Delish! I know where we'll be ordering a pie from when in the Pasadena area. Pie Life! So good! We ordered a couple slices over the weekend when stopping off at Jones for a latte, next door. The White Pie (olive oil, mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, basil, garlic) is fantastic! The Meaty (pepperoni, sausage, meatball, mozzarella, house sauce) was good too, but I don't think we had a meatball and the pepperoni weren't abundant on our slice, perhaps it wasn't the best slice representation of this option. If I had to choose one over the other to order an entire Large (NY style 8 slices) I'd go White Pie for sure. The crust is so good, and I'm not usually a crust person at all. I'm definitely more of a toppings lover but the crust really stands out to me here. The staff were very friendly, the super cute pie garland around the window, want! It was lunch time, and I was starving at my doctor's office. Had my annual physical and blood work so I haven't had anything to eat since the night before. I found Pie Life Pizza on Yelp while at the doctor's, and I was pretty excited that it was really close and that it has amazing reviews. Ended up being disappointed with Pie Life Pizza however, and my rating is 3 stars overall. Ordered the two-slice pizza lunch deal with a bottled water for $8.50 (4 stars). Pretty reasonable for the price for a good amount of food for lunch! Also, the staff was pretty welcoming and friendly (4 stars). I felt very much at ease even though it was just my first visit. Not all the pizzas on the menu though were available by the slice, so I ended up choosing the White Pie Pizza and the Meaty Pizza. Would have loved to have tasted the BBQ Chicken Pizza, but it was not available (2 stars). To me, the pizzas at Pie Life tasted okay, but seemed little dry and lacked a little fat (2 stars). Perhaps a little drizzle of olive oil? Out of the two pizzas that I tried, I think the Meaty Pizza was the better choice compared to the White, but I also felt that it wasn't meaty enough. Mamma's Brick Oven Pizza in South Pasadena is still my top choice for New York style thin crust pizza. The pizzas at Pie Life Pizza tasted like healthier versions of Mamma's Brick Oven Pizza (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mammas-brick-oven-pizza-and-pasta-south-pasadena). If I'm eating pizza, I want to feel like I'm eating something I really shouldn't, not a healthy-tasting pizza. Willing to come back however and give Pie Life another chance. After a Hectic Week, Hectic Weekend, all we want to do is curl up on the couch in front of a fire, watch the Golden Globes & eat some pizza (ok, so its me that wants to watch the Golden Globes). On our way home from a party, we found this place thru Yelp and called ahead to place our order. We almost passed it because there's no sign from the street and its located amongst a bunch of warehouses on Raymond. Its a tiny parking lot shared with some other businesses, but on Sunday evening, it was easy to grab a spot. Its just a walk up window, but there are some high top tables outside to stand and eat. While waiting for our pizza, we grabbed a couple of sodas and chit chatted w/Erica & Joseph (owners?). They were super cool & friendly. They've been open only a couple of months and have done no advertising, so their name has spread "organically" or thru Yelp. Haha! So we raced home with our Loaded Pie (pepperoni, sausage, onion, green bell, olives, mushrooms & garlic). Grabbed a slice and was delighted by this NY Style Pizza. My favorite pizza! My best friend and I go here and pair the pizza with the coffee from Jones next door. We order the white pie which has no sauce, olive oil, ricotta, parmesan, garlic and basil. It is super simple and not oily. The crust is not flimsy which is what a lot of pizzas are like. It keeps its shape and light. There is a good amount of ricotta where it is not overbearing and the basil was perfect and fresh. Usually one slice is just enough but a second slice to take home is a good idea. Definitely try this place out. The service is awesome and everyone is nice. There is a very little wait so you are not starving and getting upset for the food to come out. The place is rather small and the seating is outside but the environment is very homey and fun to hang out. Be aware that the parking is limited so be prepared to park on the street if you have to. read more

How unfortunate that I had to discover this Delicious place right after my intent to eat healthy because now that I have discovered this deliciousness, that goal seems to have gone out the window now. I ordered (over the phone) a half pepperoni half loaded pizza today with meatball and without the olives and man oh man was it both so good that I actually stood right outside the back seat of my car and wolfed down two slices to the confusion of the person in the car on my left, I couldnt even wait it was so good. I also love how the pepperonis curl up so it has little pools of yummy oily pepperoni juice in each one (I love pizza that has some oil to it so it's a plus for me on flavor). It was so good, I had to order another through Grubhub again on the same night. It tastes authentic in a sense that they used the best ingredients at their disposal. Pizzas are huge and they deliver. Crust is quite thin, a little tough to cut sometimes, and sometimes toppings slide off. I'd like a crispier crust, but for delivery, this is pretty good. Amazing za! We ordered a slice of The White Pizza, The Meaty, and The Vegetarian. All were absolutely delicious! I usually prefer lots of meat on my pizza but the The White Pizza was great without any meat. First timer and I am hooked! We got to the spot pretty close to closing time, so the options was limited. I was so happy to see that they did still have a slice of white pizza left! The other option was cheese but since the honey wanted protein, the nice peeps here topped the cheese with pepperoni. The smell will want you to eat a whole pie by yourself. Great pizza place, and there aren't many around. Pie Life has a seriously fantastic crust. They have really mastered the crust and the topping/crust ratio, really really good and good enough to keep me coming back. I only wish they would take a hard second look at the cheese/tomato sauce. I'm not a pizza expert but I eat a lot of pizza, and there's something about one or both of these elements of the pizza that is holding this place back from being in the running for best pizza in the area (this cheese/sauce thing has really been eating at me. Take some of the cheese off the slice, eat it, and you'll know what I'm talking about. It's just very cheap tasting, especially for a $5 slice (I would happily pay $6 for better cheese) but As for the sauce, it's just dull, maybe too spiced up, idk.). If they could get to the bottom of that, and deliver on the non crust elements (seriously it's mind boggling how incredible the crust is compared what's on top of it), I'd be here everyday. My new favorite pizza place, but with the disclaimer that you must eat it immediately. When you do, the crust is thin and crispy and heavenly. If you wait too long (5-10 mins), it starts to get soggy and then it's a totally different experience. During my recent visit, I did a test. I got 3 slices, ate one right away (wonderful), ate one during the ride home (got worse over that 5-10 time span), and one at home 10 mins later (soggy and unhappy). I have to say the toppings aren't that great. It's all about the toastiness of the pizza no matter the topping. In contrast, Mamma's pizza has better toppings.
