This carryout order: Italian Beef (#9) - Beef dipped in au jus and topped with giardiniera. Juicy and flavorful. Bonus points for extra au jus for dipping. Best of the bunch. Chipotle Chicken (#17) - Chicken, lettuce, chipotle ranch. Flavor's there, but the chicken is coated in sauce before toasting, which makes it mushy. It would be much better if they grilled and seasoned the chicken first, toasted the sandwich, and added the sauce afterward like a condiment. Asiago Chicken (#6, previous visit) - Chicken, bacon, provolone, asiago Caesar dressing. Tasty but salty, and same issue: sauce before toasting. Grill first, add sauce later. I like that these proteins (Italian beef, chipotle chicken, asiago chicken, Hogfather) also show up on their tavern-style thin crust pizzas, which I still want to try. Why three stars? We are back on a Friday evening to review their pizza. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. We felt welcomed and we ordered a cheese pizza and an Italian sausage pizza. They have this great deal where you can get a buy one and get one for 50 percent off. It's right on their little menu. Total for these two pizzas $19.80 The dining area was pretty cold inside. My husband mentioned it to the crew and they said they would take care of it. they did so immediately. They also indicated they would bring out our pizza. So that was nice. I love that it's thin crust. Very tasty. They do a great job of keeping the lobby and dining area clean and the crew is very mindful of each other as they are courteous to guests and each other. You know, for a fast casual chain sandwich joint, this Pickleman's does a pretty good job of delivering on a solid quick meal. This spring we have soccer every Saturday at Heritage Park and when it ends, our kiddo is hungry so we have often ended up at this Pickleman's as it's on the way home, and is a lot healthier than say, McDonalds on the way home for a treat. The folks working have consistently been super kind, and it's fairly affordable for the three of us to snag a sandwich after soccer. Each time the sandwich is warm, and tasty. I think our daughter would say her favorite part is getting bbq chips, but she always eats at least half of her ham sandwich as well. My only critique is that I'm often freezing when I'm inside, but that could just be a corporate decision on AC, who knows. read more

I was very excited to see a location of Pickleman's not too far from home and it is newly built and opened. From my experiences at both locations in Lawrence and all 3 in KC, the service is always hit or miss depending on time and location unfortunately. Of course we all have had co-workers that go above and beyond expectations while others just show up for their shift. Fortunately the recipe remains consistent with the bread and soup! The tomato bisque is as flavorful and smooth as I remember, complimenting the crunch of the outside of the bread with the fluffy center that soaks up every drop you have left of soup like a sponge! To my knowledge this is the first location with a drive-thru, that's HUGE! This is definitely an in&out type of restaurant, but you are always welcome to dine-in if you want your clothes to smell like a bakery the next day. Great options either way! There was a few technical difficulties with the fancy credit card terminal. I definitely love technology, but also realize it can be a pain at the same time. The staff also assumed I was eating my food in and didn't package any of it to-go as I intended. Small things that can easily be fixed. I will definitely be utilizing the drive-thru in the future. My opening day dine-in lunch experience was okay, with room for improvement. My Chipotle chicken sandwich $8.99 was built to order at the counter, with a good amount of tasty grilled chicken chunks and somewhat spicy sauce on a fresh, toasted bun. The sandwich was smaller than I expected at 7" long by just 2.5" wide. The ordering process was not especially customer friendly. I picked the Chipotle chicken sandwich at the first station but did not specify a bread and wasn't asked which one I wanted, so I ended up with white. A variety of toppings were available in addition to the standard toppings that came with my choice of sandwich. I was asked if I would like other toppings, but neither the toppings bar nor a list of toppings was visible at that station, so it was necessary to instead ask for options. I found the service at the counter to be accommodating, while the dining area was clean and new without background music. This location offered a drive-thru. read more

A $60 order including an 18% tip. Picked up order and we were missing the plain mac and cheese as well as the au jus for the Italian sandwich. Which is OK bc it did not have the giardiniera on it soooo there is that as well. I asked for extra mayo on turkey sand and it was awful. More mayo than turkey or lettuce ( i thought we got chicken salad by mistake). I guess extra is subjective. And there was the 18% tip for not making our order correctly. Pickleman's food is good but if the order is not made correctly and items and componts do not get onto the bag....then it is not worth it. Tbc, I did call regarding the mac and cheese and the manager credited my account including tip. I did not call regarding the other issues. I have always loved this place. Especially love the crunchy thin crust pizza. My go to is pepperoni and we usually get a garden chop salad to go with it. Also just a tip if you're eating here - they homemake all of their dressings so of course we have to get ranch on the side - it's the best. Super clean. Definitely a 5 star all around. Tonight in particular we had a bit of a situation and the manager more than made it right. Tried for the first time today, a convenient stop for a quick lunch. Not very busy for the lunch hour, only 2 other people at tables, maybe the end of the high noon busy hour? Ordering was easy, process was efficient. Reminiscent of Quizno's to be honest. Sandwich was good but on the small side of what was expected. Also a bit pricey for the size. Lunch for 3 people, 2 sandwiches with chips and 2 drinks and a half salad and drink, with a gratuity was just north of $60. I get that pretty much all fast/fast casual food is more expensive now, but I've had sandwiches twice as big nearby for much less. The price will make me think twice before trying again. read more
