I am going to preface this review by saying that I don't take "bests" lightly, but this was the best italian restaraunt I've been to. Our server was excellent, polite, yet quick, the food was delicious, my companions attested that it was the best food they've had in their life, and best of all I didn't have to wear a suit! One of my party members required gluten free meals and she was very pleased with the quality of the gluten free bread and pasta, saying it was the best gluten free pasta she's had. The rest of my party was very satisfied with their food. Two of my companions and I quite literally cleaned the plate of calamari. I ordered the pappardelle bolognese which was really good, the noodles had a great taste and the flavor of the bolognese was not too acidic. Hands down the best place to eat in Hershey! I frequent this restaurant when I'm in town for appointments and it never disappoints. The food on the pizza shop side is always hot, fresh, and served by friendly employees. The subs are made with homemade bread, the wraps are packed with deliciousness, and you can't go wrong with pizza. I was fortunate to have reservations for Mothers Day dinner. My husband and I shared the meatball appetizer and both ordered the Italian Sampler. My kid was able to get his usual cheese pizza :) The meatballs were savory in red sauce and came with garlic bread. The entree had a generous portion of chicken parm, fettuccine alfredo, and lasagna. The bread was fresh and warm. Absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and polite. I have nothing but great things to say. My only regret is not eating at the restaurant side sooner. Fam went to Hershey Lodge for a few days and instead of the Lodge food, we decided to go off the usual and find something good. I yelped restaurants in the area and found this gem! The hostess and waitress were extremely nice and the food was very good too! What's nice is if you're in the mood for the regular pizza joint fair, there is a side of the restaurant for that. My family and I opted for the sit down dining area and we got a great booth in the corner. Chicken parm, calamari, and pizza for the kids was all great and we will be back the next time we are in town! read more

Since our usual pizza place is closed on Monday, we decided to give Piazza Sorrento a try. Not bad!! Masks are required to enter. We ordered at the take out counter instead of eating inside. We got a large half sausage/green pepper, half cheese pizza and a sub to share. The pizza was huge. Nice crust, and I love how they slice their pizza into smaller pieces instead of large slices. I did get the Sorrento sub special, which was described as an Italian sub plus the kitchen sink - every vegetable on it. Since I love veggies, I went for it but I was disappointed that the only veggies were lettuce, onion, tomato (standard), banana peppers and mushrooms. I was expecting cucumbers or fresh spinach but it was still a decent sub for $10. If we visit again, I'll try a different sub but the pizza was excellent. read more

Service was great at the beginning but our waitress never checked on us throughout the entire meal. Lots of gluten free options. The margarita pizza only has tomato slices no sauce and was dry but the crust had a good flavor. Tried to get some sauce to add but our waitress never came back. Had dinner on a Wednesday night here. Saw it on Yelp and was convinced to try it. Walked in and the first thought is this is a bar that offers food to keep its liquor license . Sat down and got the feeling that most patrons were locals ( like ate there often/ weekly?). Menu looked promising but expensive ( based on atmosphere/ feel). Food came and honestly it was pretty tasteless, very disappointed. Waitress became friendly/ engaging after we tried to get some interaction but wouldn't call the service memorable, although not BAD. During a two-week training exercise at a nearby PA military installation, two colleagues and I decided to branch out and see the storied city of Hershey! While there we decided to get some Italian food and thanks to a quick Google search, we stumbled upon this classy locale. The restaurant is a rustic brick building located next to an upscale strip mall and is visible from the street. Upon walking in we were promptly seated and provided menus. The interior is intimate with a low-lit ambiance perfect for dates or special occasions. Our server was terrific and discussed the specials. The menu consists of classic Italian fare spanning seafood, pasta, pizza, steak, chicken, veal, salads, and sinful desserts. Complementary hot rolls were brought out and they were fabulous! After careful deliberation, I opted for the Linguini with Spicy Crab, a ceasar salad, and a glass of chianti. My friend got the Italian Sampler (lasagna, chicken parmasan, and fettucini alfredo) while my other friend ordered the Chicken Marsala. For an appetizer we shared a plate of baked crab dip, which was a spectacular preview of what was to come. The crab linguini was delectable while the ceasar salad perfectly complemented the main course. For dessert we shared a slice of Panna Cota and I had an espresso. As a whole, this was one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever dined at. I would highly recommend a visit if you ever find yourself near Hershey. read more

