When making reservations online, you have to make one for each person individually. The ice was a little work, even though they ran the zamboni over before free skate. Staff is friendly enough. There is also a side room inside the rink area to sit and be "warmer". Only rink I've ever been to that does not have a coffee vending machine, but they do have drinks, snacks, and an ice cream (dippin dots-like) vending machine. Note: If you get there a little early for free skate, just walk around all the people outside. They are not waiting to get in, they most likely just finished their game/session and are all just talking. read more

This review is long overdue, but well deserved! I hosted my daughter's 11th birthday party at the LA Kings Ice Skating Rink in Burbank, and it was amazing. Her and her friends had an absolute blast. Noel in sales was incredibly helpful from start to finish. we truly can't thank her enough. We were allowed to bring our own food and drinks, which made everything so much easier, especially since so many kids in our party had food allergies. We also had a Halloween themed party and brought our own food and hot chocolate, and the staff was completely accommodating. It made the whole experience even more special. The entire staff was kind, organized, and super helpful. They made check-in simple by handing out wristbands for our guests and letting us set up the party room without any stress. We had a lot of kids who didn't know how to skate, and the blue dolphins were a lifesaver they helped so much and kept the kids confident and moving on the ice. Everything was fantastic. New to Burbank and just found out there's a beautiful ice rink near by in a nice neighborhood. Parking is easy: they have their own parking lot. You literally just park right outside the entrance. They are currently doing a flat rate of $16/ session (1:30-3pm) during spring break, rental included!! The rink is nice and clean. Everyone is friendly. There are kids, young adults and even grandparents, all having lots of fun together. It kids light up my passion for skating. Ben, the school manager found me an instructor right away - Mary. This is very hard for me to do but hope this will help to make this location a bit more public friendly. The management team has done a bad job on providing a stable and reliable time for public skate time and other amenities for the parent when waiting for their kids. Today was a great example of lack of leadership and management. While most stuff knew the hours set forth for public skating. The management change the hours without notification to the coaches and stuff of that. While the coaches have set time for lessons and training for their clients. They have to find out when arrive at center of the changes and cancel their lessons and look bad in front of all parents that had to now reschedule. I love this location, very close to where I live and would love to be able to use it more often but with this management it is very hard and difficult. When you're inspired by the Winter Games and just want to get on the ice and be a princess too....Pickwick is the place to go. My friend and I wanted to try it out. Surprisingly it's not very difficult to ice skate. If you squash your natural fear of falling, you'll do great. You'll get the hang of it after a few times around the rink. Just watch other people do their thing, and pay attention. We had a blast. It's also well worth the $14, which includes skate rentals. * I recommend that you wear long pants to protect your legs in case you fall. Also wear a long sleeve and gloves as well. Protect your hands in case you fall. The ice is cold. I would have definitely brought my volleyball kneepads and worn them under my pants if I knew any better. Next time! read more

