Sandwiches and service were good, but the vibe was a little strange in this dimly lit restaurant that almost had a dive bar feel to it. I wanted a quick snack of some wings before I picked up some sandwiches to go. I went belly up to the bar for my order with only one other person sitting at the bar. Said person proceeded to tell me that this place was recently robbed and also talked about how she thought her car was haunted. She told me multiple times that she didn't drink while she was drinking. It was strange, but I'm not going to dock the restaurant for that, they can't control their patrons. I think the prices have gone up a little compared to the menu I saw online. It was $35 for 2 Reubens and 6 wings. I guess that's about right for these days and times, but seemed like it was a couple bucks more than it should be. I'll probably be back, but just going to call my order in next time. read more

Great local spot with kind service. Definitely a local heavy spot - some people didn't even have to order and the staff knew what they got! Steak and cheese was very tasty. I got the steak and my mom got the chicken. Only comment we both had was the portion size for the price. The meat was a little light in each sandwich. Great local eatery! Located in Matthews off independence and not too far from the main shopping areas. Came in for lunch with my dad on a Tuesday. Parking lot was out front and there were a few spots open right up front and more down the strip mall. When we went inside the space was small and all the tables were full so we sat at the bar, which ended up being a great spot for watching tv and getting service right away! I tried the turkey Reuben with homemade chips and my dad got a build your own deli ham sandwich with ruffles potato chips. My dad would not stop ranting and raving about the hoagie roll and loved his sandwich! My Reuben was also very tasty, with enough flavor and crunch on the toasted bread that it filled me up! The sweet tea was sweeeeet and fountain soda was perfect for dad. This place is no thrills, but good food, friendly service, and a local staple that makes you feel like family! I'll definitely be back soon to try another plate and maybe even the homemade desserts! read more

Hidden gem in Matthews for a great sandwich and surprisingly diverse draft beer selection. I had two different Triple C's, a Red Oak and a Guinness. Wish they had fried pickles but they did have homemade chips that were yummy. I had the Philadelphia which is basically pastrami, slaw and dressing. My side was the house salad which had generous portions of green peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers. Next time, I want to try the chicken salad. Service was friendly and attentive. I can't believe I forgot to write this review! So I found them because I love Thumanns deli meat-and YES they sell it by the lb! I was in Matthews so I thought I would give them a try. I had garlic Parmesan wings...they were small but very tasty and they make their own ranch so that's a win for me! I also tried what I call a Rachel/Reuben sandwich bc I wanted corned beef and pastrami but made like the Reuben! It was delicious! What a hidden gem!! The locals know it's here, but if a lady walking at Stallings Park hadn't suggested it I wouldn't have even noticed it! It was so wonderful! The Chicken Salad Sandwich was beautiful and maybe the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had! Wish I had taken a picture but we ate it...every crumb! Homemade chips with their homemade ranch was suggested by the waitress and now highly suggested by me! I swear I'd come back just for the pickle! We've driven past this place many times when visiting family in Holly Springs. The name and look of the building made us curious and it always seemed busy so we gave it a try. Glad we did! The food was great and very creative. I had soup and salad and my wife had a chicken salad sandwich. As usual, we shared everything. Sounds like a typical boring lunch but not here. Our server told us the menu changes often and what I had wouldn't even be on it the next month. I look forward to returning. Good deli/grill comfort food and good service. I had the Italian sub, one of the best I've had with fries that were fresh cut. My wife's roast beef au-juice was soggy and the ranch was homemade but little flavor. All in all a good alternative when in the area. read more

Just moved to the area and pass this every time I go home. That could be dangerous! They are super friendly and the food is made to order - no heat lamps here! I asked for a special request sandwich and they made it happen...and made it so good it should be a vegetarian menu item if I do say so myself! Great little find. Stopped by to grab some lunch. Ordered a Gyro and my friend wanted a mix of a Reuben and a Rachel. Tiffany, our server, was very accommodating and friendly. Service was fast. Chips were great, nicely cooked and lightly salted and served with ranch. Gyro was good, I liked how they chopped up the toppings so it didn't all come out with the first bite. The Rachel/Reuben was done right; hot , not greasy and right amount of toppings. Fries crisp and hot. Overall a really nice lunch. It's a small place that's been around 30 years. Good food! We ordered wings and hot dogs. Hot dogs, bun to dog size is off, but the good news is the buns are so good and they grill them a bit to get a nice sear. The hot dogs are a very nice size with good snap. All the fixing on top and I ate it all!!! The wings were very good as well a few over cooked but the Buffalo sauce was great. I have tried this place a few times. It's fairly consistent. Not great, but consistent. That said, it's really frustrating to show up and this place is closed on a Friday, Saturday, or another random weekday. I always feel like they close without warning, and I can only assume it's because they are understaffed, unprofessional, or both. We are rarely in this area so, of course, we decided to pop into a pub. Upon entering, I was surprised how small it was and noticed it was an older crowd. Probably explains why out of 4 TVs, only two were playing March Madness, the other golf and racing. My attention was quickly diverted to the great 90's music they were playing. Nice touch and allowed me to be flooded with memories of Weezer, Cranberries and good ol' Beastie Boys. We sat at the bar as usual. They have 11 taps plus one special one to pour the perfect Guinness. Denise provided us with menus and offered to get us something to drink. We temporarily declined as the ardous task of looking for a reasonable ABV and good taste combo commenced. We chose an IPA. The menu had a pretty good variety. The appetizers were reasonably priced as no app should be more than $8, in my opinion. We got coeslaw (my husband's fave) to go and Greek pita with tzatziki sauce. Not bad but found it odd not to have dill in the sauce. Overall, this place is average. Nothing stood out for me. I guess if one lived near by it's a nice place to be a regular. read more

The baklava is the best I have ever eaten. Our waitress was not very friendly or talkative. My husband and son loved the wings said the best in Charlotte. My drink was ok not great but if you want wings this is the place to go and dessert -Baklava yummy! read more

This is my go to place for Buffalo wings. I have been eating wings here since they were 25 cents a piece. The wings are the best I have eaten in Charlotte since I arrived in 1995. Also, they have the best Ruben in town. I just had the Ruben sandwich and it is still priced less than $10 with a side. Try it, you want be disappointed. So.. Had lunch there today, the server, 20 something brown hair acted like it was a complete PIA to have to do her job. She was detached and arrogant. I asked for a salt shaker she points to this basket of ketchup and tells me there is some in there, I look and lo and behold 1 packet so asked for more and she reluctantly brought me 2 more like they were coming out of her pay check.
