This is definitely not your typical roller skating rink. It's nice and open and doesn't get too busy if you go earlier in the day. They charge one fee ($15) and it's good for the whole day. The only thing I don't like is that they charge you $5 for spectators. Other than that, the music is always good and it's perfect for kids as it does not feel too claustrophobic. I purchased tickets for my daughter and I to roller skate on a holiday. This place is so cool and the girls at the front desk were extremely helpful. The rink is decent sized and there is an area for the kiddos or for people who don't want to skate fast. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because they do not have a walker for the kids/ people who need help with skating. I understand that this is a pop up skating rink but it would be nice to have that instead of having kiddos/ people fall. My skating skills aren't up to par, but I can't wait to give it another try! I've been wanting to try things that take me out of my comfort zone, and I loved skating when I was younger. I came across Pigeon's Roller Rink after a few searches, and let me start by saying that it is not for slower skaters. There is a small area in the middle for slower skaters, but it is not the best. For those who are less experienced with skating, they have different times for different levels. Although the rink is located outside, it is covered. If the weather is bad, the rink will close. Rental skates cost $10 and the price for at least 3 hours ranges between $10 and $15. As you skate, it's like going back in time with the 1970s tero vibe inside. A DJ is offered on certain nights, which is awesome. I had a great time skating with my friends and listening to great music. The place is a great place to hang out with friends. The Wholefoods parking lot offers 90 minutes of free parking; after that, it's $2 for every twenty minutes. This parking lot is close to the ice cream shop. When you leave the lot you will see a Chase bank on your left. Walk on the side of the Chase Bank and you'll run right into the rink. My skating skills need to be improved, so I'm looking forward to going back. read more

TLDR; the staff is VILE!!!! There was a misunderstanding between myself and a team member. She handled it very poorly, lost her temper, snapped and sassed my 17 year old sister and I for an honest mistake. Truly, my bad about the initial misunderstanding. Here's what happened: For the January 6 event: - One flyer said 18+ for the event this night - Another flyer said "All Ages Welcome" for the SAME event I asked her to clarify if it truly was 18+ or not, since we had driven from far just for this event. She called her boss to see how to proceed with letting my sisters skate, who are both minors. She asked if I had tickets, & I responded "I didn't buy tickets for tonight, I have the tickets that you gave me LAST time". (Because a few weeks ago they gave me free entrance tickets. And we were here to redeem our free entrance.) I was unaware, but this interaction gave her the impression that I had made previous reservations for THIS very specific night, January 6th. Misunderstanding. I did not intend to make it seem like I had reservations for this specific night. Because I didn't know I needed reservations. When she was going to check us in, she asked what name my reservations were under. I responded that I don't have reservations. That's when I find out my free entry tickets are called "pigeon passes". Beats me. Idk what the difference is, it's my first time. Why would I be expected to know what pigeon passes are versus other types of tickets that require reservations? I had tickets for my free entry, that's all I know. And that is what I INTENDED to communicate to her the first time. It was a misunderstanding. What happened next was very uncomfortable and intimidating. this was not a passive aggressive situation. She got a HIGHLY aggressive tone and attitude. Before I could further explain, she looked to a coworker to loudly complain about the fact that we had "pigeon passes" (again, IDK what that entails). It was humiliating. I was shocked. I obviously didn't mean to make her upset. The rest of the transaction was heated on her end and I became so uneasy. She gave us our skates and she walked AWAY from us. My sisters and I looked at each other... confused. We didn't know what to do next. I was hoping she would come back and tell me "okay you're all set." Or have us sign a waiver of liability, or something. We didn't know what was next. Since she had completely left I just kind of assumed my "pigeon passes" included the cost of the skate rental and that we were good to go. I thought maybe it was free? Idk????? We slowly started walking away since, well, nobody told us anything. Then she SHOUTS across the way, "MAM YOU DIDNT PAY!" which is totally true because I was not prompted to pay, or asked to pay, or told to wait or ANYTHING. She had completely walked away. So I pay with no issues. The entire time I am STUNNED that she would be so aggressive! Does she own this rink, or what? Not sure why she was so mad. Then my