If you bring your own you don't have to rent or pay a fee, just your ticket for entry. It's been more packed now so the line to get in is longer, getting a table is harder, parking is worse. PARKING: The parking lot is small so I had to park around the block, but it's not a long walk. But now that's it's busier you have to drive around the block tryna find street parking. INSIDE: The place itself is super cute. They have a small store where you can purchase skates and skate accessories, They have tables and lockers, Vending machines, photo booth, the skate rental area, bathrooms and floor is carpet(for safety) and of course the skating rink. FOOD: They also sell food and beverages. And have vending machines next to the rink. Water, Soda, pizza, slushys, popcorn, nachos and a few more things I can't think of right now( basically snacking food). Online they have their calendar with the "events". Each "event" is themed/based on a. Artist, music genre, or age range. Some nights are 18+ others are all ages. So I would recommend looking into the theme of the night before going. read more

It makes me so sad to write this one star review because I love to skate and live so close by and I have bent over backwards to be positive and optimistic about Moonlight Rollerway but there are just too many disappointing and even angering things about this place not to publish. I am doing so in the hopes that the owner sees this and takes the leap to modernize their tired dated and threadbare programs and reinstall the water-fountain they ripped out during COVID. After several skate sessions there over the recent months, I have come to the conclusion that the only reason Moonlight Rollerway continues to stay in business with it's incredibly outdated music, moribund skate night formats, and rigid inhospitable policies, is because nothing else in Los Angeles has come along to replace it. And should that ever happen, if this business does not change, it will be forced out of business. Tonight I paid $25 to go to Rainbow Skate which is usually oversaturated with tired old music much of which has disappearing relevance to modern culture. Some old songs are great but when 1970s songs take up 80% of the 2026 music program, there is a big fat glaring problem afoot. Up until the last couple of weeks, they have had a music request sheet so skaters can alert the fully geriatric DJs of newer music that will resonate with patrons under 60. The DJs even play some of it sometimes. However for the past two weeks they have intentionally failed to provide a music request sheet. Tonight, I was so irritated by this, I have decided to use this review a springboard to call them out on other trespasses that have affected me there. This evening, shortly after the facility opened, I asked the DJ who was well over 70 years of age if I could make a music request and I was told "a little later"... By the time I left early at 10.15 ($25 session lasts until 11 and I usually like to stay until the end), there was never a request sheet furnished and this selfish deaths-doorstep tone-deaf DJ just spent the entire evening playing exactly what he felt like playing, the overwhelming majority of it originally released between 1974 and 1980. Meanwhile, no athletic young person remained in the rink past 9.47pm. I have noticed this pattern over and over and over and over again over the years I have been coming here. Young skaters get annoyed with the lack of modern music, take their skates off between 9pm and 9.30 and leave. And they do not return. I am astonished that the owners and managers do not see it!!!!! I will also take this opportunity to register a few more complaints. 1/ Half of the pay lockers do not work. These lockers eat quarters and dont provide the key more than 50% of the time so you have to spend 50 cents more on a locker with a working mechanism. 2/ The vending machines do not give correct change always erring on the side of the facility which has motivated me to avoid using them. 3/ No water fountain. What the hell are these owners and managers thinking? People are physically exerting themselves and get thirsty. I think it is in very poor faith, exceedingly poor judgment, and stinks of myopic penny wise and dollar foolish greed that they do not provide a water fountain for their patrons forcing thirsty exercising people to spend $4 on a bottle of water (maybe $5 because the vending machines rarely give correct or any change) I have been forced to conclude that the management of this facility must truly believe that since there are no other roller rinks in Los Angeles, they can abuse the public with old crappy music that is picking up velocity in its decreasing relevance, foisting recalcitrant geriatric DJs on unsuspecting skaters who have bought expensive skating rink ticket in good faith. Somebody has to tell them so it may as well be me: These DJs should be going to bingo at Shady Pines instead of lording over a rollerskating rink DJ booth torturing the public with a massive oversupply of tired threadbare 1970s music. OMFG! I have tried and tried and tried and tried so hard to like this place but tonight this ancient hunched over DJ who could barely walk, did not even offer so much as a music request clipboard and this is the main reason I am publishing this clearinghouse of grievances with Moonlight Rollerway. Roller skating is supposed to be fun and energized but these deaf and blind senior citizens that so often control the DJ booth are exceedingly out of touch with EVERY Moonlight Rollerway patron under the age of 45... And in my estimation, once 80% those people patronize Moonlight Rollerway once, THEY NEVER COME BACK. As it works out, millenial and gen z patrons don't like spending $25 to hear music their Great Aunt Eunice plays during her jazzercise class. As my very wise grandmother once said, nothing wilts faster than a laurel that has been rested on and this sums up my current opinion of Moonlight Rollerway. Horrible experience! I went here on a Saturday night with a friend. My friend has special needs and is unable to skate physically, so we wanted to just stop by for an hour to hang out with a friend having a birthday there. Imagine our surprise when we err told it would be $66 for the two of us! There was a flat rate $25 pp, which we would've considered paying, but then there was a mandatory $8 pp fee for skate rentals, EVEN if you aren't skating! To top it off, the woman at the counter, Betty, was extremely rude and condescending to my special needs friend and I. She was a big reason we didn't just suck it up and fork the money over, even though we considered the pricing for 2 spectators ridiculous. read more

