Not sure of why these great reviews are written. Although as I read on further, someone stated that the owner/cook was offering 2 $50 coupon for 5 star reviews. We ate there a few weeks ago and the food was barely edible. the place was almost empty (only one other table other than ours- we were 4 people) so there was plenty of time to put a bit of care into the food. The baked clams were mushy and barely cooked. Baked clams are supposed to be topped with bread mixed with oil so they broil. these were topped with wet bread and the cook did not even take the time to broil them. We ate wet breaded clams. I ordered linguini with white clam sauce. the dish came as a soup. the sauce came above the pasta. I asked the waiter for the cook (he is not a chef!) to cook it a bit as to reduce the sauce, he came back 10 seconds later with less sauce- he just dumped the sauce. It had no taste. The rest of the dishes were below average and were packed to go. All three packages exploded in the bag. Many reviews indicate the same. Queens has a lot of good restaurants, if you are going to go out and spend your money pick a better choice. I rarely write comments but this one deserves an honest opinion. read more

Really cute outdoor seating. Perfect in the summer. Nice service. Accommodating and friendly. Shared pizza trecolore (pizza with sauce, fresh mozzarella, arugula and prosciutto. Very good. Then shrimp parm. Just what u think and perfectly good with spaghetti on the side. Hubby had chicken piccolo sogno in a light brown sauce with mustard and rosemary. Yummy. We haven't been to Piccolo Sogno in a few years, not sure why, especially since they are so close to our home, but I have to tell you that we enjoyed our dinner just as much tonight as we did the first time we dined here. The restaurant has a towny feel, which makes you feel right at home. I had the Pollo alla Livornese. The Livornese sauce was nice and light with just the right amount of Cerignola olives and capers. My wife had the Vitello Saltimbocca, which was prepared with prosciutto and sage. Our daughter had the Pollo alla Zingara with sautéed artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and mushrooms. My wife and I both felt that the chicken and veal were moist and tender. Our son had the gnocchi with pesto topped with grilled shrimps. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and the shrimps were not over grilled. The pesto sauce was flavorful, but could have had a little less oil. I have to say our entrees arrived to the table at just the right temperature, and were prepared well. The service was congenial, and pleasant, and we did not feel rushed during our meal. Little intermezzos between each course definitely is important for an enjoyable meal. The entrees were just the right size, and I didn't feel like I was walking away as if I over ate. This was truly a great find. Thanks yelpers... Outdoor dining was truly an experience, but all positive. The outdoor dining is a patio, or an outdoor garden in the back which is small but really nice and aesthetically pleasing. ... Of all nights to try piccolo however, we chose the night in which there was a electrical blackout on the block. The staff was amazingly, and i do mean AMAZINGLY nice as well as calm and effective during the blackout. The chef went on cooking, candles were delivered to each table, and they turned a negative into a really memorable experience. The chef visited us multiple times to chat and make sure everything was ok, and it was! The food was great. I recommend the chicken francese, and the gf had the baked ziti which was tasty as well. As everyone mentioned, their Rustico pizza is really, really good. I had it last week and had this huge craving for it over the weekend so I ordered delivery. First, the pizza is really thin yet it didn't fall to pieces when you picked it up. I mean, it has all that sauce, sausages, mushrooms, and bacon on top but the dough held together. Secondly, it's just so tasty. All the saltiness from the meats along with the mushrooms gives it a nice mix of flavors. The sauce has that nice tangy flavor I love. As for other dishes, I tried their baked clams and it's a pass. When I got delivered, the crumbs were all mushy and there was no crisp factor. Also, the taste was just okay - nothing wowed me about this dish. Lastly, the last time, I ordered the penne with pancetta, onions in vodka sauce. It was pretty good but a bit on the oily side. Just needed to ease up on the oiliness and it would have been a 5 out of 5 but I'd give it a 4. A nice place to get delivery from. They're prompt, professional, and follow directions to the T. I'm curious to visit their actual restaurant and will make plans to go. This was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. It started out fine, with seating and an appetizer but we waited forever for our food. We waited about an hour and a half for our main courses. When the food finally arrived it was mediocre and one-dimensional. I had the rigatoni alla norma and all it was was oily pasta with tiny pieces of burnt eggplant. There were supposed to be tomatoes and ricotta but there were none on the plate. It was quite bland and disappointing. For the amount of time we waited I was expecting something spectacular and worthwhile. It was pedestrian to say the least and pricey for no reason. The bread they served was stale as heck and the servers never refilled our waters or offered any type of acknowledgement of the failure on their part as a restaurant. By the end of the meal I just wanted to get the hell out of there. The whole time we were waiting for our food, none of the servers apologized or acknowledged that we had been waiting forever. It was almost like they we imprisoning us with this promise of food to be had. The thing that really upset me was that they were churning out delivery orders and pick-up orders. They seem to have their priorities all wrong because they ignored the seated customers for all the call-in orders and take-out. They must have passed our table five times with orders to be delivered with no update on our order. I will never, ever step foot back at this place. It was the most distressing meal I've ever had. I am honored to be the first to speak to you about this hidden treasure. Piccolo Sogno is what you have been looking for. It is at the end of a row of stores, if you blink while driving by it you will miss it. You walk into what looks to be a tiny Pizza Parlor, with a very nice seating area. Do not be fooled. If you walk towards the kitchen make a right then a left down a hallway you enter what I can only call a wonderful dining experience. It is an outdoor garden area with seating and a bar. There are about 8 tables here. The entire areas is covered by a large awning. There are large trees here offering you shade. The servers are nothing but friendly. It has a very family like feeling. The food. Maurizio (The Chef) is skilled at his craft. I have yet to have something here that has not been the best. The fried calamari is perfect. Never chewy, and the batter is so light. I found myself eating it like a I was a starving man it was so good. Try the Grilled Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana, fantastic. The lemon sorbet for desert. Personal Pizzas. I dont know how the italian food is here but i stopped in for a slice while my boyfriend was getting his haircut. The pizza tasted off to me but i thought nothing of it. Cut to a few hours later when i am getting ready for a night out i am almost done when i get this extreme pain in my stomach that i am now on the floor yelling out in pain unable to move. I was very disappointed. My friends had raved about this restaurant but it took over an hour just to have our order taken and another hour til we got our food. When someone in our party went to speak to a manager he was was very rude to her. No apologies were given just excuses. The food was average and some of the food was cold. This is an updated review. Very impressed with the customer service at this location!! I left a review and the owner Mauricio took time to explain his process and ingredients. I was disappointed with the alfredo sauce. It was not at all what I expected. It is a MUCH lighter sauce then what I am used to. The cheesecake is also much lighter in consistency and not as rich as what I am used to. If you are looking for authentic Italian food this is likely the place for you. I got a slice of grandma pie, a slice of sicilian, and a slice of white pizza. The bottom of slices had no crisp, whereas the crust was hard like a brick. The cheese was also like greasy rubber. I've never been so disrespected by owners of a restaurant before. My table of 3 came in the same time as a large table and everybody from the bus boys to cooks could not care less about my table. Food that is usually good was inedible and 1 appetizer and 2 entrees were sent back. On the way out a lady asked how it was. When I mentioned how disappointed I was she listened but then my elderly mother said "and the soup was cold" and this lady lost her mind! I mean screaming at the top of her lungs that she is the owner and her husband cooked the food and how dare we say anything about it! What?!?! I'm a waitress, I understand a table can accidentally be neglected in that scenario, I would've continued to at least get pizza here if not sit down meals. If someone cares so little about their patrons then I will never ever support their business. GO TO PIZZA GARDEN! Down the block and you won't be forgotten or treated like garbage. Went to dinner with my son, daugter and son's fiance. Was very disappointed..I ordered a very simple dish ...Chicken Franchese..It looked like scrambled eggs on top of the chicken... The lemon sauce was thin and weak in flavor...Its pretty difficult to mess this dish up but Chef Maurizio managed to do so. I don't recall what my kids ordered but I do recall they were not pleased..except for the seafood appetizers, they said they were good...Will not be going back The exterior of the building has no curb appeal. Great rustico style pizza. The sauce and the cheese to die for! We usually go here and order a pie when we have special training sessions at Champion's TKD in Bayside. My daughter isn't big on pizza, but loves their pizza! We usually order it half Hawaiian and the other half with either sausage or pepperoni. Came to this tiny neighborhood Italian restaurant with my aunt and uncle on a steamy Friday night. It' has a small pizza place upfront and an almost as small restaurant in the back. Apparently they have outside seating as well, but I didn't notice it. I and my aunt shared the baked clams. They weren't bad, but nothing outrageous. Although it was about 100 degrees outside I ordered the heavy lasagna. It was actually delicious. It was very unique. It's made with ham and fontina cheese with green peas in a bechamel sauce. Very different from what I am used to, but worth ordering. My aunt and uncle raved about their meatballs so I figured why not order a side of them for the table. Not that impressed. Very average. So these are really strange times we are living in but it's always nice to have a great meal. Frankly, that's what I always experience at Piccolo Sognio. Maurizio, the executive chef and owner along with his wife, have a nice outside dining area in the backyard with appropriately spaced tables and very good shade and a large ventelating/cooling fan. We had dinner for a party of 4 and each of us enjoyed their meals. I had grilled pork chops that were perfectly cooked to doness and they were moist and tasty. Another of our party had Ossobuco that was fall off the bone delicious. My grilled chops were accompanied by pan roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe. They have 3 seatings at the outside area of the restaurant: outside 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. It works out pretty well but obviously the 5:00 p.m. and the 7:00 p.m. will be the most sought after slots. My estimate is that they can accommodate about 25 guests per seating. Been going to Piccolo Sogno for at least 10 years and I like the food and the staff. It's restaurant it's been our go to place for Saturday night take out during the lockdown and now that we can visit the restaurant we're happy. read more

