Pine State is one of my favorite places! I used to go to the Portland State Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Some of my fondest memories from college! Now on to the biscuits... I live in Las Vegas, but I have travelled a good amount to the Reno/Sparks area and love to go to Lake Tahoe. I have gone out of the way and above and beyond for these biscuits. Fortunately my husband is a lover, so not a hard sell. I am not a breakfast, fried chicken, or biscuit girlie, but a simple fried chicken biscuit with honey butter is my #1. Everyone I know loves the Reggie if you're a biscuits and gravy lover. The mimosas and Bloody Mary's are on point as well. I would kill if the owner would open up one in Las Vegas! I've told anyone I know who lives in the area or who is visiting to try this place. It's amazing with friendly staff and in the chill midtown area of Reno. First time at this cool little joint. You walk in an order. They will give you a number tent to place on your table. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside. We ordered two bloody Mary's and the Cinnamon roll with bourbon glaze. However, they offer some AMAZING looking biscuit sandwiches that are loaded to the ceiling! Topped with eggs, cheese, all kinds of different meat options, these sandwiches would be hard for many to even come close to finishing. Our Bloody Mary's were severely lacking flavor. While they came with a nice garnish of cocktail onion, peppers and two half slices of bacon, they were weak on the vodka and low on taste. They would have won me over by just using Zing Zang for their mixer as the blend they used was quite underwhelming and flavorless. This was more disappointing once you see the price per drink! $32.98 for two bland drinks and a fancy donut. Pricey. My husband and I first tried this place in Portland, so we were so happy to see they have a location in Reno. We were excited to try it again and ordered the biscuits and gravy and The Reggie. The food came out hot and quickly after we ordered, which we really appreciated. You're not able to reserve a seat until after you order, which was totally fine with us. There's seating available both inside and outside. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and parking is street parking. We're glad we got to enjoy this spot again in a new city! read more

What an absolute banger of a find. It's next to impossible to find a good southern biscuit this far west, but Pine State has it figured out. I tried the McIsley (fried chicken, dill pickles, ground mustard, honey) and nearly passed out from pure bliss. The biscuit is golden brown on the outside while warm and pillowy within. You'll need a fork and knife, but the menagerie of sweet and savory building blocks will come together any which way you deconstruct it. My wife tried The Chatfield (fried chicken, cheddar, bacon, apple butter) and was equally content. The Oregon Marionberry jam was a tart yet sweet customized side, and I much enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese to round off the plate. The breading is evenly blasted with seasoning and the tomatoes themselves are plump but not the least bit soggy. Without a doubt though, the service was unmatched. They handled a line going out the front door with class, getting us tables before we even ordered to remove the burden of seat searching and our food getting cold. They checked on the dining area promptly though they didn't have to. The staff's hospitality matches the southern inspo of the food! We sat outside and enjoyed the slight breeze as the heavenly baked aromas of the kitchen wafted outside. Overall, an 11/10 experience. Love biscuits? Run, don't walk! read more

