my trip to Old Chicago Olathe had its ups and downs. The good was the beer. The brown lager I described in the video was very pleasant and an easy drinkable Brew. For my meal: The good were the tater tots! I got a decent amount and they were fresh and crispy. I ordered the beer burger medium and it was very close but a little bit on the medium well side on which was fine, but it was overcharred and had a burned flavor through part of it. I typically don't send food back in these types of establishments unless the food is cold, Inedible or missing key components. I've worked in these establishments in the past and sometimes you just know when not to send stuff back If you know what I mean. The bartender was very lackadaisical even though they weren't busy and really just took his sweet ol' time and never came back to ask how everything was or if I needed anything while I was eating. Right when I was about to leave he did ask if I wanted another beer, But that was a little too late. The price for this outing was less than $25 with tip so that's not bad. Decided to come to Old Chicago instead of one of our other favorite pizza places. Mostly because we hadn't been for awhile. Service was timely and friendly, even more so than our last visit. Located in a safe part of Olathe, by AMC Old Chicago is a LOT of things but it starts with a good time. Walking in one's eyes are immediately drawn to the HUGE line of taps with all sorts of beers. Of course, right in front of them are some of the nicest bartenders in town. Now, some might be thinking this is a drinking place only, nope its more, much more and the kids will love the huge menu as well. I especially encourage dropping by when your favorite sporting event is on as they have TVs everywhere. I'll admit I've been coming to this restaurant since 2005 or so, I can't remember because it's been so long. That said one of the main features, one that you'll notice in my picture is the beer tour. That's right, drink up to 4 different beers a day which applies to a tour and after 110 beers, you complete a tour and get a cool prize! Moreover, they have holiday mini-tours that last like a month and have interesting limited time brew like (not my favorite) pumpkin brews. Do 10 tours and you get the stein like I have in front of me which allows discounted beer everytime you come in. Please note I don't think it's possible to not like a majority of the beers they have so I think you'll be fine. As for the food, there's something for the kids all the way up to the grandparents. I really like both the Buffalo Chix rolls and pepperoni rolls. Soft and pillowy filled with the meat of your choosing and it's always a hit. I also recommend the Italian nachos as it's a fun spin on the old tried and true nachos. The wings are also great and I like all the flavors unless its hot, I can't do the heat. The spin dip is also a crowd pleaser while the Bavarian pretzel stix are darn good. It's hard to go wrong with any of these and if you need a salad - I recommend the Caesar as it's tasty. As for the main attractions the calzones are dynamite. I have my favorite that I customize with olives, ricotta, onion, sausage and mushrooms which I believe is the best! Regardless of what you chose it will be good. As for pizzas I order mine just like my calzone. It's basically the Chicago 7 without peppers. The dough isn't too soggy or burnt but always comes out just right. Overall, I've never had a bad pie from Old Chicago. As for desserts, I'll leave that to your imagination but I do enjoy a few of them. Overall, Old Chicago is great for the family, a date, friends or whatever excuse you need to get out the house and drop by. Tried eating here again, another disappointment. I got the lemon butter chicken.... It was NOT good. The chicken was so tiny! The lemon garlic butter was not particularly evident, and even when I asked for extra, the garlic wasn't really obvious. It also had red pepper flakes on it, which was a turn- off for me. I chose that dish because I really can't handle spice, so this was disappointing. The "salad" was supposed to have arugula, tomatoes, Parmesan, and onions. Mine came without onions, and if that cheese was Parmesan then I'm a mountain goat. That was likely Mozzerella, and not particularly good Mozzerella at that. Parmesan has a much more distinct flavor. The potatoes shocked me.... They were plain. Seriously. No salt. No pepper. Just roasted plain potatoes. Very disappointed in our experience. The waitress we had was not bad, a little slow getting drinks out when there was NOT a full restaurant. The guy that brought us our food said he would bring us some plates for the pizza then he took the order of the table behind us (we were in the 2nd booth from the door) & then checked on 4 other tables. He NEVER did bring us plates. He left trays on the tables behind us even after walking past them 5 times. When the waitress come back, she said "oh they didn't bring you any plates". several employees sitting at the table right by the door, behind us, were on their phones & making boxes when they could've helped. The chicken on my blackened chicken Caesar salad was dry & overkill on the dressing to compensate for the dryness of the chicken. It seems that this restaurant may be understaffed. The bartender is absent from what I think of as normal bar duties like taking care of customers at the bar. They spent a lot of time running food and bussing dirty dishes. The restrooms are not well kept, which does raise concerns about the cleanliness of other locations in the restaurant which are not customer facing. read more