The food was really good- especially the fettuccine . Who doesn't love fresh made pasta? The bread served to the table was next level. We ordered the fried calamari and bruschetta- both great. The kids both had spaghetti and meatballs from the kids menu. They enjoyed. Too full for dessert. Our only complaint was that we were sat in an outside area (kind of like a 3-season porch) from the dining room and it was quite chilly. I couldn't take my jacket off the entire time (early November). I'm not one to make waves so I dealt with it. The lights were flickering over us the whole time as well. When my husband mentioned it to the waiter he said something about a dimmer switch not working properly. We made "light" of the situation and joked around about it. We saw empty tables inside but I'm assuming we were placed away from everything is because we had 2 kids with us or maybe because we were perceived as out of towners? Not sure but our waiter was super nice and the food was the best we have had since we started taking our biannual trips to Hershey. We will definitely try again when we come in the spring. I usually enjoy piazza Sorrento but lately the prices have become insane. I have enjoyed getting salads here for lunches but don't think it's worth it. I bought a salad for ~$8 and it is so much smaller than it has been in the past. The salad came in a small container and was barely 3/4 full. Hello I am a semi frequent customer and my mother (91 years old) came in today by herself to get some food and was greeted by Colton O. She told me how polite he was by not making her get up to order and get her food, even offering her extra water since hers ran out. She has portable oxygen due to a medical condition and she mentioned how Colton insisted to help her to her car since her hands were full with her purse and oxygen, not only did he get her food and carry her oxygen for her, he opened each and every door for her and even her car doors like a nice young gentleman. She mentioned that he even took time to stand out in the cold and talk with her just about life and she was surprised to hear that he was only 17 years old. This gesture made her night it is the only thing she talked about all night. I want to say how good this customer service is, people may judge those teens behind the counters but they know how to make peoples days. We will be back to get food soon snd so should you! read more