Moonlight Rollerway seems to stay in business largely because there is virtually no competition for traditional roller skating in the Los Angeles area. I genuinely hope another entrepreneur eventually opens a competing rink, because there is clearly enough demand to support more than one--and some competition would probably be very good for the customer experience here. We continue coming for one reason: my 8-year-old loves to roller skate. Unfortunately, nearly everything else about the experience is disappointing. The rink is small, overpriced, and inadequately cooled, so spectators who are literally paying for the privilege of sitting and watching their children skate get to do so while sweating. They charge $5 just for a parent/spectator to enter. You cannot bring in water, and even filling an empty bottle with unfiltered city water costs 50¢, with another 50¢ for a refill. Lockers also charge 50¢ every single time you open them. The staff--both at reception and inside the rink--are consistently unnecessarily rude and rigid about their policies. Today was a perfect example. We had literally just purchased our spectator tickets and walked through the door when we realized we had left our empty water bottle in the car. My daughter stepped outside to retrieve it, and staff immediately confronted us about their "no re-entry" policy. We had been inside for approximately 30 seconds. There is a difference between enforcing reasonable rules and treating paying customers with hostility over something completely harmless. Unfortunately, Moonlight Rollerway seems to have little incentive to distinguish between the two because families who want a traditional roller rink in LA have so few alternatives. We'll probably continue coming occasionally because my daughter loves skating--not because the business has earned our loyalty. I sincerely hope that someday Los Angeles gets another roller rink and customers finally have a choice. read more

Came here on a Friday night for their Old School R&B session. My wife bought tickets in advance and handled my skate rental while I went to find parking. The lot fills up fast and the surrounding neighborhood doesn't offer many options, so I ended up parking at the nearby Home Depot and walking over like a lot of other people. There was a long line to get in. My wife got inside before me while I parked. When I arrived, I was told I could go to the front since I already had a ticket and skates. I gave the woman at the door my name and explained my wife had already paid for my rental, but she didn't believe me. She shut the door on me multiple times while trying to verify. I had to text my wife to come confirm it. Eventually I got in, but it was frustrating. One of the male employees did apologize to my wife, which I appreciated. We skipped renting a locker and just left our stuff in a bag on top of the lockers. Once we got on the floor, we had a good time. The rink filled up quickly and at times it felt a bit crowded. There was a mix of beginners along the outer edge and more experienced skaters in the center, with everyone trying to find their lane. Saw quite a few falls, but the staff in referee shirts did a solid job keeping people moving and enforcing the no stopping rule. They don't allow cameras on the rink, but phones are okay. Overall, despite the rough start at the door, we still had fun. It's one of the few rinks in the area, so we'll likely come back and hope for a smoother experience next time. read more

