Had a pretty amazing blackened Swiss cheeseburger. The fries were excellent. Better get there quick they're closing in mid March.

A hidden gem in the Meyers Park neighborhood on Providence Rd: Fenwick's, a restaurant that has been a cornerstone of Charlotte dining for over 40 years. This recommendation comes courtesy of a local foodie and burger connoisseur--thanks, friend! Parking is free, but be aware that the lot can fill up quickly on busy nights. The ambiance at Fenwick's captures the quintessential neighborhood bar atmosphere, where locals come together for a comfortable and familiar experience. The decor is straightforward and unpretentious, featuring carpeted floors, wooden booths and tables, and a full bar with about eight seats. The music playlist is perfectly curated, with tunes from Bob Marley to the Allman Brothers adding to the laid-back vibe. Fenwick's menu, with everything made in-house, offers a selection of classic American fare. Highlights include their signature tomato bisque and the "Nawlins Po' Boy," available with either fried shrimp or oysters. For those seeking lighter options, there are dishes like salmon or quiche. The daily specials board is a standout, featuring soups, fish, salads, steaks, and desserts. My waitress, Stacey, has been a fixture at this neighborhood gem for nine years. Her extensive knowledge of the menu and friendly demeanor made the dining experience even more enjoyable. I decided to try the "Fenwick's Burger," which boasts a thick, hand-pressed 8oz patty. I opted for American cheese and requested it be cooked to a medium temperature. The bun was soft and fluffy, lightly toasted with sesame seeds on top. The patty had a delightful backyard barbecue flavor, elevating this burger to one of my top choices for a straightforward, locally made option. For my side, I selected the house-made potato salad, which struck the perfect balance of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise, complemented by well-sized potato chunks. While hand-cut fries aren't included as a side (they must be ordered separately), other options such as salad, soup, and a daily special side--in this case, zucchini--are available. One of the daily specials was shrimp étouffée, a dish I hadn't enjoyed in quite some time. I ordered the last serving of the night for takeout, knowing that such dishes often taste even better the next day. I'll have to follow up with my thoughts later, but given the quality of the rest of my meal, I have high expectations. For those seeking a place with friendly and knowledgeable staff, a warm neighborhood atmosphere, and satisfying, home-cooked meals, Fenwick's is a must-visit. Thank you, foodie friend, for steering me in the right direction!

    Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya

This place is classic small intimate upscale great food. The service is family style. They do something different every night of the week. We went in Tuesday so they were doing creole food. I'm from New Orleans and was a little nervous and skeptical. I had the chicken and sausage jambalaya. Amazing! They put an extra piece of blackened sausage on top. Yumm. Jacob had the red beans and rice which is very authentic and delicious. We got a side of smothered cabbage which is the best cabbage I've ever had. It was creamy cheesy goodness. We did the fried shrimp appetizer and Janet did the cup of tomato heaven bisque. Also, delicious. We all ate from the bread pudding. WOW! New Orleans is known for bread pudding. It's authentic with a twist of buttery bourbon goodness and fresh whipped cream. Better than anything I've had before. I normally don't do dessert but had to try. It was sensuous and delicious. Can't recommend this place enough. It's great food and great service with a local feel.

When you want great comfort food this is the place to go. My first visit I had a great salad. Today I tried the fried flounder. It was delicious with a very generous serving. I really like how this is a place that the regulars recognize each other. Hopefully I will become one of those. Nice, quick lunches.

My wife took me here for my birthday dinner and I'm very glad she did. It's a very small restaurant, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in amazing food! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer suggestions. The Cajun burger was on special so I decided to try it, and it was fantastic! Their menu isn't very big, but the food is very good, so whatever you order is sure to be delicious. There is parking on site, but not a lot so plan accordingly. I'd definitely like to come back and try something else and if you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.

Great hidden gem off providence rd. Small inside and a few patio tables. We went around on a Saturday so no wait. Small menu but great food. They have daily specials and awesome drinks. This place has been around a long time. Serving brunch as well. Our next trip here will be for the french toast :).