The service was pleasant considering they were packed. All the staff seemed friendly. I had the pear and apple salad, Woodsman pizza, Calamari, and Chicken parm. The flavor of the chicken in the parm was the highlight. The calamari was also as expected. The pizza was sad. The salad felt a little bland... The dinner rolls were also nice, but they served them with butter. I like butter, but are we at an Italian restaurant. I have been coming to this place for years! Living in Harrisburg, I do not make it out to Hershey to dine out too often, but I found this place years ago when a celiac group wrote about it. My review is based on their gluten-free options, which are many. I eat here once to twice a year and I tend to get the Italian sub every single time. The sub bun is too die for and you would not know if was GF. For my photo, of course I put a picture of the sub (minus a few bites). This place is very local and very family-oriented. The staff are as nice and as accommodating as can be. My mom is also GF and when the family is visiting, she always asks about coming "to that Italian place in Hershey." During our recent visit to the Hershey area for a family vacation, we found and stopped by Piazza Sorrento for a quick lunch. Because it's attached to a minimart, we probably would have never stopped here driving by, but we found it on Yelp with good reviews before we actually saw it. Once there, it's surprisingly attractive from the outside, despite being attached to the Turkey Hill minimart. Inside, it's even nicer. When you walk in, it's a little confusing. You walk into a room with a host stand and bar. We waited at the host stand and were asked if we wanted the full-service restaurant or the quick pizza/sandwich place. We just wanted the quicker version, so we were pointed to the entryway on the left at the back of the room toward the kitchen. It would have taken some time to figure that out on our own without any signage. Once we passed through the entryway -- BOOM! -- there was the counter to order soups, sandwiches, salads, and pizza. You couldn't read the full menu (and it's a BIG one) unless you were standing right in front of the counter, so we did (all 9 of us), taking up a lot of space. Perhaps some advance menus for newbies would be appropriate? Our party of 9 ordered and paid in two separate groups. I paid for my part of the group and there was a place for gratuity on the receipt. First, I don't like leaving a tip in advance of service. Second, I don't like leaving a tip for non-full-service dining experiences unless someone's going to go out of their way to do something exceptional for us. Nevertheless, I left a decent gratuity on the receipt before anyone even had the chance to "service" us. In the dining room, we put two tables together that were side by side for our group. Most tables were dirty in the dining area, including these, so someone in our party asked back at the counter for something to clean the tables with ourselves. One of the employees said they'd be right out. Well, they never came. So we went out to the bar area and found a bar rag which, when we tried to use it, reeked. Seeing us do this, FINALLY someone came out with a spray bottle and clean rag to wipe down our tables and other tables in the lobby. It wasn't *that* busy where someone couldn't have come out and cleaned this tables regularly. Hello, management? As our orders were ready, they called our names from the counter to pick up our food. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich/Sub with blue cheese. It was truly amazing. While the filling was delicious and jam-packed, the bread was exceptional, too. It definitely wasn't from a typical pack of sub rolls. It was like cut French bread. The teenage boys ordered the meatball parm sandwiches (their third this trip) and said it was the best one yet. At the end of our meal, when we had to bring our dishes up to the dirty dish bin and garbage can, that's when I felt totally gypped on the gratuity I left and wondered why I left it. I had to clean my own table, pick up my own food, and then dispose of my own dishes and garbage. What did the employees do for me besides write down my order and take my money? In summary, the casual dining side of Piazza Sorrento was fantastic food-wise. I highly recommend it and would return if in the area again. I just wouldn't leave gratuity when I received zero service in return (hence the four-star review instead of five). read more

Had an early (5:30 pm) dinner here before an event at the Giant Arena. Luckily had a reservation even for an early dinner as the place was crowded and had a wait for those without reservations. We had the fried ravioli appetizer. The ravioli was covered in a cheese sauce that didn't appeal to us. The ravioli minus the cheese was ok. We ordered a 10" personal pizza, the arugula and prosciutto with pecorino cheese. Pretty good, maybe a touch heavy on olive oil. Another entree was spicy sausages (mild avail too) over penne. I liked this dish. The sausage was spicy and the red sauce was really tasty. This came with a cup of Italian wedding soup....piping hot and full of goodness. The bread on the table with olive oil for dipping is good. It's a lot of food. The restaurant is organized and gluten free is an option (they ask frequently). read more

We have traditionally enjoyed both the food and the ambience at this restaurant, but on our most recent visit, despite having made a reservation for the restaurant, we guided to the pizza shop side. I corrected the hostess and informed her that our reservation was for the restaurant, not the pizza shop. She replied "this is the restaurant,on the weekends." Keep in mind that nothing but a sliding divider separated us from the foot traffic of the pizza shop and it was Thursday, not the weekend. We were a little hesitant pulling into the parking lot and saw the restaurant was attached to a gas station, but left 100% satisfied! Our son is gluten-free and from the start things looked good when they handed us a FULL gluten-free menu filled with dozens of options. We have dined at Piazza Sorrento twice in the past several months and both times were very impressed with the service, variety, and quality of food. While the restaurant is located in a strip mall behind a gas station, upon entering you feel like you have been transported to a different place. The interior is spotless, warm, and the décor conveys the environment of fine dining establishment. Fresh pasta, homemade sausage, and tasty sauces are a few of the special touches offered. We've sampled several of their appetizers (dips and calamari) both very good. The warm bread service is prompt with each visit. We have sampled their lasagna and chicken parm, both of which were delicious. One entrée that really stood out was the grilled gnocchi! YUM! Cooked gnocchi, briefly grilled, and then topped with a lite spinach cream sauce was awesome. Good fresh Italian food and homemade pasta is often difficult to find around the area, but Piazza Sorrento definitely meets this expectation. read more
