So, another day, another craving. In my head, I have decided to take note...restaurant vs delivery service. I am consciously making the effort to complain about either one. For example, DoorDash is the most ignorant service. I only use them when they are associated / contracted with a restaurant of choice. Even then, I go to the restaurants site and order, I do not order from the app. In my personal experience, I used to use them often, but never fail they would mess something up. No matter how dumbed down I am, they do not see the directions, or figure out that 1+1=2; not 11. So, it pains me GREATLY to say, this time, in addition to DoorDash being stupid, this place...I don't really know how to start. I was looking for something to eat. After taking forever to rake the brains, I decided on pizza. I didn't want ANY pizza, but a "NY Style pizza," a "greasy," "hole-in-the-wall," sold "per slice," kinda pizza. So, I go on the hunt. The normal spots, that I trust are unavailable, because...well, its Delaware; and not only living in Delaware, I live in the sticks. Outside of roadkill, there is not much out here. It's ridiculous, but I ran thru the list of chain pizza spots (Little Caesars, Mod, shewt I even looked at Sbarro, and Chuck E Cheese **when I said crappy, I meant crappy!**) to know avail, I fell upon this place, and when reading the reviews I decided that I would try it. Nothing major, 3 slices, (1) with my fav things, and *+(2) plain ole everyday cheese. OMG! It 1st took forever to get delivered. Due to DoorDash's "impecable" and "timely" dashers, the order was moved back twice, due to lack of drivers. Then when I did it, it came in a large sized pizza box. My family member brought it up to me, and put it on my lap. The box was cold. 1st eyebrow raise: why is my so-called "HOT" pizza not hot? To be more blunt, "Why the heck is my pizza cold?!" Not luke-warm, or even room temp, just plain ole, everyday COLD! Begrudgingly I looked at the slices and they looked left-over, from like last week. So, my brain said, "stupid, it's cold, it's late, let's just put it away!" My stomach was NOT having it, "it threatened my life, if I didn't try give it fuel, it would give me hell!" I weighed both sides, and decided that I would go ahead and try to eat, and hopefully, it was better than it looked. Stupid move!!!!! I bit into the cheese pizza first! My lip hit the underside of the slice...newp, newp, NO, NOPE!!! WTH?! Gag. It was COLD like I suspected, but that wasn't the only thing. The cheese was like metallic rubber, the sauce was a weird metallic YUCK taste! Which is saying something. You know if you were going on the taste pallet the metallic taste if the cheese and sauce blended...well..?? Silver lining?? Once the bit piece (cheese, sauce, and dough) were in my mouth, I chewed...and the first response was immediate. NASTIEST CRAP ON GOD'S GOOD AND GIVEN PLANET! Ugh!!!!! What the heck was the poison that I was attempting to consume. So, I stopped and this shows how little I learn, I thought to myself...ah...maybe this is one of those places that you need other things ON THE pizza, in order for it to taste good. IDK where I got that from, but my mind is on "starve mode," I decided to do the "darn thing," but before I could do anything I lifted up the cold, rubber covered looking slice, and all the toppings fell off, looking like on slice was disemboweled, and its guts fell into the box. I know that is a gruesome analogy, but its taste was nasty, and the pizza disemboweled was horrid! Please know that I will not be returning to this restaurant EVER! If I ever eat from this restaurant, it would be under duress, or ignorases. Duress: I would have to be duct taped and put into a car, dragged out, into the restaurant and duct taped to the table with a nail at the bottom of my jaw; nailing it open, and someone physically shoving the pizza into my mouth, holding my nose, making me have to chew, then swallow. Yes, that's how NASTY the food was. If I could give my honest rating of this restaurant, it would be -20 outta 10. Hated it! After I spit out the bite that I had taken, I wrote this rating, and ordered back from a chain I like and has more than most, been good to providing tasty pizza; Papa Johns.

I want to be clear that this review is based on one single experience. I have never eaten at Giacomo before or since, so I can't speak for their other menu items. I ordered the Eggplant Parmagiana Hero, and it was very unpleasant. First, the fried eggplant itself mostly just tasted like oil, which it was drenched in. The inside of the sandwich was soaked with oil presumably from the un-drained eggplant, to the point that it was soaking into the crust of the bread, making it look shiny and a bit see-through. I didn't know that was possible. The sandwich itself was pretty bare, it couldn't have been more than a tablespoons worth of marinara in the whole sandwich. And while there definitely wasn't enough marinara sauce, it didn't look like there was ANY cheese. I had to open the sandwich and actually search for it, to find what MIGHT have been a tiny amount stuck between two globs of oily eggplant - but there was so little that I wasn't even sure it was cheese. Parm / Parmagiana plates, heros, etc., the word Parmagiana is key. The cheese is the main attribute, next to the marinara, and there's really no reason why these two key elements should be nearly non-existent. As for the oily-ness, it seemed like it wasn't fried in oil that was hot enough to prevent the eggplant from absorbing it, and they also evidently didn't let it drain. It almost seemed like they scooped extra oil on. I don't know what I got but this wasn't a Parm Hero lol. Normally I never like leaving negative reviews like these, I like to contact the restaurant first incase it's a fluke and they were unaware, but my attempt to contact them went unanswered. I realize that mistakes and off-days happen, so I am willing to revisit this review if resolved.

