First, let me say this is no longer Pizza Delight by Giacomo. It hasn't been for years. This is new ownership (at least a couple years ago) and is not the way Giacomo, and at the end, Oscar (who moved on to Vincenzo's) made things. That being said - our pizza was above average, The large pizza had a nice crispy and pillowy crust, but the dough was so thin in the middle, it was very floppy when I picked up a slice. One of the toppings was on a few of the slices, and hardly at all on the others. Also, there was only 1 waitress, and she was running nonstop. She did her best, but the service was a little off. The kitchen was pretty slow as well. Prices have gone way up. I know time are tough, but these were big jumps in price. I remember what Giacomo's was like, and unfortunately, this is not quite Giacomo's. read more

The food is good but their takeout service is always horrible. when you order they tell you to wait 20 to 30 minutes before picking up your food, and then when you get there you pay and have to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes because they didn't completely cook your food within the timeframe they said they would. read more

My family recently dined in at Giacomo's and enjoyed our experience. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The menu is pretty standard for Italian food, they have pizza, calzones, etc. but we all had our eyes on the subs. The regular size sub is 12" and is definitely enough for two meals, to share with a friend or, if you're super hungry, tackle it all yourself! I opted for the eggplant parmigiana sub, which was delicious. I ate half of my sub and took the other half home. My husband and I shared an order of fries. The fries were pretty plain, so if I went again I'd probably get cheese fries or another side instead. All in all a nice restaurant and I would happily come back when I am in the area. read more

So, another day, another craving. In my head, I have decided to take note...restaurant vs delivery service. I am consciously making the effort to complain about either one. For example, DoorDash is the most ignorant service. I only use them when they are associated / contracted with a restaurant of choice. Even then, I go to the restaurants site and order, I do not order from the app. In my personal experience, I used to use them often, but never fail they would mess something up. No matter how dumbed down I am, they do not see the directions, or figure out that 1+1=2; not 11. So, it pains me GREATLY to say, this time, in addition to DoorDash being stupid, this place...I don't really know how to start. I was looking for something to eat. After taking forever to rake the brains, I decided on pizza. I didn't want ANY pizza, but a "NY Style pizza," a "greasy," "hole-in-the-wall," sold "per slice," kinda pizza. So, I go on the hunt. The normal spots, that I trust are unavailable, because...well, its Delaware; and not only living in Delaware, I live in the sticks. Outside of roadkill, there is not much out here. It's ridiculous, but I ran thru the list of chain pizza spots (Little Caesars, Mod, shewt I even looked at Sbarro, and Chuck E Cheese **when I said crappy, I meant crappy!**) to know avail, I fell upon this place, and when reading the reviews I decided that I would try it. Nothing major, 3 slices, (1) with my fav things, and *+(2) plain ole everyday cheese. OMG! It 1st took forever to get delivered. Due to DoorDash's "impecable" and "timely" dashers, the order was moved back twice, due to lack of drivers. Then when I did it, it came in a large sized pizza box. My family member brought it up to me, and put it on my lap. The box was cold. 1st eyebrow raise: why is my so-called "HOT" pizza not hot? To be more blunt, "Why the heck is my pizza cold?!" Not luke-warm, or even room temp, just plain ole, everyday COLD! Begrudgingly I looked at the slices and they looked left-over, from like last week. So, my brain said, "stupid, it's cold, it's late, let's just put it away!" My stomach was NOT having it, "it threatened my life, if I didn't try give it fuel, it would give me hell!" I weighed both sides, and decided that I would go ahead and try to eat, and hopefully, it was better than it looked. Stupid move!!!!! I bit into the cheese pizza first! My lip hit the underside of the slice...newp, newp, NO, NOPE!!! WTH?! Gag. It was COLD like I suspected, but that wasn't the only thing. The cheese was like metallic rubber, the sauce was a weird metallic YUCK taste! Which is saying something. You know if you were going on the taste pallet the metallic taste if the cheese and sauce blended...well..?? Silver lining?? Once the bit piece (cheese, sauce, and dough) were in my mouth, I chewed...and the first response was immediate. NASTIEST CRAP ON GOD'S GOOD AND GIVEN PLANET! Ugh!!!!! What the heck was the poison that I was attempting to consume. So, I stopped and this shows how little I learn, I thought to myself...ah...maybe this is one of those places that you need other things ON THE pizza, in order for it to taste good. IDK where I got that from, but my mind is on "starve mode," I decided to do the "darn thing," but before I could do anything I lifted up the cold, rubber covered looking slice, and all the toppings fell off, looking like on slice was disemboweled, and its guts fell into the box. I know that is a gruesome analogy, but its taste was nasty, and the pizza disemboweled was horrid! Please know that I will not be returning to this restaurant EVER! If I ever eat from this restaurant, it would be under duress, or ignorases. Duress: I would have to be duct taped and put into a car, dragged out, into the restaurant and duct taped to the table with a nail at the bottom of my jaw; nailing it open, and someone physically shoving the pizza into my mouth, holding my nose, making me have to chew, then swallow. Yes, that's how NASTY the food was. If I could give my honest rating of this restaurant, it would be -20 outta 10. Hated it! After I spit out the bite that I had taken, I wrote this rating, and ordered back from a chain I like and has more than most, been good to providing tasty pizza; Papa Johns. read more

