My family went for dinner on a Monday night, which kids eat free , for spirit night. Empire supports its community by donating 10% of proceeds to local schools. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately with kindness and a smile. I noticed many take-out orders being picked up by customers. It's a great place if you want to bring your kids sports team after practice or a game. They are very accommodating to large groups. I like how the restaurant is split up, one side is for families and the other is a nice bar with lots of TVs. They have covered outdoor seating that's above most restaurants I've experienced with TVs, as well. Our waitress was very friendly, kind, and helpful. She even turned on cartoons for my toddler on one of the large TVs closest to our booth. The house made ranch dressing is really tasty. I ordered extra to take for my leftovers. If you're not in the mood for a large pizza, they have cheese or pepperoni by the slice available. The slices are BIG! I was only able to eat one slice with my side salad [that was fresh]. We have been trying to find a new pizza place, the last few that we've tried just haven't been all that great. So we gave empire pizza a try for takeout and it was really good. The pizza was cooked nicely and all the toppings refresh. One thing that we noticed when ordering pizza is we like mushrooms on our pizza and you could tell they use fresh mushrooms, not canned mushrooms. Also ordered wings on the side and their wings were excellent. Got the hot honey wings and they were just the right amount of sweetness. Came to Empires for dinner with friends and decided to sit outside on the patio which it looked like it was gonna start raining and the manager was so nice he made sure to put the covers down before it started so we could still sit outside for the duration of our meal. What I loved about this pizza shop is you can buy by the slice at anytime which is perfect for my daughter because she doesn't like kid size pizzas she loves slices so we got a couple slice and for myself I got the Cajun wrap and pasta salad that were both really good. The Cajun had great heat and the pasta salad was creamy I loved the noodles they used. Definitely would eat here again. read more

We decided to give ourselves a break so we ventured out to Empire Pizza Bar in Mint Hill and I must say it was worth the trip! Our server was Olivia and she was fantastic! She was able to suggest some of the customer favorites on the menu and they were great suggestions. We noticed Olivia continuously checked on all of her tables to make sure they were having a great dining experience. We ordered garlic, parmesan wings, and buffalo wings. Along with a veggie pizza. The wings were accompanied by a house ranch sauce that was so tasty I could have drank a cup of it (lol). The veggie pizza was covered with the freshest vegetables and cheese and it was excellent! Women's restroom toilet seats are dangerous as 2 of 3 stalls are hanging sideways off of toilet seat base. 2 of 3 stalls no toilet paper. Handicap stall has out of order sign. This is on a Sunday at 229pm. The response from one of the hostess was she's been too busy to check. I don't believe her checking would correct the toilet seat issues as they need repairs. It could possibly help with lack of toilet paper and cleanliness. read more

We decided to order pizza and wings from Empire to enjoy while watching the Colorado vs Oregon game. Fortunately, the food lived up to our expectations because the game was a bit of a letdown... lol. Anyway, Empire is a go-to spot for my sister and brother-in-law, and I was just visiting for the weekend. The pizza was genuinely one of the best I've had in a while. As for the wings - OMG, they were fantastic. I'm quite picky about wings; I don't like them too big, and I can't stand if they're over or undercooked. But with Empire, no complaints at all - the wings were delicious. We ordered 20, but honestly, I wish we had gone for more because they were that good. I've eaten there several times over the years. I feel as though the quality of the food has been steadily declining. Tonight's dinner was by far the worst. I had spaghetti and meatballs; a very simple dish. I'm confident that it came out of a can. It was very comparable to Chef Boyardee. They served it with bread that looked like it was a slice of sub sandwich bread with some mystery goo smeared on it. It was very disappointing for a $15 sandwich. The calzone with sausage was also disappointing. The large hunks of sausage did not taste very sausage-y. After a long day of gardening in the hot sun we were ready for some fresh and delicious pizza and Empire Pizza was a perfect choice. We had the large Mama and the Five Boroughs Meat pizzas. It was great both immediately and reheated the next day. Great pick up service and friendly staff at the hostess stand. The waitress must of been on her phone or not paying attention. Ordered the meatball appetizer, teriyaki and pineapple, not alot of taste to the meatball and way to much sauce, more like a soup. Ordered the 2 Brothers Pizza, ok, but