Requested that it be baked well done but not burnt, Delivered : Still hot (on a cold night) within the est, time frame, by an affable delivery guy. Consumed: The crust was cooked exactly as we like and had the perfect combination of crunch/chew. The cheese,sauce,toppings were worthy of this perfect crust. The fresh garlic had a catnip effect. I think I actually hissed at my wife as she came up from behind as I was possessively hovering over the pie! Summary: This was a world class pie! Tried this lovely little place last week. The staff is excellent and it's a nice clean place. The menu is varied and prices are affordable. For the most part the food was excellent. Salads and cold antipasto were fresh and delicious. Pasta dishes, meal marsala and seafood all prepared well. Only disappointment was the chicken cacciatore which had a watery sauce and dry bland chicken. The desserts are scrumptious but not homemade. But overall I can recommend it. But it is small and they don't take reservations for parties of 2 or 4 so you have to go early to avoid a long wait. read more

A truly exceptional dining experience, and I will be the first to admit - I am very difficult to please. Great food. Friendly, caring, attentive staff - always checking to make sure you are enjoying your experience and how they can make it better. The specials are sooooo good. The regular menu also great. Wine list is simple but elegant and completely compliments the menu. This restaurant is so amazing, and if you try you will keep coming back to try everything on the menu - the traditional favorites and those incredible specialties. I have so many favorites - pollo alla monia (everyone's favorite) the branzino - shrimp scampi - anything with pesto! and the ribeye! Not something you would usually try at an Italian restaurant but you must try! And if you want to have a celebration - the patio is fantastic. The entrance can be deceiving? but we wanted to sit outside and they have a really large backyard that is totally covered under a tent and lots of fans so they kept it kind of cool in a very hot day. The service was a 10. The bread and food was delish! They were super accommodating and made some minor dinner request changes. The people were super nice! Also, they give you little bites of pizza in the bread basketthey were so yummy! We all enjoyed our food and we felt the prices are very reasonable. We are planning on going back! read more

I've been ordering here for many years now, the same pasta dish, fettuccine piccolo Sogno, every time because it was that good. However, recently I ordered it again and it was just terrible, instead of a creamy champagne sauce, it was very watery and bland. The 6 tiny pieces of shrimp was also tough and over cooked. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I called to ask if the original chef was out and to kindly let them know that the pasta dish was not the one I've been accustomed to. It was not worth the $18 at all. I really felt like the quality has gone down, perhaps it was this one time or perhaps forever. Regardless, the way they handled my phone call made me decide that I will never order from them again. There was 7 of us out for dinner, I just do not get these positive reviews. Not one person Was happy with there meal. The baked clams tasted like they were border line going bad not fresh. The chicken Francese was nothing more then a chicken breast cooked in egg and lemon water on top. The veal saltimbocca Tasted odd with there own spin on it and the veal was so thin you could practically see through it. I could go on with the other dishes, how bad they were, but I would be writing a novel. The desserts by the servers own admission were store bought and heated in the microwave. Came in, they didn't have anymore of their delicious chicken rolls and instead of having me leave empty handed they offered to make one, mind you they were closing soon. I wish I had found Piccolo Sogno way before I actually did! It is the cutest place! Small but worth it Having dinner outside in their backyard/patio area made it seem like we were no longer in Auburndale, Queens. (Be sure to spritz some off spray before you decide to sit out back in the summer though) Slowly but surely it has become one of my favorites in the area. The pizza is delicious, and the pastas I've had so far have been good as well. I did feel as if the service was a bit slower than I'm used to, and no one seemed to be in a rush with giving us the check, or picking it up from the table. Funny, this spot has not really ever come up when I've done searches on yelp for pizza. Anyway I searched for parm sandwich and boom it appears. Its only a few minutes from where I live too. I ordered a chicken parm and a side salad w/blue cheese dressing. The spot is cute with what looks like a seating with about 10 tables to dine in. I have not tried their pizza yet but plan to. The salad for me was good. Although they mixed the dressing in already. So if I had gotten a vinaigrette and ate the salad much later it would of probably ruined it. Usually places will put the dressing in one of those 2oz containers so I can dress it