Pickwick Ice was an interesting experience. No complaints whatsoever everything was great. However if it's your first time ice skating I recommend going with friends that's done it before and know how to skate because then it would be much more easier and they could teach you on the spot and give you tips/pointers, then you'd pretty much be able to skate. First off yes is it a fun place to be? Answer is yes only when the food skaters are around. I am a good skater and every time I go to pickwick on Saturdays and Sundays, it's absolutely insane. Way to many people. Sometimes I can't even skate because of the amount of people that are at that rink. Bathrooms smell awful and overall I just don't like the place. Staff are friendly tho and I have made pretty good friends with them because I constantly go there. At the moment on the weekends, they cut the rink at the end to a pretty substantial amount of the ice which just shrinks the overall size of the rink making it feel absurd. First off let's talk about the insane $22 entrance fee! That's insane. Other rinks charge around $15 to maybe even $16. This is not ok and even if you pay online, (they only charge you $17) at the end of the day I kind of regret going here because of the amount of people. KEEP THIS IN MIND. they don't care about how fast people go. I have been hit with seals multiple times because kids just zoom in the middle of the rink. The coaches do barely nothing about it HOCKEY, pickwick quote on quote says that hockey makes more money. Yes maybe but with the price we pay I don't really think so. I just really want this rink to change and have more public skating sessions for maybe 18 and older. NOT JUST FREESTYLE. Go there experience it for yourself but I wouldn't spend my money there. Go somewhere else. There's no refs! They need refs! There's no organization. Stood in the wrong line for a 10 minutes only to be told which line was which. Then people cut the line. They have no rules about older kids using the ice guides and there's only 10 for about 100+ people who showed up. It's Animal Farm and frankly a lawsuit waiting to happen for lack of safety. I used to be an adult skater here for around two years. Finally thought it was time to write this review. I will explain why I give this place two stars further below. For the first few months I really enjoyed skating here and made time in my busy work schedule to come skate here since 2020. The schedule is not really adult job friendly since the classes start as early as 12pm. I really enjoyed the off ice classes that coach Mary taught. She was extremely caring and observed all of our techniques individually. I forgot the other coach's name but she had really long black hair and she was also a really great coach as well I think her name was Laura. Coach terri was also great as well. All truly gems. Why I give this place two stars is because of certain staff members and the skating director . He was extremely helpful at first and maybe because I wasn't able to participate in helping the younger kid classes or voicing my concern for the messy off ice/ballet rooms but it might have been the reason for his disrespectful attitude. I also thought that if we paid for the classes that we were able convert our practice days into early morning practices. I guess at this point that was a "favor" that was never expressed to me before and thought it was optional for everyone since several students did this. One of the times the passes restarted and forgot to get them converted beforehand. I called the staff before heading over if I should just pay for the class and covert them later but they said they can fix it when I was there. I got there late and told them if they didn't mind me practicing with my coach and pay for them after and the staff member had no issue. Then when I came to pay, the staff member mentioned that The skating director B. was in so i can talk to him and get it sorted out. I then talked to Him if I can convert them or if I should pay now since it was a last minute thing and first He didn't hear my question correctly and just gave me a sarcastic answer of I'll get them converted don't worry. I knew he didn't understand so I mentioned it again and then he said that I was stealing and that I wouldn't eat first and then pay at a restaurant (which 90% of them time we do btw). Even though I had talked to a staff member to be extra sure, He didn't even give me a chance to explain myself. He talked to me like a degenerate instead of a customer. I was extremely offended especially being a Hispanic women and never saw him talk to anyone else like this, especially a parent.I didn't fight back and said it looks like you're having a bad day sorry and he just said yeah thanks to you. The pushing point was this. I had a coach teach my classes and what I felt like purposely did not pass me. She had been my previous coach and I did not continue our lessons. when it was time to take the test, she did not teach us the moves to pass until the week after the test. I had confronted her about not passing me for the third time and she was unapologetic and said she will consider my suggestions. Three times with her and she didn't pass me while my other peers looked at me confused as to why I wasn't in the same class as them. I would spend about 700-800 every two months because I believed in myself and this was a dream of mine to do a routine before I was tied down in my career or creating a family. The classes are also extremely packed when I last skated my season there and felt that I could no longer advance in their group classes and decided to go elsewhere. read more

Been coming here since about March 2017 with a friend who is a fairly advanced skater and I have to say the $8 is well-spent for someone of my less than stellar skating experience. Price includes the skate rental, and I'm not sure but I think the public skate is from 8p-10p, You'll find all sorts here, from families with their kids who can barely walk, to guys messing around, ice hockey players and a few who stay in the center of the ice who clearly have a lot of experience, specifically one who I named 'Igor' simply for the heck of it. Watch out for those adorable blue bobby seals; they're an aid to help those who are a little nervous on their blades, but sometimes the 'pusher' gets a little too excited, almost taking out fellow skaters. There's also a cafe inside as well with some hot cocoa variations but I have yet to try any of them. I've fallen off the wayside since the weather has become warmer, so it's difficult for someone lazy as myself to get back into cold-weather clothes to come here, but it's nice to know there is an indoor rink not too far. read more

