Nick and Jake's continues to impress us. From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed. Whether seated in the bar or dining room a server acknowledges you right away. Even if they're stopping by to say "I'll be right with you" or to take a drink order. (That's good training) We like to try new menu items and so far have not been disappointed. Salads, sandwiches and entrees all have been tasty and satisfying. We also enjoy their specials. Burgers, steaks and seafood. My faves are in no specific order. Texas Club. French dip. Ruben. Salads. Maybe I came in on an off day. But everything we ordered was dry and lack of seasoning/flavor, except the Ribeye with Crab smothered. The crispy wonton skin that came with Thai Spicy Shrimp was stale. Tasted days old. Fried chicken on the salad was extremely dry and crouton was also stale. Half baby back rib was also very dry, but it did fell off the bone. And the coleslaw that came the rib was very bland. It needed some seasoning. It tasty like raw soggy cabbage. Although the food did not impressed us, service did! The restaurant was packed but Mason really took care of us. Constantly refilling our water and checked up on stuff. I decided to give this establishment another try. Got there shortly before happy hour & got their Blood orange margarita and lemoncello strawberry sangria for $6. Mason was a great server, attentive and efficient. After looking at the menu, decided to get the grandma's chicken with a side salad. Our salads came out shortly before our main course. Love the complex flavor of the sweet Tuscan dressing and the blue cheese crumbles, one of the best salads combinations I've ever had!. Grandma's chicken consisted of two pieces of juicy chicken covered in smoked Gouda sauce, side of fresh green beans and jalapeño cheddar grits. My sides were not as hot as I'd wish but had a really good flavor. The grits needed to have more jalapeño for it to be described as jalapeño cheddar grits. Went there for Mother's Day, made a reservation and got right in. They were busy but the staff was attentive and friendly. I offered the full slab of ribs and they were wonderful! So tender and the bbq sauce tasted great! I would definitely come back again. read more

We decided to try out this location and we are happy that they have a pretty good gluten-free menu since I have celiac. The hostess was nice and it took a few minutes for us to be seated. The restaurant is clean and the server was nice as well. The bar is louder so we prefer to sit in the dining room, which is casual and quieter. My husband had a red sangria, which was good and a good price for happy hour which is Monday through Friday from 3 to 6. We both had burgers and I had the gluten-free bun and we both had coleslaw. Our burgers were cooked correctly and they were tasty and generous on the beef. Their pricing is good and we will definitely go back. The alcoholic beverage did take a while to get and my husband had to ask about it, I think they were behind on other people's orders. Our food came out in a decent amount of time. read more

Had a pre-Christmas gathering with my husband & kids, my nephews. It was early day like 1pm. The server was great to chat with, took this nice photo. Only thing is when they brought out plates. Some of us were handed our plates but the rest set on a tray & all the employees fled the scene. So I looked for a minute but then just pretended I worked there and handed off the other plates. My daughter loves Nick & Jake's because they give kids a little plate of grapes & crackers. The sides are kinda small, especially the Asparagus but they are also priced at only $4 so order multiple if you're hungry. This is a good little go-to in the area. Staff are always pleasant, and separate seating options exist (in the lively bar or in a dining room; additional seating also outside). Service is quick, and many "to-go" orders are seen in the queue. Menu is varied, with a decent selection of sides, sandwiches, entrees, salads, drinks, etc. The loss of a star: salad orders came with "grilled chicken," which were clearly precooked-possibly-thawed-from-frozen-chicken-breast, warmed up and placed on top of the greens. The salad dressing really save the day. We will return! read more

Easy going place. Part sports bar, part casual dining. They have an outdoor space with a TV for those lovely summer days for brunch. If you get dessert the portions come in small or large. I get large and take half home. I'm a fan of the Chocolate cake while my spouse likes the Carrot cake. Can get busy at times but generally we're able to walk in. read more

In town for a softball tournament decided to try out Nick and Jake's What an amazing place food was great Our waitress Sheila was amazing. Great place to watch the game! Not a huge space but nice atmosphere and *plenty* of TVs if you're looking for that. We both liked the food. I really enjoyed the jalapeño cheddar grits. This place seems to put more effort into theirs than many places do. The chicken quesadilla is good as well. Nothing special about the chicken itself but the red onion marmalade has a nice flavor and I think the flavor of the salsa was my favorite part. Good drink specials/selection and friendly service, this may be our new go-to sports bar. read more

