We had never dined here even though we've known it's been there for decades. We went this past Wednesday for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised by the cozy, warm ambience, the very friendly staff and the wonderful food. Mekayla, who had recently started working there, was our waitress, and she is delightfully bubbly and energetic, making our entire experience there that much more fun. We started with drinks (good wine and mixed drinks), then the warm goat cheese and beet salad, drizzled with a sweet balsamic dressing - wonderful! For main entrees, we had the chicken paillard (very tender grilled chicken over a bed of risotto) ), chicken scarpariello (with medallions of chicken and sausage, potatoes, peppers in a delicious garlic sauce), and pollo e penne (grilled chicken with broccoli rabe in roasted garlic sauce). All three were excellent, and paved the way for a very tasty tiramisu (with lady fingers along the rim as well as soaked with espresso) and Cloud Nine coffee (coffee with Bailey's, Amaretto & whipped cream - a delight!) We are only sorry that we waited so long to eat there! We're definitely returning to try more items on the menu! Celiac here. The food is amazing, and just about anything on the menu can be made gluten-free. As a celiac, to be able to sit down and order from appetizer to main course, to dessert, and not worry about what I'm eating is amazing. Last minute dinner with 12 people and they were able to accommodate. Food was fresh and tasty. Waitress was very friendly. Busy restaurant but you could still have a conversation without yelling. We were staying at a hotel in Bayside for Thanksgiving weekend and some family members made a reservation at this restaurant for dinner on Friday night. The restauarnt is on Bell Boulevard with many other restaurants nearby. We arrived at 6 o'clock and were quickly seated at a big round table. The menu has plenty of appetizers, soups, salads, pasta and chicken and seafood dishes. Our party ordered a Ceasar salad, regular salad and baked clams. The Ceasar and regular salads were very good. The clams were tasty but small. For entrees we had the shrimp francese, Pollo Tuscany, shrimp scampi, penne alla vodka, and chicken parmasen. The chicken breast pieces on the Pollo Tuscany were the best I ever had because they were so soft and tasty. Everyone else also enjoyed their dishes. We were too full for dessert but maybe next time. I'm really sad that I am writing this because the food looked great and I was so excited to try this place. To begin, the restaurant was FREEZING. Every person sitting down was wearing their coat and scarf. Meanwhile what seemed like the owner was walking around as if it wasn't which confused me quite a bit. We ordered the fried calamari and it was so rubbery. I ordered the chicken francaise and one piece was burnt (they flipped it over to try to conceal it) and the other was raw. My husband got the lamb and it was so thin it seemed like they cut the chops in half. I actually really enjoyed the mashed potatoes and char on the lamb so that's why I am giving 2 stars. Overall we will not be coming back because the prices do not match the quality. I came here as part of holiday gathering on a really cold evening, so we almost had the whole place to ourselves. I really like the holiday decorations upon entering - many poinsettias and holiday lights lining up the walls welcome you in the warmth. There was a person in our group who eats gluten free food and I thought it was thoughtful that the staff places stickers to mark off gluten free dishes. We had the gluten free calamari and baked clams. I am used to larger clams but it was tasty seasoned with breadcrumbs. For my entree, I had the Gamberetti e scaloppe provencal (shrimps and scallops with tomatoes, onions, and eggplant in a pink cream sauce over angel hair pasta). If you like tomato based sauce, pasta, and seafood, you would like this dish. It tasted tart and appetizing. My family and I have been ordering takeout from this place for the last 2 years. We do plan to have a sit down dining experience in the near future for sure. Papazzzio serves up delicious Italian fare like nobody's business. We have catered trays of chicken parmesan, chicken francaise and marsala, linguini and white clam sauce, pastas, stuffed mushrooms with vegetables and sausage. We have never gotten a bad meal here and I've eaten my fair share of great Italian food growing up in the Italian area of Corona Queens. This place is as authentic as it comes. My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant for restaurant week. The ambiance was very romantic, dim light with Valentine's Day decor. We first started out with some drinks, red sangria and mango margarita which was very good with a decent amount of alcohol. The bread brought was cold but the dipping sauce was unique. Server said it was made of chickpeas and olive oil. Our serve was AMAZING, very charming and attentive. The shrimp and scallop dish was delicious, just wish it had a little more seasoning but with pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese it was perfect. Overpriced , overwaited, and overhyped. Ordered pick up in advance for two simple pasta dishes, the person on the phone said 15-20 mins. I go in after 15 mins after calling then have to wait inside for another 35 mins. When I got the food for pick up not dine in .....the bill was 50 bucks for two spaghettis. Lol. The outside and inside of the restaurant looked higher end so I thought food must be very worth it and elegant, so I decided to let the long wait time go, and crazy price. We ordered the tomato & mozzarella and it was dry, tasteless that I had to ask for balsamic vingrette. Then we had the shrimps with prosciutto and it was a bit bland. We also had their Antipasto and the only thing was okay, was their fried calamari. For our entrees, we had the linguine vongole with white wine sauce, it was a bit bland as well but they did give a lot of clams. I decide after Assumption Day Mass to have late dinner at this great Italian place! The problem with this area is finding a parking spot. Which takes a couple of passes. Dom the owner, whom I've met before comes right over to say hello We chat about business, and he says I've been doing this for 32 years. He's 63 a baby. I tell him to stick with it. He buys me another Prosecco! A prince!! For the main course I order the chicken special. Chicken breast sautéed in white wine with mushrooms, prosciutto snd mozzarella. It comes and is tender and marvelous. Absolutely delicious. The wine sauce makes it truly special. With rice it's perfect It's quiet tonight, but it is late and the place is supposed to be closed, but hey not a problem. I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance earlier this year and have had a hard time finding places to eat. A lot of restaurants claim to be "gluten-free friendly " but usually have disclaimers that the prep areas aren't sanitized in between, gloves aren't changed, nor do they have seperate fryers. Needless to say I have gotten sick more than once and have become very cautious about going out. I made reservations for me and my husband to have a little date night after reading a lot of positive reviews from those with celiac. The entire restaurant is very cozy and intimate. We were kindly greeted and shown to our special table. Each table had plexiglass in between and were spaced out. When we were shown the menu I couldn't believe that 95% of the items on there were gluten-free or had the option to make it gluten-free. Usually I can only get a simple salad or 2 items so this itself was a huge win. We started off with the calamari and mozzarella en carrozza. As soon as I asked our waiter if they could be made gluten-free he right away jot it down and spoke with me about my options. He even showed me the gluten-free certification they hung up in the restaurant to make me feel at ease about ordering. After taking our orders he brought me some gf breadsticks to snack on. He was so kind and attentive. The starters were so good and even my husband (who can eat gluten) could not tell the difference with this and the regular version. I also noticed on both plates there were colored dots which I assumed indicated that they were prepped differently so there would be no cross contamination. For our main entree I ordered the Chicken Francaise and my husband ordered the Pollo Scarpariello. Both were cooked to perfection and were absolutely delicious. After our meal the owner came to speak with us to make sure everything went well. He spoke to us about his daughter who was diagnosed with celiac a few years ago. He took time to create this extensive menu, seperate prep stations, fryers, and a color codes system to accommodate those with gluten sensitivities and give them a place where they can enjoy themselves (without the fear of getting sick). Overall we had a wonderful date night! I highly recommend this place especially to those who have gluten allergies. I know I will be coming back. read more

One of my girlfriends rented out the whole restaurant and hosted her daughter's first birthday here. I loved the exposed brick throughout the restaurant and the decorations worked really well against the walls. Food wise, everything was delicious! I absolutely loved their bruschetta appetizers and probably asked them to refill it for our table about 3-4x. The tomatoes were fresh and it had a bit of a spice to it. The garden salad was good and the penna alla vodka was so creamy. My salmon entree was also pretty tasty. I just tried this amazing restaurant for the first time tonight and really loved it! I live in Manhattan and can find some excellent gluten free pizza at a few places but it's next to impossible to find a restaurant with as extensive as a menu as Papazzio's! I especially can't wait to come back and try the baked clams!!! Other than that incredibly exciting menu ( 95% can be gluten free!!) what really stood out was the chicken!! It was so flavorful, loved the sauce and the portions but especially the way it was perfectly cooked and prepared and how juicy