Stumptown Stations is a sort of elevated neighborhood bar. They put an emphasis on quality cocktails and the place is adorned with comfortable leather seating, but it is by no means stuffy. They have several TVs making it a great place for game day, and they also have live music on the weekend nights. You can belly up to the bar to watch football and chat with the bartender, or you can head up to the loft floor above if you want want a little more intimate experience. They really do offer a lot here. Also for what it's worth my girlfriend is a big espresso martini fan and claims the one she had here is among the best in the Charlotte area.

Authentic classic bar in the middle of beautiful downtown Matthews. If you want a night out with well crafted drinks and locals having a blast. The live music is fantastic at least this night the musician was wonderful. Loved the music atmosphere and drinks! I'd say is a spot you must visit at least once If you live in Charlotte. Also, perfect for a first date night drink or nightcap... or to meet new people also. The service is fast and friendly. Lovely time will be back.

Stumptown Station is a private bar (cocktail, wine, beer) located in Matthews, NC (around 15 miles Southeast of Charlotte, NC). Since it is a private club, there is a fee of $5 per year (or VIP at $30 per year, which comes with own engraved glass / mug). The membership of $5 allows each person to bring up to 4 guests (only 1 entry allowed). The space itself is located in a 2 level brownstone building. There are several options on the menus, but I really like Mules, so I decided to try their Matthews Market Mule (made with NC Vodka, NC Ginger Ale, Fresh Lime with Stumptown Seasonal Pick). At the time, mine was apple cider / cinnamon. NOM NOM NOM!! At the time of visit, there was a live DJ and then some Bingo. Definitely a fun atmosphere. ENJOY!!

This is a perfect example of what a local bar should be, as it is a located in a storefront on trade street that harkens back to days of old, but once you walk inside, you are greeted and treated like family in a very genuine and authentic way that is hard to find at most places large or small these days. The owner/bartender Brandon welcomed me with open arms and even though there was a decent crowd at the bar, he took the time to explain the concept of the bar to me, (private membership which included filling out info on an iPad along with a $5 membership fee that was simply added to the tab) including letting me know all about the local spirits and beers they carried. He also shared a few anecdotes about the various spirits which was a nice touch and really added to the down home feel of the place. At no time did I feel like an outcast, as both the staff and the bar patrons were friendly from the start and made me feel right at home even though it was my first time there. The Matthews market mule that I ordered was without a doubt the best take on a Moscow mule that I have ever had, as the local Salamander vodka paired with the cinnamon and apple that was added to the drink made took it to a completely different level than the standard Moscow mule as the flavors complemented each other so well and the drink didn't have the heavy ginger beer taste that is so typical of most Moscow mules that I have tried across Charlotte. In closing, I just want to say that this is the kind of place that I wish was closer to me as I would totally be a regular if it was. Also would be cool if they served food, but they do allow you to bring in food from the local places, but not the same as a one stop shop. Small nit picky things to be sure as the positives far outweigh these minor issues and these things definitely don't keep Stumptown Station from joining the exclude five star club, as this place is a keeper no doubt about it!

What can't I say about Stumptown. It's like cheers, here you are family. We moved to Matthews in December 2018 from Colorado. We knew nothing or anyone here. We quickly felt welcome within the walls of Stumptown. Brandon is a master at making the most amazing old fashioned. Tell Kristen to make you anything and she will blow your socks off. Josh and now his brother are a great team to watch behind the bar . Ha. They go above and beyond and remember your name. Best craft cocktails around. We will forever love and cherish this bar.

AMAZING service. Came for the fall tasting & all the cocktails were exceptional! A very cozy vibe and the owner Brandon was so informative on all of the drinks and how they are created! Will definitely be back for more. Thank you Stumptown Station for a wonderful afternoon!

Stopped off at Stumptown Station during a pass through Charlotte and was completely wowed! The transformation that took this place from a run down dive to its current state is truly inspirational. The cocktail menu has elevated the classics to a new level. These guys actually keep it pretty simple, which is why I think they are killing it and this is a true gem. They do what they do very well instead of trying to do a bunch of stuff mediocre. The old fashioned is a must try!! Congrats guys...great spot!

They have a full bar. - the truffle fries and aioli was really good! - they left a carafe of water on our table so we could refill water glasses and didn't need to wait on them to fill up our water. The pizza and local convenience is the only reason we came here a few times. For the quality of the pizza, I still consider it a great value compared to other "social media trendy" but highly overpriced, overrated places. The environment can be nice, especially with the "night light" lamps they put on the table, music is not overwhelmingly loud or obnoxious. The white tablecloth is a nice touch. The chairs are decent. However, the wait can be very long, even if not busy. We've been here at least 4 times on various days and times (weekdays, late afternoons, early evenings, weekends, etc.) and we typically wait about 40+ minutes or so for the food to be ready. Even when there's only 2-3 other customers around, it takes about 25-30 minutes after ordering for the food to receive it. The last time we were here, it took more than 1 hour for the food to be ready. The service staff is extremely nice. However, there's still something "off" about this place and them. For example, the bar worker is expected to not only pour drinks at the bar, but also attend to non-bar restaurant guests. This is kind of weird. This place seems to give more attention and priority to bar customers and alcohol drinking "buddies" of the bar staff. The staff loves to sit and chat with their "friends" (regulars) while minimally and superficially attending to normal customers with a less sense of priority and urgency. I don't expect them to rush every single thing, but it was extremely obvious that the focus was to prioritize bar patrons over non-alcohol restaurant customers. Perhaps this is for profit reasons and if so, they should just be honest about it and separate bar staff from food waiters, like normal places do, or just simply be a bar place and not a pizza place. Also, the pizza making area is open and you can hear the workers every argument and discussion when it comes to wages, scheduling, next shift coverage, etc.. This is weird. At the price point of this pizza, I didn't think staff was being treated and paid so poorly. The vibe of the workers was just so "off", in general. The waitresses and waiters are very nice but often aloof and behave oddly. Like, is there something sketchy going on at this place? Are they on substances? Everyone is friendly but has no attention to detail, urgency or anything else. The last time we were here, it was very busy. But it took at least 1 hour to make 2 or 3 pizzas. The manager could tell we weren't happy. However, we didn't even know he was the manager as he didn't introduce himself properly but offered to comp our meal. This place gets 2 stars because of him and the delicious pizza . But if I ever come back, it'll just be order out by myself. The other person I came with absolutely hated the service and wait of this place and doesn't want to come back again.
