An excellent selection of hard to find spirits!

We make no secret about it - The Hill Bar & Grill is our favorite place in Mint Hill NC. We've been going there for years and have always found the Staff, food and drinks to be excellent. We were recently back in Mint Hill for our high school reunion. Walking in the door we were met with such warm greetings that we felt honored. We had not been there in 4 years but it felt like yesterday. We did discover some changes had been made! The menu has expanded and the bourbon selection has been greatly improved. As true bourbon lovers, we were thrilled with the new options. And please understand - this is a restaurant with great food and drinks but they do not allow over indulgence. As always, Brittany, Courtney, Dave and the entire Staff provided great food, drinks and smiles during our visits. And they still have the most amazing fried pickles we've ever found! When in Mint Hill or traveling through Charlotte, please give The Hill a try. They frequently have specials and we think it's just an overall great place. Many THANKS to the Hill Team and we look forward to our next visit. Cheers, L&J Miami Beach

Best wings in Charlotte hands down. Dave and his staff are top notch. They offer great food, a hell of a bourbon selection, and a fun environment. If you find yourself in Mint Hill, this is a must stop.

The food is great, we had the fried pickles (so crisp). Then my husband had the burger, and I had salad and crab balls, both really good. The service and owner are great and attentive. The sweet potato tots with homemade cinnamon butter were yum.

Our waitress, Zoe, was phenomenal. They may have been out of the wine we ordered but she was very suggestive of another alternative that turned out to be even better. She came back, took our orders and not to our surprise, it all came out perfect because she was very in tune when taking our orders. Several people checked on us throughout our dining experience. However, Alex, he stood out. He made sure to clean extra plates and glasses out of our way and made sure we were having a great time there. Overall, this restaurant has always been a go to, but tonight, it'll be a weekly must. Love their specials and wine selection! Just wish they were open one hour later during the week!

My only critique is that the appetizer selection is a bit limited, but the huge variety of main dishes more than makes up for it. Very homey, very friendly, and exactly the kind of spot you want in your neighborhood.

I came in on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait for a table, but we were able to grab a drink nearby and didn't mind the wait, we figured it must be worth it. It sure was! There's a reason they are a crowd favorite, and it has to do with the food, the service, and the reasonable prices. I elected to have the Buffalo chicken quesadilla, and we started with an order of cheese curds. They also look like they have some delicious wings and burgers. If I lived in the Mint Hill area this would be one of my go to's when I wanted a nice meal and a drink or two. Nothing fancy. Just good food for a reasonable price!

My son ordered a traditional boli which was large that came with a bowl of red sauce. Their red sauce is outstanding! Halfway through he asked for more red sauce and she delivered a new bowl quickly. The pizza and local convenience is the only reason we came here a few times. For the quality of the pizza, I still consider it a great value compared to other "social media trendy" but highly overpriced, overrated places. The environment can be nice, especially with the "night light" lamps they put on the table, music is not overwhelmingly loud or obnoxious. The white tablecloth is a nice touch. The chairs are decent. However, the wait can be very long, even if not busy. We've been here at least 4 times on various days and times (weekdays, late afternoons, early evenings, weekends, etc.) and we typically wait about 40+ minutes or so for the food to be ready. Even when there's only 2-3 other customers around, it takes about 25-30 minutes after ordering for the food to receive it. The last time we were here, it took more than 1 hour for the food to be ready. The service staff is extremely nice. However, there's still something "off" about this place and them. For example, the bar worker is expected to not only pour drinks at the bar, but also attend to non-bar restaurant guests. This is kind of weird. This place seems to give more attention and priority to bar customers and alcohol drinking "buddies" of the bar staff. The staff loves to sit and chat with their "friends" (regulars) while minimally and superficially attending to normal customers with a less sense of priority and urgency. I don't expect them to rush every single thing, but it was extremely obvious that the focus was to prioritize bar patrons over non-alcohol restaurant customers. Perhaps this is for profit reasons and if so, they should just be honest about it and separate bar staff from food waiters, like normal places do, or just simply be a bar place and not a pizza place. Also, the pizza making area is open and you can hear the workers every argument and discussion when it comes to wages, scheduling, next shift coverage, etc.. This is weird. At the price point of this pizza, I didn't think staff was being treated and paid so poorly. The vibe of the workers was just so "off", in general. The waitresses and waiters are very nice but often aloof and behave oddly. Like, is there something sketchy going on at this place? Are they on substances? Everyone is friendly but has no attention to detail, urgency or anything else. The last time we were here, it was very busy. But it took at least 1 hour to make 2 or 3 pizzas. The manager could tell we weren't happy. However, we didn't even know he was the manager as he didn't introduce himself properly but offered to comp our meal. This place gets 2 stars because of him and the delicious pizza . But if I ever come back, it'll just be order out by myself. The other person I came with absolutely hated the service and wait of this place and doesn't want to come back again.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

My classic turkey sandwich was a bit underwhelming for the price. I think $17.99 for an ordinary turkey sandwich is a lot since the cheese wasn't even melted, nor was the bread toasted. My husband's meatloaf sandwich was $19.99 and his sweet tea was $3.99. The hummus appetizer, which was a few mouthfuls for two people to share, was $5.00. Our bill was a whopping $59.00 and some change, including tip. We skipped dessert. I think a little piece of cake was around $15.99. If we choose to return I'd order something else to justify the price. The atmosphere is nice and our server was pleasant. I'd say try it out if you're in the neighborhood.