when I need it. Guess I may be a little too critical there. The chicken parm was ok. Their sauce could be better and I feel it needed more cheese. Also they did not cut the huge hero in half for some reason. Came here with a friend to celebrate my birthday and I was not disappointed. I had a dish with grilled chicken, broccoli rabe & mozzarella (I cant remember its name on the menu) It was quite delicious! It was seasoned to perfection & the chicken was moist & tender! The portion was so generous that we had to split a dessert, which was also great. The service was amazing as well. The staff was presentable, friendly & accommodating. I have no pics. I was starving so we just scarfed it down. But I was so happy I finally gave this place a go. I didn't think they'd deliver to me so I never ordered, but ai was happy to know they do. I usually order or go to another Italian restaurant closer, but it is expensive and, more importantly, for some reason their oil at this other place makes me feel ill. My son wanted pasta and I was driving home too tired to cook. Food was hot and steaming when it arrived about an hour later. I tipped the driver well in hopes of keeping them coming back to Bayside. The person taking the order was on point, helpful and professional. He suggested a chicken dish " pollo a la monia". The eggplant and penne Vodka aldente was all superb. The sauces were delicious. It wasn't even as expensive as I thought. I order Chinese food and spend more. This is my new favorite place. I have to order the pizza I've heard. So that'll be next. Can't wait! I took a trip into Flushing, Queens for my friend to get an estimate for some bodywork on his car, with that done, we had empty stomachs in the middle of the afternoon, so with a phone call and a recommendation we ended up at Piccolo Sogno. I don't know Carmine, but if I meet him I'm going to thank him for suggesting this place. As soon as we walked in I saw the pizza at the counter and knew lunch would be good. We wanted to sit down to eat. We were directed to a table and handed menus. We ordered a bottle of wine, my friend went with the Linguine in clam sauce, and I ordered off the lunch menu. A chicken dish who's name I forget, but it consisted of red sauce, some pesto, mozzarella and roasted potatoes. While we were waiting for our dishes, the chef came out of the kitchen. As he walked by the table he said hello and let us know our food was on the way. Is there better service than that? The food did arrive shortly after, and it looked as good as the pizza I saw in the front. Then we ate. Everything was perfect. I just wish I lived closer. I want to try the pizza and some more entrees. If lunch was this good, dinner must be great. read more

A truly a hidden gem in Bayside! I passed by this very small Italian restaurant many times, and never even knew. Who would've thought this small place could be so heavenly? :) Yes, from the exterior look of it, this restaurant does look like a small pizzeria....but don't judge a book by its cover! Thanks to my neighbor friends and fellow yelpers for helping me discover this truly homey and authentic Italian place. Inside was still a bit small but we found it very cozy especially in a freezing weather like the one we had today. First, the fried calamari for the appetizer, as always. :) Wow. just wow! Other dishes I strongly recommend are their signature Piccolo Sogno Fettuccine and the spinach salad. Very special. I don't know what the chef does to the creamy sauce, but hey, it was the tastiest fettuccine I've tasted in a long time. Two very thumbs up! An aroma of garlic and cream, shrimp, mushroom,asparagus, sun dried tomato and plenty of vegetables he put in all blend in so nicely, and the texture of the fettuccine, oh just perfect! Kids had baked ziti, and my hubby tried the chicken Marsala. All so scrumptious, and no complaints! What I loved about their food is that they weren't salty at all. Some of the local Italian restaurants I've been to, I must say, are pretty salty, but not Piccolo Sogno! Chef Maurizio came out and personally talked to us, and he himself said it has to be his food first that had to be represented, not the seasoning. :) I could tell this guy has a pride in what he does! His food is authentic, original and comforting. A REAL Italian food he calls it. :) His wife also works there and they are both so sweet. All the wait staff there are very friendly and attentive. I gave them 4 stars just because it was a bit smaller in size, so you could pretty much hear everyone sitting next to you, talking, burping and you name it. LOL! Chef Maurizio mentioned they do have outdoor dining space that they open during Spring and Summer that holds up to about 50 people. Looking forward to dining out there when the weather gets warmer. Piccolo is one of the better inexpensive traditional Italian places in Queens. With good service and food for decent prices. My favorite dishes are: Black Squid Linguine - always cooked to a nice al dente and served with fresh seafood. Great dish Margarita Pizza - tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. One of the better Margarita pizza's