3.5 stars I had the salmon carpaccio salad which was quite good. Lemon cherry tomatoes and arugula. I wish it head a little more arugula. Fish was really nice and fresh. I live in Flushing where Chinese and Korean dominate the area so you can guess Chinese and Korean restaurants are everywhere. I have been craving for some authentic Italian food that is close to where I live (8-minute drive), I don't like going all the way to Little Italy in lower Manhattan. I first came here for my brother-in-law's birthday. From the outside, you really wouldn't pay too much attention to it because it's very small, the seating inside the restaurant is quite tight too. But they have a very nice backyard where you can eat by request. The ambience outside is very relaxing so try to dine outside! Now let's talk about the food! Food are very fresh, you know they're made from scratch! I have tried calamari from different restaurants and I would say this restaurant has the best! For entree I ordered the Fettuccine Piccolo Sogno, and didn't regret it! It has shrimps, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and asparagus in a champagne mascarpone sauce! I loved the food so much that I went back there after 3 days after suggesting to my friends that we eat there to celebrate one of our friend's birthday! It's truly a hidden gem! read more

You know when you are starved and are dreaming of a solid meal? Lately I have been thinking about the Piccolo Sogno chicken parmesan with a side order of angel hair. Never disappoints. The chicken is light and the sauce is homey. Cheese melted just right. I have also had the baked ziti which is very good. Salads with shaved parmesan are fresh and delicious. Service is excellent and the prices can't be beat. Pass on the desert and head over to the Oasis Cafe at 196-30 Northern Blvd. for a napoleon instead. Enjoy! read more