I enjoy my overall experience other than that. The parking lot is small so I recommend going early before doors open sometimes there is blocked and double parking. You can pay entrance at the door or online to save a few $. Quad skate rental can only be done at the rink, you can bring your own if you have. They have skate assists to rents as well and a snack bar, so no outside food, and lockers are available for your personal belongings. I usually don't bring anything valuable and leave my bag with basics under a bench, but this is at your own risk of course. Music is a fun mix and always a good time. Only downside is their limited parking. Since it is a popular spot, you may need to street park and a block away. read more

I visited Moonlight Roller Way on Saturday with my kids for an open skate session. The first 30 minutes were actually enjoyable -- it wasn't too crowded, and we were able to skate comfortably. Unfortunately, after that, the rink became extremely crowded and the temperature inside became very uncomfortable. It got to the point where it was difficult to enjoy skating because there were so many people on the floor and it was so hot. The concession lines were very long, and the prices felt high. I was also disappointed by the policy that outside water and snacks are not allowed. When I was paying at the window, I was told I could not bring in my water bottle (I explained it was empty), and I was eventually told "ok". However, having to pay 50 cents just to refill a water bottle seems excessive, especially at a place where people are exercising and getting overheated. Plus, having to wait in line is very inconvenient. Overall, the experience felt overpriced for what we got. If the rink were less crowded, better ventilated, and more accommodating with basic necessities like water, it would be a much better experience. read more

This place is a time capsule to the 80s-90s. It's always a great time here and just nostalgic vibes. The employees are amazing- they're mostly the family members that own the place. Everyone is always so kind and in a good mood. It gets pretty hot even though they have ac and a bunch of fans- you're still moving a lot and you will get hot- dress light. I would give negative stars if I could! Stay away! I am writing because we had my daughter and her friends joint birthday party today. The girls were so excited and have been begging to have a party there. The manager there was nothing but rude & hostile since the moment we arrived. She made the two birthday girls cry and told us us we cannot use the desert we brought for our kids which is a candy cake i made for the kids and small cups of shaved ice (I have been to a party here and was served this same shaved ice before!) I was not told that we could only bring cake or cupcakes. It did not say that on the forms I signed. Our kids do not eat cake. Then she said if kids don't eat cake that's why they make exceptions for other things, so I asked them why can't you make an exception for this and she said she wont but wouldn't give us a reason. She said her higher up manager would need to approve it so I asked to talk to her and she gives me a card and says she won't be available until Monday. And then just walked away and never came back. We were supposed to have a party host, no one helped us with anything. Other people on their staff were kind and said they were sorry for how the manager acted and that they would've let us have the desert but for some reason this woman immediately decided to be rude to us. On top of this they up charge for every little thing, the pizzas were teeny tiny and the drinks were served in weird dirty Rubbermaid pitchers. Needless to say we will NEVER be back and tell everyone we know to stay away. If i hadn't already paid the deposit and had 20 kids on their way I would have left. Such a cute and nostalgic place to skate! I'm a beginner skater and everyone here was so nice! The rink is well kept but still had that 80s vibe to it. It got really packed on a Monday night which I was pleasantly surprised! Their hours are a bit late, 2000-1100/1030 on weekdays, wish they were open earlier but it was still fun! Parking is definitely tight but there was a lot of street parking. This is definitely a place I will be going to more often to improve my skating skills! read more