sisters informed me that the same staff member gave them the side eye all night and made them so uncomfortable :( DONT WORRY, Pigeon team members, we will stay out of your hair forever and obviously won't be back because that was legit SO AWKWARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE and I swear I am not a mean person lol I did not deserve that treatment. Fun venue to kill some time at this mall. They have rental skates for you city slickers, you can bring your skates. This place is right inside the middle of this mall. Just park and pay inside the parking structure. It was a little hard to find, just look for the RV camper parked outside of this venue. The check in and pay involves an electronic wavier that you can sign for you and your group sequentially. Our afternoon entrance allowed us to skate until 2 pm. The rental skates were actually in good shape. The rental wheels are urethane and maintained so you are skating safely and having a great time! The age group of the patrons varies from elementary to adults. The floor is clean and maintained for a smooth glide for your skating experience. We are FREQUENT visitors here bc my two older daughters, 8 & 5, are learning and loving roller skating. With it being so close to home, it's a nice adventure out on the weekends. And as a mom with a fresh newborn (just a few months old) I can ensure my oldest are having fun while I watch them having a blast! Unfortunately, we learned on our visit yesterday that they are charging a "spectator fee" of $5/per person for keeping a seat warm and monitoring my children who have already have a paid admission. I'm sorry, I'm not one to complain but this is a horrible idea which I know will come with much complaining and backlash from the community just to make another buck. If you're gna start charging parents $5 to adequately monitor our children and just to park our butts on a dirty fabric bench, then expect to lose business from long time customers. Took a level 1 learn to skate class. Only $40 with skate rental included. Signed up for Deb's class but Deb was replaced by another instructor that day. It was a fun and safe environment learning to roller skate. We learned a lot of basics. How to move forward, how to stop, how to avoid a fallen person, how to weave through cones, etc. It was a great experience. I thought I'd have energy to skate during the open brunch skate afterwards but honestly the class took a lot out of me and I was pretty tired afterwards. Did a few laps after class and then was ready to call it a day. I was recommended to take the level one class again until I'm comfortable with the basics before moving onto level two. Conveniently located in the 2nd & PCH shopping center, Pigeons Roller Rink is smaller than most indoor skating rinks but there is still enough space to have fun. The floor is concrete which makes it smooth and very slippery so if you fall, it will be a harder landing than falling on wood paneling. During the summer months, you get a nice breeze coming through the open wood slat walls. There are plenty of seating and staff is friendly. What better way to break into our new Pigeons skates ? skate at their Pigeons Roller Rink! Entrance is $10 and you choose a 2 hour time slot, which is more than enough time. We chose the 11am- 1pm slot. Sign an online waiver and that's it. They do have rental skates if needed. The rink is rectangular shaped, with carpeted bench seating along the outskirts of the rink. A few fun photo ops sprinkled in the rink as well, so be camera ready : D There was a kids' BDay group during our time. It posed a slight obstacle issue, but we were able to get some practice in. The rink is not large, it did get a little monotonous going the same direction. I think a good suggestion would be to announce overhead every once in awhile to switch direction. My son wanted to go skating so I found this place which is apparently new. They offer 2 hour sessions but it's so small you don't really need more time there than that. There is no outside food or drinks allowed, probably to keep the place clean and keep odors to a minimum. They and a lunch bench out front to eat at and cubby holes for you to put your food. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and really good skaters. It's family friendly, clean and inexpensive especially if you have your own skates. Not much assistance if you're not a good skater though. They didn't have any rails to hold on to so keep that in mind if you are not a good skater. read more

