Moved out here from CA and have been searching for a go-to Italian place, so on recommendation and positive reviews tried this place and was not disappointed. Upon entry the dining room was clean, bright and welcoming, huge plus! The male server did a great job and was very attentive to our needs. We tried the TRIO, spaghetti w/meatballs (husband's favorite anywhere) and were impressed with the freshness and flavors of our entrees, as well as the appetizers -calamari and crab- stuffed mushrooms- and fresh rolls they served with our salads. EVERYTHING was delicious and well-prepared! Overall we were very happy with the pleasant dining experience and knew we found our new go-to Italian place... Upon my second return with my daughter, being excited to share this place with her, there were inconsistencies from my first experience relating to service. The female server fell short of expectations and showed very little interest with our satisfaction and dining experience. However, before leaving the restaurant we were unexpectedly approached by the owner and after learning of our disappointment, was very apologetic and went above and beyond to accommodate us and made everything right. I was so pleased and impressed with his genuineness to leave us satisfied, as it has become less common from many establishments where customer satisfaction with service is not the focus. This place receives my highest recommendation and will continue to be our favored go-to Italian restaurant!! read more

We ate here several years ago, and it was very good.. We were greeted, quickly and our server was very nice. They were not busy, with only one other table in the restaurant during lunch. It was clean, but very cold with even the hostess wearing a jacket, We ordered chicken Parm for lunch ($16 for the lunch portion and an extra charge if you would like salad). We also ordered a Caprese sandwich with soup. The soup arrived quickly but our main lunch was delayed. The server apologized saying there was an issue with the cook. Everything looked good, but the spaghetti was lukewarm, and the Caprese sandwich was tasteless with tomatoes that were like mush. The chicken parm was hot so it was odd that the spaghetti was not. We didn't see our waitress for a while so we shared the chicken Parm and just put the sandwich on the side. Even though there was one bite missing from the entire sandwich, the server asked if we wanted to take it to go. Overall, the meal was a disappointment, and we won't be returning. First time for me visiting this restaurant, though I've driven past many times. I came for lunch. Was greeted promptly and seated. Everything seemed clean and neat, with a mix of some background music playing. Since it was noontime, the large windows let in a lot of light. It only took a couple of minutes for someone to get my drink order. I figured pizza was in the name, so I ordered the Pizza Americana (pepperoni and sausage) and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Salad came and a saucer of oil and seasonings and soft rolls accompanied it. Salad was very basic- lettuce, 2 slices of cucumber, one cherry tomato, one red onion ring, and half dozen croutons. Dressing was fairly good. The oil for dipping the bread was heavy on the garlic. The pizza came out very quickly, and smelled and looked great. Crust was nice and crisp. Sausage was tasty. Although I ordered the small, it really could serve two, especially if you had the salad and a roll. Overall it was a pleasant experience here. I'd definitely stop here again. I would recommend that the management have someone clean the ventilation ducts though. They appear to have a lot of residue on them which is a little off putting. read more