I want to be clear that this review is based on one single experience. I have never eaten at Giacomo before or since, so I can't speak for their other menu items. I ordered the Eggplant Parmagiana Hero, and it was very unpleasant. First, the fried eggplant itself mostly just tasted like oil, which it was drenched in. The inside of the sandwich was soaked with oil presumably from the un-drained eggplant, to the point that it was soaking into the crust of the bread, making it look shiny and a bit see-through. I didn't know that was possible. The sandwich itself was pretty bare, it couldn't have been more than a tablespoons worth of marinara in the whole sandwich. And while there definitely wasn't enough marinara sauce, it didn't look like there was ANY cheese. I had to open the sandwich and actually search for it, to find what MIGHT have been a tiny amount stuck between two globs of oily eggplant - but there was so little that I wasn't even sure it was cheese. Parm / Parmagiana plates, heros, etc., the word Parmagiana is key. The cheese is the main attribute, next to the marinara, and there's really no reason why these two key elements should be nearly non-existent. As for the oily-ness, it seemed like it wasn't fried in oil that was hot enough to prevent the eggplant from absorbing it, and they also evidently didn't let it drain. It almost seemed like they scooped extra oil on. I don't know what I got but this wasn't a Parm Hero lol. Normally I never like leaving negative reviews like these, I like to contact the restaurant first incase it's a fluke and they were unaware, but my attempt to contact them went unanswered. I realize that mistakes and off-days happen, so I am willing to revisit this review if resolved. read more

I am very happy with my $14.75 total price for a 16-inch cheese steak and a draft of beer. I don't know, I do know, I'm nitpicking but I would rather a full 14 in than an emtpy'ish 16 inch roll. I had not been to Giacomos in a while, since they raised the prices up. Decided to have a cheesesteak, as I was in the mood. On a positive note the thing was large. But it went down hill from there. Got home and the meat tasted like steak-ums that had been freezer burned. There was no cheese noticed and the sandwich was terrible due to poor quality meat. Okay I've been going here for years ever since I was little kid. I love their food and they usually have okay service. However it's become a hot mess. They're open rarely anymore and they're staff are completely rude. Idk how to explain it but I just called twice. Because the first time no one picked up the phone. Then I called the second time to see if they were just closed early again and a woman picked up and was rude as all hell. I'm a waitress myself and I get it, times get rough but girl. I finally decided to try this place and even though I only got a slice I felt it was worth saying a quick word about it. The bottom was crisp but not overcooked and the crust was crispy but still had chew. It was light on the sauce but you could still taste it, I just prefer a little more. The toppings surprised me. As he put on the pepperoni he covered the the whole slice ( pepperoni was good quality and not the grease oozing type you get at some of the other local places). He then added my crumbled sausage and mushrooms in a generous amount. A few minutes In the oven and I'm ready to dive in. Flavor was great and for $2.90 I was happy. Normally I would give Giacomo's a very high grade. Not this time. I ordered a chicken cheese steak and it was not of the quality Giacomo's is known for. Giacomo's pizza is arguably the most successful local pizza place in Delaware and that is not without good reason. The crust of the pizza is nice and thin, the tomato sauce is good, the cheese melts in your mouth, it is precisely what someone envisions when they think of a pizza. Their meatball sub is fantastic. They also do amazing calzones which unfortunately you can't get on Fridays (old giac has always been a stickler about that) They do both delivery, carry out and you can eat there. read more

I usually get a NY style pizza crust from pizza shops however this time we decided to get Sicilian style and it was still good. The sauce is on the sweeter side which I personally love and the crust was thick and spongy. When this used to be across the street from the base main entrance my husband was Active Duty and he would make deliveries to the people who would place an order and they had really good food we would often buy subs and pizza and when our family would visit us and they all thought the food was good! I've eaten here many many times but the last two times have been awful and not to mention really expensive. I ordered chicken tenders w/ fries, a cheeseburger and Italian sub. The chicken tenders were over cooked they were so dark and dry. The Italian sub didn't have oregano on it, barely had oil and didn't have onions. The the bread was also old. When I ordered the cheeseburger I said everything on it thinking they'd put regular stuff you put on a burger... pickles, onions, tomatoes... they put banana peppers and sweet peppers. Never in my life have I seen that. Thankfully those can be removed but I paid over $40 for this food that was crap and was the second time I did so. I remember calling and complaining last time and they didn't care or do anything for me about it. This place has gone downhill.
