We were greeted promptly and opted to sit at the bar. They have daily specials, which is always a plus in my book, and plenty of options for food. I must say, while sitting at the bar, everyone demolished their meals and we all had something different. If you check this place out, I recommend trying the sweet potato tots. Dunwellz is a neighborhood pub that serves mostly traditional bar food, but it does it very well! They are located in a nondescript shopping center in Mint Hill, but they are a local favorite so expect to see a large crowd. I came in on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait for a table, but we were able to grab a drink nearby and didn't mind the wait, we figured it must be worth it. It sure was! There's a reason they are a crowd favorite, and it has to do with the food, the service, and the reasonable prices. I elected to have the Buffalo chicken quesadilla, and we started with an order of cheese curds. They also look like they have some delicious wings and burgers. Whisper at two different meals, the burger with pimento cheese and the brisket sandwich we had mixed reviews between the two of us. The mini cheeseburger was more enjoyable to him. I didn't care for the pimento cheese.. I enjoyed the brisket sandwich. It was tender, and the barbecue sauce was tasty. The fries were good. The mac & cheese was not an adult mac & cheese. It was OK. The coleslaw was more chopped cabbage. There wasn't any coleslaw part to it. It's just dry My main problem with the restaurant is the waitresses all had their hair down. Stopped in after my daughter b-ball game. It's been year since we were here but I still remembered the great experience with the family. This visit we ordered the SW egg roll app. Then I ordered the Notorious PIG with a cup of loaded baked potato soup. My daughters both got chicken tenders and my wife got the French dip. We live in South Charlotte and go out of our way to come to Dunwellz -- the food is worth it the drive. Pro-tip: Definitely give their sweet potato tots with cinnamon-sugar butter dip a try. (Watch out, they are addictive!) Everything we've ordered has been exceptionally good and consistently so. As far as customer service, their servers go above and beyond. For example, tonight our server kindly brought me a sample of their mac & cheese just so I could try it as I was on the fence about ordering some. I didn't even ask for a sample and she was kind enough to do that. (I did order it and it reminds me of Ina Garter's Grown Up Mac & Cheese. Delicious and gourmet!) I love their Honey Hot Fried Chicken with pimento cheese. It's something I can't get anywhere else, and from what our server said, it is a customer favorite -- I can see why! My husband ordered the Build Your Own Custom Burger for $10. Dropped in for a quick bday celebration after work. This was my first visit. They had a special this day which was $6 martinis. I don't even drink martinis or anything strong but I tried the pineapple one. It was strong (for me) and I took the entire hour visit to drink the one haha. I got the salmon tacos and I got a side of the loaded fries. The salmon tacos were tasty. I enjoyed them. They weren't anything too crazy. The fries on the other hand, not so much. I wound of leaving them. The cheese dried hard so when you picked up a fry, the cheese fell off. The fries were severely seasoned so I needed a different sauce to mellow them out. Our first time to visit "Dunweilz Custom Kitchen and Pour House" in Mint Hill, less than 10 minutes from our house. Our other favorite beer place, Pour 64, was closed tonight. Enjoyed some brews and some of their chicken wings, they were fantastic! We went with half lemon pepper (dry rub) and half kickin' bourbon, which is one of their signature flavors. Unfoturnately things have gone downhill a bit since my last visit years ago, as mediocrity is the word of the day here with nothing done poorly but nothing done exceptionally well either. Plenty of TVs all around, but not really a sports bar as country music blared over the speakers as the pregame shows were on each TV since it was an NFL wildcard Sunday. Our server was friendly enough, so her personality is the reason for the 3 stars instead of 2. Food wise, the nachos with chili barely contained any meat as they were heavy on onions and tomatoes, but we had to dig to find much chili meat and the queso was unexplicably on the bottom for some reason. Did have moments where our server seem to disappear as we had to ask another server about having our plates cleared and also for our check. Also, we weren't asked if we wanted another round of drinks until after our plates had been cleared and our alcohol had been empty for a while, so by that point, we decided to pass. Overall, nothing to write home about as the value just wasn't there for the quality (or lack thereof) of the food, so not somewhere we will be visiting again. read more

The first time visiting, I had the grilled cheese, brisket sandwich, with sweet potato tots and their special sauce. The sandwich is incredible and the special sauce makes the sweet potatoes taste great. So on my second stop, I still had to have some more of those sweet potatoes with the sauce! They are very tasty. This time I got the Carolina hamburger with coleslaw, chili, cheddar cheese, and mustard. Great combination. Highly recommend you stop in and have a couple of beers.