So fun! The four of us all loved it! We went on Sunday at the 1:30-4 session and it was great. There is a bit of a line to get in but once inside it's great! It was not too crowded. We brought our own skates and one of my skates broke and they were so nice to let me use a rental skate without the fee thank you we also got the cheese pizza and chicken tenders and it was good! It was a fun time. I do wish it was a little cheaper so we could go more often but they seem to be doing great so why would they change that. I would definitely come back! Let me be very clear: this place does not want you here -- at least, not if you look, sound, or skate like you're from the culture that literally kept roller skating alive for the last 30 years. The wheel policy is where the bias gets embarrassing. Staff will stop you at the door -- or yank you off the floor mid-session -- over your wheels. Fiberglass wheels which is a stape in the SoCal Skate Community for "floor safety concern," while soft wheels on the rec crowd roll right past without a second glance. There is zero scientific or mechanical basis for this. It is not about the floor. What those wheels actually signal is the skater's community -- and that is exactly what's being policed here. The wheel thing is a well-known dog whistle in the community. Rinks have been using it for years as a clean, deniable way to turn away skaters they've already decided they don't want. "It's a policy" -- sure. A policy applied with laser focus to one demographic while everyone else gets waved through? That's not a policy. That's a pattern. You can feel the culture being managed out of the building in real time. Management has that particular talent for plausible deniability -- nothing they do is technically illegal, so they think that makes it acceptable. It doesn't. The urban SoCal skate community built its entire identity on rinks just like this one, and watching this place treat that community like a liability rather than the lifeblood it is? Deeply embarrassing for everyone involved. Two stars only because the floor itself is decent and the rental skates are clean. Everything else -- the wheel profiling, the coded hostility -- is a one-star experience dressed up in a rink uniform. There are other spots in SoCal that actually want your energy. Honestly I really liked this place lol it was super cute. I came for date night and it was disco night! The playlist was 10/10! I don't think this place is very beginner friendly tho. Everyone on the rink seemed very professional. I felt like the people on the rink were getting annoyed because I was slow (so I didn't like that part LOL). This location is very comfortable because it's monopolized roller skating in its area. There are no competing roller skating rinks to visit if you don't like this one, so for families with kids that need something to do, or if you have a passion for roller skating and want to pursue your hobby on a proper rink-- this is the only place you have to visit. This location is run like an airport. You cannot bring your own water, drinks, or food. They charge you fifty cents to refill a water bottle just to have water, since you can't bring your own. That may seem like a small amount, but with hundreds of visitors being charged for water multiple times during a physically taxing activity, where you have to wait in line to get it, it's a lot. They have lockers for your items, but you are charged EVERY TIME you open and close the locker. If you're a parent who doesn't want to roller skate, but wants to support their children and watch, you are charged five dollars each. Everything about this rink is designed to drain you of your money, and to provide nothing back for it. The AC system isn't adequate-- the place constantly feels stuffy, wet, and moist with sweat from many bodies. It's constantly hot, and the ventilation systems must be breathing their last dying breathes. The entire facility is old. Ancient. All of the excess money that this rink makes is most certainly pocketed by someone, but it's not put back into the facility aside from basic upkeep. This rollerskating rink is not for you if you're on a budget. You can't come here regularly unless you want to burn through your wallet. That being said, if you can't stand rollerskating on the street or in your local sidewalks, this is a functional rollerskating rink. I'm not giving it a one star because it's not literally falling apart at the seams, so you can actually use it. The surfaces are clean enough, and kids have the privilege of looking past the costs and having fun. They do lights, games, and hold lessons. They've got special trainer equipment for people who're learning (each is eight dollars because everything here is charged), and rental skates of every size for every foot (also eight dollars each). Aside from overcrowding and the absurd expense-- it can be fun. read more

Water! You can't bring in your own water. Wondering if that is even legal? You have to empty and pay $0.50 to refill. Also, they won't let you bring in a birthday present. You have to take it outside...how disappointing. You have to rent the entire rink to be allowed to bring in presents, so even if you have 4 kids they can't open presents inside. SMH Only rink on the area so they're going to continue to get away with it but I find it disappointing and the kids all heard all these ridiculous rules as we walked in (as they emptied their water bottles!) and definitely felt annoyed as well read more