On our recent visit, even my kids noted that this is the second time in a row we've been there where service was so bad that the server told us that an item would be comped off of our bill. Then the server came back and said nope, the manager wouldn't allow anything to be comped. My daughter ordered fries with her meal, and it didn't come until after everyone was done. Then they charged us for a full plate of fries instead of the cheaper add-on for kids meal. Our table was incredibly sticky, and the food was really bad. Tried this place tonight and, well, being from Chicago this place is an insult when it comes to pizza. Basically elevated Pizza Hut- Italian Sausage is pre-cooked- fresh vegetables are added too late in the cooking process so the veggies are not tender. Crust is too greasy for a pan pizza. Bavarian Pretzels were good- beer mustard cheese sauce was ok. Please remove Chicago from your name and it will be acceptable as pizza . Anyone who lives in the Chicago area or even had Chicago pizza knows what pizza is- this is not Chicago pizza- misleading. Rude Hostess Argument Over Seating Ruined Our Visit. Went to Old Chicago in Olathe on Dec 26 at 5:30pm with a party of 8. Place was nearly empty, but hostess sat us in a cramped medium booth. We asked waiter to move to a larger empty one, he agreed but hostess argued, insisted we go back, and said she "usually seats 8 there." She was rude and unprofessional despite empty large booths. We almost left but stayed due to time constraints. Waiter was nice and seemed embarrassed. Today my we went to lunch here and were seated promptly. The restaurant was clean and good temperature and sound level was good in the dining room. The bar seating area was louder so we opted for the dining room booths. Our server was very sweet and gave us good service and was timely in taking our order and the food came out quickly. I had the cauliflower crust pizza which was pretty good. My husband has the Jamaican jerk dry rub bone in wings and a side salad. I have such a love hate relationship with this place. When the pizza is made right it is very good. Five stars. However, that only happens about 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time the pizza is undercooked. For instance, this most recent time we ordered a large meat me on original crust and specifically asked for well done. When we got it home we found that the cheese was just barely melted and the dough was not even cooked through! We put it in the oven which fixed the cheese however the dough could not be helped. It remained gooey so we had to scrap off the toppings, take out the goo, and try to put it back together. It is very frustrating to order something and then to not have it made properly. I truly hope someone there reads this and has a chat with the kitchen to try and fix this issue. The place is split between a bar space with about 8 booths then the other side is like family dining. Service is always polite, friendly and pretty fast. Great for families due to the vast menu items. If you want beer there seems to be an ever turnover of new and regular beers. They even hav e a world beer tour if you are so inclined. They also have mini tours of several beers and the tour lasts 8-10 weeks. If you see a beer you might like ask for a sample taste. They really want you to have a great experience! Plenty of parking. We recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Their website states they close at midnight, so we arrived with a party of seven (2 adults and 5 kids) at 10:55 pm, thinking there would be plenty of time to serve us. Upon arrival, the host informed us that they were closing in 30 minutes. We thought that was odd but decided not to ask why since they didn't look very welcoming. He mentioned that most of the restaurant was closed but offered us a big table with high chairs or any open booth. We initially tried to sit at a small booth, but it didn't fit our group, so the host/waiter suggested we move to the large table and proceeded to get our drinks. Before our drinks arrived, a female employee, who seemed annoyed, approached us and said we couldn't sit at the bar. However, we were not even at the bar; the bar was next to us, and the large table we were seated at was not connected to or touching the bar area. This was the same table that the host/waiter initially offered to seat us at. She insisted that she couldn't legally serve us because we were "sitting at the bar," which we clearly were not, and then suggested seating us in the section that was closed earlier. When they kept