I always try to make it to Pine Street Biscuit when I'm in the area but haven't been in a couple of years. This time I tried the Shrimp and Grits and the Cinnamon Roll. I remembered the Shrimp and Grits with sausage and less salty but this time it had bits of bacon. Love the Cinnamon roll. It perfectly pairs with the Shrimp and Grits making a sweet salty combination of flavor. The roll was soft both the outer and center layers. The sauce had maple like sweetness. Took a drive up here to try out the biscuits at a friend's recommendation. Place was clean, a little busy around 12:45p on a Sunday. Staff were welcoming and pleasant. Prices were not bad. Self serve water, habanero sauce (def recommend), and utensils. I appreciate the expectation that you will leave your space clean (bus your own table after eating), although they do bring out your food -- (I am being serious about my appreciation of the sign that asks this, it's great!) I ordered the deluxe Reggie Deluxe: 4.2/5 overall - got the mushroom grave - biscuit was tasty, home style - chicken was tender and crispy Overall, pretty good for under $20. I ordered from here before and remembered enjoying it, so I was looking forward to eating here instead of taking it to go . Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to that first experience. The atmosphere just wasn't very inviting, and the biggest disappointment was the silverware it was visibly dirty. That's something that's hard to overlook, especially at a sit-down restaurant. The food was decent. and based on my previous visit, I know they can make a good biscuit. It almost feels like this might be one of those places that's better suited for takeout than dining in. The gentleman that took our order must have been having a bad day the service was brass to say the least . My husband found this place on yelp. He enjoyed his meal while I did not. My sausage patty had an odd taste to it and I had asked for my fries to be extra crispy, which they weren't. He gave it a 4 since the mushroom gravy was delicious while I gave it 3 stars. I feel like it was the most uneventful breakfast as was their biscuit. This is a tough review to write. We first ate at Pine State Biscuits in Portland and were excited to see an outpost in our new hometown of Reno. The biscuits themselves were good--solid, well-made, and familiar. But the overall experience didn't quite land for us. Biscuits, at least the way I grew up with them, are meant to be cheap, easy, and comforting. My husband and I ordered two biscuits and one coffee, and the total with tip was over $40. They were good, but they weren't $20-each good. At that price point, I'd expect a biscuit to come with a side and a coffee, or at least feel like a complete meal. What made it more frustrating was the lack of flexibility or warmth in the service. I asked for mustard and was told they didn't have any. When I asked for pickles instead, I was told it would be $3 for a couple of slices, which felt unnecessary and a bit nickel-and-dime. My husband genuinely loves this place and would happily go all the time. For me, though, the combination of pricing and customer service makes it hard to enjoy, even though the food itself is good. AMAZE BALLS. By far thee best breakfast biscuit I've ever had. The biscuit isn't hard on the outer crust or hard anywhere honestly! It's moist, buttery, and flakey and just oh so good. The bacon was cooked harder than I like but still good. Cheese wasn't melted and that was kind of a bummer but the biscuit itself was so good I didn't even feel like microwaving to melt the cheese. I prefer a much more flakey and buttery biscuit, these were a little closer to cakes for me. Reggie Deluxe - pretty good, but the thick slice of chicken was a bit bland and the batter for fried chicken wasn't what I was looking for. Egg and bacon were good. Country Fried Steak - this was alright, kind of a tang and sour flavor to the meat or breading. The biscuit and mushroom gravy was good. Biscuits and Gravy - this also had decent biscuits and good gravy. I would prefer the flakey and buttery style these just fell a little short. What a great find! This was our second time eating here and wasn't disappointed. The restaurant is open and fairly quiet. This is an order at counter then food brought out. The food came out quicker than o got to the table with my coffee. The biscuits have a crunchy bottom with a soft and fluffy inside . The menu has a great assortment but biscuits are the go to. My wife and I split a biscuits and gravy plus an extra biscuit on the side. They have very tasty sausage gravy or mushroom gravy for vegetarian diets. Came in to put myself in a food coma before the long drive home. When you walk in, menus are at the door and they ask that you first order before heading to a table. I ordered the Money Ball with mushroom gravy and was caught a bit off guard when I was asked if I minded it coming with scrambled egg. I asked if they don't do over easy anymore (as it's stated on the menu) and the girl at the counter said they do... but they prefer not to. I requested to keep the over easy. The house made mango hot sauce packs a ton of heat, so just use a little if you don't want it too spicy! The mushroom gravy is definitely mushroom forward (think cream of mushroom). While I would order it that way again, I'd probably opt to try the sausage gravy first. Biscuits were nice and fluffy- not crazy dense. I also ordered a Bloody Mary, which I went back to the counter to ask for, as the food came first. They quickly got it prepared for me. The Bloody Mary itself was decent. Not on my list of things to order again, as it didn't have much taste outside of horseradish, but the bacon garnish was nice and crisp. Overall I'd rate 3.5 if Yelp would allow. read more

This low key breakfast joint has mastered the art of the chicken breakfast sandwich. If you don't know what a Reggie Deluxe is then you probably should find out soon! The biscuit is top notch and inspired in Portland OR so there is a nice story about the success of this small business. Next choose your table and they bring your food out to you! I had some difficulty with one of the menu items it says 2 eggs and hash browns $5, but I noticed I was charged $5 each. It's not what the menu says. I would advise the owner to change the entry on the menu. I asked to remove the $5 hash browns. The Reggie was delicious, it's big so my husband and I split it and I had the side of scrambled eggs. The Reggie has a little spicy kick to it, but was good. I asked for a splash of orange juice when I ordered my mimosa but I got the opposite. I would definitely go back and try something else and order the Bloody Mary they looked good. read more