it was, even after being in a take out container for that long of a trip! The food was pleasantly still warm by the time it was on my plate- no reheating necessary! Everything was packed beautifully and thoughtfully and it was ready and waiting exactly when they said it would be! Absolutely can't wait to come back and try even more amazing AND gluten free food here! It's especially nice to know I can relax and enjoy their food without worry about getting sick. Dominick has celiac and they are extremely careful .. a separate fryer, prep station etc and I heard in the restaurant they also have great gluten free breadsticks! Call me an old soul, but we have always appreciated coming here to enjoy that Italian comfort food, with a little live music. Everytime we come, the host is gracious, and the service is refined and diligent, with the food never disappointing. The ambiance has that Sinatra motif, as the crowd usually is on the older side. This is a nice change of pace for us, as one must switch it up from time to time and embrace the different demographic spaces to which Papazzio does, masterfully. This review is short and sweet, but I must mention that in our handful of great Italian eateries in Bayside that we gravitate towards consistently, Papazzio is definitely high on the list. read more

Came here last night for dinner with a friend. She has been here numerous times and is a regular. For appetizer we shared calamari which was fried to perfection. For entree I had the fettuccine special of the day. It had chicken, shrimp, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms with a light cream sauce. Omg it was yummy and a huge portion. I had the rest today for lunch. My friend had a chicken dish (forgot the name) which had a salad on top of thin sliced breaded cutlets. I had a pomegranate martini which was perfect. My friend drank Merlot (her drink of choice). For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Everything was perfect. Our waitress was attentive but also gave us our space. It was my first time coming here last night for dinner. The place is small and wasn't busy on a Sunday night. Appetizers: Baked Clams..was so delicious! The sauce was so flavorful! Entrees: linguine with clams and the filet mignon. Both were delicious! Dessert: Oreo Chocolate Mousse Cake was so good!!! Very addicting. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for the food. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the restrooms being downstairs and there was no long mirror in the restroom for women to look at themselves! So many great things to note: 1) My friend was seated prior to the whole party getting there. 2) It was relatively busy for a Wednesday night and parties were seated with some space between 3) The apps were so delicious: Mozzarella in Carozza, Grilled Portobello, and Fried Calamari (sorry dove right in and didn't take pics) 4) Neverending freshly baked bread with a scrumptious white bean olive oil dip 5) I had the Rigatoni with Shrimp, Spinach, Tomatoes in a garlic sauce: FANTASTIC and still so reheated as a leftover. 6) With the small space we had left for dessert, the five of us shared the Salted Caramel pie, Oreo Mousse, and as recommended, the Apple Cinnamon Tart. All so delicious. 7) Alcoholic beverages were never empty for long. Plus you know me and my water, tap water in the bottle on the table so I could fill up at will is a nice touch, as well as replacement bottles even before the one was empty. 8) Saving the best for last: service by George was beyond great plus the owner took the time to check in on us. Visited here for the first time last night with my husband and daughter to explore their "Restaurant Week" Meñu, which we were really excited about. A 3 course meal for $45? What's not to love? We started with the calamari and salad- which were pretty good but extremely small. For dinner we had Chicken Parm and Chicken Francaise. I was very clear to ask the server about this meal and she told us that the Chicken Francaise was 2 pieces of breaded chicken over veggies. When the meal arrives, it is literally the smallest plate I've ever seen, with 1 small piece of chicken over a few veggies- meanwhile the chicken parm had 2 pieces of chicken and was a decent size. When I asked her about this she says "oh yeah, I'm sorry I gave you wrong information, but for restaurant week it's smaller portions" That was confusing because 15 mins prior she mentioned nothing of this, and said we get 2 pieces of chicken! We did have a tiny bit of Parm left and asked her if we could take it to go. (Figured our little girl can have it for lunch the next day). But when it never came, she said "oh I'm sorry I thought you said you DIDN'T want it" I was pretty frustrated at this point and kept my mouth shut, but she did make it right by asking the kitchen to whip up another piece of chicken Parm for us to take to go.. this we did appreciate. Overall this place was "just okay" and the restaurant week portions are on the smaller side, so if you're coming in just be aware of these things!