Facility was well maintained and looked great. Staff was helpful. The ice skate rentals were in good shape too and there is a locker available for rent for 75 cents. The main issue was their check-in process. The line is split into two sections, one for walk-in and another for prepaid. You would assume by prepaying online that you would receive faster service than people who just walk-in right? WRONG. The prepay line was so slow! They only had one person handling the prepaid line and one handling the walk-ins and the prepaid line was easily triple the length of the walk-in line. The people behind me in the prepaid line were grumbling and complaining. The issue gets worse because you have to sign up for a certain time slot to skate and by the time we got checked in and received our skates we lost almost 20 minutes of our skate time. The operations or management of the public ice skating rink sessions on Saturday evenings just plane suck. Did half your staff call out? Why does the rink open at 8:30pm but it takes 45 mins to wait inline to pay and rent skates? So if you arrive at 8:30 pm you will not touch the ice till 9:30pm. One you get your skates you're going to realize you are gong to have a crappy time. Their rental skates are garbage, super low quality and smell like dirty feet. They can't be tightened tight around the ankle so if you're an amateur like me you will not succeed. Waited 10 mins in the crappy snack bar line just to be told they didn't have what was being listed on the menus. Sound system sucks as well. If the cost was more than 8$ this would be a tragedy. read more

We have been coming here for the past month or so on a regular basis. I'm certain that my suggestions will fall on deaf ears, but here goes: 1. There are quite a few staff member who are incredibly rude, that I find it hard to believe that they have a job at all. I'm certain that I am not the only one who has witnessed this, but they are still employed. 2. The facility itself is run-down and in need of repairs. 3. The area where those who are not skating or having a bite to eat, is in need of A LOT of improvements. The door to the room does not close properly, so if you are not skating, it is freezing cold in the room. I sometimes sit by the door and have to get up a thousand times during a session to close it. Lastly, there is a fireplace in the back that could help a lot with the temperature, but it is never lit and the entire place seems to be neglected. It wouldn't take much to make it a great place. I am new to Yelp and hope I am doing this correctly. Horrible rink and too expensive to be worth your time. Brought my kids here after they watched Frozen and insisted on going ice skating. This rink is only five minutes from I where we live, so I decided to bring them here for a 6pm public session on a Sat night. When we got there, we were told the cost for each person is $20, plus I think an extra $20 for a stupid blue toy supposedly there to help kids skate. All in all, the night was basically going to cost $80 for 1.5 hours of skating for 3 people. That's stupid. Since we were already there and since I didn't want to drive to Pasadena, I grit my teeth and bought the over-priced tickets and got on the ice with the kids. The ice was so busy that I was sure someone would get hurt. There were people in hockey skates racing around the ice, ice skaters trying to practice turns and jumps in the middle, teenagers racing each other on the stupid blue seals, and no one there to assist and stop the madness on the ice. To make everything worse, a hockey player and an ice skater got into a fight because he kept getting in her way. I even saw him cut her off on purpose when she was trying to go backwards into a turn. A couple of people had to intervene to stop them from fighting more, but she was really upset because he almost knocked her down and he looked like he was ready to explode and physically attack her. It was scary and a horrible example for kids to witness. Men behaving in such violent ways should be thrown off and banned, but there was no staff member there to intervene. All in all, while the rink looks nice from the outside, people are taking masks off, fighting each-other, paying too much for too little, and not being taken care of by the staff there. I think this is a hockey only rink and they only open to the public for ice skating, but if you want your kids to skate, Pasadena is supposed to start offering learn-to-skate programs and coaches for them. I'm not sure if they have already started it but saw it posted at the rink. Pickwick only advertises hockey around the rink, so I don't think they offer any ice skating programs, but if they do, I wouldn't sign my kids up here anyway. I have since started taking the kids to Pasadena four times a week and it has been a much nicer experience for us. They even put orange cones around the center during public skating so ice skaters can practice turning and jumping there. By the way, if you check prices, the Pasadena rink is like $18 for four hours. This place is $20 for just 1.5 hours. read more

