The beer was cheap, the onion rings were nice, the service was good, but the pit beef was awful. Dry, well done, and tastes like charcoal. The bartender to her credit took it back when I said something, but the replacement was just as bad. I love the Parkside and never had a bad meal or experience but today was unacceptable. It was not very busy and all the bartenders were standing in a huddle and laughing and carrying on like they were the only ones in the restaurant. My head hurt from their loud talking and singing. The bartenders/waitresses were carrying on so loudly that I got a headache and lost my appetite. We walked out before eating because the environment was that unpleasant. I was giving them time to make it right. And clearly they did not. First time ordering from them. Literally told the girl on the phone. Had a long conversation very informative. I went with the pit beef. I got chips, fries, au jus, horsey sauce, and bbq. Pretty simple order - you would think! I got the pit beef, fries and horsey sauce that's it. Called back and the lady was not apologetic. She took my name and number - told me the manager will be calling me to make it right. You guessed it - no communication whatsoever.... For that you get a one star. The pit beef - yes good flavor but extremely tough to eat. You can tell they did not cook it long enough. Way too tough. After hearing rave reviews about the wings at Parkside Hotel, my friends and I had to visit. Two of us got bone-in wings with Parkside sauce, one got a burger, and the other got garlic parm boneless wings. The traditional wings were good--large in size, cooked nicely, and sauced well. My friend who had the burger liked it and the fries, too. However, the boneless wings were fried too hard and the garlic parm sauce was lackluster. We wouldn't get these again. The establishment itself is quite small, with only a few tables and a bar inside. The service was quick and the servers were nice. Onion rings and bread saved this from being a 3. Table got the Susie's favorite - pit beef sandwich - the beef was scorched. However the onion rings were excellent - great flavor and the bread for the sandwich was just right. The wings were mediocre at best. We also ordered onion rings, that were very good and a pitcher of Yuengling Lager. Now this is a Funck Group which own about 14 restaurants in the surrounding area. When you look up any of their Restaurants, no prices are ever shown. Anyway, when we got our bill we were told we have 'points' that we have accumulated from going to another of their restaurants. I believe it was $27.00 off. We used the points towards our bill. Even after our points, were deducted, our bill total, with tip, came to $52.00. What??? So, if we hadn't used the points, our bill would have been almost $80 for mediocre food? Never again!!!!! read more

My experience here wasn't ideal. It wasn't horrible, either. My husband loved his food. Mine.... Just wasn't what I asked for. I specifically asked if they had REGULAR WHITE SANDWICH bread before I ordered my BLT. I was told they did. It was brought to me on a hamburger bun. The bacon was soooo chewy... it felt like I was eating rubber (I asked for extra crispy...even deep fried if possible.) We chose to eat outside on the patio because it was a nice night and the music was extremely loud inside the restaurant. Eating outside didn't work out so well, tho. Between the music (via speakers) and the people sitting next to us talking over the music.... We couldn't even hold a conversation between ourselves. On the bright side --- the waitress (who seemed to be the only one for both inside & outside knocked it out of the park! She was phenomenal and on her A game, for sure! We could see the restaurant/hotel from the water park and I saw them smoking meats in the parking lot. I said, let's try it when we leave. It was amazing. The nicest people and the food was great. We has the philly eggrolls which my picky kids loved. Some chicken quesadillas (we live in SoCal so we're used to decent quesadillas) which were huge and some came home with us. I got the surf and turf burger because it sounded interesting and it was fantastic. Enough fries came with it to give all 4 of us some. Service was on it (I down some ice T after being at the park all day) and friendly. So good we literally bought tshirts. For the money, service and food, can't be beat. read more

I loved this place. It looks kind divey, but the food, service and beers are winning! The decor is perfect for what it is. It's a little dated, but it's a family friendly biker bar, so I don't mind a wobbly table. They have the best suicide wings in the entire Harrisburg area. I just hope they don't change a thing after selling to Funks! Please, don't change a thing, especially the suicide wing sauce, whatever you do! I love this place! Only reason it doesn't get 5 Stars is I reserve those for 1 of a kind places...top of the top...but this place is great and I love everything I've ever had here. We always get the piggy fries with hot sauce..so good! The pit roasted beef is amazing, smoked on property and done well. This place has been around a long time and is better now than ever. I have been waiting years and years to be able to eat here. Finally found a day when the stars aligned. I was in Hershey, over lunch, and I actually found a parking spot in the small lot. This is a bar (the bar in right in the middle of the room) but the food is more than bar food. My daughter and I split a pit beef sandwich and some wings. The pit beef was just as good as what you in the Bal'mer. The only complaint was the size for the price. The wings were great. Meaty and the Parkside house sauce was really good. Fries were also good. Hubby got the burger and it was also good. Lots of beer options from cheap stuff to trendy things in the big fridges. The beer specials will allow you to drink without breaking the bank. Service was good. TVs were playing sports. Relaxed atmosphere. We sat indoors but there are also a few spots on the porch. Despite being a bar, nobody smoked inside so it was a nice experience. Definitely a place I plan to visit again. If you've never had a Baltimore style smoked pit beef sandwich, you need to go here and try one. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you order the Au Jus (even if you get BBQ or horseradish) because dipping makes it better. read more