We just had lunch at Nick & Jake's. Sat on the bar side and our server was Aaron. Texas Club and Chicken tenders were ordered. The Club was very good and had a good amount of meat on the sandwich. Chicken tenders were fantastic. Whole beasts cut into pieces, not just chopped up pieces of chicken glued together with whatever, these were big pieces, golden fried and excellent honey mustard. Another good visit. As always the service is terrific at the bar. The food is well prepared and quite tasty. The only issue with this visit and a previous visit was that the bar did not have Wild Turkey 101 available. Next week begins the KC Chiefs football season with a preseason game and this is a traditional choice for every game. read more

Such a lovely evening here. The patio is perfect for a chilly autumn night- there are several heat lamps and the staff encouraged us to move tables and chairs around so we'd be super comfortable and feel the heat. Every single person working here that we came in contact with was super nice. We loved our salmon BLT's. The melted Swiss cheese on them was an extra delicious touch. Tip- get the chipotle mayo on the side because it's thick and rich. And be prepared to wait for a table because it was busy on a Thursday at 6:00. I wish they had a better waiting area. I had a great experience at Nick and Jake's. I was with a group of 5 and we were quickly seated (this was during regular lunch time on a weekday). Our server was very quick and gave great recommendations on what we're his favorites on the menu. My group shared an order of the Irish nachos. I can only describe these as mini loaded baked potatoes. These were extremely good and I will probably get them any time I go to Nick and Jake's. I got the poke tacos, which were a lunch special. I didn't love the 'taco shell' and would have preferred a regular tortilla but the poke part was very good. I also got a slice of cheesecake. Course 1: Steak soup, Course 2: 6oz grilled atlantic salmon, Course 3: Carrot cake - The soup was meaty and not salty at all. The salmon was cooked to perfection and of course, how can anything go wrong with carrot cake. Course 1: Caesar salad, Course 2: Pastrami sandwich, Course 3: Carrot cake - The salad was fresh and ample. The sandwich was cooked the way it should be and the bread was fresh. We come to Nick & Jakes at least 1x a week. Salads are good but the dressings are fantastic. They have several rotating soups and the crab bisque is great. The bar side is our favorite to sit. A good amount of TV's, cold beer and a few good appetizers. The service is almost always great and staff is friendly. This is the only place I will eat at in Western Shawnee/Lenexa area. Popped in for lunch on New Tears Eve and had a great time! We sat in the bar area so that we could watch the football games and the tv setup did not disappoint! As it got closer to the Chiefs game the bar was filled with fans and the atmosphere was was fun and inviting. I ordered the shrimp Caesar salad with a side of sweet potato fries. They were both tasty!! I would recommend asking for a side of their sweet chili aioli to dip your fries in! The salad was HUGE so I could not finish it, I would suggest splitting it between two people. I also ordered the small chocolate cake and I took one bite and couldn't stop. I will be thinking of that cake for weeks to come! Our bartender was super sweet and she consistently checked on us. So my wife and I are at this bar on Opening Day to watch the Royals. After eating and having a few drinks there is a sudden bar back change. Pleasantly surprised with this location! Nick and Jake's is basically a step up from traditional bar food. It's nothing fancy by any means, but it is good. Not great, but good. I don't feel like you come here to have a foodie experience. Our service is always pretty good. The shrimp Mac and cheese is actually really creamy and has nice flavor, with a good amount of shrimp. Crab cakes are really good, especially paired with the corn and sauce. Bruschetta is very sweet, but good. Great portions. The chicken tenders were soggy, but that's my only complaint. Everything else made up for it. Cocktails are great. Ambience of this location seems to be a bit more catered to families. They do have a separate bar area. read more

Food was great but we waited a long time. We've never had to wait that long before so just a bad night.

We had a great meal at this location. They have a nice dining room with bright lighting from their plentiful windows. Our server was very attentive, although that did taper off toward the end of the meal, but I know it got busier around that time too. I had the Redfish Etouffe, Mom had Salmon Gyro (both were specials). I liked the Etouffe (it was crawfish with the Blackened Redfish placed on top) and I liked the Redfish. I felt the two together kind of canceled one another out. So I ate them separately, that's fine. It comes with a piece of toast that was maybe the best piece of bread I've ever eaten. I can't even describe it and also can't stop thinking about it. It also came with rice that was fine and fried okra that was also fine, but definitely nothing special. The whole crawfish they placed on top for garnish was overcooked and inedible. Mom enjoyed her gyro; however it did seem a small portion size. It worked for her, but for some it would have seemed too small to be filling. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. We haven't been to a Nick and Jake's for several years and need to remember to keep them in our rotation. read more

Horrible customer service. Ordered chips and queso...pretty easy order. Stale chips, chef refused to make a new batch and bartender was rude, she told me they weren't stale..apparently she and chef ate off my plate. If you want chips and queso...stale chips for you! read more