What we paid just to get in as a family was outrageous, especially considering the endless restrictions and poor treatment once inside. You're not allowed to bring in water, even for children, and instead are forced to buy overpriced concessions. The atmosphere was miserable. Staff repeatedly yelled at the kids--kids who were simply trying to skate and have fun. There was no patience, no friendliness, and absolutely no customer service. It genuinely felt like the employees didn't want to be there and took that frustration out on customers. The front desk clerk acted as if she had authority to speak down to people. The tone was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate for a family-oriented business. The food was terrible--clearly microwave-quality and nowhere near worth the price. To make matters worse, the way staff interacted with our family felt uncomfortable and discriminatory. As customers who are not white, we felt treated differently and unwelcome, which was extremely upsetting. This place needs serious attention from management--from customer service training to basic respect for families and children. Oof this place is awful. Came here for a birthday party and had to surrender the birthday gifts at the door ("we'll hold them in the office") because the gifts contained food (not to be eaten at the rink, mind you, just as part of the gift). The party area was small and there were old school pitchers of water and very flat Diet Coke. Stale popcorn was also provided. The place isn't air-conditioned and the fans are wholly inadequate. You can't run out to put something in your car, or grab something out of your car. They will charge you to re-enter. They really like their rules and are not shy about enforcing them with a heavy hand. The whole place is very 80s but not in a kitsch way, more in a "we haven't touched the place since the 80s" way. It's old and gross, including the bathrooms. Pretty sure the handicap stall in the ladies room is not ADA compliant. I'd avoid this place at all costs if possible. Only redeeming quality is that the skate floor itself seemed to be in surprisingly good shape. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Moonlight Rollerway, mainly because of the staff. The staff members were rude, impatient, and very disrespectful toward both children and adults. Instead of being encouraging or helpful--especially to inexperienced skaters--they acted annoyed and spoke in a harsh, condescending way. This is supposed to be a fun, family-friendly environment, but the staff made it uncomfortable and stressful. Children who were clearly still learning were treated poorly rather than guided or supported, and adults were spoken to with the same lack of respect. There was no patience at all, just constant attitude and irritation. For a place that welcomes beginners and families, the staff's behavior is unacceptable. Roller skating should be enjoyable, not intimidating. Until there is better training and accountability for how staff treat customers--especially kids--I would not recommend this place. read more

I have to call out the blonde female manager here. For a place that should be fun and welcoming, this employee really ruins the experience. This was on multiple visits while taking my kid to skate lessons, not just her on a bad day. The skate instructors are very nice with great energy, and this woman is the polar opposite. I wanted to share my experience at Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale because it really wasn't what I expected. I'll take responsibility for not checking the website beforehand--that's on me--but the pricing setup was still pretty frustrating. Entry is $25 per person for a three-hour session (8-11 PM), which already feels high. On top of that, if you don't bring skates, you're required to pay an additional $8 for rentals--even if you don't plan on skating. Being forced to pay for something you're not going to use didn't sit right. The food and drink prices were also excessive. Charging $4 for a basic bottle of water is hard to justify, especially when you know how inexpensive it is elsewhere. To make matters worse, outside food and drinks aren't allowed, so you're stuck paying those inflated prices once you're inside. With everything combined--the entry fee, required rental, and high concession prices--it ends up costing way more than expected. Honestly, for that kind of money, you could spend a full day somewhere like Knott's Berry Farm and get a lot more value. Overall, the experience felt overpriced and inflexible. Definitely read the policies ahead of time so there are no surprises. In addition to that, their managers are rude and unreasonable. I will not be back. read more

Imagine growing up in the 70's and 80's in Los Angeles. It was a time of undeniable freedom, none of my friends were on drugs, we were all high on life and and living on the edge! The quintessential representation of the time of course was Moonlight Rollerway! I still skate to this day, 50 years later! The nostalgia and time capsule can transform your age to a much younger time! Most of the staff are there forever and mostly rad! This is a true Time Machine! read more

Rude staff with attitude. Yes, perhaps they hate their jobs, but no need to be arrogant with paying customers who want their kids to have a great time. Super expensive for parties (2.5 hrs) -- equaling about $50/head with very average food; an example of extortion is charging $7.50 for a pitcher of tap water. Automatic 18% gratuity for what service?! Someone, please, open another skating rink to give them some competition. They've monopolized a 30 mile radius/vicinity so they do not care about having good service. Total rip-off. Avoid if you can. read more
