Frustrating pick up experience. We ordered online so we could grab and go. During the check out process, it offered curbside, so I chose that and filled out our car description. There were no instructions once the order was placed (or during the process of checking out). When we arrived we parked in the TO-GO spot and waited 10 minutes, assuming we were just a little early (which we were). Finally went inside and our food had just been sitting there for "who knows" how long. We ordered fried mushrooms app, The Longhorn burger with fries, and Mushroom Swiss burger with chili. With tip, which I gave a bigger tip for curbside, it came to just about $50. We had a short drive home. The mushrooms were getting soggy from their likely longer-than-necessary wait in the box, but they were still good. The burgers were very tasty. My fries were extremely soggy and floppy; very undercooked (not just soggy from steaming in the box). The chili was a nightmare. It smelled like canned spaghetti sauce and was so salty it was barely edible. I don't know if it even had chili powder or other seasoning in it. Next day I put the left over fries in the oven and got them crisped up and they were actually pretty good. Despite their tasty burgers and good portion size, I doubt we'd be willing to return. The flimsy styrofoam containers for takeout didn't hold up well, even though all we did was carry the bag to the car and into the house. read more

I had the chicken strip salad with a bowl of Chili Gumbo - so good! The chili gumbo was amazing! Our waitress, Abby, we excellent and very attentive and knowledgeable. Kayte was the manager on duty and she came by the table and said hi. Great atmosphere, staff and delicious food. Stopped in for the live music on the patio on 5/25. Sat at the outdoor wrap around bar on the patio. Three different female employees came out and not one came to ask if we wanted a drink or food menu. They looked at us but were more interested in picking up some little dirty dog WALKING along the ENTIRE outside bar. I went inside and ordered two four drinks and the bartender was very helpful and even opened the door for me. I saw him bringing drinks out for other customers. Meanwhile the three females did nothing. There weee three tables never cleaned the entire time we sat watching the live music. I posted the sign that we later saw hidden indicating check in for patio seating. Ok so we missed it, get over it and address the customer, there was only a handful of people outside. Showed up with a group of ten people at 10:50pm. As soon as we walked in the door someone from the kitchen yelled to the front that the kitchen was closed already. Great scratch kitchen! This is a lot quieter then the other locations. We grabbed a booth and enjoyed the kettle chips, mozzarella sticks, and wings. The kettle chips were awesome and pair nicely with their famous ranch dressing. The mozzarella sticks were hot and delicious. These aren't your average frozen bar kind that comes out exploded or luke warm. These are fresh cheese cooked to order! The wings were a hit too. Especially with their famous ranch. Our group of five was seated outside after the lunch rush. We sat at our table for 20 minutes without being greeted by a server although several servers made eye contact but never officially acknowledged our presence. When we went back inside to be re-seated, the server was actually one of the same servers that saw us sitting outside. When I told the server we had been sitting outside for 20 minutes without service, she pretended to not have known we were out there. Our family have been regulars at this establishment for the last 12 years and have never experienced such horrible service. I even asked to speak with a manager. However, a manager never materialized or spoke with us. Too bad there aren't many other restaurant options where we live. read more

Place was pretty busy they had every other table taped off. We order 3 different burgers and seasoned fried. All were good Longhorn, south philly, and I got the firehouse. TOP had me at "Sunday Funday Bloody Mary Bar"! We've been for a handful of game nights for some classic American grub, cold beers & massive TVs. The staff has been nothing but wonderful! Ah another Other Place... I don't believe that I have reviewed this one before... though I believe I have eaten here. Maybe not... I remember the location being home to Murphy's way back. But, that was the past and there is a place filled with deliciousness right here in front of me! This visit was with several friends after moving furniture from a nursing home... talk about depressing. So nothing better than a good hot meal and a drink to lighten the load! We had a chipper and attentive waitress that was great at stopping by to keep the drinks full and let us know status of cooking and the like. Mine was the Cajun Chicken Cobb Salad... and it was delicious! The right amount of dressing. Plenty of spice and a good mix of warmth and freshness! The other items ordered and all were well enjoyed by our table. The Mushroom Swiss burger, the Firehouse burger, Philly Cheese Steak, and the Cajun Chicken Pepper Jack Wrap. The drinks were a mix of beers, teas, and sodas. And the price point for all this delicious food was fantastic! I can hear you now... "But Rob... you only gave them 4 stars!" So let me explain where that last star went... Though we were seated quickly the restaurant was a bit of a mess... it was obviously that tables had just left and no one had the time to clean up. Our table was wiped down only after they decided to seat us there. Now this could be a scheduling issue or maybe someone didn't show, or just being super busy... either way... wet table and exhibited being disorganized. The other thing... and this isn't the restaurants fault... a college football game was on... and there was an extremely loud and rambunctious crowd rooting for both teams. Needless to say they were less than cognizant about the other diners around them. The bottom line is that I love The Other Place and they will not let you down... The Shawnee location is a hidden gem on the west side of the KC Metro. Large interior space with lots of TVs and suitable for all group sizes. The Other Place has some of the best bar food in the city. The menu is well-rounded and has many items you won't get at similar dining establishments. We came to watch the end of the US Open and had some nachos and wings but don't forget to try their pizza. It's amazing! The service was timely, and we will be back! read more

Stopped in today for lunch. A sign at the front advertised a special on Guinness so we ordered two. After some time, the waitress came back and said they could only draw one beer and that they were on special because they were trying to get rid of it. Nice, a bottom of the barrel old Guinness that was not good at all. I ordered a different beer that sat on the bar until we were half way through our lunch. When the waitress finally came by, I had to ask for it. The food was mediocre to poor. I can't remember having such a disappointing time at a restaurant. We will never go back. I liked the reasonable lunch prices, the unlimited pizza, soup/chili, salad lunch special, the clean and nice interior with classic rock background music (not too loud during lunch), the large oval bar, and the view of the kitchen. My lunch portion chicken taco lunch (reasonably priced at $7.25) was served in eight minutes, and was nicely sized, with plenty of chicken and fresh veggies on a bed of lettuce and crispy tortilla chips, and plenty of salsa with good heat. The service at the bar was attentive. Daily specials and a happy hour (M-F 3-6 pm) were available. This location also has a nice and spacious patio area, but no games inside or outside. Tonight we went here to watch both the KState and the KU game. We were a party of 6 with a 2 1/2 year old who was a little squirrelly. Also, I'm vegan and there's not much on the menu for us. I ordered a meal for pick up and specifically selected curbside as I am disabled and tipped accordingly as I am appreciative of this option. I pulled up at my designated time and used the application they provided to say I had arrived and that someone would come out to my car. 10 mins had passed and I thought "hey maybe they are busy" so I hobbled my way up to the front and went inside to see 3 people behind the host station and my food just chilling. The problem isn't the fact that I had to get my food, the problem is you used whatever application you use to take my order, take my money, and take my car description as well as phone number but could not notify me that no one is going to come help me. I have been here several times now. Really good burgers, steak n cheese and beer selection. Then they give you really old tots or fries. The pizza toppings are top notch but I can't think of a worsts crust I have had. It's like hardtack. Any frozen pizza you can buy has a better crust. read more

This would be an excellent place to watch a game and have some beers. Hands down probably the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. My wife had ordered a Cobb salad with fried chicken. One bite in and she spat it out. The chicken was barely cooked and still pink. Paid the tab, and didn't think to check the tab until we got to the car because we were in a hurry. Realized we got charged for food we did not order. I called up to the restaurant and explained the situation, but the manager refused to reverse the charge because he remembered bringing it to our table. We never got that food nor did we order it.