It was tasty. It was a pretty standard pizza shop cheesesteak. Big, 16 in, it probably would have fit nicely on a 14-inch roll. I am very happy with my $14.75 total price for a 16-inch cheese steak and a draft of beer. I don't know, I do know, I'm nitpicking but I would rather a full 14 in than an emtpy'ish 16 inch roll. The pizzas look really good. Good overall experience.

I've only visited Pizza Delight 3x this week. The pizza is consistently good, with the crust as the most impressive......The provolone sub sandwich is very light on the cheese. A provolone sub should have at least 9 slices of provolone....mine has 3-4 slices.................The side salad that is included with an entree does NOT have onions (most important), or olives, or pepperoncinis....................The lobby where all take out orders are picked up offers NO seats, only a very small standing area that becomes over crowded during peak dining times, and overflow to the outside sidewalk is necessary. .........One nice thing I can report is that there is NO overhead music. That is a good thing. read more

My husband and I were traveling from out of town and ended up here by accident just looking for a sit-down pizza place (the other two we drove to were carry-out only). What a happy accident! We ordered a large cheese pizza with light sauce and not only did it arrive super fast, it was huge and delicious!! Our waitress was amazing too. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good NY style pizza! read more

We visited Pizza Delight on June 9th 2022 at 8:10 PM to place an order to go. They close at 8:30 PM apparently it's to late for them to wait on you 20 mins before they close. I walked in and I was greeted by a young lady who says to me "you here to pick up" I said no I would like to place an order to go, she shook her head no and said it's too late. They won't have to tell me twice that they will not serve me. read more

Best pizza in Dover. We order pizza when Oscar is making it. The chicken parmigiana is to die for. (I order with meat sauce.) Enough for two people or for two meals. The garlic cheese bread is one of our favorites and our kids ages 7 and 10 can split chicken tenders and French fries platter, as there is enough in an order. read more

4 stars for the pizza. But if you're looking for more than just pizza, I'd have to say it's 3 stars. Food isn't bad. But some of the best pizza in Dover. Very friendly staff. Ps. Don't forget to cut the pizza coupon out of the lid of the box if you get it for takeout or delivery. read more

This is for Gateway Route 10 Should be zero stars. Terrible customer service. Cheap help at front counter will eventually ruin this place. Giacomo himself might be nice guy. But customer service is horrible. Long wait! Wrong pizza (x2)...."giaco-boli" given to someone else..big deal...but don't tell me an hour later while I'm still waiting that "you had big orders to fill". Ordered a tomato pie. This is my childhood-to-present day favorite pizza joint. The dining room is a bit dated and bland, but the food is top notch. I'll take a Giacomo's cheese steak over Pat's or Geno's any day. Service has improved in recent years, in conjunction with updates to their payment and POS systems. Pizza is great, cheese steaks are great, salads are fresh and plentiful. Prices are cheap. There's really no reason not to like this place. read more

I normally rave about how great the food is here,but I have noticed a decline in professionalism from the wait staff period...we have been going there for years,and has always been the "go to" when we had family in town or wanted great food... Cindy was always out waitress and she was awesome....here lately the food hasn't been very tasty and some of the waitresses would rather gossip about other patrons and talk about each other,than provide professional service....it saddens me....one waitress in particular is a bully and she tries to intimidate people, gives nasty looks and has a horrible attitude.......its sad...and pathetic......and the orders we have placed for delivery,the past 2 times we have ordered have been missing things...COME ON GIACOMOS....YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!! read more

Bad experience: I had the fettuccine Alfredo and it was horrible. I barely ate 3 bites... They had run out of fettuccine and gave me spaghetti noodles (asking me of course). And the Alfredo sauce was very.......nothing like Alfredo... it wasn't even white... The waitress noticed that I barely that any and asked if I wanted a box. I told her I didn't want a box because it was really bad. She didn't do anything as she was young and probably new at the restaurant. When I went to pay at the register, the cashier asked how my food was and I said it was bad and that I barely ate it. She said, "Oh, we'll some people don't like it," and charged me full price. The cheese steaks aren't bad. read more

My wife and I have been going here for about 40 years now. The consistency of excellent food and service has made it our favorite restaurant for all of those 40 years. We like to try different places, and there are nicer atmospheres around, but there is NO place that tops Giacomo's for food quality, service, and affordability. It is the best. My wife gets their spaghetti with meat sauce, and I get veal parmigiana with a ziti side--- now all the time, every time, same dishes. They're so *PERFECT*. [And now I'm hungry! ] read more

My pizza arrived cold and I had to heat it up in the oven. The cheesesteak Stromboli had peppers that tasted old and slimy. I was so happy to find another pizza place but this was not what I was expecting. I will not be going back after today. read more

