Love the vibe of a mom & pop Southern restaurant like this - I just hate how much the prices have jumped since Covid. This is typical of every place, but sad that places like this (which tend to always be cheaper options than over-priced chains) are now too expensive to visit more often.

I need to grab and go. I see plenty cars all the time at this restaurant. My macaroni and turnip greens were fine. However, the chicken breast was the size of a bird but it was tasty and candy yam from the can was bland.Never had a 'sweet' turkey dressing until now. most of the diners were senior citizens, and I believe that the lightly seasoned food caters to their customers, which is fine.Good customer happy vibes throughout.

This is an old school gem of a diner. Simple and inexpensive traditional fare done quickly, with friendly and attentive service. I sat at the counter and chatted with the wait staff between their tasks. The coffee was easy to drink (though don't expect to find any nut milks here). There was none of the edgy impatience of Starbucks or stuffy aloofness you might encounter at many bougie breakfast boutiques around town. Highly recommend.

This place is so good! Food is 10/10. Definitely recommend. It's busy for a reason. With that being said, there will be a small wait on your food. So, expect that if you're visiting on a weekend. The French Toast is absolutely delicious and their biscuits and gravy are top tier. I will be back for sure!

What's not to like about this Greek family-run joint? They provide friendly service, delicious $6.95 meat and two veggie daily specials, a 98.5 sanitary rating and a comfortable dining room, all while boldly staring at the wildly popular Stacks across the street. In fact, I've eaten breakfast at Stacks many times and have never noticed this place until our dinner tonight, which they offer, while Stacks does not. Good for us! I went with the Turkey and Dressing with Gravy with homemade mac & cheese and limas. Turkey was not sliced as I expected, instead it was very tender pulled white and dark meat with a savory gravy. Delicious! Limas were piping hot and mac & cheese was homemade although a bit dry. My wife's dish, the Grilled Chicken with Onions & Peppers, gave me food envy though. Served hot and sizzling off the grill, over rice, it was superb. Her sides, fresh mashed potatoes and green beans were also very good. Will I return? You're darn right I will! Definitely for dinner, maybe for lunch... but for breakfast? I'm still going across the road.

Great food, great service! They always have specials and every day it's something delicious You feel like family when you go there! I highly recommend East 74 and do try their banana pudding.

I highly recommend this grilled chicken tips plate with two sides. Very good tasting and a great value!

This was my first time trying Chex and I probably would give them 1 more chance to see if they were just having a bad day. Wish they would've sprinkled some of the salt on the Philly quesadilla because it was tasteless and not seasoned at all. There were no onions, peppers, mushrooms or any type of vegetable in it at all. I was highly disappointed BUT at least the lemonade was good. It was sweet but that's how I like my lemonade so I won't complain about that. I'm very disappointed because I had a long day and just wanted a tasty meal to wind down and this was far from it . The pizza and local convenience is the only reason we came here a few times. For the quality of the pizza, I still consider it a great value compared to other "social media trendy" but highly overpriced, overrated places. The environment can be nice, especially with the "night light" lamps they put on the table, music is not overwhelmingly loud or obnoxious. The white tablecloth is a nice touch. The chairs are decent. However, the wait can be very long, even if not busy. We've been here at least 4 times on various days and times (weekdays, late afternoons, early evenings, weekends, etc.) and we typically wait about 40+ minutes or so for the food to be ready. Even when there's only 2-3 other customers around, it takes about 25-30 minutes after ordering for the food to receive it. The last time we were here, it took more than 1 hour for the food to be ready. The service staff is extremely nice. However, there's still something "off" about this place and them. For example, the bar worker is expected to not only pour drinks at the bar, but also attend to non-bar restaurant guests. This is kind of weird. This place seems to give more attention and priority to bar customers and alcohol drinking "buddies" of the bar staff. The staff loves to sit and chat with their "friends" (regulars) while minimally and superficially attending to normal customers with a less sense of priority and urgency. I don't expect them to rush every single thing, but it was extremely obvious that the focus was to prioritize bar patrons over non-alcohol restaurant customers. Perhaps this is for profit reasons and if so, they should just be honest about it and separate bar staff from food waiters, like normal places do, or just simply be a bar place and not a pizza place. Also, the pizza making area is open and you can hear the workers every argument and discussion when it comes to wages, scheduling, next shift coverage, etc.. This is weird. At the price point of this pizza, I didn't think staff was being treated and paid so poorly. The vibe of the workers was just so "off", in general. The waitresses and waiters are very nice but often aloof and behave oddly. Like, is there something sketchy going on at this place? Are they on substances? Everyone is friendly but has no attention to detail, urgency or anything else. The last time we were here, it was very busy. But it took at least 1 hour to make 2 or 3 pizzas. The manager could tell we weren't happy. However, we didn't even know he was the manager as he didn't introduce himself properly but offered to comp our meal. This place gets 2 stars because of him and the delicious pizza . But if I ever come back, it'll just be order out by myself. The other person I came with absolutely hated the service and wait of this place and doesn't want to come back again.

Typically, when someone from a restaurant reaches out to me about my review, especially when they are not 5 star, I instantly become skeptical. However, this owner made me feel comfortable to share my thoughts and explain how my visit went before anything else. Over the years, I have received tons of owners offering me a free meal in exchange for my integrity but I could tell this owner was extremely genuine and wanted to make sure my voice was heard. The initial post will remain the same but I wanted to amend some of the initial remarks including the service. The first time I tried this place, I received service that was not in alignment to the core values and standards this restaurant upholds, which, I am human and I have worked in food service for years so trust me, I get it. Since being back twice since my initial visit, I have been treated like family. The service has been up to par and the staff has been incredibly friendly. As far as the ambiance, it gives the feel of an old diner which makes it charming and lovable. Perhaps, some restorations and furnishings can be done nothing that isn't manageable. Lastly, I wanted to make sure to do a thorough review of the menu so when I went back twice after my initial review, I tried a menu item for each the breakfast menu and the dinner menu. The food was great! It was favorable, warm and packed with fresh ingredients. I tried the ribs and Mac and cheese as well as a breakfast plate on two separate occasions without letting the restaurant know I was coming back for a remake. The only thing I wasn't super thrilled about was the Mac and Cheese, other than that it was good. It goes to saying that their standards are commendable as they do care about their service, food and experience of the customers.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.