I used to love the black and bleu burger. Tonight I got it and there was so much seasoning on the burger I couldn't taste the meat, the bacon, the bleu cheese.. nothing. The burger was cooked perfectly but it was so over seasoned I couldn't eat it (and I love spicy and seasoning.) my daughter got chicken tenders (adult portion) and two were burnt. They were all dark, which is fine... we are weird and like dry chicken but these were burnt. My boyfriend got "extra crispy" wings. They were rubber. The food used to be so good here and this is my first time eating there since funck's took over and I won't be back. I gave two stars cause my burger was cooked a perfect medium. Parkside is good, honest eating. Nothing fancy. Decent drafts (thank you Tröegs Perpetual, a great go-to beer), good poppers, chili, rings and fries. Great pit beef, pork and brisket sandwiches served in a bar, no ifs, ands or buts. Smokers are on "the deck," or the porch as they call it there. Service is casual but polite, friendly and efficient. Recommend checking it out in the off season, but not on a night when there's a concert in town. read more

We discovered this little place several years ago after visiting Hershey's Chocolate World. They had a sign out front for steamed clams for a song so we jumped at it. We've been fans ever since. It's a very casual bar with very good food. During the warmer weather it's nice to sit out on the porch and watch the traffic go by while eating. Just beside Hershey Park, this seems like a place only the locals visit that has a great menu all for a very fair price from appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, to full entrees.. My partner had her usual - steamed clams, which she loved for just $3.95 a dozen. Last time I had the reuben, but this time I tried the Parkside wings, which have an unusual sauce - bbq and mayo with a bit of a kick. Sounds strange, but it works. Very generous sized wings too and 12 of them for only $7.99. We also split the fried mushrooms for 4.50. Another very generous portion. We had a long drive ahead of us, just stopping in Hershey to dine here, so just had Diet Coke and it was blended perfectly!! Not too much syrup and not too much fizz. I'm a fan of their's on Facebook and when I see their daily specials I wish I didn't live four states away, but whenever I'm near Hersey I'll make a special trip. Sue, or maybe it was Katherine, is a sweetheart and seems to run the place. She kidded around with us frequently and made us feel at home with the rest of the regulars. I don't know where the "hotel" fits in here, cos all I've seen is the bar/grill, but this last time I did notice a sign when going to the restroom in the hallway that said "tenants" upstairs, so it appears it's that too! read more

Great spot for a refresher after outlet shopping. This cute spot is in between Hershey park and Hershey. They have a small patio that's perfect for happy hour, 2-4 pm. The draft beers are really inexpensive, so it's Always HH here. I didn't stay for food, but the menu looked good. If I could rate zero I would. Waited 30 Min to get a seat...there is no hostess so it's first come first serve. Had two utter jerks take tables from us twice so we left kinda hoping they choke on the food, which looked and smelled pretty good. They should get a better system but it's obvious that it's a local dive kinda place and they stay busy so don't care. I've read many Yelp reviews about the Parkside, also been passing this place for over a decade always wanting to try it out. So, i see alot of negative and positive comments. Here is what I discovered last Saturday March 12th.... Found an easy spot to park, apparently a wrestling tournament was over and the bartended explained we came at a good time because it was busy earlier. Second time going to this place specifically for wings. Service is very 'no-nonsence' and to the point. Pricing of the products is good to excellent. Make sure you look for beer specials. This evening they had $2.50 Shocktop but I didn't notice until after I ordered an other beer. My order today was the Asian sauce wings, as I always lean towards the teriyaki, Thai spice kind of flavoring, though these were again different from the other Asian flavors. Very tasty! Parkside used to have the best pit beef sandwich in the area. Recent visit proved to be lackluster. The pit beef was dry and the fresh cut fries have been replaced with frozen out of a bag fries. Apparently the place has been sold to a local conglomerate who uses mostly frozen foods in their kitchens. Oh well. Stopped in around 7 on a Friday night. Parking is on side and behind building but not a lot of it. Husband had their special - beef tips over egg noodles. It was fabulous. Meat was so so tender. I had chicken finger basket. They were the biggest chicken fingers i ever saw and got 4 of them. They were great. Their honey mustard and barbecue sauce was so good. Got fresh cut fries with it and gravy on side. Food was piping hot, gravy tasted homemade. Will definitely be back! read more

Well how disappointing that this place sold out to a local 'grabbing up' all the restaurants we can in the area company. The food has gone from one of the best little dive bar places to eat for as long as I have lived here (50 years) to just another so so place. Used to have fresh cut fries (amazing) - not now, just the same Sysco product as everyone else. Wings were grease ridden and not cooked well. I am so sad this place has changed hands. read more
