We always loved Trevi, easy trip from middletown. Anyhow, my wife wanted an antipasta, chopped, usually no problem. My wife checked the ingredients because she has digestive issues, it's alright. Waitress brought the antipasta, was not chopped and it was a good thing because there was ingredients she could not eat, ie RAW brocolli, deep fried eggplant. If she eats anything fried it's not a good ending! Who puts this sh*t in a antipasta? Got the chef to come talk to us which was a waste of time because he was not one bit apologetic. Furthermore, the pricing is reasonable and fair when compared with others in the area. Portions are always large, and plenty to take home. Having dined here numerous times in the past, we can confidently say that all dishes are flavorfully prepared, and well presented. The dining area is well decorated in a Italian Villa theme. I'm not sure because it's a Friday or maybe someone new is reading online orders and baking pizza. I ordered a large pepperoni and onion pizza, well done with extra sauce...a normal order for us. I also ordered the Parmesan garlic wings. What we got was a pizza that was deformed, hardly any carmalized onions and cold. The wings were normal hot wings and nowhere near the Parmesan garlic wings. We love this place, but, tonight's order was a diasater. This is a post-post review. I had the chicken caprese panini. I had this idea what a panini is but OMG Trevi did the thing with this sandwich. It's soft garlic bread toasted with the flavors coming together in every bite. This is my new drug! Love this spot highly recommend trying it out. Service is always excellent. Food from Trevi arrived hot and we ordered 6 trays of hot food: Chicken Parmigiana, Penne a la vodka, eggplant rolitini, chicken romano, calamari, and shrimp Fra Diavolo. We moved to the area from NJ over the summer & started checking out the local eateries. I got take out. I ordered the Antipasto Salad & the Mozzarella en Carozza. Both looked good and the portion size was large. The latter had much potential but it tasted like it was fried in old oil. The salad was fresh. I was very put off by the dated decor. It didn't look like it was a sanitary place to dine in. The staff serviced me through an opening that was part of the kitchen. They were busy and there was a lot of hustling to get dishes prepared. There was a small room off to the right when you walk in that was being used for a small gathering of maybe 12 people. It's also a storage room for supplies. I found that off putting for a party. To the left of the hallway was a pizza counter (and oven?) that is also just storage. Not attractive. I peered into the dining area and saw the tacky decor and the huge fountain in the center. It was just a turn off for me but I guess the long time locals don't mind it. I have wanted to try others dishes but the latest reviews have mirrored what I believe to be the truth. That much of the food is not so fresh and more frozen is used. Maybe past it's expiration date in some cases. We are still in a pandemic with staff and ingredient availability compromised so it could be part of the issues here. If it's not, then perhaps the owners need a refresh in many aspects. You'd think with all the transplanted people from neighboring states like NJ that expectations would be higher. So far I haven't found much that has impressed me. Should I find that things are improving here I will give it another go. read more

