I have to say, I'm a little confused by some of the negative crab cake reviews here. I understand people have different tastes, and I also am a skeptic when I hear something is "the best." All I can say is I get crab cakes anywhere from the Baltimore area down through Florida and these are the best I have ever had. The cake was all crab - no filler - and was well seasoned. Cute place, haven't had a chance to try the outdoors since they remodeled/expanded it yet. My usual is the crab cakes. Green beans are excellent as are the baked beans. Nope on the coleslaw. Fries can be hit or miss, we've had them come out very very dark burnt tasting or barely cooked. Husband loves the key lime pie, ribs and fish specials. He also likes the 2 for 1 drink specials. We had an early lunch here today, 12-26-20. We've eaten here many times before. If I had to base my decision on whether to return, solely on this meal, I would not go back. I ordered a Crab Cake, which came with 2 sides. I chose Cole Slaw and Fries. The fries were very brown, oil soaked, and barely warm. The crab cake was also oil soaked, and more warm than the fries, but definitely not hot. I didn't finish eating either, told the waitress about my issue, and she took the plate away. When the waitress returned, she offered me a piece of key lime pie on them, because "they agreed, those fries should not have been served". A piece of pie? I came in for lunch, not dessert. I will say, their Crab Rangoon is still THE BEST I've ever had, and had it today. read more

Three stars might be overdoing it. We liked Robbie's reef better, but hey. Like Good Beer? Go elsewhere. The best they offer is Stella which is sayin' somethin' that should stay quiet. Whoever their bar manager is needs to step out of the eighties - ever hear of craft brew? There's plenty plenty brewed right in these Florida environs - leave the bud light for the little old ladies and the college freshmen please. They do offer their very own type of craft beer but it kinda sucks - half my glass was full on leaving which speaks the proverbial volumes. They slapped up some generic looking fishing signs and such seemingly from t j maxx. As for the food - The coconut shrimp app is ok but that's an easy one . My fish sandwich featured a little square of dry something among some hockey puck-like 'bread'...the sides were kinda booooring. Everything here just feels kinda...generi This seems like the kind of place you'd bring some visitors you don't really like. Maybe they'd get the message and not come back for a visit the same way we won't be coming back here... . To the simpleton who wanted to give this joint six stars ?!?! We agree! Went there yesterday afternoon for to go grouper tacos. Had a draft beer while waiting. Quite pricey at over $49 for a to go order and draft beer. Bartender didn't offer me the second "happy hour" beer while I sat there. Had to ask for it and she seemed to have forgotten about their special. Even with a draft beer at near $7! The place was pretty empty and the manager came out to talk to two others about football. Walked right by me, looked at me but didn't bother to ask if all was ok. Took food home. The grouper tacos were very scant on the fish and full of filler. Most definitely not worth $20 for two tacos with limited pieces of cut up grouper. Will not return. read more

Several years ago the food here was good, but today the fries were overcooked and cold and the grouper was on the fringe of being too old--limp, no white flakiness inside and soggy breading on the outside. It has been steadily going downhill. I won't be going back. read more

I had the shrimp and it was the definition of mediocre, they weren't even warmed up that much, the milkshake tasted like it was mixed with water. The calamari was dry and tasteless, string beans were tasteless. Service was great, nice location. The food was not word famous in a good way. read more

Be careful if you order their most expensive meal, Alaskan King Crab at $75.00 per plate, because not only did I have one but two a few days ago that came to the table so soft the only utensil we used was a fork. By the time we got to the meat it was cold as was the butter; however, we ate it because crab meat is good no matter what temperature it is, but, for a whooping $75.00 it should have been served perfect. Our wives both had good meals with the ribs and the mahi mahi so all was not lost because happy wife happy life; however, we can now mark this restaurant off our list of go to places to eat crab legs. read more

This place looks festive and fun. The menu is packed full of awesome seafood. We've been grazing all week, so decided to split the conch fritters and clam dinner. The conch fritters were glorified hush puppies, barely any meat to them. They were small and pricey. The clams were very big and delicious, but not many to the order. All in all, just ok. We came here for a family dinner ahead of a wedding weekend. The bar was running a 2 for 1 happy hour which was a really good deal. Our table was not prepped for the right size party, instead of adding a table, the staff just added some chairs which made the seating situation very tight and not the best environment to socialize. The pinchers on the appetizer were very good. I got the ahi tuna as my entree and it was weirdly tasteless, absolutely no taste at all. The server asked if I liked it, but then didn't offer to have me order something different when I said I didn't care for it and sent the full plate back. Had the worse meal I have had in many years. The crab was supposed to be cold and was hot instead. Waitress said oh maybe it was just cooked. Crab had so much seasoning it was not edible. When my daughter took her first bite she could not eat it. I brought it to the attention of the waitress who brought her a menu to order something else. Took it off the bill or told the manager? Heck no, I just had to pay for another meal to replace. My daughters boyfriend had a grouper taco. First bite and you guess it fish bones. This past Sunday, my wife and I, along with her three sisters, celebrated her birthday at Pincher's in Venice, FL. We were greeted with a smile and the host seated us right away. We all had cocktails and an appetizer and order Alaska Crab dinners. Everything was wonderful except the Crabs were delivered with a butter oil which was terrible. We asked for the manager for real butter and our waiter brought to our table what he said was real butter, (but is was NOT ). We were ALL DISAPPOINTED with the Crabs and felt that we paid $44.00 dollars per Crab Meal. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST that for beautiful meal of Crabs to be ruined by a substitute oily fake butter, that you would reconsider serving the REAL STUFF for that kind of money. I went with a group of 6 on July 4th to the Pinchers location in Venice. While browsing the website, my wife discovered a promotion for $100 worth of gift cards for $85. The website referred to the gift cards as virtual "instant savings" cards. We decided to buy the cards prior to our visit. The 6 of us spent $175.00. (plus a $35 tip) When checking out we were told by a Manager that they could not accept the cards because there was a 24 hr waiting period. I showed the Manager the website and the fact that there was no reference to a waiting period. She could have cared less and just told me that we could not use the cards. The waitress then told me that the "instant savings" just meant that I could buy them online. Really?! This company does not stand behind its own gift cards. I now have $100 worth of gift cards sitting in my email. My family is only in the Venice area until Saturday July 7th. I decided to contact the corporate office via email to discuss a refund of these cards. No response. I now have to dispute the charge with my credit card. We are annual visitors to the Venice and Sarasota area and this was our first time to this Pinchers location. I can honestly say that this was a situation that left a really bad taste in my mouth. The website should indicate a waiting period and the Manager should have been more accommodating. There are too many great restaurants in this area to be wasting your time here. The food is average at best. And the local staff and corporate do not care about customer service. Go elsewhere!! read more

Excellent fish and chips. Fish was very fresh. Appreciated the generous amount of Tatar sauce that was provided. Fast hot and fresh.

We had lunch at Pinchers and were quite disappointed. The crab dip was watery like soup. The crab stuffed shrimp had little, if any, crab meat and the shrimp were under sized. Sorry Pinchers but we won't be back. read more