there are better pizzas in Mint Hill. We had a large 1 topping, wings (Carolina gold & Garlic Parmesan), and the Philly cheesesteak (chicken) quesadillas...OMG!!! Everything was DELICIOUS!!!! Surprisingly we ordered through DoorDash and the food remained fresh and hot upon delivery, their packaging was secured and food was intact. The pizza was cheesy and flavorful. The wings were decent size and the sauces were through and through. The quesadillas were just like eating a Philly cheesesteak. I was very very very pleased, as always. Update to my original review. After confirming that they do pre-cook their Sicilian pizza dough, Empire extended an offer to try the Sicilian pizza again which we did. I appreciate the fact that they offer cauliflower crust with any pizza. Our server was kind and attentive. Still a great beer selection. You can also get rubs on your wings instead of sauce if you are watching your sugar. I wish they would bring back their buffalo cauliflower bites. Their sanitation rating is also troubling. Came in for a late dinner last week and had a great experience! Abby took care of us and she was so friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. There are awesome specials every day of the week and we happen to come on wing night, so of course had to get that deal. We were really impressed with the juiciness to crispiness ratio along with the flavor. Also tried the Moscow mules that were discounted, they had a ton of different flavor combinations. Pretty yummy. He had a less traditional bourbon one where I went with a refreshing strawberry basil. I ordered the vodka special pasta dish. It was not the vodka sauce I expected, it was more like your standard marinara red sauce which was pretty disappointing. I ordered a side of Alfredo to mix in to make it more to my liking (creamier & less acidic). I asked to swap the penne noodles with fettuccine, and that was no problem which I always appreciate. Again, Abby was top notch and helpful. We split the 2 Brother's Supreme Pizza. It was STUFFED with cheese and delicious flavor, the dough became kinda wet but that's to be expected with how much was on top. The garlic knots were mid.. pretty hard and lacked flavor so glad it was free as a side with the pasta dish. I will mention that the side Caesar salads were delicious and huge portions! I first came here when they first opened and have been back to this location a couple of times. Not only do they have pizza and a bar they also have wings, pasta, burgers, and other handhelds as well. Their tater tots and garlic knots are pretty good too! I've never really had any issues here, my only complaint is this place gets super packed after 5 pm especially on the weekends so service can get slow sometimes. All the waitresses and waiters I've encountered have been sweet and attentive! The main thing for me at a pizza spot is if their dough tastes fresh and it definitely does here, and the food is always hot and never really takes too long to come out. Used to love the pizza and the philly (just solid) from Empire. I'd actually classify this pizza as worthy of the extra drive, when it is cooked properly. Unfortunately the last 3 times, the pizza was just not good, and even undercooked when asked for well done. This last visit is prob my last for a long while. I was in the neighborhood and decided to grab a couple of quick pepperoni slices to go. I asked for well done. Took all of 5 mins. I got to my car, and had to put napkins down on the floorboard, just to soak up the grease on the outside of the super flimsy box, not to mention the cheese and pizza sauce on the outside of the box. What a wreck...Slices were stacked on top of each other, toppings already off of the pizza...sitting in a puddle of grease, and definitely not well done. It was very clear that the order was rushed and the kitchen just threw it in there, despite not being busy. Credit the service staff for being responsive and being cool about everything. Popped by on a Sunday evening for a beer and dinner. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice. I got a can of sycamore beer which we didn't know until we got the check but it was $8.50! Insanely overpriced. Thankfully after that we were drinking what was on special which was much cheaper. We ordered the tots to start with covered in cheese and bacon and they were excellent. This spot is legit! We were excited to give it a try since it was very close to home. It did not disappoint. The ambiance is great...chill vibe. They have plenty of TVs. I love a good pizza so we our friends suggested we order from Empire we were a little skeptical since we're not from NC and never heard of it. Well let me tell you it was one of the best pizzas!!! And their selection of food items was impressive. We ordered 2 pizzas the Queen & 2 Brothers. I don't eat pork or beef but I'm guessing by the empty pizza box it was good. The Queen was absolutely delicious, even though it was cold when we got it, it was still very good. So if you're debating on ordering from them just go ahead and do it. You won't be disappointed.