I got invited to a birthday party here, two hours of skating on a Sunday afternoon! It's a great idea for 16 year old teens celebrating, it gets more and more difficult with ideas as they get older! This worked out perfectly, they skated, ate at Shake Shack and then went home to hang out! The location is really cute, with seating outside, they have "Picnic tables" and some shade! Parking is near the Whole Foods area and you can walk on over. The first 90 minutes are free, i paid about $12 for three to four hours I was there. There's also areas where The only issue I had was that slower skaters HAD to be in center, that rule was pretty lame because what if the person just wants to cruise around the floor... oh well! From someone who skates at a high beginner/low intermediate level, I felt like the experience was subpar. It would only be my first pick for a roller rink depending if I'm considering location based on where I'm driving from. I would prefer to go to a larger rink if that was more feasible. I went on a Wednesday night session when there weren't any events happening, so most of the crowd appeared to be beginners. I liked that it was more empty because it meant I didn't have to worry about crashing into anyone. It was amazing for practice as I'm used to basketball courts that have occasional cracks. Pigeons' location in the mall makes it really convenient if you're already in the area, but it's not somewhere I would go regularly. You pay for a 2hr. skate sesh, but the parking structure is 90 minutes free ($2 I think for every 30 minutes after, so it isn't a bad price, but skating here often can add up when you already have to pay for skate entry/rentals if you don't have skates). -It's a novelty for anyone not familiar with the area. However NOW, if you're not a skater, you still have to pay $5 to sit on the sidelines. It's a cute small place with plenty of breeziness and airflow. There's some fun backdrops for that perfect IG photo op. Skates are well worn so they won't be as uncomfortable. Light snacks and drinks seem to be acceptable. I've been to this roller rink a few times and The floor is really smooth and the aesthetics are really nice. However, I felt really bad for the beginner skaters in attendance. I felt like they get trampled on by the advanced skaters. This rink doesn't have floor guards just semi-pretentious staff showing off their own moves instead of really paying attention to the guests and what's going on. Be very careful when coming to this rink as it is NOT I REPEAT NOT a beginner rink, I've seen people leave in wheelchairs it breaks my heart. This is the only roller skating rink in the immediate area! Established during the pandemic, Pigeon's is situated inside of an outdoor shopping mall. Although this was supposed to be just a pop-up , they have been here for about two years now and I was told that they would be here for another year since the new tenant (Apple) keeps backing out of their lease. The beautiful thing about Pigeon's is that they have kept the skating culture alive and it is a beautiful thing to see as small kids young people and old people alike are still skating in the area. The closest other skating rinks are about 45-90min away. Pigeons is a concrete skating rink with ample seating areas. What makes this rink different is that it's an indoor space but with plenty of fresh air so that you don't get all sweaty while you are skating around. I would say the rink is about 3/4 the size of a regular wooden rink, so you can't really get up to your speed skating on but it works. The sessions are about 2 hours and around $15-20 a session. They have roller skates for rent. There are themed nights if you look on their Instagram they will let you know what they are. There are also classes for if you want to get better at skating. This staff is super chill and sometimes they come in skate with you if it's slow Overall this is a great place and a different place to come to and there are restaurants around, so you can totally chill and then skate. read more

This is a very unusual roller rink in a very unusual location. It is situated in a high-end shopping center. Although the actual rink is small, it served my purpose of getting exercise in and it was a fun time. They have several sessions per day and offer roller skating classes. 90 minutes free parking then you'll have to pay a small amount. The floor is cement and not wood so, try not to fall often as there is no "give" to the hard surface. No one will be skating very fast due to the relatively small rink area. Many of the night sessions are themed, such as Funk and R&B night, etc. It's "indoor-outdoor" in a sense, because there are no barriers to the outside, except for the wooden "trellis" on either end, so bring a hoodie in the winter months. No snack bar so get a burger beforehand but you are allowed to exit and re-enter during your visit. Overall, worth the price of admission. I will be returning in the coming weeks. read more

Fun pop up skating rink out in Long Beach. It's nicely decorate with tons of retro furniture and decor and located in a huge plaza off of 2nd and PCH. They even played some old school jams that totally made the experience. The great thing about this place is that they put together special themed nights, offer classes and have great happy hour deals earlier in the day. I recently got into skating and loved visiting this roller rink. The last time I had skated was back in high school so stepping back onto the rink was a bit intimidating. Thankfully Pigeons offered me some elbow and knee pads to use during my visit. THANK YOU! Few things to add.. The place did have a weird odor near the seating area and parking was a bit complicated.
