pound with plenty of toppings plus fries as a side. Our group split a "single scoop" of their homemade ice cream at the end which was only $9 but came out in a huge bowl big enough to share between multiple people! They had multiple rotating flavors to choose from and it was delicious. Overall, we had a good experience here. Service was adequate and food came out in a timely manner, even during a prime dinner time on a Friday night. I think more affordable prices would make me come back sooner, as most dishes are more expensive than what I'd want to spend at a "bar and grill" type restaurant. We have wanted to try this place for sometime and we decided last night was the right time. What an absolutely fantastic experience. We weren't very hungry so we decided to share a couple of appetizers. The stuffed lollipop lamb chops were out of this world with flavor! We decided to try somewhere new to us, this place was it. Thankfully we were well after the lunch rush, so we had our choice of tables and good service, after they realized we were there . It was just nice to sit down at a table with proper good napkins! The blackened shrimp salad was huge and quite tasty. Shrimp was a tiny over done, but flavor kept me digging in. The fried oyster mushrooms were great! Super crispy and toothsome, the sauce was sticky and oh so good. They stayed crunchy even taking them home. Now, the best part was the last part: ice cream. We get our order, with the little stick inserted that had the cook to order status. All burgers were well done. The French Fries were excellent. This was our first time in, had seen several different posts and was on our must come list. So glad we did. Greeted right away and sat down. Our server/bartender came and introduced himself and told us the specials. We ended up ordering one of the appetizer specials, the Halibut Collar with Asian Sauce. It was really good, we did ask for a little more of the sauce though. Which they make themselves. Loved the cocktails, so many to choose from. Let Jack help us select. Jack was our server/ bartender and provided a lot of great suggestions and service. I can see why this hot new restaurant is doing so well. A unique menu that has so many great options. A Michelin awarded chef is a reason why the food is delicious and the specials run out. The Cajun pasta was fantastic. My shrimp and grits were great as well with a hint of citrus. Wine selections were excellent. Open for lunch this may be a great option during the work day. Did I mention the ice cream. Made in house and scrumptious. The waygu meatballs tasted fine but they were cold and the cheese on top had hardened. I'm sure that dish would have been better if the cheese was hot and melty. We enjoyed our first visit to Reno bar and Grill. The menu has quite a few Cajun options, which is something new and different you don't see everyday in Reno.. I ordered the steak fritters, which was a wonderfully seasoned New York I believe with chimichurri that was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth along with the crispy fresh home fries - this dish was a win. I would order again and again, and my husband said he would go back for after tasting. My husband got the jambalaya, which was a combination of chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage that was flavored perfectly and that he really enjoyed particularly the sausage that was used in the dish. We also saw some wonderful looking pizzas coming out of the oven and burgers that we would try on a next visit - but the steak will be hard to turn down. They were busy this night with a lot of people coming in and we had to wait a bit for a table, but the service did the best to keep up that they could. The bar area was rustic and had a great menu and vibe - I would've even enjoyed eating at the bar, but we opted for a table. I didn't catch our server's name, but he read the table well, attentive without hovering, and gave us space to actually enjoy catching up. I ordered the steak sandwich, and it wasn't just a sandwich. So glad I finally had a chance to give this place a try. I had heard so many positive things about the food, that when my regular lunch buddy said 'YES" to my suggestion I felt we were on the right track. We were treated warmly and water and menus were provided right away. Since we like to save room for desert, we decided to split the Shrimp PoBoy with a generous serving of french fries. Our waitress, to save us having to pay extra for splitting the meal, brought us an extra plate to split it ourselves. This place had been getting great reviews so we needed to make a stop here. My family came for dinner and we were impressed by the huge portions of food. A couple of us got the pork belly burger, but it felt more like a gimmick than actually a great burger. I'd love to see thick cut bacon and used instead of pork belly - it's hard to cook pork belly just right and they missed the mark. Sat at a bar table - service was good though bartenders were extremely busy. They are your servers while mixing drinks. Ordered the Reno Rodeo Burger. Sounds delicious though execution a little lacking. Burger cooked perfect, pork belly a little bland as well as cooked just over making it a little tough. The cheese skirt tasted like burnt cheese, ended up taking it off. Friends got the Cajun pasta and jambalaya- both were delicious and huge portions. I had heard about the burgers here and all I can say is I was not at all prepared for the absolutely delicious monstrosity I received as a vegetarian, I was excited to try the Awful Falafel Burger and was gobsmacked by sheer size of it. The melted cheese skirt around the burger was delightful to pick at and wrap my fries in for a cheesy potato crunch. The falafel patty was perfectly seasoned and the burger sauce balanced the flavors out really well. Had to take half of it home and was still surprised at how heavy my to-go box was. The burger paired nicely with a Modelo, and you have to end the meal with their house made ice cream (we tried the salted caramel butter pecan, my mouth watered as I typed it out). Came here for their 10 Torr dinner and it did not disappoint! We came in and the welcome flight cocktails were all ready and set. My favorite was spill the tea as it felt the smoothest to drink. I felt a lot of the drinks were acidic as all of them lemon which wasn't bad if you like sour. When the beet carpaccio came out it was delicious. The Rock On Lobster cocktail was my favorite. It tasted like a spicy margarita. Their lobster arancini was yummy as well it tasted like a cheesy seafood cake. Next we had the sorbet which was a good palate cleanser and their cocktail they served was The Green Banana Strikes Again! It was flavorful, fruity, and strong. When the wagyu came out it was flavorful, I really liked the horseradish glaze but I felt it could have a little more savory flavor. The dishes looked good and had a show of modern techniques and flair. The bottom bun was tiny and almost mushed and falling apart by the time it made its way to the table. The fries and their ranch dressing was good. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. It's not a large restaurant so I do suggest reservations if going on a Friday night like we did. I had been dying to try this place out and we were able to before a concert on Thursday night. The atmosphere was very low key and relaxed surprisingly since the food was quite pricey. I will tell you that it was worth every penny. We had a great server named Joseph who was gave the prefect amount of attention to us, not too much and not too little. Joe ordered the lamb chops which he loved and chowed the down with no issues. I ordered the Reno burger and it was very large and wagu beef which was amazingly yummy from start to finish. The lamb chops were $27 and the burger $21 for your FYI. The only issue and the reason for the 4 star rating was because I felt my burger was overcooked. I ordered medium and I felt' it was closer to well done. Since the meat was such good quality I should have said medium rare but whatever...The fries were also great from good potatoes and cooked perfectly. Another small issue is the toilet paper had run out completely so that was a small issue ( thank goodness for seat covers) I was happy to let them know on the way out.
