I thought this place was meant to be and I was so excited to try it. I absolutely love the customer service and the feel of the place. It's small and reminiscent of pizza places of my childhood. I can tell the Imos value family as there are family portraits and a barage of personal pictures when you walk in. There are also pictures of what I believe to be staff by the drink machine. I was greeted happily when I walked in and they apologized for my wait even though the pizza was done much sooner than anticipated when I ordered online. The provel cheese bites were the winner here. I have never heard of provel or St. Louis style pizza before so I don't have anything to compare the pizza to. The provel bites were so deliciously melty. My kids also throughly enjoyed them once I made it home with them. I'm surprised I didn't snarf them down in the car on the ride home. Unfortunately, the pizza was nothing to write home about. I really really wanted to love it. It seemed burnt to me and my hubby. I'm not sure if that's just the way it goes with thin crust or if I was super unlucky and got a mistakenly burnt pizza. If it was closer to me I would probably take my family here to try for a pizza night as the pizza did sit for about 45 minutes on the drive home before I was able to try it which is why I didn't take away more than one star. My youngest absolutely loved it.

Deeeeelicious! This was only my second or third time visiting Imo's. I'd go more often if it weren't so expensive to buy from pizza places! It is so good. Ordered online & went in to pick it up. I got extra cheese and a house salad. The pizza was perfectly done & had just the right amount of cheese on it. The salad with provel cheese on it is good with any dressing, but their creamy garlic Italian is sooooo good! What is it with pizza places having a fabulous signature dressing?!? The restaurant is kind of an older vibe. It reminds me of restaurants we went to when I was a kid. The service was good. They were nice but not too chatty. The pizza wasn't ready when I got there & I felt comfortable sitting there waiting. I'd honestly have bumped this up to a 5 star review if it was like $8 less. I'll still go back, just not as frequently as the cheaper (and also delicious) place nearby.

Amazing food. My favorite pizza place in Overland Park. Classic St. Louis style! Check it out!

It's been years since we've had IMO's pizza . This is one of the things we miss about St. Louis . My family was exited when we found out there was an IMO's near us in Overland Park. So this year we celebrated "314 Day" with a large pizza, toasted ravioli, and garlic cheese bread .

Leftovers - it's just as good cold

I grew up eating Imo's pizza in St. Louis but live in Texas. I'm in town with a bunch of Texanso for a softball tournament and I told them all about Imo's and that they had to try it. Some local KC folks chimed in and dogged on the quality. I assured them that these locals were mistaken. Imo's did not disappoint! The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Better than that, the food was outstanding and proved me right. All the Texans loved the food and the experience. We had pizza, toasted ravioli, chicken wings, house salad, and the manager even brought us some complimentary cinnimos (my first time for these - so amazingly delicious). The Square Meal Deal (large 2-topping square pizza and 16 toasted ravioli) is a good value. Everyone raved about their food. I'm gonna have to go back before I head back to Texas.

This time I went with my husband, he got his meal, and about 10 minutes later they told me they forgot to make mine. It took so long to for the server to return that I asked him to just put it in a to-go box since my husband had finished his meal. He proceeded to ask if we wanted dessert, but I didn't even eat dinner!! To round out the experience, the server threw the check on the table with his back to us and left before we could even comment about the experience. Here are the 3 strikes that solidified why we will never return: 1. They didn't even offer to comp my meal, 2. They blamed it on new kitchen staff - it is NEVER a good look to blame someone else, and 3. When I got my sandwich home and attempted to eat it, it looked like it had been soaked in a vat of olive oil - there was at least 1/4 cup of oil that dripped out of the package, soaked through the paper and the wrap, all of the vegetables were raw, and the garlic dressing was missing. They obviously threw it together just to get something out. The sandwich was completely and ridiculously inedible... and of course because I didn't realize it until we got home, we PAID for it. As I have said in other reviews, I normally only post about really good places, and if I leave a low review, it is to warn people about exceptionally bad experiences. This was so bad it was nearly comical. I highly encourage the ownership and the staff of Nico & Ana's to get some formal training in customer service, food prep, and common decency if you want your business to be successful. It takes a LOT to make me consider a bad review, and after this horrible experience, I didn't think twice because they failed to take ownership of the problems and they didn't even give us an opportunity to share our concerns. It didn't appear as if they cared at all.

However, what happened after our meal is extremely concerning. My husband ordered Frankie's Chicken (lightly breaded chicken breast topped with provolone, sautéed shrimp, and a white wine Dijon cream sauce, served with linguine). About an hour after we returned home (around 4:00 PM), he began experiencing severe nausea, severe diarrhea, and severe abdominal pain. His symptoms continued to worsen throughout the weekend. As of today, Sunday, March 1st at 4:38 PM, he was treated in the emergency room and diagnosed with colitis due to food poisoning. Ending up in the ER after dining at a restaurant is unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about food handling and preparation practices. This is a serious matter. For another family or an elderly person, this could have been deadly. Management needs to address this immediately.

Everything was good and everyone was happy, but for the price (about double most other Italian chains), nobody was really blown away... until dessert. Between the crème brûlée and tiramisu, the entire table agreed that was the standout part of the meal. They were slammed when we went and we had a few service changes because of the rush. Getting drinks and putting our order in took longer than usual, but once we had a consistent server, it was all good. Busy nights happen. They also did a solid job keeping everything clean even during the chaos, and the restaurant itself is really beautiful. I'll be back, but I'm probably coming back just for the crème brûlée. The food was good, it just felt pricey for not having anything that really stood out in portion or flavor for my whole family. I had multiple family members in my party who've eaten here a lot tell me it tastes noticeably different than it used to. They said they've mentioned it to management before and were told changes were made to cut costs, and honestly, it shows in quality unfortunately. They don't plan to come back because of that, but I'll happily return for dessert.

The Toscana chicken breast (bone-in) with sun-dried tomato sauce had that perfect "marry me" flavor -- rich and satisfying. For dessert, we had the Plate chocolate cake with raspberry and pistachios. It was a huge slice, with a rich chocolate flavor. So why not five stars? Despite having reservations, we were seated right by the kitchen where servers pick up food. Made more annoying because the restaurant had a lot of empty booths and tables in the main dining room. The upside was that the pizza ovens kept us warm, but it wasn't the most relaxing spot. There were also a couple billing issues: the tip was calculated on the post-tax total rather than pre-tax. Also our prix fixe dinners included dessert and we opted to upgrade to a different dessert from the menu. Oddly the up-charge was $6, even though the menu price difference was only $3. That said, Plate offers delicious, well-priced food (though the drinks are on the expensive side), and it's still a great choice for Italian food in Kansas City
