Chicken pimento biscuit

First time here and loved it! We had the best waiter and the rest of the staff was excellent. Food was delicious and quick out of the kitchen, place is also a bottle shop which is cool. I went with the chicken pimento biscuit and it was BOMB. 5/5 for sure will Be back

This place is awesome. Cool people working here, good service, great patio, good beer selection, and the chicken nachos are epic.

Can't say enough amazing things about VRTX! A local gem all fresh scratch made food that highlights local vendors as well. From the owner Matt to the friendly staff you can tell they care about the quality and service - it shows! Love the food and beer and never in my life have I seen a soup flight! Tomato is incredible. Quiet small ambiance but homey and neighborhoody type of spot. Only criticism is a little pricey but you pay for quality so i get that in 2026 with inflation. Keep doing what you're doing!

Soup flight.

We went here for lunch yesterday and were absolutely blown away. We ordered the dip trio, the flight of soup (genius!), grilled cheese, and the portobello sandwich. Everything was spectacular! What was even better, though, was the service. Attentive, friendly and helpful. The decor was bright, minimal (thank goodness!) And welcoming. This will definitely be a go-to spot for us now!

This was my second visit to VRTX. There is a lot of good things happening at this location. The ingredients are fresh and high quality and the food is delicious. The cons-the price point is a little high in my opinion. $17 for a burger and fries is a little more than I would expect to spend. Also, charging $1 for a tiny side of ranch is not ok when the item was suggested by the waiter without disclosing the up charge. The service during both of my visits was hit or miss. Overall, I would return but doubt this will be my first pick when choosing a dining location in the area.

Lunch today at VRTX Stallings with friends - went light (for me) because I had dinner plans Dip Trio - Whipped Feta with Roasted Red Peppers, Cucumber Bruschetta and Lemon Ricotta Dip. Served with Toasted Crostini. Have to admit my absolute favorite was the cucumber bruschetta! Really nice switch up and I happen to enjoy cucumber a lot. Artichoke Shrimp Dip (always my favorite) Mild Buffalo Wings - BBQ cured and oven fried. I always really enjoy their wings and this is my go to for them. Chimmichurri Steak Stack (sirloin roasted peppers and frta on pita) with extra sides (coleslaw which I love, broccoli salad, Mexican street corn (another favorite). The steak was sliced, thin, juicy flavorful, tender, and I love the roasted red peppers. If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure those might also be made in house. Friends got Spicy Thai Basil Wings (spicy!) and sweet potato fries (regular fries too). Really enjoyed the food - everything is made in house from scratch - and of course, the company!

Not so wedge salad

I have been to the other location many times so I was VERY excited about this new location closer to home and it did not disappoint! They have 11 beers on tap which change out regularly and a prosecco on tap as well. They also have great weekday specials (Definitely will come back for wine deals on Wednesday!) Our waiter Brian was great! Service was quick and food came out in a reasonable time. We ordered the nacho appetizer with pork which was yummy but a bit spicy. I would get it with the hornets nest sauce on the side next time. For the meals I got the not so wedge salad. It was huge and had just the right amount of dressing, blue cheese chunks and fresh bacon! My husband got the Jam Session burger which is a spring addition to the menu. It was a bit undercooked but he said it was delicious anyway. The fries were so fresh hot and amazing! They have a great outdoor area and we definitely will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor eating area. The food was marvelous. Hamburgers were cooked as ordered. And the Meatball Po'Boy was delicious. Lauren, our server, was friendly and took very good care of us. We will definitely return.

Pretzels

Service was great and small plates were excellent!!!! The pretzel was one of the beat I had in the QC . The dip trio was fresh and delicious. I door and outdoor seating.

Great place to eat and get drinks! Food is top notch, actually very surprising for a random find in Stallings! Would 10/10 recommend.

The burgers had that pre cooked microwave bacon and the "famous fries" were just curly wedges you can get at any college bar. That was a whopping 6 dollars for an addition of truffle mayo and pre shredded Parmesan. The lunch menu only has burgers and tacos. If you're gunna do all this to take away from your regular dining experience you may as well not do a lunch menu at all. I started reading other reviews and apparently this place has the same menu dinner and lunch. Seems like theft to allow the previous reviews and menu to be online. Only to serve people mediocre store bought tacos and burgers.

