Been wanting to go for a while... I had French onion soup and a little Reuben. She had caesar salad and cod fish n chips. Soup tasted more vinegary than beefy...I like it robust... nice touch with the crostini tho. Reuben was a bit tough where it was 'flame-kissed' but the portion was nice... Fish was not as firm as she liked but flavorful... We both agreed that the malt vinegar is always a must but that the fries were tasty but a bit limp. Recently moving from the NJ/NY area, I was craving some good pizza. (Grotto is not it. Grotto is Ellios). Came here and was greeted first by a trendy and casual atmosphere. My waitstaff doubled as the bartender and did a fantastic job at being attentive to all. Great service trumps good food everytime and THIS alone warrants a return visit! However, it's not just the service that was appealing but so was the pizza. The center-stage brick oven results in a crispy and chewy crust. Good dough. If you're looking for a great spot to enjoy a drink, eat some great food and have a nice night - this is the place! Wife and I sat at the bar which was really nice and enjoyed Prosecco and Beer from Fordham brewery - the gentleman taking care of us made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in to when we left. The cast iron meatballs had to be our favorite of the night - knots were awesome and pizza was great too! We enjoyed the atmosphere being it had the feeling of being back in a NY style Italian restaurant, which is awesome to now have a spot like this in Dover. Stopped here on a road trip, was shocked by how good it was. Got the arancini and the veggie pizza and it absolutely surpassed my expectations. The arancini were nice and crunchy on the outside, and fluffy and cheesy on the inside. The veggie pizza came with a balsamic drizzle on top and it was so delicately sweet but not overpowering. I go out of my way to find wood-fired oven pizza. Theirs was sadly not up to par...the crust was crispy and nicely charred on the edges, but mushy all through the middle. Sauce was too sweet and there was too much of it. This is not what wood oven pizza is supposed to be like. The bacon jam dressing on the spinach salad was very thick but amazeballs. And the Brussels sprouts were really, really good. Onion rings...just ok. Definitely very crispy. Whatever brand of birch beer they serve is way too sweet. We will not return on the way back, or on future trips, because they have two tv screens going...that distracts one of our kiddos too much and keeps him from eating. read more

I came for happy hour. I ordered the meatballs, 2 crab cake sliders, and a cheese pizza. The food was on point! Coming from NY, I have standards for Italian dishes. They've met/exceeded them. The customer service was great. I spoke with the manager and we refelcted on being from NY and moving to DE. Being personable goes a long way! I recommend this place whole heartedly. My husband was disappointed that he couldn't get a pizza made to order after the transition from Mama Lazzaro's, so it took a little coaxing to get him to give The Brick another try. He said he was very hungry and ordered the chili, a BLT wedge salad, and a classic burger. I ordered the Caprese Pizza. The chili came out steaming hot, and I know that impressed him (food can never be too hot for him)! It was very good. He ate most and I finished it. He ate every bite of his wedge salad, and it was big. He liked the nice, toasted brioche bun that the burger was on, but that first bite really got a reaction from him. He loved that he could taste that it had been cooked in the brick oven, and it was a perfect medium rare. I had to help him with the fresh, homemade fries . My pizza was very good, too. It was completely covered with fresh mozzarella. But, next time I'd like to try one with a red sauce. It's so hard to decide which to choose! The crust is always great. I hate writing this review because I'm a firm believer in supporting local businesses versus large chains, but this place was am absolute let down. I am incredibly disappointed by my experience. In my opinion it is expensive for the lack of quality and very average at best Service..honestly everything about this place was mediocre at best..and if nearly 80$ is being spent I do expect more than that. It was honestly forgettable and to me it's the place that I will in future to refer to as "expensive for no reason". I have been to quite a few "competitive" places that are locally owned in the area and honestly, all of them are better than the brick. There are several I can think of at the top of my head that are in the similar price range with a more complex and diverse menu, better quality food, and amazing service For starters, I do understand given the situation in todays world, there are places that are short staffed, people are over worked and underpaid and prices are going up. However, it seemed as though this place was nearly fully staffed as there was several waitresses, bartenders and people working behind the scenes. It took over an hour to get our food and many times our waitress was just standing around not really doing anything, despite there being a decent volume of guests(there were numerous empty tables and booths so i wouldn't call the place packed) We were sitting close to the kitchen, and rarely did she come over and refill our drinks. I do think the only reason she started checking in was because at nearly 45 minutes AFTER placing the order I started to get annoyed she was not checking in on us and I think maybe she heard me. None of us had water at this point. . It took over an hour to receive our dinners. Our orders were rather simple. My dinner was 20$ pasta, and it was very bland, minimal seasoning and I was disappointed there was no garlic bread..literally all competitive places offer at least one side of garlic bread..and for 20$ I find this rather unacceptable this is not included. . Or at least give the customers a side, or like a salad or something for 20$....my father got the egg Parmesan..it did not come with noodles or anything. Just some egg plant and spinach that looked rather wet and greasy. Way too expensive for what was given. He also said his dinner was mediocre and not worth the price. My mom got the boli and did enjoy hers. Also, I know some people do not care about this but I will also mention not one staff member was wearing a mask. Some people care, some people do not but I figured I should mention it just in case you don't feel comfortable in that type of environment. Overall, I would skip this place. It's not the worse place ever, it wasn't dirty or anything, but it's just not worth it. I honestly hate feeling this way because I truly would much rather go here than somewhere like Olive Garden or another large chain, but honestly- there are just so many other better choices in the area that have amazing food and awesome service both locally owned and I hate to say this but better chains as well. Deff do some research and support another local business. The reason why I am not giving 1 starts is because it was not the worst experience I have had at an establishment..nothing horrible occurred, but I just don't think this place is worth it..at all. read more

Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday. Had the farmhouse salad, side Mac and cheese, Mac daddy pizza, fruit of my loins pizza, and lava cake. Everything was delicious. If I'm being nitpicky, the walnuts on the salad had a little too much honey and the peaches on the fruit of my loins pizza was canned but everything still tasted great. My kid loved the mac.
