This has been one of our family's favorite spots since it first opened. We've been coming here for years, and it continues to be a go-to for us. The service is always quick, friendly, and welcoming. The food is consistently great--I've never left feeling disappointed. One of the things I like most is how reliable everything is, from the pizza to the salads and soups. I usually go for the Mini Mia so I can mix and match a few of my favorites or try something new. The roasted tomato basil soup is especially comforting and always hits the spot. For salads, I tend to rotate what I try, but my go-to is the Sonoma--it's a little different in a good way, and the dressing is honestly to die for with that sweet-tangy flavor. This time we tried the Spinach & Apple pizza in our Mini Mias, and I would absolutely get it again. You wouldn't think apple belongs on pizza, but it really works. Wasn't sure what I wanted for dinner exactly, just knew I didn't feel like cooking; ended up coming here with a friend because Detroit pizza sounded delish! (It was). I ordered the Mini Mia pepperoni Detroit extra sauce, with a spinach and goat cheese salad no onions. Service was good, ordered a water got a club soda which was a little flat and tasted weird (I'm normally okay with a club soda), our waiter took care of it. Decided to come here for lunch bad idea, the parking lot was extremely full with no where to park. I must've just missed the lunch rush instead because when I arrived inside it was no one in there. Once I got to the counter to place my order, the young lady who took my order appeared to be in a rush and very impatient. The Detroit Style Pizza supreme with no meat and a Caesar salad is what I decided to go with. Caesar salad 7/10 lettuce could've been fresher . Pizza I give a 5/10 the crust, sauce and veggies were good, however the pizza was not fully cooked. It was very doughy, I was pressed for time so I did not have to wait for them to recook it. Wife and daughter went to spin pizza in Olathe,KS I have never been. I ask them to get me a full chicken cobb salad,as it looked good. After paying almost 20.00 for it,adding croutons,cherry tomatoes,black olives and red onion.with red wine vinegrette. They must have ran out of chicken as I had maybe a 1/4 cup of chicken,no black olives. 4 cherry tomatoes halves. Let me start by saying that we do enjoy Spin. Because we do, we decided to try the Detroit style pizza. We also had meatballs and tomato basil soup. The meatballs were just okay. The soup was very much like red water. No salt, no flavor... you could barely taste any basil. The pizza, however, was the biggest disappointment. It was burned in places, very little flavor. Actually, quite boring. The worst part was that this 12" pizza had 6 (3"x3") pieces. And it was $30. It will be a long time before we go back after this most disappointment and expensive meal ($50). read more

I had a barbecue chicken pizza with jalapeno today and some tomato basil soup with flatbread and mint gelato... Oh my God guys! It's great. The barbecue chicken pizza with jalapeno is my go-to. I've tried a few other pizzas and honestly the best one they make is the barbecue chicken with jalapeno on it. It's such a good flavored smoky pizza. The dough they use is pretty middle of the road, not too crazy with fermentation, a little bit mechanically prepared if you know what I mean. The sauce is tangy and good, the chicken has a good bite, they put pineapple on it, and the jalapenos just make it nice and kicky. The tomato basil soup is wonderful, real thick and full, and we typically make our own homemade bread, make a grilled cheese at home with the bread and fancy cheeses, and then dip it in that soup and it really hits the spot. The flat bread is pretty bland and boring, I would almost recommend a thick focaccia as an alternative to this menu item because the flat bread just tastes really flat and bread like...lol. If it were fermented a few days, I would say the flat bread would have a mind of its own with a little airy texture and curious nature to it. But alas, it just seems like they throw that thing together for eight bucks. The mint gelato though, swear to God my new favorite ice cream. It's literally the best. It's so rich but light at the same time, I believe with gelato they put less air into the ice cream and it ends up becoming this very velvety succulent dish of wildly expensive ice cream I'll be honest, LOL. But, what a treat. This place is like the Sonoma valley, if the Sonoma valley was in a mall. Not bad, just not the French laundry. That's okay though, but the price, maybe take it easy for a couple days guys. Maybe take a break, let those prices find their sea legs because for what it is, can feel a little wobbly. The food is always TOP NOTCH at Spin! It'll keep me coming back again and again. The service, unfortunately, was not the best this time. I know it has been in the 90s this week, but the patio seating had been grossly neglected previously. I wiped my hand on the table prior to sitting, and I kid you not, it was BLACK. Eww. When I asked for it to be wiped down, I received a huff and a puff and as he came back with his cloth and spray, I figured he would spray the cloth and then wipe the table. But no. He quickly sprayed the table 3-5 times, which misted right up into our faces. I even tasted it. Ummmmmm..... yuck. We rarely saw our server, and on a 95 degree day, we needed some water. I did have to ask once or twice for that. But seriously, other than those elements of poor service, Spin is one of my favorite places for get togethers. I've never had a bad experience here. I love the gluten free and dairy free options for pizza. Absolutely love the salad selection. They have great topping options, and the dressing are delicious and unique (blood orange vinaigrette, etc). We prefer to dine in, as we like the pizza right out of the oven. We visit KC several times a year and our relatives always get this pizza. It is a waste of time. The crust is tasteless and is doughy and full of air it seems. Not crisp either. The tomato sauce is bland as is the tasteless sausage and cheese. Many frozen pizzas far exceed the culinary quality of this. After being served this crap 3 times I am going to a place we research and surprise them and bring it home. I am sure KC has good pizza somewhere. read more