I made a reservation for Christmas Eve a few weeks before Christmas. It was not blocked off on their calendar. I even received a text the day before confirming the reservation. When we showed up on Christmas Eve, there was a sign that said the restaurant was closed! They left a family of 6, with 2 little kids, scrambling on Christmas Eve. Now of course it is their right to close on Christmas Eve, but they should have managed their reservation system and blocked off that day. I do not recommend Portrait Gallery, and they have now lost a customer for their poor managing and service.

And as crowded as it was on our recent visit, The One may eventually have to seek out trendier, more spacious digs somewhere else in the Queen City. Until then, be prepared for a noisy ambiance, peak hour waits and tables that are a bit close for comfort. But the food and cocktails make it all worth it. The extensive menu of shareable plates offers something for every palate, from the tasty Fettucini with Roasted Duck Ragu and flavorful Braised Short Ribs to the amazing Oxtail Empanadas. Paired with a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned or a bottle of wine from their impressive selection, it adds up to a compelling culinary experience for anything from date night to an evening with friends. Service was excellent on our visit and prices were very reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Parking is free and super-easy, but reservations are highly recommended -- especially for weekend visits. My only gripe was the tightness of the space, which makes intimate conversation a bit challenging and the tables a bit crowded -- especially when you order a variety of plates. But if you can manage to visit on a quiet weeknight, The One will deliver a wonderful tapas meal that will have you planning a return visit before you pick up the check.

My son ordered a traditional boli which was large that came with a bowl of red sauce. Their red sauce is outstanding! Halfway through he asked for more red sauce and she delivered a new bowl quickly. Always a great meal with tremendous portion sizes with outstanding service. I highly recommend Mamma's! Cause you gonna like!

The pizza here is very, very delicious. One of the few…read moreplaces here where I can still get a nice thin crust pizza done right. The pizza and local convenience is the only reason we came here a few times. For the quality of the pizza, I still consider it a great value compared to other "social media trendy" but highly overpriced, overrated places. The environment can be nice, especially with the "night light" lamps they put on the table, music is not overwhelmingly loud or obnoxious. The white tablecloth is a nice touch. The chairs are decent. However, the wait can be very long, even if not busy. We've been here at least 4 times on various days and times (weekdays, late afternoons, early evenings, weekends, etc.) and we typically wait about 40+ minutes or so for the food to be ready. Even when there's only 2-3 other customers around, it takes about 25-30 minutes after ordering for the food to receive it. The last time we were here, it took more than 1 hour for the food to be ready. The service staff is extremely nice. However, there's still something "off" about this place and them. For example, the bar worker is expected to not only pour drinks at the bar, but also attend to non-bar restaurant guests. This is kind of weird. This place seems to give more attention and priority to bar customers and alcohol drinking "buddies" of the bar staff. The staff loves to sit and chat with their "friends" (regulars) while minimally and superficially attending to normal customers with a less sense of priority and urgency. I don't expect them to rush every single thing, but it was extremely obvious that the focus was to prioritize bar patrons over non-alcohol restaurant customers. Perhaps this is for profit reasons and if so, they should just be honest about it and separate bar staff from food waiters, like normal places do, or just simply be a bar place and not a pizza place. Also, the pizza making area is open and you can hear the workers every argument and discussion when it comes to wages, scheduling, next shift coverage, etc.. This is weird. At the price point of this pizza, I didn't think staff was being treated and paid so poorly. The vibe of the workers was just so "off", in general. The waitresses and waiters are very nice but often aloof and behave oddly. Like, is there something sketchy going on at this place? Are they on substances? Everyone is friendly but has no attention to detail, urgency or anything else. The last time we were here, it was very busy. But it took at least 1 hour to make 2 or 3 pizzas. The manager could tell we weren't happy. However, we didn't even know he was the manager as he didn't introduce himself properly but offered to comp our meal. This place gets 2 stars because of him and the delicious pizza . But if I ever come back, it'll just be order out by myself. The other person I came with absolutely hated the service and wait of this place and doesn't want to come back again.
