Margherita Pie

Not too often I give five stars, but this place deserves it. Been here a handful of times and every time has been solid. Very unassuming on the outside, but nice when you enter. As I've only been for lunch, I can't speak to the dinner service, but lunch typically has one person working, I'm assuming the owner. He is always very good. Food is really good-burgers and other sandwiches, wings, pizza-all good! You can't go wrong here, top notch!

Can count on The Brick for a good meal and often suggest it to people visiting the area. The ambiance is nice with the brick oven at the back. So everyone can see the flames and cooking from where they are seated. They have a bar area with about 10 seats and TVs for sports that is never too loud. The service is friendly and welcoming. They now have a lit sign making it easier to locate in the shopping center. They have a large menu of beers. This visit I went with the Mediterranean pizza on the Specials menu which did not disappoint! It was delicious and unique- spinach pesto, goat cheese with eggplant and sun-dried tomatoes.

We walked in after hearing good things about this place-used to be a somewhat run down but consistently "OK" pizza joint (I had family that worked there and let's just say they never raves about cleanliness) ... anyway! Knowing it was a new pizza spot appealed to us so we headed over. Inside is not glamorous, but it looks that they redid most of it and it looks refreshed inside. Love that you can see them making pizza in the wood fire oven while you're sitting inside! Our booth had a stain on the seat and a piece of food on the table. Not great, but still willing to give it a chance. Our server was a young lady who was very knowledgeable about the menu and was super nice. She checked all of our IDs (including my mom's, and she was flattered) and gave prompt beverage service. My husband got the seasonal IPA on tap and hated it... luckily our server came over and checked in on our drinks super quickly, and she was more than happy to grab him a different IPA instead. I got the Brooklyn Lager with an ice cold glass - very refreshing. My mom got a red wine and they have generous pours here. On to the food: we started with the Brussel sprouts and they were very good. They come with bacon, shallots, balsamic drizzle, pepper flakes, and are wood-fired. Some pieces have a little char or a little kick, and the flavors were super complimentary. For pizza, we got the picante, the little Italy, and the Fruit of my loins. All of them were absolutely delicious! Can't wait to come back and try other pies. I think the only real improvement this place can make is beefing up their draft options and making sure the booths are completely clean in between patrons.

Food was great! Nice atmosphere and clean. Service was fast and attentive. Reasonably priced. Will be back!

Donuts for dessert!

Great corner spot for a lovely dinner. I was in Delaware with my son for a lacrosse tournament and we needed somewhere to go for dinner. We found Brick Wood Fired Eats and had a great time. We started with calamari because we can't get it at home. Delicious! We split two pizzas -the Buffalo and the Little Italy. We took home enough for a snack the next day. We ordered the donuts for dessert. Ummm...yummy!! The server and hostess both got involved in a conversation about what we might be able to do that evening. They recommended mini golf nearby, which gave me priceless time with my teenager.

Satisfied our craving for brick oven pizza in Dover - Full bar, booth and table seating, and a brick oven in the main interior. Bianca pizza - good amt of broccoli, spinach, garlic, and ricotta. Delicious! Buffalo chicken pizza- spicy but not too spicy, great flavor w the vinegar and ricotta Crusts were chewy and fluffy Brussel appetizer - good char, bacon pieces, balsamic vinegar reduction. Flavoring could have been more uniformly spread House Cabernet was delicious. Rewards club for a free app every five visits.

Great food and service. The operating hours are not the best. Many people have lunch before noon.

Also, the meat on the cheesesteak was burnt. Again, nothing to do with doordash. Called Grottos, young lady who i spoke with talked to the manager, if you want to call them that, said that it's not on them, I have to put my complaint in with Doordash. We have been customers for years. Guess who we will not be visiting anymore. Management can make or break a place. Passing the buck and not apologizing is just showing how poor the management really is. When I told the young lady on the phone that it's a shame they were going to lose a good customer over a burnt cheesesteak and French fries, she laughed. Plenty of other places to eat that care more about their customers than Dover Grottos!

The rewards program/swirl card system seems like a good idea in theory. You give them your name and number and every so often you will get a 10.00 discount on your order and a free children's pizza on your birthday. But beware, if you have any kind of issue in their restaurant, even if it has nothing to do with the staff, they will use your participation in this program against you. They will give your name and number to the police and involve themselves in matters that should not concern them. I am nearly 40 and have never had any trouble with the law in my entire life until they meddled in my business; the context of which they knew nothing about. They will do this with no hesitation. When you confront them about this they will deny it. But no one else there knew my number but their computer system. To make matters worse they will then ban you from their restaurant. The servers are very two-faced, and the general manager John is one of the most heartless men I've ever met. I was a very loyal regular customer every Friday night for years. I had friends there I loved who I will never see again. That is the hardest part of all. No goodbyes, no second chances. They did it to me, please don't think it won't happen to you. I don't think a few ten dollar discounts here and there and a once a year baby sized pizza with no toppings are worth it. Proceed with caution. I cannot speak for the other locations, I only know they did this at grotto's Dover.

It was clean, but very cold with even the hostess wearing a jacket, We ordered chicken Parm for lunch ($16 for the lunch portion and an extra charge if you would like salad). We also ordered a Caprese sandwich with soup. The soup arrived quickly but our main lunch was delayed. The server apologized saying there was an issue with the cook. Everything looked good, but the spaghetti was lukewarm, and the Caprese sandwich was tasteless with tomatoes that were like mush. The chicken parm was hot so it was odd that the spaghetti was not. We didn't see our waitress for a while so we shared the chicken Parm and just put the sandwich on the side. Even though there was one bite missing from the entire sandwich, the server asked if we wanted to take it to go. Overall, the meal was a disappointment, and we won't be returning. Side note: if you use your credit card, expect a 3% surcharge.

Everything seemed clean and neat, with a mix of some background music playing. Since it was noontime, the large windows let in a lot of light. It only took a couple of minutes for someone to get my drink order. I figured pizza was in the name, so I ordered the Pizza Americana (pepperoni and sausage) and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Salad came and a saucer of oil and seasonings and soft rolls accompanied it. Salad was very basic- lettuce, 2 slices of cucumber, one cherry tomato, one red onion ring, and half dozen croutons. Dressing was fairly good. The oil for dipping the bread was heavy on the garlic. The pizza came out very quickly, and smelled and looked great. Crust was nice and crisp. Sausage was tasty. Although I ordered the small, it really could serve two, especially if you had the salad and a roll. Overall it was a pleasant experience here. I'd definitely stop here again. I would recommend that the management have someone clean the ventilation ducts though. They appear to have a lot of residue on them which is a little off putting.