This place cooks the best Sysco food. It's all seems like really cheap food that comes in frozen and they just fry it or heat it up. Not sure what other people from Delaware see in this place. The food is very bland, and just lacks flavor. The service is good. The servers are friendly and polite. I only come here cause my husband likes it, but if I didn't want to please him then I would probably never pay to eat this food. read more

6 of us stopped in Saturday night for dinner at 5pm. Not very busy then but it was starting to get busy. We all ordered something different. We were in the side room with one other family that was finishing up. Took awhile to place our order. Another group of 4 came in and I know ordered similar food. They were waited on, had there food and gone before we got ours. About a hour wait for us. 1 of us ordered another drink and waitress took the glass and never came back. we had to chase her down. 2 of us ordered sausage subs and the meat was sliced so thin and dry I threw half of mine away to the dog when I got home. Terrible service and food. I will never go back. read more

I was in Dover this past weekend and was looking for something to eat with the family. I took a gamble on this place and it worked out great. We went with some cheesesteaks and pizza. The cheesesteaks were some of the best we've had outside of Philadelphia. And the pizza was great. I'm kind of a pizza snob, and was real pleased. The setting reminded me of the type of old-school pizzeria/Italian restaurant that I grew up with in NY. I was real pleased and will be back again when in the area. read more

This restaurant is a favorite of locals. Located on Rt. 8 on the West Side of Dover. Good pizza, pasta and subs. Carryout and dine in. Wait people are always friendly. Located in the Redner's Shopping Center. Ice cream store a few stores down is open in the summer. UPS and Rite Aid Store are in the same shopping Center. ACE Hardware is nearby as well. read more

Great friendly service and average food. Short waits time. No issues until recently. Ordered a cheese steak to go and was very disappointed. It was so greasy. Soaked through the paper and the bread. Called to inform them of my dissatisfaction and she said she would inform the cook and hopefully they will try to make it better next time. No next time. They lost a customer. read more

Not quite. Busy for a slice? I went to use the bathroom, yet my slice of pizza was still not ready. Plain old pizza - what so complicated with that? A little bit faster and attention to a slice, would be simply "pie" off. read more

We went here on a Friday bight and decided to make this one of the places in our date night rotation. There was great food and a friendly staff. The second time we went back the waitress even remembered us!! Amazing service!! Amazing food!! read more

The food was good but the service wasn't the best I've had before. She was rude and slow, didn't seem to care about our table at all. We were a group of servers from another restaurant so we do kind of access things harshly. But only on standards where they should be held. She came around a few times but never with refill on drinks. Food was brought at random times, fries after pizza, my meal before everyone's appetizers. There seemed to be problems in the back with everything backed up but she only explained this when we started questioning where everything was. She never sounded apologetic about anything at all and just made the whole vibe for our table kind of miserable. I really hope this was just a bad night for her and she wasn't always like this. I enjoy eating here, the owner is awesome and engaging, but she was the polar opposite. read more

45 plus minute wait for the entrees. Food was good and waitress was great. Mentioned long wait to OWNER and was chewed out about busy time and small ovens ! Never apologized or offered to take $1 off the bill, just poor excuses. TIME TO RETIRE GIACOMO. I won't t recommend you after that experience. read more

I ordered 4 calzones online which cost me $65.00. plus I gave the delivery driver a five dollar tip. Instead of poliseno sending 4 calzones poliseno sent 4 barbecue chicken subs that were so small a baby would not have filled up off of it. I call them to inform them of the error and was told poliseno could not eat the error. I was told if I would have called the order in directly to the store instead of the online representative the store could have done something about the mistake. So I'm stuck with four miniature subs that cost me $65.00. Poliseno has lost a good paying customer. I will never order anything from there again and I will tell anyone who ask to never order from poliseno on-line because the store workers feels it's okay to take advantage of its customers who order online.

You give them your name and number and every so often you will get a 10.00 discount on your order and a free children's pizza on your birthday. But beware, if you have any kind of issue in their restaurant, even if it has nothing to do with the staff, they will use your participation in this program against you. They will give your name and number to the police and involve themselves in matters that should not concern them. I am nearly 40 and have never had any trouble with the law in my entire life until they meddled in my business; the context of which they knew nothing about. They will do this with no hesitation. When you confront them about this they will deny it. But no one else there knew my number but their computer system. To make matters worse they will then ban you from their restaurant. The servers are very two-faced, and the general manager John is one of the most heartless men I've ever met. I was a very loyal regular customer every Friday night for years. I had friends there I loved who I will never see again. That is the hardest part of all. No goodbyes, no second chances. They did it to me, please don't think it won't happen to you. I don't think a few ten dollar discounts here and there and a once a year baby sized pizza with no toppings are worth it. Proceed with caution. I cannot speak for the other locations, I only know they did this at grotto's Dover.

We are frequent customers. We love Giacomos and - Oscar, he is a very very good man...We have never once had a bad experience or any issues with our choice of food. The pizza is of the best I personally have found in Dover, and the staff is magnificent and very personable. Frankie and I will be loyal customers for a long time to come.
