Decided to try VRTX this evening for new casual couple's night and was completely blown away! Loved the local feel with the hand painted art work on the walls and high top tables. Menu was diverse and made it hard to decide. We started with the dip trio and OMG!!! Could have made a meal on this! Especially the ricotta and red pepper cheese spreads! Next came the garlic portobello flatbread and jam session burger w/fries. Hubby and I couldn't stop sharing off each other's plates because it was so good! The flat bread had just a spritz of truffle oil which made it especially crave worthy and the roast garlic gave so much sweetness we couldn't stop eating it. The brown sugar bacon on the jam burger gave an instant taste of sugar with each bite but was quickly followed by the richness of the burger and crunch w/creaminess from the shallots/greens and aioli. Fries were perfectly crisp without being oily and all worked well together. Too stuffed for dessert so maybe next time. Staff was super supportive and seemed to be covering all tables so never had to wait for just one server. Everyone very friendly and definitely filled up quickly. A cool, small spot in a small community that is well worth the trip. VRTX is a burger and beer restaurant and sort of one of its kind in the area (very small area). I've been a couple of times and have always been well taken care of. They serve bar food but a little higher level than the standard bar food. Several sandwich (sammie's) options as well as flatbreads and burgers. I feel the food is a tad pricey given the location and quality of food (flatbreads typically run $18 and burgers are $17/$18). There are about 10-12 drafts on tap, mostly local breweries and a pretty good selection. There are also several coolers to choose non-tap options. All in all, it's a nice place and the only downside would be the pricing of the food. read more

Can't say enough amazing things about VRTX! A local gem all fresh scratch made food that highlights local vendors as well. From the owner Matt to the friendly staff you can tell they care about the quality and service - it shows! Love the food and beer and never in my life have I seen a soup flight! Tomato is incredible. This was my second visit to VRTX. There is a lot of good things happening at this location. The ingredients are fresh and high quality and the food is delicious. The cons-the price point is a little high in my opinion. $17 for a burger and fries is a little more than I would expect to spend. Also, charging $1 for a tiny side of ranch is not ok when the item was suggested by the waiter without disclosing the up charge. The service during both of my visits was hit or miss. Lunch today at VRTX Stallings with friends - went light (for me) because I had dinner plans Dip Trio - Whipped Feta with Roasted Red Peppers, Cucumber Bruschetta and Lemon Ricotta Dip. Served with Toasted Crostini. Have to admit my absolute favorite was the cucumber bruschetta! Really nice switch up and I happen to enjoy cucumber a lot. Artichoke Shrimp Dip (always my favorite) Mild Buffalo Wings - BBQ cured and oven fried. I always really enjoy their wings and this is my go to for them. Chimmichurri Steak Stack (sirloin roasted peppers and frta on pita) with extra sides (coleslaw which I love, broccoli salad, Mexican street corn (another favorite). The steak was sliced, thin, juicy flavorful, tender, and I love the roasted red peppers. If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure those might also be made in house. Friends got Spicy Thai Basil Wings (spicy!) and sweet potato fries (regular fries too). Really enjoyed the food - everything is made in house from scratch - and of course, the company! read more

I have been to the other location many times so I was VERY excited about this new location closer to home and it did not disappoint! They have 11 beers on tap which change out regularly and a prosecco on tap as well. They also have great weekday specials (Definitely will come back for wine deals on Wednesday!) Our waiter Brian was great! Service was quick and food came out in a reasonable time. We ordered the nacho appetizer with pork which was yummy but a bit spicy. I would get it with the hornets nest sauce on the side next time. For the meals I got the not so wedge salad. It was huge and had just the right amount of dressing, blue cheese chunks and fresh bacon! My husband got the Jam Session burger which is a spring addition to the menu. The food at this place is a hit or miss. We tried the pretzel as an appetizer. According to the waiter, they make the pretzels. It was very chewy and hard. Not soft at all! It felt like they had premade it and just warmed it up. A little disappointed because their food prices are high. read more

We ate at VRTX for the first time this evening and had a great experience. To start, the staff was super friendly. Almost every staff person came over to check on us or make recommendations at some point during our meal. We split the chicken salad sandwich and each had a bowl of their homemade tomato bisque soup. Both were delicious. For dessert we had the sticky toffee cake - which was served warm with homemade whipped cream. One of the best desserts we've had in a while. This place is just okay, not anything I would rave about or rush to come back. We sat on the patio last night- the live music was great and definitely such a good vibe. Our issue was the service, it took about 15 minutes for someone to come out to greet us and grab our drink order even though we went inside beforehand and let them know we were grabbing an outdoor table. The server on the patio was absolutely terrible and clearly couldn't handle having 4-5 tables at once. Pretty much every table was complaining about receiving wrong food orders, the timing of food coming out ( I was with one other person and our food come out almost 20 minutes apart and it was cold so we had to send it back to be reheated ) the table next to us was complaining about experiencing the same thing. This place is a great concept, and definitely very needed for the Steven's mill shopping center but the service needs a lot of work, it was a hot mess especially for a $120 tab. read more

As someone who has been here multiple times and had a great experience with most of the employees (specifically Andrew and Laurel) I was extremely disappointed in my most recent experience. VETX is a fairly new discover for us. Our first visit was about 2 months ago and now has become our every Friday place to go. The service and food are terrific. I'd call it an "upscale" bar food type menu. The chef is always coming up with new and creative dishes. Food is served as ready so nothing ever arrives cold. There's a full bar and a cooler with grab & go local craft beer, wine, and seltzers to enjoy while dining or take to go. We've always enjoyed nights on their outdoor patio. For us, the location in Stevens Mill is perfect. I highly recommend giving VRTX a try. read more

However for the price of the chicken salad, wow the serving was scant on salad heavy on lettuce. The desserts are way over priced for what you get. They are good but so small..$15 ( $10 make forthe desserts f)or a cupcake sized cake-not worth it. My wife and I tried the wings which was good wings but.... They sale by the pound not by wing. You might get anywhere between 6-12 wings. I don't like that. The beer was close to room temperature. I asked if the tubes were chilled. They insured they were but " beer is supposed to be served this temperature ." I truly don't believe that statement.