The outside of the restaurant was clean, and decorated perfectly and authentically, just beautiful! Entering, you're greeted by a cozy waiting area with a fireplace, couch, and a small pizzeria for kids to play in while you wait. We didn't have any wait whatsoever as we were greeted by a hostess promptly. I will say, if we ever did have to wait, it actually looks enjoyable! From the cozy Italian Nona waiting area, we were seated with homemade bread and seasoned oil. Very good! The hostess took our drink order and brought it back immediately with a high chair for our two year old. When we were seated it felt like we were in the streets of Italy! Their decor is amazing! We had the chicken tenders and fries for the kids, chicken parm, and the seafood combo. The kids meal was a hand pounded and breaded perfectly seasoned chicken breast, with hand cut fresh fries, over the top perfect. The chicken parm was amazing, as was the seafood combo! The lovely Italian courtyard themed layout and decor of this restaurant, albeit somewhat reminiscent of a borderline yet enjoyably cheesy casino, was unfortunately the best aspect of my experience. To start, we ordered raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, snapper turtle soup, and clam bisque. The raw oysters were fine - nothing special but seemingly fresh. The shrimp cocktail however, was dissapointing, as the shrimps were very tough and had an unpleasant texture. The turtle soup had a decent flavor, however having never tried turtle soup before, I didn't have much to compare it to. They used a beef broth, and the turtle tasted like beef itself, perhaps with a slightly chewier consistency. No complaints there, I enjoyed the flavor, I found it comforting. The clam bisque however had an odd flavor. It was overly sweet, and had a fair amount of shell bits. Unexpected shell bits are never pleasant, take that from someone who cracked a tooth that way. For the entrees, we ordered the shrimp and crab ravioli, chicken saltimbocca, and veal saltimbocca. Unfortunately, no one was happy with their meals. When the shrimp and crab ravioli was placed on the table, I immediately felt a mild hesitation. The presentation was messy, with lumpy sauce, and seasoning spritzed carelessly around the edges of the plate. This always concerns me, as it's a dated practice normally performed by inexperienced or outmoded chefs. That being said, I'm not (usually) a snob when it comes to presentation, and if the food is delicious, ultimately that's all that matters. Sadly, that was not the case. The shrimps on my plate were very tough, and tasted as though they were frozen prior to being over-cooked. You dont normally expect this from a restaurant that seems to specialize in seafood. Similarly unpleasant in texture, my ravioli was tough as well, and also tasted as though it had been previously frozen. The flavor was quite terrible, something I hardly ever say. It was as if they stuffed their ravioli with leftover crab cake, with an overly fishy taste. I cut open the ravioli to take a look, and it was mush. There was no identifiable crab meat, and for some reason it was slightly brownish in color - with bits of undercooked vidalia onion, indicating to me the filling really had been left over crab cakes filled with mayo and breadcrumbs and other things that don't belong in ravioli. Even the lumpy blush sauce it came in was unpleasant, tasting unfortunately similar to the jarred sauce I buy in the store - but twice as salty. Both the veal and chicken saltimbocca were also not particularly good - although I felt the flavor was nice, the meats were kind of tough, slightly over-cooked, and the sauce was so salty I ended up chugging my water immediately after. I will say, our waitress was friendly and very efficient, and we never had to wait long for anything. The entire staff was very friendly, and greeted us with smiles and warmth. Given the pleasant staff and beautiful theme, I would have really hoped to at least somewhat like the food. Sadly, we were all very unhappy, and despite the lack of dining choices in the area, we will not be returning. read more

The slew of poor reviews for Trevi is a bit unfortunate. I love the cheesy Italian decor--is you can't go to Rome, at least there's a replica in this quaint, unique Italian restaurant! I personally love the ambiance and service here. Very friendly and it's Smyrna where everyone knows one another. I could not stop eating the fresh baked bread they brought to the table. So much so, we had two bread baskets! The butter is to die for. The entrees come with soup or salad and I tried the snapping turtle soup for the first time. It tasted like beef and vegetable but enjoyable. I had the eggplant Parmesan which was delicious and my husband enjoyed his lasagna. My in-laws frequent Trevi often when they are in the mood for Italian and it's a wonderful dining spot with family and friends. If you're in the small town of Smyrna it's a great place for lunch or dinner. read more

Last night for Fathers Day I took my guy to Trevi for a nice Italian dinner. I had been there several times in years past but not for a few years. I used to love the food, service, and ambiance. I even brought company & family there when they were visiting. It never disappointed in the past. Last night I ordered the same thing I always ordered. It was NOT good! The veal saltimboca was more like a tough ham slice and not the tender meat it used to be, the Wedding soup he had was extremely salty, and his tortellini sauce 'separated'! My Caesar salad was good, the wine was good, and the bacon wrapped scallops were excellent. If not for the beautiful ambiance and very sweet young waitress, we would have walked out. Because my date used to work as a chef, he asked how long the chef had been there...only a week!!! (I guess he had never eaten there before to taste the awesome quality of the food!?!) I don't think I will be returning after this disappointing $70 meal! Sorry Trevi, you WERE my favorite. read more

This restaurant has slowly gone downhill. Three years ago we loved everything we ordered, however the quality and consistency have declined dramatically. We kept going back from time to time hoping things had changed for the better. Hasn't happened. Tonight I ordered Angel hair pasta with shrimp, scallops, fresh cherry tomatoes in a white wine sauce. What I got was half cooked shrimp, rubbery scallops, and stewed tomatoes in a watery red sauce. When I asked the server why I didn't get what was described on the menu she told me to ask for fresh tomatoes next time. What? We are done. No going back, ever. read more

Had a craving for Italian food and stopped by. I have a few suggestions for the management: -Have your parking lot lines repainted. They're hard to see, and customers were parked all over the place because the old and newer lines are equally blurred. -TRAIN YOUR HOSTESS. We stood there for 30-35 minutes trying to get her attention to just put our name in to wait. We weren't alone. Some had reservations and were also trying to check in to be seated. She never apologized, barely spoke, and never smiled or even looked us in the eye. We saw her running checks, in the kitchen, and bussing tables instead. The waiting area was FULL of patrons who hadn't been greeted. Unacceptable. Your host/hostess shouldn't leave her station for more than a minute to take patrons to their table. A clear name list should be kept at a host station, and reservations should be greeted immediately. The three stars are for our server, Megan, who did her best for us amid the chaos. She was wonderful! Also, the food is awesome. Great bread, great salad, great wine, and my ravioli was delicious. Overall, this place could really benefit from having a better manager and not having your hostess and your wait staff running around trying to bus tables and do each other's jobs. read more