My son and I stopped here on our way back from Rehoboth Beach and I'm so glad we did! He ordered the kids pizza and when I asked him how it was he said, "Shh, I'm just going to sit here and make love to my pizza." (Don't be gross, he's a child). I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo and it's the best one I've had since Little Italy in Baltimore. So delicious. Very interesting place. It's a large space; has an expansive bar area which spoke to me over the various dining rooms. The bar is decorated so that it feels like a "giardino all'italinana". Got excellent service from barkeep Jennifer. Ecco Domani merlot is lovely. Since it was a Wednesday, got 50% off the bottle. Loved that. Piazza Mia has a fair amount of wine on hand, and a lot of it is Italian, of course. Crab-stuffed mushrooms are above average, not soggy, and flavored lightly so that the crab shines through. Small pizzas are reasonably priced and respectable. Chocolate lava cake with ice cream is yummy. As other yelpers have noted, this is a unique spot. Usually I am very happy to stop at this restaurant. Usually the wait staff is very good and attentive. I guess today at 11:20 they were having an off day. They wanted to sit us next to a bunch of women that was loud. I said this big restaurant and you want everyone to sit next to each other. I want to enjoy my lunch not listen to a bunch of women talking crap. The 2 waitresses copped and attitude. So we told her we can go somewhere else that's fine. We stated walking out to the front and she said "well where do you want to sit" not a happy person. So we sat at a 2 topper where we usually sit. That wasn't so good. The ambiance of the restaurant is clearly felt when you first enter the restaurant. It's very clean, seating is situated so that you are not crowded. The hostess station lacks in the process of welcoming guests. After being seated, the waiting staff is very pleasant and attentive. The food that is served is the downside. You would expect the food to be excellent. Don't get overly excited. It's not the worst, and definitely, it isn't the best. We ate half of our food and asked a to go box and the waitress pushed us into mixing our food into one box and we asked for another box and wouldn't budge until we asked 3 more times. Very weird. Making a stop in Maryland and felt like Italian. Looked up reviews and decided on Piazza Mia. Very good choice. I tried the Trio which has lasagna, fettucine alfredo, and chicken parm. Fettucine great, lasagna and chicken parm good. I would suggest not pounding down the chicken as thin as they do. I had the house salad with a great ranch dressing. My wife had the Bianco white pie which she adored along with a nice Caesar salad. Good bread to start it off. One of the owners came by and we swapped stories about Brooklyn. First time trying this place and wish I had sooner. Very pleasant surprise. Ordered two pizzas and my daughter had the seafood pasta. A basket of warm rolls started the meal with olive oil mix to dunk in. My wife and I had soup which was homemade and very good. She had the minestrone and I had the pasta fagiole with sausage. My pizza was sausage and pepperoni and my wife got the white pizza. The crust on the pizzas really stood out and I thought they were excellent. Our server was very friendly. Returned a week later. I stuck with the Americana pizza. Wife got spaghetti and meatballs and daughter got rigatoni with marinara sauce. I had to try the meatball for "evaluation purposes " and it was excellent. Our neighbors have been raving about the braised short ribs here for as long as we've known them. We finally went to the restaurant with them and can now agree, this is an excellent meal. My mother ordered the short ribs, and I stuck to the tried and true shrimp carbonara. Her only substitution was to switch the risotto for spinach, resulting in a much lower carb count for her meal. There was no helping the carb count for me, massive amounts of linguine under heavy cream sauce was well worth the extra pound or two. This place is not in every day sort of meal, especially in Camden Delaware. The prices are slightly higher, the quality is slightly better, and in general the dining room is nicer than other places around here. It's a great spot to go with your neighbors and catch up. It's a good spot to go when you need to remember how nice it is to sit at a table with friends and share an excellent meal. read more

Service was horrible. Total lack of serving customers. Staff was to busy on cell phones. Took 15 minutes for my husband to get a beer after I had my drink. We were seated at the bar so it wasn't like we were on the other side of the restaurant. Bartender did nothing but complain the next bartender was late and proceeded to talk on her cell phone about it. This place is fabulous, BEST restaurant in Dover. FOOD: Honey Glazed Salmon: GOOD-Fabulous: Good the first and my left-overs were even better the second time after reheating it up. Only thing, I didn't taste much honey flavor. The fish was fresh, large portion, and very worth it. Tortellini Della Nonna: FABULOUS, My go-to dish. I always order it without peas and it's full of flavor, with rich sauce. Lasagna: FABULOUS, So good. I like ricotta, which is a personal choice. There isn't much but even without, it is so good. Very hearty and filling SERVICE: Always on point. Most memorable was the very tall, built, gentlemen that helped us after my sister's graduation. He was also a bartender. We had a very large party and he was phenomenal. He was personable, and really good at his job. He joked on my sister about becoming an adult after graduating which we all found amusing. In all, every time I've been here our servers have always been friendly. VENUE: Classy, tasteful, great for a nice date or a family get together. It's got a Italian/Tuscan decor vibe with warm colors on the walls and a fountain in the center of the room. Also, large windows with one in the ceiling and an open kitchen on one side. Thumbs up. I went with friends for dinner. When you first walk in the door you are greeted by a person who seated us. Once at our table, our waitress Kim was quick and efficient. She got our drink order and gave us a few minutes to talk and figure out what we wanted. The food came quickly and was delicious. I ordered the chicken parm. It was very delicious!!! The chicken was fresh and moist, there was plenty of cheese and sauce. My only complaint was I was not offered fresh parmigiana cheese to sprinkle on my food. It was my wife's 40th birthday and I really wanted everything to be special. Not only did they provide the perfect accommodations, but another friend was able to call them and arrange for a bottle of champagne to be waiting at our booth. They do a good job at Piazza Mia. I was really impressed seeing the Trevi fountain on the walls and the fountain sculpture in the center floor. It looks like... well, a piazza. I have to admit such elevated dining is a treasure in these parts. The food? Well, I grew up on Italian wedding soup so I'm a tough critic. It was good but it needed more salt. Just sayin.'The bread is outstanding and so is the garlic dipping oil. You can tell they make their bread in house. The buffalo chicken salad was meh. Mostly iceberg lettuce. The buffalo sauce was tangy but the whole salad didn't come together with enough bleu cheese flavor. The pizza is good though not 5-star worthy. The service is outstanding.