I've had in Queens. It's also a great portion for under $9. If your fancying some good ol' Italian pasta and pizza and live in the Flushing area. I hate to give three stars but this place is truly a three star restaurant. First off, food is average to slightly above average. It's not something I would come back for. Pasta sauce is mostly watery except for penne vodka. We also ordered a chicken dish and I hate to say that the meat is quite bland and dry. Fish is good- with flavorful sauce. Service is merely attentive though friendly and what ticked me off really, was the extremely slow service. Had a fantastic lunch today. They have nice lunch specials as well as full menu. Started with pasta fagioli (special of the day), main course of gnocchi with mushrooms and tomatoes in a butter sage sauce (from lunch specials) and ended with a tartufo and cappuccino. My friend had baked clams and veal parm from regular menu. Food was excellent and portions were plentiful. We ate outside on enclosed patio. It was heated and very comfortable. Service was wonderful and Aldo was great! Piccolo Songo is a local restaurant that consistently has great food and service. My mom asked me to take her and the fam to an "American Restaurant" because she doesn't speak English so she rarely eats anything Western. So I took her to Piccolo Sogno 5 minutes drive away. Italian... as long as its not Chinese food its close enough. When we entered it looked like an average pizza takeout shop, but going in farther reveals a much more romantic and intimately lit setting. As pictured on the restaurant yelp icon, the outside patio is huge. I originally asked to sit inside but the chef/owner insisted we check out what he has "out" store (get it? ho ho). And boy, I was sold instantly. They had a lot of heat lights that made it very comfortable. For the bread plate, they serve you a few pieces of pizza bread. I commanded myself to only eat half a piece so I can stomach the main course. The big downside of this visit is they ran out of steak and veal. That's practically half of the carne menu. We settled for lamb and porkchop instead. We had a lot of food and it's generally passable. I recommend the lobster ravioli and the shrimp/mushroom pasta, which was extra creamy. Lamb was too salty and the porkchop was overwhelmed by sauce. The chicken in the caesar salad was also charred but not intolerable. The chocolate gelato with hazelnuts and cream was as good as it sounded. The 4 stars rating was earned mostly by their service and ambience. I liked how the place, despite being in a Korean dominated area of Flushing, was patronized by many Italian families. One old man was apparently so happy with his meal he bursted into a song, and was answered with applause. The owner/chef was friendly and cared for your experience in his joint. It might not be a top choice if you want to go on a food hunt. But if you want a good solid dining experience with reasonable price, I will definitely recommend this neighborhood gem. read more

In my quest for local good eats, I took the advice of my fellow Yelpers about this place. Unfortunately the service we experienced ruined the whole meal. While the waiter apologized as it was apparently his first night of employment there; someone at the establishment should have made sure he was doing his job... the place isn't that big that he could wander around unsupervised. Our appetizers of salad and fried calamari took 45 minutes to come out. The table behind who were sat long after us had their appetizers out first. The under cooked calamari was the same variety you would find in a local diner or bar, and the salad was a salad. Our entrees came out seconds after the waiter took away the starters. I had the mushroom ravioli served with chunks of salmon. Based on my 8 years of food service experience, I would guess my entree had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. The ravioli pillows were so dried out and hard, that I couldn't cut them with the side of my fork. I ate the salmon around the ravioli wondering when the waiter would come around to ask how our food was. It didn't happen. I had consumed most of the edible portion of my entree, and by that point I was absolutely disgusted with the place and couldn't wait to leave. I finally called the waiter over and asked for our check. When he finally asked about our entrees, I demonstrated to him how impervious the ravioli had become to utensils. He apologized but did nothing other than bring us the check. So the place had potential, others have had good experiences there, but my meal and Friday night was ruined. If the chef or manager really cared about the food or the customers, they would have noticed an entree sitting around under the heat lamp until it was inedible. If you decide to check it out I hope you have better luck. read more