changing things, I told her, "Okay, we can leave," and all she said was "Okay," gave us a side-eye glance, and walked away. It seemed like she got the outcome she wanted as they just wanted to close early. Given the unwelcoming attitude and the clear indication that they didn't really want to serve us, we decided not to dine there. This inconsistency and unwillingness to serve us despite being within operating hours were very frustrating. We hope the management addresses this issue to avoid such unpleasant experiences for other customers. My family visits this Old Chicago several times a year. This visit was good, as it usually is. Our server Grant was very attentive and checked in on us often. He made sure we had everything we needed and that our empty plates were taken and drinks refilled. The tables are always sticky here. I think that's just the way it goes. They didn't look dirty or anything. We ordered the pretzels for an appetizer. They are large and come with four pieces and cheese dipping sauce. Highly recommend them. I had the cheese pizza. It was good, pretty average. Two family members shared a Meat Me and also said it was good and average. The special for Monday was buy one large, get one half off, so I'd say they were worth it but not as tasty as they have been here in the past. Definitely appreciate the great customer service. I love this place so much! The food here is always on point and the service is amazing. Everytime my husband and I come in town from the city we go here. It's one of my favorite places to eat. I love that sports play on the tvs in the background as well. My husband is a huge sports buff so it's always badass. I love their tangy red sauce. A quick visit to grab a bite. This is unlike most of my visits to OC. Typically I am there with a bunch of friends and we spend a few hours eating and drinking! This was a quick stop in fairly late due to being hungry! I know... Crazy! This location is not one I go to that often anymore as I live closer to the one at 135th and Metcalf. But out here running round trying to find some specific items at Whole Foods and decided to swing on in. For those of you that have eaten here and/or are on the beer tour... you know why! So I was quickly seated as it was just me... I would have sat in the bar but there was no seating over there. My beer was delicious! The chicken pesto quesadilla "pictured" was not at all what I expected and quite pleasant! I would certainly order this again even if it wasn't on the WBT menu. First of all no crayons for kids menu. Super disappointed. Came in for free birthday pizza as well as free kids meal with purchase of an entree. Kids menu was very unclear (see picture and note). Essentially just annoyed because when I asked / showed manager, he told me it was "assumed" that pizza didn't come with a side. I guess I'm the 1% that didn't get it although I'm a pretty sharp person. He then walked away when I was trying to ask another question so essentially he wouldn't let me get the side of Mac and cheese included with pizza. Mac and cheese was okay- nothing special but glad it was better than Kraft. Pizza was great. Extra plate came with wet napkins but maybe it was because the plates were fresh out of dishwasher. Most times I have been here the Pizza was alright. But, I would not rate this place as the place to go if you want good Pizza. It is nice being next to the AMC 28 movie theatre so you can get a bite to eat before going to a movie and sit in a nice environment than eating something during a movie at the AMC. I love their Pepperoni Rolls here. I have never had those not be good. But, the Pizza here is more often than not, subpar. The service is also not the best here in the times I have gone. I once went with a friend who made changes to the Pizza and then the price he got was almost double what the menu said. The waiter did not tell him there would be so many up charges for the changes. If you are looking for a nice place to meet to socialized before a Movie this is a nice place, otherwise I would not go here. read more

If you get there for happy hour, they have an unbelievable deal. Great prices on their appetizers and drinks. They are an Untappd approved venue and keep a wide variety of craft draft beers as well as in bottles. I was good with just the single topping personal pie, jalpeno pretzel bites and fantastic Buffalo chicken rolls. The other crazy thing was that when leaving, I learned that my friendly bartender was also the son of one of my former colleagues. Small world. The music and atmosphere was also very pleasant. This place is family friendly and worth visiting. Came over here to grab a drink and snack after a movie at the AMC close by. We were greeted warmly by Taylor when we arrived- she ended up being our server too. She was so sweet- really upbeat and polite. We both really loved the roasted cauliflower appetizer. We chose to have it done with the Italian garlic spices (the other option was Buffalo) and it was delicious- had a nice kick of garlic and onions. Definitely want a mint afterwards haha! read more
