Stopped in to pass the time and grab lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I love their lunch special with a personal mini pizza and salad for about $10-11 total. The salad was full of toppings and gave me childhood flashbacks of small town and mom/pop restaurants in the country with their pink sauce. The pizza was decent as well. The crust was not too thin or too thick, I did not like the pickles used in the pizza. They had a bitterness to them, which I just picked out. Overall good food and good value. When I stopped in there was maybe one waitress that seemed to be training someone so maybe being understaff caused really slow service. This Pizza Shoppe location is beyond tired and in need of serious love! Unfortunately I had to use the restroom during my visit and ugh I wish I wouldn't have. There was an overwhelming smell of urine out in the hall and once in the bathroom it smelled like vomit. The floor, walls, and stalls were filthy. Paper towels? All of the salads were wilted and not crisp, and for some reason, the pizza tasted different, basically subpar. I was excited to introduce a friend of mine who moved here from California to pizza shoppe this past Friday. However I was so embarrassed by the food quality when we got it home. We ordered a king butcher block with extra sauce and onions and green peppers and a large shoppe salad without olives. The pizza was soggy and looked and tasted like something less than I could have picked up from the grocery store frozen isle. Definitely not something you would expect for a $30 pie. The large shoppe salad came with one very small salad pink stuff dressing. Which was not even enough for a quarter of this salad. Also they didn't put any ham on the salad?? Again no where close to a $10 salad. Not sure what's going on with Pizza Shoppe these days but when you charge premium prices for your food I expect a premium product. This shrink-flation crap that's going on is infuriating. With tip and tax we were at a ~ $50 meal here for 1 pizza and a salad. Our family has been here quite a bit and was always a lovely experience. We'd tip more than usual and even leave notes on the receipts about how much we appreciated them. I was even recommending them to someone nearby the other day, but now I don't know if I can set foot in here ever again... We were just trying to figure out what we were going to do after we were told we couldn't seat ourselves (as a sign said) for an hour, but then we were told 30 minutes by the next staff member (so what is it? Should we wait? Should we get a to go order?). Then my 5 year old son accidentally knocked over the "seat yourself" sign and they kicked us all out because we were "being too distracting". Made my son cry. We were just shocked. We've been here before and never been treated like this. Incredibly rude and disrespectful staff. I don't recall ever being treated this way at any restaurant, ever. In fact I can't recall ever being kicked out of any place in my life, especially when we're just trying to give them our business with the conflicting information we were given, and trying to figure out what we were going to with our two young children in tow. The weekday lunch special (mini pizza, salad, and drink for $7.49) is a fair deal. My salad was delivered to my table in a couple of minutes, and my pizza was ready before I finished my salad. I had a great experience on a date with a girl that I was inlove with at the time. However, there was one starring inconvience at the time of this date. His name is pizza chef Tucker, and he put a Anchovie on my pizza, which then turned into an Anchovie toilet disaster at home. I don't speak to the girl, being that she couldn't stand the racial slurs I spewed as I bit into the Anchovie mine placed strategically in my pizza. Placed a huge order for a banquet at our school. Holly, the manager, was incredibly accommodating and helpful. She ensured that everything would be taken care of, and it was! Even when we had trouble with one of the gift cards for our payment, she went above and beyond to assist me and ensure that everything we had was taken care of. They deliver the items on time for our order (order has to be over $100 for delivery and placed in advance) and helped us out in every possible way. Love this place! They always answer the phone quickly, and are very nice and competent on the phone, reassuring you your order will be correct. We have never had a mess up, and do carry out at least twice a month. The pink dressing is AMAZING!!! Even on a weekend night, the pizza never has taken more than 25 minutes. Love Pizza Shoppe, but not this location. Every time I have been here I have had a negative experience. The last time we went, we had two separate parties one six and one four. The restaurant was empty except for one booth. The waitress was freaking out when we came in because they were expecting a party event 45 minutes later and she was the only waitress. She was extremely rude and demanding. She automatically put in 18 percent gratuity, even though we were separate parties and sat separately. she did not mention that she did this, so that if we didn't review the ticket we would have tipped on top of it. The time prior to this we held a sports party and waited an hour to get pizza. When we did get it they came out with 3 pizzas for 45 people. Some people waited 1.5 hours to get their first slice. Pizza Shoppe has been a staple pizza joint for some time. This particular location is new to me (just moved to area) so I was excited to see it show up on a map nearby me. The one thing I have to say is this place is hidden and unless you know its there, you could miss it tucked off the road in a small business park . But good news, its the same quality and taste you will find at all of the other locations in KC. The salads are ok (fake bacon bits) but cover it in the "pink stuff", their house garlic ranch dressing and you will thank yourself! Also grab some cheesy garlic toast as an app which is really good. The pizza is a thin crust pie but to cracker thin. The sauce is a nice tomato base but not overall spiced. Wanna know my favorite thing about eating here? The ice!