My sister, her husband and their adorable four month old boy Noah live in Bayside and we ventured the short way to Flushing for five courses and a bottle of wine of delicious food from the heart for around $125 dollars. Two years ago, this happy couple spent the summer in Italy and return to this restaurant as they say it feels authentic and brings them back to the pizza they ate in Sorrento. The pizza is delicious (the rustico!!) and so is the signature pasta dish.At extremely reasonable prices you should definitely try this restaurant. I was here last night for a graduation party. Let me tell you, major props to Piccolo Sogno for dealing with a party of 30+ hungry people on a rainy and late Saturday evening. I would go in saying DO NOT judge a book by its cover. At first glance, it looks like your run-of-the mill Italian joint in Queens -nothing special. Walking in, a friendly hostess directed us to walk straight to the back, My first thought was "Is our party really happening in the kitchen?" The waitstaff must have noticed the look of confused disgust on my face because they happily directed me to the beauty that is their patio. It's an adorable, christmas-light lit venue that immediately made me think of the "Kiss the Girl" scene from the Little Mermaid (water included, thanks to the rain!) Now, let's talk about what really matters when it comes to a restaurant-the food.Their eggplant rollatini was bomb. Seriously, it was filled with rich and delicious ricotta- I could not get enough. Their penne a la vodka was addicting. My table even had to ask for more bread so that we could soak up the extra sauce. Everything else was pretty good, too. My only issue was that they took too long to bring out the food in between each course. However, part of this is because I couldn't wait to see what was next on the menu! As stated earlier, I would really love to commend the staff at Piccolo Sogno. Our party started at 8pm and finished at 12am. Went to eat here with my parents. What a pleasant surprise! Prices were reasonable. Staff was attentive. When they ask if you want bread say yes. They make little bite sized morsels that are crispy and soft. My dad had eggplant parm which he enjoyed. My mother had a salad with oranges and goat cheese. I had a bite. Flavorful and delicious. I had pollo alla guilia (I definitely spelled it wrong). Floured chicken lightly sautéed in a light tomato sauce. It also had spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. I had just came back from Florence Italy and every restaurant we went to, the food was outstanding. This is the second time we've tried to eat at this place and both times we have had to leave because the people who seat you and the people who serve seem to have no communication despite working in a tight space. Front of house tells us 10 minutes, while the servers take 30 minutes to clear off plates then take another 10 minutes to drag their feet back and forth to bring dessert menus to the tables they were supposed to have cleared out 30 minutes ago. The service is painfully slow, communication lacking. Who knows how their food is? Don't go here if you want to be seated in any sort of reasonable timeframe or served. We sat there and watched families mid meal who were still there 50 minutes later when we decided the 15 minute wait they had promised for our table was inaccurate and we should leave. read more

We haven't been to Piccolo Sogno in a few years, not sure why, especially since they are so close to our home, but I have to tell you that we enjoyed our dinner just as much tonight as we did the first time we dined here. The restaurant has a towny feel, which makes you feel right at home. I had the Pollo alla Livornese. The Livornese sauce was nice and light with just the right amount of Cerignola olives and capers. My wife had the Vitello Saltimbocca, which was prepared with prosciutto and sage. Our daughter had the Pollo alla Zingara with sautéed artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and mushrooms. My wife and I both felt that the chicken and veal were moist and tender. Our son had the gnocchi with pesto topped with grilled shrimps. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and the shrimps were not over grilled. The pesto sauce was flavorful, but could have had a little less oil. I have to say our entrees arrived to the table at just the right temperature, and were prepared well. The service was congenial, and pleasant, and we did not feel rushed during our meal. Little intermezzos between each course definitely is important for an enjoyable meal. The entrees were just the right size, and I didn't feel like I was walking away as if I over ate. This was truly a great find. Thanks yelpers... Outdoor dining was truly an experience, but all positive. The outdoor dining is a patio, or an outdoor garden in the back which is small but really nice and aesthetically pleasing. ... Of all nights to try piccolo however, we chose the night in which there was a electrical blackout on the block. The staff was amazingly, and i do mean AMAZINGLY nice as well as calm and effective during the blackout. The chef went on cooking, candles were delivered to each table, and they turned a negative into a really memorable experience. The chef visited us multiple times to chat and make sure everything was ok, and it was! The food was great. I recommend the chicken francese, and the gf had the baked ziti which was tasty as well.