I had stopped in to the restaurant a few days before planning to go for a 80th birthday dinner. Fortunately their front room was available and the staff made every effort to arrange the room for us. With 11 people, we had a wide range of tastes ... our appetizers included steamed clams, steamed scallops (they were amazing - much better than the other seafood place near town), raw oysters, oyster Rockefeller and plenty of the house served warm bread with oil for dipping. Ours meals included pasta with shrimp, chicken piccata, ravioli and even a plain cheese burger. I'll be honest...when I first saw the exterior of this restaurant, I cringed. The building looks sturdy, but you can tell it's showing its age. Robert Irvine should come on over with his sledgehammer and clean up a bit. That being said, however... My parents have gone here a few times since moving to Smyrna and keep telling everyone who will listen that Trevi is the best place ever for Italian food. On Saturday (04/26), they treated me, my boyfriend, my sister and her husband to a post-Easter dinner (no reservations required, I found out). Usually, when my parents say a restaurant has excellent food, I tend to nod and smile; their tastes don't necessarily mirror mine. But this time, I have to say...they were right on the money about this place. Our server (Paige) was amazing. She was friendly, charming, and very helpful in explaining items on the menu. They make everything from pasta to stromboli to pizza, so there's really nothing you can't find on the menu. We decided to order the Rustic Meat & Cheese Plate for an appetizer, which came with slices of prosciutto de parma, sopressata, roasted red peppers, and provolone and mozzarella cheese. Everything was delicious. No fatty pieces on the prosciutto, and the provolone was mild (I can't stand stinky or overly sharp provolone cheese). Also, the bread they gave us to dip in olive oil tasted like it just came out of the oven. I could have made a meal on that alone, it was so good. For the main course, I ordered the Cappellini a la Chef (jumbo shrimp and sauteed mushrooms in a light blush sauce with angelhair pasta). I was given the choice of either a garden or Caesar salad or soup of the day; I chose the Caesar salad. God. Almighty. That Caesar salad was EVERYTHING. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, the croutons perfectly toasted and seasoned, just the right amount of parmesan cheese sprinkled lightly throughout, and the dressing was Trevi's own homemade Caesar. Words fails me in describing just how delicious that dressing was. They need to bottle it and sell it. Move over, Paul Newman. (Wait, he's dead, isn't he? Crap, now I feel really bad.) Moving on... My entree was large and I couldn't finish it, although I really wanted to. The blush sauce was a study in balance: not too thick, but creamy enough that it captured the sweet tangy flavor of the shrimp and the earthy essence of the mushrooms. And the best part? My boyfriend and I agreed that out of all the Italian restaurants we've been to in both New York City and Hoboken, not one of them comes close to Trevi Ristorante in terms of how they cook their pasta or make their sauces. I don't remember exactly what everyone else had (my boyfriend had spaghetti with diced meat and red sauce, which he loved but couldn't finish either), and my sister's husband ordered pizza with peppers and onions, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to come back and try whatever else Trevi Ristorante has to offer, but I wish they'd get rid of the large Christopher Walken chef near the door. :-) read more

Trevi Ristorante is probably the best sit down restaurant in Smyrna. That being said, there isn't a lot of competition and there are some things they could do to become better. I've been to Trevi once or twice a year for the past four years and have always enjoyed the food. The pizza is some of the best I've had which is saying a lot having lived in New York State for the first 24 years of my life. The entrees have always been great; especially the veal and chicken parmigiana dishes. My new favorite thing to order are their cannolis. These things are huge and incredibly tasty. Their shells are always crunchy and flaky and the filling is light but sweet. Some of the things that I think could make this place better are toning down the decor and hire better servers for more consistent service. There is beautiful stone fountain the the center of the restaurant and a full ceiling mural. While they are both very nice to look at, they are a bit much. The service is somewhat hit or miss depending on when you go and who you get for a server. Everyone who works there is very nice but waiting for refills or getting the wrong food is frustrating. One of the most memorable things about Trevi is that the owner is always there working hard in the kitchen and he's always very appreciative of the people who come in to eat. When he recognized us after just one visit, it made us feel very welcome and is one of the reasons why we continue to go back. read more