    French toast and avocado smash

I love this neighborhood restaurant. The feel is very personal, as the staff knows all the regulars. Sadly I don't go enough to be one of those, but am working on it. Brunch - oh my goodness, a must try! Not a young, boozy place, but the food is amazing. It has a diner type feel, but a nice neighborhood one - not a dirty hole in the wall one. They have daily specials on the chalk board, and these are my go tos. Avocado smash is like an open faced sandwich and so flavorful and delicious. Bananas Foster French Toast had so much flavor and while it's a sweet dish, it was so tasty. It was worth sharing since a whole order of this might be a bit overwhelming. Highly recommend!

Pricing as of Jan. 2023. Burger was $8.95 3 years ago. 14.95 now. But you bankers don't mind. You've got the $$$.
    Philip L.

The food was not bad. But like everything I guess it felt like it was over price but that's what we have to deal with because of high inflation I suppose. I don't give it very hard marks because the atmosphere was pretty basic and unwelcoming. Very basic. And crowded.

Not the same since new ownership. Smaller portions, different food quality. Perhaps a change of name and theme.

Ordered two glasses of red and the cheese plate only to be told after we received the wine that there was no charcuterie -- at all. Not a "need to substitute" or "we're missing one of the items" just completely 86ed. Despite being prominently featured at the top of the menu! Since we already had our wine, we had to order something else. I went with the cheese sticks, and my mom ordered a hamburger based on what the table next to us had. When she got her burger though, despite us ordering the same as the table next to us, it was a completely different burger. She ate it anyway and my cheese sticks were okay for pub food. But overall, a really disappointing experience based on what we expected. And we had to hunt down the server to pay so we could get back to the conference on time.

The first time was in November 2025 and 2nd time March 2026 where the bartenders were professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and made some of the best Bloody Marys we've had in Charlotte. The food was excellent, and we left both times excited to come back. Unfortunately, this Sunday's visit (around 2 p.m.) felt like a different restaurant. It was much busier, and service was noticeably lacking. We waited quite a while just to be acknowledged, our drinks weren't nearly the quality they had been before, and the Bloody Mary tasted like it came straight from a mix instead of being handcrafted like our previous visits. The food was also disappointing. It was much saltier than we remembered, and we never received the Caesar salad with steak we ordered. To the staff's credit, it wasn't on our bill, so we didn't mention it. Overall, no one was rude, but the attention to detail, professionalism, and overall experience that earned our previous five-star reviews just wasn't there this time. We're hoping this was simply an off day because we genuinely loved this place and would like to see it return to the high standard that made us regular customers.

The highlights for us were definitely the fried pickles and the cauliflower--both were good and something I'd come back for. Everything else was just alright, hence the reason I deducted a star. We also loved that there was a pool table it added a lot to the experience but I do wish it was free instead of $2 a game. Still, not a dealbreaker. It has the typical sandwich ingredients but everything is of decent quality. It is not a heavy meal yet it delivers a perfect amount of satiation to begin a night out. The Fried Pickles prepared with a perfect ratio of pickle to batter and perfect for sharing amongst friends. Easily my favorite thing about the place is the pool tables. There is one inside and one outside on the patio. Shooting pool throughout the night and having the lively atmosphere makes for such a wonderful time. We have seemed to have good luck with getting a table but other times we have had to wait. There's a natural center of gravity which keeps myself and the group returning to the daily. Pool tables, never too crowded, solid outdoor areas, and quality food seldom found at bars. I will be coming back in the future and definitely recommend stopping by anybody looking for a calm luh night out.

He first suggested a cranberry spritzer, then recommended a lemon drop and a strawberry chipotle mojito. Unfortunately, both drinks were disappointing. The lemon drop was bland, and the strawberry chipotle mojito barely tasted like it had any alcohol and was also lacking flavor. We were told the upstairs comedy club had recently been renovated. While it looked updated, I was surprised by how small the stage was. The seating also felt cramped, with four people expected to share a very small table. Compared to other comedy clubs we've visited in Charlotte, the layout just didn't feel well thought out. The highlight of the night was getting to see Flame Monroe, but overall the venue itself didn't leave a lasting impression. If you're curious, it's worth visiting once to experience it for yourself, but it's probably not a place we'll return to.