Didn't think I'd be rating this rink again, but here we are. Do you like to pay more for less ? Then Pickwick is your place !! This is a rink that looked at the word "greed" in the dictionary, bowed to it deferentially, and wore it as its cape to ensure they operate solely out of greed than any-thing else. Dear Public: if you read nothing else, read this. Pickwick charges $20.00 at the door for 1.5 hours of skating at 6.00 p.m. on Saturday nights ($16.00 if you reserve on-line through their awful web-site). Pasadena ice rink offers two-hour sessions that start at 7.00 p.m. for $14.00 on Friday and Saturday nights (extra charge for renting skates). They have a 1.5 hour session on Thursday nights at 7.30 p.m. for the same price, and their four-hour sessions in the after-noons are also $14.00. LA Kings Valley Ice in Panorama City charges $13.00 for over two hours of ice time (but, don't go there; too many Covid cases). And, you don't have to bend over backwards to reserve on-line for either of those as reservations were mandated solely prior to LA County lifting capacity limits a month or so ago. Go to those rinks. Don't let a rink that obviously has zero respect for its patrons take your money. Reminder that unlike most rinks, Pickwick was fully and publicly open to skaters and hockey-players during the pandemic, so they aren't hurting for money thanks to the "camps" they were holding for $35.00+ per less than an hour of ice-time (that's only for freestyles; not sure how much they gauged hockey or private ice renters). The management then made the decision that gauging dedicated skaters even more is a great course of action as a thank you for their support towards the rink. Not only are they basically screwing up the Saturday night public session schedule, their end-goal essentially seems to be getting rid of public sessions altogether. You play hockey ? Come on it ! You're a figure-skater ? Eh, you get some a**-early sessions that no one with a job can possibly skate on. You're just trying to get one session in for a sport you enjoy, or hoping to bring a friend or family for a day on the ice ? Haha ! Get the Hell out, you are categorically not welcome at this rink ! They don't want your patronage at all. These people just want to continue licking the feet of hockey players and bowing their heads to them like the gods they think they are. LOTS of butt-kissing going on here for hockey, folks. Management would lick the insides of their boots if hockey-players asked them to do so in order to make more money off of them. For context, my fellow general public skaters, the reason why this is so maddening is that Pickwick's sessions from 8.30 - 10.00 p.m. on Saturday nights prior to the shut-down cost $8.00. I'm not good at math, but isn't that an almost 86% increase in cost ? There had been rumours of moving the evening sessions to an earlier slot before the pandemic so they could fit more -- you guessed it -- hockey in at night, but this price gauging really takes the cake for how pathetically inept the management at Pickwick truly is. Also, what happened to lower prices for those of us who own skates ? We used to get $3.00 off since we paid admission only; what happened to that ? What happened to senior discounts for those who are over 55 ? Screw them, too, as they don't matter to you any-way ? What has happened to Pickwick is the epitome of how to not run a business. They essentially have decided that no one except hockey-players matter and run their business with a middle-finger up at any-one who is not hockey deity. I used to love hockey, but this sort of butt-kissing towards it has made me really hate every-thing about it. Pathetic, pathetic management. Another question: why are people who get injured on the ice not getting proper care ? If you're charging twenty-bucks for 1.5 hours of skating, the least you can do is have some trained staff who know not to move a skater who hit their head, or not shove paper-work at someone who cut themselves on the ice before even taking care of them medically. If you want to run your rink with premium pricing, you'd better offers services that are premium. And, as a note to Anne who rated below...yeah, what happened to the female staff members ? Why is this place just a boys-only club ? The lack of a female perspective definitely explains the terrible scheduling and price-gauging though.... I was wishing there'd be no crazy line or wait, and luckily that came true. Arrived at the beginning of a public session. Great prices. Easy to get skates. No hassle! Made my Saturday a blast! I came here recently on a weekend with a few friends, and I've been here before a long time ago to watch figure skating competitions. Both times it was a good experience. The public skate prices are great and I like that the ice is about level with the ground floor. Some rinks are raised above the ground and have patrons tripping when they get off the ice. The blades on the skate rentals are usually very dull which can be annoying, but is probably easier for inexperienced skaters to use as sharp blades really grab the ice and take more strength to push off of. Overall great rink, and I hope they can keep it going. I'd hate to have to drive out to El Segundo to go skating again. read more

Then I came in and the pro shop manager said that it was $15. Didn't appreciate the wrong price. But either way I paid $15. The front desk lady when I walked in was rude and had a bad attitude. I asked her about adult skating school. She was not helpful and seemed like she didn't want me there. With her attitude and demeanor I decided not to sign up. The pro shop has very limited items. Your choices are 3 figure skates and a ton of hockey sticks. There's only 4 style bags other than a zuca bag. Looks really nice since the renovations! I came to the public skate this afternoon and had a great time! Ice was smooth and the hour and a half session for $16 (that includes skate rental) is a great deal. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Big parking lot with plenty of spaces. There is a snack bar inside. I didn't get anything, but it smelled great and looked moderately busy. Would definitely recommend and will be back! read more