We were 10 minutes early for our 5:30 pickup. They were fifteen minutes late. FPO and I saw a lot of people going in and out with take out so we figured they were probably just busy. But, we had to call the number on their board twice before they brought out the food. Pizza boxes were cold to the touch, like they'd been sitting for some time. So were the pizzas when we got them home. The salads were okay. I liked the Sonoma salad but the Chicken and Goat Cheese pizza was meh. Came here for lunch today & the restaurant seem nice & spacious. When you first walk-in they have a huge menu for you to look at. You then order, pay, grab a seat & they bring your food to you. I opted for the Superfood salmon salad & was debating between the half ($9.50) or full order ($13.50) which I thought I was deciding between a smaller or bigger piece of salmon. In the end it was the size of the plate. I was kind of disappointed because if I had known that I would've ordered the smaller one. On top of that my salmon piece looked like it was broken off. The salmon was cooked to my liking (it had a nice crisp to the outside) but there was a little too much dressing on it to the point I couldn't even finish my salad in the end. Last time that I went to spin pizza, I had to wait for my salad , and it was incorrectly done with the toppings. I waited an hour that day for my salad, on a slow day. A Tuesday with it being the only thing I ordered. Today, I just left spin at this location, ordering a salad again, modified the ingredients and waited 45 minutes for it to arrive; and when it arrived it was not correct again. In fact, I had to stop two bus boys to get it, since I visibly saw my salad waiting the entire 45 minutes on top of the expo station. From the time I ordered it, it only took 2 mins to make and I just had to sit in my booth and stare at it. Watching as several people ignored it. Then, I went to the gelato line. Not only did me and three other people wait for 15 minutes in that line while multiple workers stared at us and didn't do anything to come help. Then , they served everyone in the line in front of me. After it was my turn and I picked out what I wanted, and paid , when I was returned cash I said thank you, and I just got a dead cold stare from a guy who I overheard has worked there for years in this restaurant. As someone who has been a regular of spin for Over 4 years, I will now say I will never come back. It used to be that Neapolitan-style pizza was a rare find, at least here in KC. SPIN! came to prominence in the boom days of the style, alongside some other attempts that started up in Brookside, downtown, and around Cowtown Metro. Most of the others are gone, or struggle to hang on to the one location they are in. Meanwhile, SPIN! has expanded. And expanded some more. And then some more. There's a reason for that - they got the recipe just right. And I'm not referring to only the food - although literally everything I've had here is awesome. From the hip and casual ambiance to the solid service, family-friendly atmosphere, flexible menu (more on that in a moment), and reasonable price - it's all there. My favorite thing to order at SPIN! is the Mini Mia, which affords you a personal-sized pizza and pretty-darn-large salad. Why waste your time on salad at a pizza joint, you ask? Because these are, quite literally, THE. BEST. SALADS. EVER. I'm not kidding about that. Many times, I get a salad ONLY at SPIN!, because all of them are that stinkin' good. And that's coming from a meat-and-potatoes guy. My recommendation is to start with the Sonoma salad, and branch out from there. Due to the aforementioned family-friendliness, I've been to miscellaneous locations too many times to count, and have thus tried nearly the entire James Beard Award-influenced menu. I haven't encountered one thing I didn't like yet. On this, our latest visit, our family cuddled up into a booth and woofed down our pizzas, salads and house-made gelatos, as we always do. We did actually get something new - a flatbread and dipping sauce. They provide you a generous flatbread topped with olive oil, herbs and spices if you order a full salad, and the things are addictive. So, we decided to try a full flatbread with the sauce, and like all things here, it's a hit. I've never had a bad experience at Spin. My two favorites are the "Mini Mia" combo deal and the mondo meatball. The chicken and goat cheese pizza on cauliflower crust is seriously on-point. I like that they usually have a seasonal salad. Last time I got the new chicken cobb salad, it was FANTASTIC. The house made ranch was incredible. Stopped in here for lunch during my trip to visit my buddy in Kansas. We both ordered a small salad. I don't remember the name of it. It had goat cheese and candied pecans. Whatever it is called, it was top notch. Our pizza was a 12" with sausage and caramelized onions. It was really good. The crust was on the thin side, but I like that.
